Love this video! I am slowly starting a whole food plant based diet. When I started my journey towards becoming a Traditional Naturopath, the more I couldn't ignore how sick everyone is. Most people are so against plants, and there is so much knowledge and studies proving how amazing plants are for us. If you look at cancer patients who healed, they never say "I healed with an animal based diet". When you look at healing foods, they don't mention animal sources, it is always plants.
I am a vegan (for a decade) and people are so confused as to what vegan is versus a plant-based diet versus a whole foods plant-based diet!!! One is purely ethical and not a diet. And the other two are diets! For the health of my soul I’m vegan, for the health of my body whole foods plant-based all the way!!! Thank you for standing in this space where so much confusion and vitriol exists. You inspire me and I immediately shared this video. And I feel like I say this in all of my comments, but I’m saying it again, I love the Eat Move Rest meal planner!!!
I 100% agree with what you are saying, but I’ve started to hate the term “plant-based” because no one knows what it means. Marketing has ruined it so now If there is a plant anywhere in the ingredients they label it plant-based. We bought a “plant-based” frozen Philly cheesesteak….that actually had cow cheese. So annoying. 😢
How do you get enough taurine on a vegan diet? Ive been supplementing with some aminoacids after psychosis beeing vegan for 5 years. I also take nac n-acetyl cysteine. Taurine is only in animal foods. Or there is some taurine in nori but not so much. Maybe like 100 gr in 2 tbsp nori flakes. I also wanna be vegan so supplementing with some aminoacids now.
As a 15+ year plus vegan... One of the reasons I've seen that many people stop eating vegan is because they haven't explored the real reason WHY they are wanting to become vegan. Many times people are jumping into veganism because they feel that they can "lose weight quickly" or scared into it from watching a documentary and make a quick decision... I always suggest making a slow transition and see how your body is reacting to it. As with any change, if you aim to do it overnight you won't be able to consistently stay there.
This! The why is always important with any big change. Same with working out and being active, you get discouraged and lose motivation if you don’t have a why.
I was vegan for 10 years but then got sick 😣 . Got a b12 deficiency :(/. Also, I was a poor vegan because I was eating processed foods. My why of health left my mind when I got sick with a b12 issue. :( I am pregnant now and vegetarian and thriving now. I want to eat more whole foods plant-based and supplementing. Thank goodness I am now as a vegetarian wjth b12 and iron, vitd and a prenatal:)
i am vegan (wfpb) , and I am thriving!! People always ask me how do you get that glow? And i always reply eating my fruits and veggies!!! No one ever believes how old I am or that I have grown children! Eating this way , living this lifestyle is like drinking from the fountain of youth! people describe me as a boho yes hippie lady, and I totaly agree with that!!! Exercise off your stress ,soak up some rays, walk in nature barefoot! Learn to be thankful show your gratitude daily. Wake up with love and positivity in your heart! life is too short - sending you love and light
I adore you guys and your sweet little family. You really are looking at the small details here and doing the heavy lifting. Bringing some light into the harder areas of the lifestyle and addressing it with so much positivity. Thanks for doing it, you have inspired and empowered me for years now.
Anytime this amazing narrative gets too noisy I always feel more grounded when I listen to the both of you!! Thank you for always being a positive light in this crazy world!
Love you guys!! If you can convince Complement to lower their prices I would be all over that ;) . I tried them and liked them but it's $70 and then they charge you $10 shipping. It's just too expensive for most people. They could reach so many more people if it was more affordable.
Thanks Erin and Dusty! Love these. I definitely didn’t eat enough when I first adopted this lifestyle. Was sleepy all the time and losing weight like crazy. Time and patience was key for me. Now I’m thriving :)
My son is 25 and eats a SAD diet. He was having lots of weird symptoms and went to the doctor. He was diagnosed with critically low vitamin D levels and was also vitamin b-12 deficient. He had to be put on mega doses of supplements just to him him back into a normal range. I know some other parents with about the same age children, who have also been diagnosed with vitamin deficiency. I now believe that a whole generation of kids/young adults are suffering with these deficiencies due to all the “Franken-foods” they’re consuming and fear of sun touching their skin. I really hope people will open their eyes to the fact that they’re being poisoned and malnourished with the current health recommendations of our own FDA. So sad 😞. Thank you Erin and Dusty for spreading your knowledge 💚.
