The new Vorga knocked my socks off. I am genuinely without socks right now because of it. I'd also recommend Cistvaen - At Lights Demise, a UK atmospheric black metal band in the vein of Woods of Desolation and ColdWorld.
El de Vorga fue muy buen álbum sin lugar a dudas, coincido completamente.
Cistvaen sound a lot like Agalloch to me.
@@serviettedetable I think they would like that comparison. I've played with them a couple of times and they sound great live too
@@J_Stamps86 yeah it most be great live ! What's the name of your band ?
@@serviettedetable I'm in Hecate Enthroned and Ba'al. Cistvaen have played with both bands at least once if memory serves.
I have to check Slimelord! How did I missed this! Anyway, heres my top ten 🤘🤘
1. Necrophobic - In the Twilight Grey
Perfect blackened death metal. The production feels grim and cold and yet, there’s plenty of melodies and crazy solos everywhere! It’s a majestic album from these 35 years veteran.
2. Apogean - Cyberstrictive
Phenomenal Toronto Tech Death! Is insanely technical and yet still has plenty of musicality all over. Plus, Mac Smith (ex Alterbeast, Krosis), is a beast of a vocalist!
3. Dödsrit - Nocturnal Will
An atmospheric and melodic take on punky post-black metal.
4. Darkestrah - Nomad
The musical equivalent of riding on horseback, at full speed, in a majestic Kyrgyzstan valley. Folky atmospheric black that hits all the right notes.
5. De Mal En Pire - Sã Mo
From my small hometown of Sherbrooke, Qc, (Sherby love!) It’s their debut but feels like their 10th already! Everything is perfect, the production is clean but organic and still sounds a bit dirty where it needs to, the musicianship is on another level and the concept is super engaging! The album is in French and based on a painting of Théodore Géricault called "Le Radeau de la Méduse" and explores deep feelings of loneliness and despair. It’s a post-metal masterpiece!
6. Ecclesia - Ecclesia Militans
French doom. It’s like an epic and heeeeaaavy take on the style Ghost are playing.
7. Aborted - Vault of Horrors
Death metal super stars, literally! With a feature on all songs, from the likes of Despised Icon, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Cryptopsy, Archspire and many more, the whole record feels like a true celebration of death metal.
8. The Absence - The Absence
Peak old school melodic death metal. I still don’t believe they’re from Florida, I’m almost certain they are secretly from Gothenburg!
9. Devastator - Conjurers of Cruelty
Superb UK blackened speed/thrash metal! A bit more extreme than the new Midnight (which is still awesome) but I like Devastator just a little more.
10. Lutharo - Chasing Euphoria
Get ready for a frenetic ride, with their blend of power, thrash and melodic death. It often reminds me of famed canadien metal band, 3 Inches of Blood but singer Krista Shipperbottom handles all of the vocals. She has powerful screams and equally powerful and melodic cleans.
Some great picks on your list, mate! Love the descriptions, too. You're doing the community a huge favor.
Great list! Another great March release is INNER SANCTUM - THE GREAT ODD ONES. Its mixed by the guy who did Necrophagist‘s Epitaph. You should check it out! You wont regret.
Necrophopic and Aborted, great albums! Also
Altar Of Betelgeuze, Brodequin, Hideous Divinity, Hamferd, Vorga, The Bleak Picture, Civerous, Lhaäd, Alkhemia .......
I just spun Civerous today, WOW!
Dude, that Dodsrit freakin' rips. Love the melodic black metal + crust/punk
Yeah man, it rules
The Priest album is amazing.i also really enjoyed Coffins -Sinister Oath, Leather Lung -Graveside Grin, Atrophy -Asylum and Exhorder -Defectum Omnium 🤘
That Exhorder record nearly made it to my top picks!! Very cool record.
Awesome reviews!! You got me!!! First time I see you, already hooked!!! Keep on doing that...
Awesome! Thank you!
Fantano just gave the new Civerous album a 9. Doomy death stuff, havent listened to it yet but im gonna.
Nice! I’ll have to scope that
So many killer albums in March.

We miss a lot of records!
Muy buena selección como siempre, Saludos desde Uruguay
Gracias, Forgemate!!
Thank you for introducing me to new Metal 🙏
Our pleasure!
My number 1 of this month( and possible of the year) is from hamferd. Melodic death doom at its finest.
I love that band. I admit I haven’t been in the mood for that genre quite yet, and I’m so excited to spin it soon.
Killer metal month.
Personal 5 faves:
Lutharo
Priest
Necrophobic
Vltimus
Malphus
Liked a lot of your choices, but these 5 did it for me the most.
Finally about time for that MDB ranking? 👀
You know it 😘
Really surprised yall didn’t talk about Hamferð, it’s probably my AOTY at this point and seems up y’all’s alley.
