Question for everyone. I want to connect with my audience and make helpful content. Please let me know what videos you would like to see me make or specific things you’re struggling with. Slingshot for everyone!
I really struggle with throwing putters as I leared like most poeple throwing drivers/fairways. It seems putters need more spin or grip or touch when throwing them with run ups and I cannot do it. Unless it's an envy or super stable one, but those floating straight putter shots are what I'm looking for.
Would like to see more disc golf videos in general with tips on accuracy not just distance
Id like to see more of this kind of content applying form to shorter throws, its helpful to understand how to apply the concepts on shorter shorts as well as full power drives
Loved the tip within a tip within a tip 😄The golf vs disc golf alignment makes perfect sense! Time to go get those hours in
I've started implementing the use whatever is easiest for you to get there in my last couple rounds and started feeling guilty.. I needed to hear this thank you!
I’ve been there!
Thanks for the tips coach T!
In 1997 I hit a family of four on the interstate and fled the scene. I was never found.
What? Are you serious
One thing I picked up on disk selection from Scott stokley was to use the slowest disc that you can reach the basket with. And that can vary from person to person, and he's referring to a comfortable golf shot not a max distance drive, but the reasoning behind it is just for ease of numbers, say it's a 250 ft hole and you have a max comfortable consistent distance of 260 with a putter. So if your power Is 10% off trying to throw 250, you end up going long, and you've got an easy 15-ft comebacker. You throw that same shot with a mid and you're off by 10% power, this time you went long 40 ft and you've got a C2 putt for birdie. Most casual players are going to hit the 15 ft putt no problem, but a 40 ft is not a consistent range for most casual players. Maybe you've got a 50/50 shot of making it. Now consider using a driver, you're off 10%, Your disc just went 80 ft long, OB, and you've got a 60 ft comebacker just to save par. Chances are, you're getting a bogey. So that was his point in disk selection, the slower disc lowers the margin of error. But like you said, it is being honest with yourself and knowing where you are at. Just because someone else is throwing a putter 300 ft it doesn't mean you should. And there's no shame in throwing a different disc. I mean shoot, ohn scoggins will throw a destroyer on a 250 ft hole, and she'll park it. So definitely nothing wrong with it, if it works for you.
💯 thanks for watching!
Coach T keep em coming Sir. Any content that takes place at the course grabs my attention immediately. ThankYou
Good to know!!
I seem to always just go forehand when I need to hit a gap because I can face the target. I need to try your alignment out instead and just trust it. Thanks for the tips!
It definitely takes trust and getting used to
@@slingshotdiscgolf1897 Time to get those 10,000 hours...or maybe just the 2 hours for now
Theres someone parked in my driveway that looks just like coach T!
Yeah agree, 95% of hitting gaps is tee alignment, picking the right shot shape and knowing what your discs do.
I disc down to midranges a lot.. MVP uplink is just like a meteor for me, hyzerflips up and just holds. !
Coach T! Crazy we were just talking about all these things last night about my form. Super helpful and thanks for getting me back on track. Also going to buy a meteor now lol
I want to be sponsored by the meteor 😂
I definitely needed this video, thanks Coach!
You complete me!!
My accuracy is terrible. Thanks for posting this. After watching the DG Major the Challenge, you really need accuracy in this game. 350ft is all that is necessary. You need the accuracy more than ever. Three shots of 350ft is 1050ft and will be a par 5 so its not the distance we need as much as accuracy of 250-300ft. I remember doing these calculations in ball golf and used a 7iron for 150yd and was able to shoot in the upper 80's. Sure takes a lot of stress off the game. Use the mids for 280 footers and you'll shoot good rounds.
I like the walk around the disc form. I've been doing that and my lumbar back pain is resolving.
Keep these videos going. Completely understand it's tough having a job and family and not much time to put into DG.
Using the back leg has really helped me hit gaps better. Brings my rotation to the right spot so I can hit the target . 80% of the time it works every time.
I appreciate you Evan!
Coach T coming for us.
😂
Bro, I haven't watched your videos since I hit 600'...you look awesome man! Great job getting healthy and taking in less of that eggnog and pizza
😂 thank you
Tip 2 was my favorite, mainly because it had so much great content and ideas! Can really tell you grew up in high level sports
I definitely had an intense sports upbringing in Hoops.