I agree my son is 25 to . I definitely believe he is nutrient defiant . Sadly because he is a adult he has to come to the place of change because he is fast food addict . I pray he changes everyday but it’s ultimately in his hands now as a adult although I will continually encourage but not nag lol At his age now parents can sound nagging I guess instead of concerned.
OMG...Italy retreat...I'm in!! About making a transition to a WFPB lifestyle...I feel like allowing yourself a bit of grace can go a long way. Progress over perfection. Any change you can make to help include more plants and less animal products is worthy! It's a journey for many of us.
So...not too long ago I found myself only eating animal products with dinner, and experiencing better overall health (consuming mostly whole food, plant based). Then I went back to animal products at all meals, cutting out fruits/veggies and had some other outside circumstances that landed me in the hospital. My hospital stay will probably end up about 4 months, but once I'm out this vid will be a big help for getting back in a positive, healthy direction. Thanks for the motivation!
Hi Erin and Dusty. I've been following you for a few years, and I was vegan for 7 years. I'm not vegan anymore after struggling for a long time. I don't agree with the notion that one size fits all. We are different, and our bodies are different. I had issues my whole life with low iron, and when I went vegan- it just went worse. I supplemented, i even had iron IV', I even used the ring (birth control) to reduce the amount of blood I was losing every month). I ate healthy and loaded with iron rich foods- my body was just not good enough in transforming these foods the way it does with eggs, fish and chicken (I didn't go back to eating mammals). Same goes for issues with lentils, beans- that made me bloated all the time (I soaked, sprouted, all the recommended things, didn't help). After experiencing such radical negative impact, and struggling for so long, I went back to eating animal protein, and I'm feeling much better. My blood tests are perfect. And I wasn't a junk food eater, I cook every day from scratch. I really don't appreciate the reaction of vegans to ex-vegans, these reactions are not kind, judgmental and not in place. Not everyone thrive on a plant based whole food lifestyle. Especially when it is online- from people who don't know you or your medical history. It is a very healthy diet- and to this day I am mostly hfpb- but it's not the answer to all medical issues.
I never once heard or got the vibe that they were going saying that all ex-vegans need to go back to being vegan and this is the way, I feel as though they are trying ti help all those who still want that lifestyle bur have not been successful in it yet. There must be something deeper in you that has let this trigger such a response to them simply trying to help others along their journey. No matter which way your journey takes you I hope it works out for you.
Appreciate you weighing! Just to set the record straight, we mentioned we are not targeting any specific person or their choices, this video was more so intended to ENCOURAGE those whom are aspiring to fully transition and make it stick long term. No judgment or superiority intended whatsoever! To each his own. Just doing our best to help those who might want it!😊💚👌
Oh, you all are so inspiring! My husband has been trying to get me on a plant-based diet for years. Last January, I was convinced he was right and we made the switch. We have two little ones similar in age to yours and excepting another in March. Our biggest pitfall is with feeding the kids. My 3 year old doesn’t like the replacement mac n cheese which is his favorite food. We are trying to work through that but I do cave in a lot.
Thank you Dusty & Erin for sharing this important information. My pitfall I didn't stick to a whole foods plant based lifestyle. I regret it. But with your encouragement I'm going to try again. YOU guys are the BEST. 🙏🏽🙂❤️
Replace before you remove!!! Love it so true!! I agree as well our body needs time to heal. I had eczema which is why I went plant based and it took a while for dairy to leave my system apparently it takes 8 weeks. My parents always ask me why is it that dairy affects me now if I’ve had it all my life. God has given us such great bodies that it’s been doing well for such a long time but after so many years of damage eventually we will see the results and we can’t expect to heal quickly when it took years for the damage to occur
Great video! Thank you for so clearly explaining why people fail on a vegan diet. Planning was the biggest game changer for me. Once I got that down, the rest fell into place 🙂It also needs to be said that these 'why i'm no longer vegan' people were never vegan to begin with, they were plant based for health and there's a huge difference. Veganism is an ethical standpoint against animal cruelty. Keep up the good work educating and inspiring people to live ethically and healthfully.