Dodsrit, Hamferð, Aborted, Brodequin, and Vorga will all definitely factor into my EOY list. Looking forward to checking this video out and finding some new albums to listen to!
I was in a black / death mood this month. I love that band, I know it’s gonna be great once I get to it.
@@forgemastermetal would love to hear your thoughts once you do!
My dudes go for the new Austere record it's got that sad boy vibes with black metal sound 👌🏼
Hi Guys, thanks for another great show! Actually Judas Priest have been going for 55 years and not nearly 40... and yes it is a great album, just like you said and most probably a top 5 JP album. There are two albums I really gotta give a listen, "Dödsrit - Nocturnal Will" and "Necrophobic - In The Twilight Grey"! Keep up the great work, stay well and stay Metal 🖤🤘🖤
We stand corrected! Thanks for tuning in!
@@forgemastermetal You are most welcome!
Great list guys! You forgot Puteraeon this time. 🤘
We can't get to them all!
New Stress Angel was my favorite album of March. Killer retro death/thrash with some blackened parts.
Best part of the video was realizing you have Big Trouble in Little China and The Crow on at the same time
Gold star my friend
That Slimelord album really surprised me; a fresh innovative take on death/doom. 👍
I'd like to highlight the new Hideous Divinity album 'Unextinct'; perhaps their best album yet? 👌
But of cause the mighty Judas Priest stands above everyone else... 🤗🤘❤️
GOnna have to scope Unextinct! Thanks for the rec!
@@forgemastermetal Check out the track 'Leben ohne Feuer'; death metal masterclass! 👌
Ended up being a pretty good month, for me it was:
Boundaries - death is little more
Vorga - beyond the palest star
Midas Fall - cold waves divide us
Aborted - vault of horrors
De Mal En Pire - sã mo
Funny how my top 3 favorite albums of 2024 so far all came out the same day, March 22nd. They are:
1. Dödsrit - Nocturnal Will
2. Khold - Du Dømmes Til Død
3. Furor Gallico - Future To Come
My best bands of March: Dödsrit - Skeletal Remains - Aborted - Evoking Winds - Beyond The Hate - Chains Of Agony - Legacy Of Satan
I've been looking forward to this video.
That Judas Priest album was so good. Rob sounds incredible
I really enjoyed Coffin Storm - Arcana Rising it's a band with Fenriz and two guys from Lamented Souls. It's Old School Doom/Heavy Metal Early Pentagram and The Obsessed sound
Civerous - Maze Envy
Midnight - Hellish Expectations
Per Wiberg - The Serpent's Here
Dodsrit - Nocturnal Will
Civerous is such a gem
Got notice today that my Dödsrit vinyl is finally on its way! It will join Aborted, Vorga, Vltimas, and my favourite album from March: Hamferd! Fantastic Death-doom with the Iotunn vocalist.
Ooooo gonna have tobscope Hamferd!!
Guys, as always a thorough list, I missed a bunch (as expected). The new Priest album is ace. Midnight crossed my radar, but I haven't dove into the new one, thanks for the reminder.... if you all like it, then it certainly is a win!
Vault of Horrors is easily my AOTY right now.
Great list. For me though the new Brodequin wins by faaaaaaar in March.
I haven’t heard that one yet, thanks for the rec!
@@forgemastermetal no worries! I think you're in for a treat. I don't usually listen to brutal death metal, but that slapped me in the face hard.
Atrophy- Asylum (best thrash album of 2024 so far)
Blaze Bayley- Circle of Stone
Judas Priest- Invincible Shield
Critical Defiance - The Search Won't Fall
Savage Oath- Divine Battle
Dissarmageddon- No Liberty
Firewind- Stand United
Ironbound- Serpent's Kiss
Devastation- Rise of the Dead
Black Phantom- Horror Paradise
Achelous- Tower of High Sorcery
The albums that impressed me for the month of March were -
1. Early Moods - "A Sinners Past"
2. Beenkerver - "De Rode Weduwe"
3. Serpents Oath - "Revelation"
4. Lunatic Affliction - "Nerto Brixtia"
5. Evoking Winds - "Your Rivers"
6. Beyond The Hate - "Darkest Times"
7. Severoth - "By The Way Of Light"
8. Corpus Diavolis - "Elixiria Ekstasis"
9. Schattenfall - "Deaths Eternal March"
10. Atrexial - "The Serpent Abomination"
11. Alkhemia - "Abraxis"
12. Helsang - "Niflheim"
13. Riitasointu - "Pedon Leikki"
The albums that stood out for me were Beenkerver, Beyond The Hate, Atrexial and Riitasointu. Beyond The Hate is a great debut album, Riitasointu took me by surprise, Beenkerver reminded me of old school Emperor, but my highlight was Atrexial a fantastic solid Black Metal album from Spain.
I think I might have a problem. I listened to over 300 metal albums since the start of 2024, and I can't remember 99% of them.