Great content man! Very helpful. Keep doing what you do!
Thank you! I’ll keep grinding. Let me know what kind of content you would like
There is some research out there in the motor learning world that speaks to the number of reps recommended per training session to establish a movement within our neural pathway. IMO, that may be a interesting a relevant topic. The research is not specific to DG, but sports specific athletic movements.
Absolutely love tip 2! "Easiest" hole on my local is a 150ft downhill narrowing tunnel that ends with a 6ft wide gap with the basket 30ft long left. My backhand touch shots suck, so I usually just pop a forehand through the gap, fade to the edge of C1, and try my best to make a 30ft putt. My league is shocked one of the "good players" doesn't crush that hole.
I'd just much rather spend all day trying to eagle the 480ft par 4 instead (we'll get it one day 😤)
Love it!
THANK YOU
Your welcome!
Crows 😂
Love the tips!
Another great video!
Thank you!
I love this content :D
What do you do for work?
Also I love the idea of more content applying the slingshot to course play
I’m a full time backhand coach for work
I like throwing mids just because they're easier to grip and I get a cleaner release.
My big trouble with hitting gaps is figuring out how to walk up on some of these T pads and end up oriented correctly in that diagonal position.
Some of these T pads are pretty small, or narrow, at an angle, or the fairway is choked off on one side..
I feel like I need a compact walk up.
I agree 💯 the T pads at my home course are an absolute joke and I’m working to get them fixed!
@@slingshotdiscgolf1897 Do you have any tips for how to start a walk up straight in the direction your want to throw, but end up in the diagonal throwing position in that direction?
@@ViJt-oq5nqyes!
@@slingshotdiscgolf1897 I look forward to the video then!
Thanks for the video. One thing about disc selection, that you didn't mention is wind conditions. On a calm day, I know exactly which disc I prefer for a 280 straight shot. But if faced with a head wind or a cross wind, that disc might change. Can you talk about that too? Thanks!
Good call, I also didn’t mention height on low ceiling shots. I’ll make videos on those eventually. Thanks for watching and pointing that out!
I like the content. I’m struggling with anhyzers. Seems I can’t keep the nose down on mids or putters. Drivers are ok. Still occasionally nose up but mostly not.
Noted!
I hit up gap stores every time i see them. I like to go in and try on a whole bunch of clothes at once and come out of the dressing room looking like the Michelin tire fat mascot and waddle around in the store with 100 different items on. Then i ask the store employees if they can help me take of the clothes
What's basement life like?
@@da324 real nice
Super comfy will all them clothes on 😎
Love the content and seeing the slingshot applied on the course. I'd like to see more videos like this where you break down a hole or shots, going through your thought process and how it relates to your form. Seeing your hole 4 example feels relevant as I'm sure most people know a hole or shot like this on their home course.
You’ll be playing hole 4 soon 😂
Hi Climo and Feldberg mention similarities in their disc golf and ball golf swings. Do you notice any similar motion patterns?
There are some similarities for sure but also huge differences
If I aim for the tree, I will always miss :D
😂
Love this way of teaching. More practical when playing
I’m going to pivot to this style more often. Thanks for watching!
@slingshotdiscgolf1897 I hadn't played in months because it was cold and rainy. When I was playing the sling shot motion got me overthinking lol
Know thy disc...
Sweet disc golf bag!
Love the new content and seeing you on an actual course 💯
Thanks Mike!!
I swear i line up wrong on the teepad every time. But, i think i was legit lining up like you described in the start, the ball golf way. Definitely going try and adjust like you talked about. Thanks Coach!
Bless the trees... except on the course
Why does the roller want to come out at the end turning right even if it was straight the entire roll
99% people of play disc gold think they’re playing frasbee
If a hole eat your lunch, stay there till dinner
😂
I'd like to get to 300 feet
Thanks. And, the 10,000 hours rule... It is a myth. Not replicated.
Yes, practice to be good. As a coach ypu should know the science.
1. 10 minutes a day for 6 days is more effective than a 1 hour session per week.
2. More than 10 reps of the same exact skill doesn't add any more neurons that day.
3. Weave multiple skills together rather than repeating just one skill at a time.
4. Intentional practice is much more effective than just putting in the time.