You all are amazing and have been so inspiring and informative along my Plant Based journey. I have been implementing this lifestyle for a little over 2 years now and it had changed my life but it is not always easy. You all have been a big motivator for me. I was hoping to go to Costa Rica the coming trip in 2023 but it just didn't work out. But I will definitely pass this on to some friends and fellow plant eaters lol as I know it will help and inspire them on their journey as well. Don't ever stop doing this and spreading the love. Sending you and your family all the love ❤️
Love this video! As a vegan, it is discouraging to see so many people falling off. I'm glad you guys are shedding light on common mistakes these people are making. P.s. I made your chili recipe for my husband last night and he said it is the best chili he has ever had! He was surprised because he never thought to put sweet potatoes in chili but says it is a must now.
My husband and I have been eating a mostly whole food vegan diet for just under 6 years. I'm pregnant with our first and I'm curious what your experience has been with your kids understanding veganism and what your thoughts are on if they express interest in trying non vegan food that family or friends may be eating.
Just love you guys and your WFPB messages. I’m not a perfect plant based eater but I try many of your recipes in the meal planner. Hard for me to 3-full meals a day. Lucky if I can get in two. I really liked the recipes for the 7-day detox. Great recipe varieties. Your Retreats are epic! Loved Costa Rica, unfortunately can’t make those long hikes in the forest very easily but appreciated all the help your guest gave me. Keep sharing the joy. Also, I do take Complement, daily, and what a difference in my hair and nails.
All great info but would love more in-depth advice on overcoming being the only plant-based eater in my social group. Also, I'd like to point out that it's great to hear Erin talk about her ups and downs within her plant-based journey bc it's exactly what newcomers like me are experiencing now. For the future, how are y'all planning to battle the thought of your kids being exposed to the typical yet unhealthy kid foods (when they go to school and see everyone eating nuggets for example)? I'm switching to plant-based cold turkey to heal my body to then be the best version of myself for my kids. Thanks for all the help!
Thank you for this video! I have been vegan (2nd attempt) for a few months now and love it. I do have some digestive issues, but I will not quit! Thanks for the information and encouragement!
I'm glad you guys mentioned how not all "vegan" products are healthy. People THINK they're eating healthy because they've eliminated meat, dairy, and poultry. But these "vegan" products contain bad oils, emulsifiers, natural/artificial flavor, added sugars, and others (msg/yeast extract, caramel color, dyes, carrageenan, maltodextrin). I've completely healed my anemia (which caused me to need a blood transfusion) and uterine fibroids by simply eating only fruits and veggies, and taking herbal supplements (that contain things like stinging nettle, red clover, sarsaparilla, irish seamoss, bladderwack, blue vervain, turmeric, black mulberries, dandelion, etc...). I do have a question: Is it normal for beans to give you gas? I've tried soaking and rinsing them for as long as 24 hours, and they still gave me gas when I cooked them. I'm thinking they're just not compatible with my body. All nut and seeds have the same effect on me (except hemp seeds, walnuts, and Brazil nuts).
Hi, just wanted to say I've loved this channel and your sweet family. I still watch even though I'm not vegan anymore. Discovered you during my vegan journey. I wanted it to work for me, but it just didn't. 18 months in and my health unfortunately suffered. My best friend however has been flourishing on a vegan diet for 10 years. I think we are all different. I suffer IBS and it was uncontrollably worse with WFPB. I did ALL the things, but ended up severely anemic and required 4 weekly iron infusions. Also lost my gallbladder due to such low fat intake, and now believe my hormonal issues were also related. I ended up with a hysterectomy. I'm feeling so much better now as an animal based omnivore going light on veg due to my gut issues. My running has returned full force and I have so much more energy now. Some people's bodies need way more fat than others, and the nutrients that come from animal products. I wish you all the best and will continue to watch!