Same to be honest.
That's too many lmao
Man March was filled with a lot of incredible albums. Here are my favorites of the month.
1. Dödsrit - Nocturnal Will (black metal/crust punk/epic heavy metal)
2. Volcandra - The Way of Ancients (melodic black metal/blackened death metal)
3. Vuosisata - Kuilu EP (atmospheric black metal/doom metal/depressive black metal)
4. Vorga - Beyond The Palest Star (melodic black metal/atmospheric black metal)
5. Skeletal Remains - Fragments Of The Ageless (death metal)
6. Slimelord - Chytridiomycosis Relinquished (death-doom)
7. Molten - Malicide (death metal/thrash metal/heavy metal)
8. Lunar Spells - Sacraments of Necromantical Empires (black metal)
9. Crystayler - In The Hearts of the Brave (black metal)
10. Coffin Storm - Arcana Rising (doom metal/heavy metal/thrash metal)
I also want to shout out the banger of a demo from blackened hardcore & speed metal band Deselect, who are from about an hour away from where I live in the Bay Area.
That Vorga album is insane. Finally got to it today.
Hamferð's new album Men guðs hond er sterk is amazing.
Nice pronunciation of chytridiomycosis. 😊
No idea if that was even correct lol
@@forgemastermetal definitely was 🤘
I can describe the Dödsrit album as Post Melodic Blackgaze. It's truly an amazing album.
It is!
Not the slime lord please anything but that 🙀🥺🥹😭
Those tentacles' gonna getchu
2024 is gonna be one of the best years for metal yet.
Also happy to see Messiah getting some love.
I can’t even keep up with all these every month lol
I can acknowledge that we're having a very productive output from today's bands but to be honest, 99% of it is just the remake of the remake made again. Same harmonic structures and progressions but with modern sound. By the way, nowadays, all albums sound good, polished, same snare / kick samples, guitar plugins, fx mixing plugins...all the same available for anyone to use. The randomness of old underground production is gone...so the spontaneous creativity and innocence we once had in new bands. The digital mkt strategies became more vital than art quality. Bands are more like brands today.
Yes, a lot of individuality is lacking sadly.
Skeletal remains clip
I am really enjoying ETERNAL'S new album, Cryptic Lust.
A lot of good ones here 😝 I loved Vorga, dodsrit
And Ukrainian group- waidelotte ❤
Spun Vorga today. WOW!

🔥🔥🔥
Do you guys have physical media in your collections, or is most of it streaming?
Vinyl for albums I absolutely love. Tbh, when I support a band I usually buy shirts.
if you like Symphonic Metal , Leaves’ Eyes - Myths of Fate
That album is cool! It very nearly made it to my top picks, but Judas Priest beat them out.
Grey Skies Fallen!
Great record!
Deception “Daenacteh” 🤘🏼
Nice pick! Why does that stand out for you??
@@forgemastermetal solid slab of melodic death. One of my favorite genres but they also mix in other elements and an organic orchestral section. Some nice technical skill while mixing in groove, variation in the vocals.
Dödsrit sounds great.
I mean their music, not their name.
I really appreciate these videos. I don't necessarily like everything, but, I always discover new shit that I dig. Kudos!
That's great to hear! We try to keep it pretty eclectic so EVERYONE can walk away with at least a couple records to scope, versus just tailoring it to death or black or doom metal subgenres only.
Dodsrit is way good 👍👍
The Crow
Good eye there pal!
Bruce Dickinson's The Mandrake Project?
Not on our radar this time!
@@forgemastermetal Better late than never.
8:34 leaked track titles for taylor swift's upcoming album
We’re in the know on these things
How is this the only BOTM list for March with DODSRIT on it? Scandalous. Hey, nerds, heres the rest of March in a nutshell(hope you find something new here). New releases from:

40 years? Judas Priests' first album came out 50 years ago.
Slimelord
Civerous
Apparition
Aborted
Volcandra
Thanks
@@forgemastermetal anytime keep up the great work
Wait a second... where's Hamferd🤔
This month was loaded w/ black and death metal, wasn’t QUITE in the mood for doom yet so I got to it late. 😛
you’re missing the actual best one of march… Apparition
NO MENTION OF VORGA??
We can't listen to all 100 metal albums that come out per month homie
Qual deles é o mais parvo? 😂😂😂
There are a lot of solid Christian metal bands weather you agree with their beliefs or not.
We’re working on a video about this right now
Thank you guys, well done as always. Almost agree. I think Aborted is getting too much credit for an album with just two good songs. Then, Christian metal... is not metal at all, it is to say that free alcohol whisky is still whisky.
Agree on Aborted.
Why show a video of you reading?
If it bothers you, don’t watch it. This is a hobby. Who cares.
Wow a lot of these bands suck
You could suggest bands you think are good.
