@@luxuriouspubes Shane Rout (Abyssic Hate) did that too. Such a trip every time I listen to his stuff. As for Burzum, the best example for me would be the last two songs of "Belus" album.
there are a ton of parts to heavy metal songs that i could name that have the same calm yet terrifying vibe as this track. the beginning to slayer's "seasons in the abyss," the beginnings to obituary's "infected" and "slowly we rot," and the beginning of megadeth's "looking down the cross" are all good examples
I know exactly where this is played in the game. I can see the security guard in the ground as a sniper opens fire. It’s just so memorable once you have played through the game a couple times.
@Corporal Adrian Shepard god, so eerie. half life is always defined as a first person shooter with puzzles, but it's more accurately described as a survival horror game. if you can immerse yourself in the game and let the reality of the situation set in, it's fucking terrifying from start to finish
@Corporal Adrian Shepard i find the situation of being trapped in a sealed bunker deep underground with aliens that want to eat your intestines and soldiers that want you dead terrifying, yes.
I love this track. There's something special about it that I can't quite describe. Maybe it's because I live in Arizona or my childhood memories playing half life. I recall using this track for a video project back in middle school.
You can hear the heat of desert slowly getting to your mind, you can sense the air getting hotter and hotter. The Sun is burning your skin, there's a sense of urgency. Something is in the distance; is it a friend, or a foe? Or is it all just a mirage? Either way, a long journey is ahead and you must continue. That's at least what I see in this sound, really masterfully done, Kelly Bailey. And thank you Dr. Magnusson for uploading this!
you for the first time ever see the light of day, as you exit the absolute darkness underground where dank creatures fester and wither, you... Are not the one cursed to be alone down there. You open your eyes and see a vast grassy plain shined upon by a rising sun. Glorious clouds race with the powerful wind, slowly traveling over gigantic forests that reach the horizon. You hear behind you the moving of waves. A great canyon ends, a lonely shed lies at its top. By its side a man with a large archaic beard sits on a wooden chair. He is assisted by a tall dog. You see the waves down there... An endless ocean that goes towards nowhere. You think about it. Then you no longer think about it. You just enjoy the summer air.
How come an electric guitar can evoke so well such a specific image like that of a scientist in a flashy hazmat suit walking across the dessert on an afternoon, among military debris? Kelly Bailey is an atmosphere genius.
It's amazing what he can do. But it also reminds me of Hitman Codename:47 the harbor levels. One of them had a similar track. Actually let me find it. ruclips.net/video/1Ltm4I5mEVc/видео.htmlsi=oJQ8t_SyOzNlzowQ Jasper Kyd is also a genius.
Freezing dawn air claws at your face. You look for food in a desolate urban landscape. You hear a chopper's blades thumping at the horizon. Above the rooftops, the Citadel gazes down on you.
Going home after a long trip in the early morning hours, seeing how the sky goes from being dark to dark blue, and eventually settling on a beautiful shade of red type of mood.
When you stare at the orange pink sky watching the sunset, with a cigar and six pack of cold beer, Just winding down after a longer stressful day at work..
POV: You were one of the lucky ones to escape the Black Mesa facility after the Resonance Cascade, except you find yourself lost in the vast, empty desert of New Mexico. Theres only sand, rocks, and the occasional cactus for hundreds of miles. Was fleeing here really a good idea?