I agree that we are all different and that not everyone will thrive jumping straight into a 100% WFPB diet but I do think that a vegan diet can be adapted to almost everyone needs. For example I struggle with whole grains and many fruit and vegetables. I eat more processed grains like pasta and potatoes for carbs and slowly introduce different fruit and vegetables until I no longer react to them. If you need more fat then there are always seeds, nuts and even a little olive oil. Green juices are also a great way to get iron and other vitamins and minerals without excessive fiber that some react to. Sometimes you just need to take it slow rather than just having an all or nothing attitude.
@@FM-qm5xs Yea but for me, it's tough with a gluten sensitivity and nut sensitivities and IBS. Believe me, I tried it ALL because I really wanted it to work. Got my plant based nutrition certificate from eCornell. But my health just went downhill. Kudos to those who thrive on WFPB but I'm so much more healthy now.
First - you have a BEAUTIFUL family!!! Mama, you look like Barbie. ❤ and your daughter is a darling angel!!!😇 I am 2 weeks into learning how to cook Gluten-free, vegan meals using ingredients that are also low carb/low sugar, organic and non-gmo for my aunt as a part of a holistic healing protocol. 🙏 She has never really cooked and is lacking the strength to try. I became a fairly good cook when I became a wife and mother, but never really enjoyed it. I'm also out of practice after living in my own for several years and have been eating snacks more so than meals. Fortunately, (and unfortunately 😂) my diet had been gluten free for almost a decade, but as for the rest? 🤷🏼♀️ The point... Thank you for making this video! It is the first one I have seen on your channel and am eager to watch more. May God bless your family. ❤
Hi Mary! Thank you for sharing and for watching the vid! I’m so glad you enjoyed it…we appreciate your kind words! Wishing you the best on your journey!!!🫶🏼
Is plant protein adsorption more difficult for the body?Is it true? Beans need rice to creat a complete protein? I try to build muscle and i struggle with vegan protein
You really are RUclips's treasure!!! 💖💖💖And it's unbelievable, how information about healthy living and getting well without all these chemicals is obstructed ... Thank you so much for what you're sharing and just for being you! I'm just trying to incorporate more raw foods each day. This takes so much planning ... Hope it'll be an easy habit soon.
Thanks for sharing this interesting & informative video Erin & Dustin. Yes, too many people are becoming ex-vegan or ex plant based dieters ( which would be the accurate title). Agree even non vegans are deficient in nutrients without supplements. Junk or processed foods regardless of whether they are animal or plant based because all the nutrients have been taken out of them, that's why they are called Junk or Ultra processed foods. Love 🥰 the video and love 💞The Stanczyks.
on processed foods; It might seem a lot of work to make your own but check out well your world; they show easy whole food plant based meals that are EASY to make in just 10 minutes (less time than it takes to drive to the drive through ;)
Can you do more “what my kids eat in a day” please? I am Part of a community Facebook group where I live. It’s a bunch of moms that can ask questions or advise about anything child or family related. I can’t tell you how many times I see posts about how their toddler or child is constipated!! Also, they don’t know what to make their child for meals but, think that the child needs to eat meat or milk. They get frustrated when the child doesn’t. I keep Telling people that dairy is definitely going to constipate them and not provide nutrients. It would be cool if I can Share meal ideas too! Thanks!
We just shared a good one last week! We will definitely try to do more to help others with more fiber-rich meals for kiddos! Constipation is unheard of around here!😂
@@EatMoveRest Of course!! Grateful to be here! Thank you guys for all you do, the information you provide, and the light you are/put into the world! Keep rocking it!! ☺️🌸✨🙏🏻🌱
I am on WFPB diet for 1.5. Years. My cholesterol is high, my triglycerides are high and my bad cholesterol is high. Do known How and from what? Also i feel very bloated all the time and hungry but still am on this lifestyle and I really am enjoying it. Bad thing is working long days and i am sitting all day. Working out in the morning and moving throughout the day.
