I also think it's just better than Karn in this cube, since it's so creature focused. Karn is great when you're level or ahead, but Elesh V can win you a game you were losing horribly.
At 1:42 I'm practically yelling at my monitor to Cast Out the Lily. You can't always tell if a play is objectively wrong, but casting a 3 mana Serum Visions was objectively wrong. Certainly would have won that game if he had gone for the Cast Out.
"We're gonna lose the game but they can *never* take that from us." Love it. Also, your intuition that you couldn't spread out sword damage was correct.
*drafts a blue/white aggressive deck, includes a 7 drop control card* - Yup, Marshall drafting. Brimaz is great, he blocks. *proceeds not to block the creature he just said Brimaz blocks...*
31:18 Don't block Hero, just make a copy of him on your next turn with Phantasmal image. It's an easy crack-back win. Lavamancer at that point could only kill 1 of your two tokens, giving you 8 power with them unable to block.
qazzaq Stan cast out on lavamancer, they burn a token or looter, then cast image, but you still get in for lethal... at least thats what I was thinking.
Don't you only have 5 mana? I need to check the video again and it is not loading. edit: Oops you already mentioned that, youtube is really giving me problems atm. Sorry about that.
It's busted. There's so many great spells to flash back, and it's just a lot of value for very little investment. There's plenty of big, powerful expensive cards in the cube to pick up, but cheap, efficient interaction is at a premium.
Jack Buttery You are completely right. Snapcaster is a constructed all star that sees play in every format in which it is legal. However, it was completely unplayable in his 5 spell deck...
No idea why this quality of a video is on the channel, it is obviously not educational nor entertaining but I still preferred to watch this instead of LSV spitting on his microphone
I can't help but think going monowhite would have been insane here.
I dunno about monowhite.
Snapcastering Spectral Procession and all those Crusades doe
criminal there's no Opposition
Can't pass that Elesh Norn. Especially with tokens, Elesh V is a winner. More powerful than Karn in this one deck.
My thoughts exactly, I was yelling at my screen and he hardly noticed her.

Marshall your one of my favorite drafters to watch.
Marshall never learning and still passing Chupacabras
Ha ha chupra
Oops I didn't mean to send that

Damn, 2nd OP knows how to build a modern cube deck
first pick snapcaster, proceed to pick.... 2 spells, only one of which is an instant? shrug. Great pics following that and a very cool resulting deck!

Lavamancer just kills your copy of Hero though unless I'm missing something, also I think greater garg could oddly go for a block there.
Well, it's Marshall!! Always trying to answer what the opponent has on the battlefield instead of killing the opponent themselves.

Aaand we needed another land for that line. All makes sense.

p1p1 not picking Chups! Old habits die hard.
Why do you think snap is thaaat good in this cube??

That windbrisk heights in match 2 Lol
1:28:00 ashiok stole procession lol
Casting Pact of Negation to win the game when you can't actually pay for it. That is *almost* as mean as Mana Tithe.
31:00 Brimaz could have traded with the Figure. Which probably would have been better.
last round opponent's deck looks suspect; not sure how it was 2-0 without blue trying to trade 1-for-1 against everything
Marshall.. soo weak :P U could have got an exellent white based aggro deck. Just fell for Karn; Bribery and so forth ;P
If you were going to cast out ashiok you should probably just have cast out quarantine field, stolen ashiok with silumgar, and -7 ashiok
Alex R I know that's how oblivion ring works because of its explicit wording, but does cast out work the same way?
it's not because of cast out, it's because Silumgar would enter under it's owner control, which is opponent.
its not his silumgar. watch the video, he even mentions this.
Oh duh, sorry. Whenever a creature returns from exile it automatically goes back under its owner's control. Sorry
1:07:44 why not cast out on the exile effect get silumgar target ajani then -7
the silumgar gets back under his OWNER control, I think he mentioned it at some point
That doesn't work
its not his silumgar. watch the video, he even mentions this.
Bribery is such a silly card.
Just because you’re forcing an issue by making your opponent do something doesn’t mean it’s good for you
I've found hero to be pretty mediocre in all the mtgo cubes, even this one. Just gets killed or walled by so many things and it's pretty slow.
True, but I think it's close to his favorite card. I've seen him draft that extremely highly 3-4 times now.
Unknownprofilegames Yeh, I think people place too much emphasis on how a card performed in constructed formats when evaluating cards in cube.
henkdachief ya I think it's good in white aggro, would definitely not second pick it after taking a snapcaster mage though
Jack Buttery You are completely right. Snapcaster is a constructed all star that sees play in every format in which it is legal. However, it was completely unplayable in his 5 spell deck...
Bromas trades with 4/4 figure not chump you should have made that block multiple times
Brimaz*
Bromas before hoemas