I tried WFPB for several months about 2 years ago and I definitely felt my best UNTIL the bloating/indigestion which I was not prepared for and ultimately made me revert back to my old diet. Dusty you said you struggled with this also and I’m just curious what you took to help? I want to go back to WFPB but be better prepared this time!
I have familiar high cholesterol, my numbers were so bad on the SAD diet and my iron was low too even though I was eating all of those “iron rich” foods. Went vegetarian off and on and that brought my numbers down a bit, went completely vegetarian when my daughter was 3. Then I went whole food plant based about 8 months ago. My numbers were taken before I made the change and then about 6 months in, and my cholesterol is in the normal range, my iron is in the normal range, AND my hormone numbers evened out. And it kind of started seeing an ad for complement that had you on it, which I clicked and fell down the best rabbit hole possible. Something I’ve been learning about lately, and I’m wondering if Erin has worked with at all, is eating and exercising for each phase of the menstrual cycle.
That’s an amazing testimony, thank you for sharing, Amanda!! Honestly I am super in learning more about eating/exercising differently during different phases but have not done much research yet as I have been in the pregnancy and breastfeeding phase for the past four years!
Yes, have gone down rabbit hole with too many different, at times crazy, styles of vegan! This recap has snapped me back to the real deal! Thank u! Yep! Those kids are thriving! They are overload cute!!👼👼
I've been vegan since 2016 after looking for healthier ways to eat and running into several documentaries that left me sobbing on the couch for the animals. I could never eat another animal in my life. So I was a junk food vegan for about 5 years, excited every time a company came out with a new vegan product. In the last year, I've really been trying to switch to a plant based diet, for health reasons. I've been taking meds for high blood pressure for 20 years, and my doctor wanted to increase my BP meds AND put me on cholesterol meds because my cholesterol went over 200. I didn't want that, so I switched to mostly plant based and got both my BP and cholesterol down to acceptable levels in 3 months. But, there have been moments recently when I wished I never knew what happened to the animals and could just be more "normal" in social settings. I just went on a cruise, and I know I could have requested vegan meals in advance, but I'm just not that person. The chefs have thousands of meals to prepare, there's no way I'm going to request they make me something different. They offered vegetarian meals and I figured it wouldn't be too awful if I consumed just a little milk, cheese, and eggs for one week. I still felt guilty for all the mama and baby cows. As soon as I returned home, back to mostly plant based, with a vegan treat occasionally. But it's definitely hard to always be the social outcast. Sometimes I'd just like to stop and grab lunch or dinner with a friend without having to check the menu out first, or pay a fortune to order a salad and plain baked potato because there's nothing else on the menu I can eat. There are only a few vegan restaurants in the town I live in, and the meals there are strange for non vegans. Most of the you-tubers I watch just eat at home all the time, and even when they travel they stay in places where they can cook all their own food. I work hard, and when I go on vacation, I want to go out to eat and have people serve me, not stay in my hotel and heat up rice and beans and frozen veggies! Like I said earlier, I will never eat or wear an animal ever again, but I do understand why some people go back. I had an ice cream cone on my cruise and felt guilty, and that sucks.
It's better to eat the whole food vs the processed oils. I would say organic grass-fed beef is healthier than vegan burgers and a lot of people are healthier eating that way.
You are so inspirational and knowledgeable! I love what you stand for and the way you express it is so beautiful. Thank you for everything you share with us. Can’t wait for the next video ❤ from Canada 🇨🇦
I have been a vegetarian for 26 years and tried several times to become vegan but always failed, because of protein. I cannot digest beans and legumes at all. Does not matter how I prepare them. Any tips? Also my daughter does not eat beans and lentils. She does not even try. I would be very grateful for any advice.
Choose higher protein veg (cruciferous + leafies) in general, and opt for the pseudograins over regular grains. That way, you can optimize protein per carbohydrate calorie (ie, instead of having beans + grains, just do pseudograins which are closer to an in between macro profile)
I also don’t think you have to be either or. Of course, WFPB is preferred but if it doesn’t suite your lifestyle then that’s totally fine too. 80-90% WFPB is perfectly fine too.
You can try fermented vegetables like kraut or Kimchee to eat with meals, water kefir and kombucha can help with digestion, drinking a small glass of water with a little apple cider vinegar prior to meals can help. Also, sprouting your lentils and beans make them easier to digest, not sure if you tried that.
Would you do a video on how much you each eat? The quantity? You show your meals but is that for just one, or both of you. Also is compliment in addition to your other vitamins?
I’ve recently gone back to Whole Foods plant based because I couldn’t take how I was feeling anymore. Lol I’m the only person I know who eats like this and it’s so hard to stick to it. My hubby is a keto man. Which in turn makes it really hard when I haven’t planned. I’ve been going through the change of life and it was awful every time I ate meat n cheese. So that has made it easier to stick to this time. Lol The body tells me I swear. Question!!!! ? Every time I take oil out of my diet my skin gets dry. I kinda feel like I need the oil. What are your thoughts on that?
You could try to include more avocado, nuts and seeds too! But ultimately, if your blood word shows healthy cholesterol levels and you aren’t experiencing any adverse effects like indigestion, heartburn, weight gain, or poor elimination due to the oil, then you should be fine using it!
For me I wouldn’t consider myself calling vegan because I still eat white meat (which is chicken, Turkey, & some seafood), but I do consider myself plant based & I haven’t change my mind & not planning to change my mind. My issues is not having a lot of information on plant based recipes & living with people who don’t share the same lifestyle as me.
I think a lot of people are moving away from any kind of restrictive diet - by that I mean any diet with a specific set of rules and things you simply cannot eat if you want to claim you’re following that diet. I think the idea of Intuitive Eating is starting to grow, which I love and I follow, but for many people (like I assume with you guys) it can feel perfectly intuitive to crave only plant-based food because of how it makes you feel and how tasty the food you make is. I think it’s those who are vegan because they assume it’s healthier but they eat the processed stuff because they still crave meat and dairy. And then it doesn’t make them feel any better and it can be more expensive so they give up and give into what their body is telling them it wants. And restricting leads to binging so when they feel so satiated and satisfied after the indulgence, now their opinion completely turns around and they’ll tell anyone who’ll listen how miserable it is to be vegan. This is my theory anyway 🤷🏼♀️
I love eating WFPB but I struggle to eat enough. I just am not able to eat the volume of food to give me enough calories and nutrients. Any recommendations? Thanks guys! Love you and your channel! ❤
im having a lot issues pain and so forth i think its lupus ive had epstein barr when i was a kid how do you organize your life?! i wiling to do this again but its hard when The kids and hubs aren’t eating the same stuff that I would be eating they eat fish and meat and stuff so that’s a lot of stress and stuff as well
i was in the hospital and they wouldn’t let do plant-based while there. i had Nutrition by V on phone showing her wtf they wanted to me cuz i was up I was plant-based for 3years and I got pregnant had a miscarriage while plant-based--- I also had one when I was eating animals as well .had an MC in October 2012(I wasn't then), and May 2019(plant based). i was going V* for turning 30 blah blah you know new years but no it was december 26th i went coldturkey Anyways, I went because of weight loss(i didnt lose alot or enough, never made it back to healthy BMI range since i was a kid - at 18) Got
If our soil was rich in what it needed, and our plants were farmed the way they should (so all circumstances were perfect), would we still need to supplement on a vegan diet? That’s my biggest barrier. :(. The reason I say this is that a mostly plant-based diet with a small amount of high quality dairy, meat, eggs, and fish will usually cover a need for supplementation.
Animal products carry too many negative consequences to health for us to justify consuming them, and yes, with proper soil intact on our produce and water we’d be fine without the B12 supplementation.
hello! sorry things are not great, you have both been really inspiring regardless! I have been veggie for 3 years but these vids are really inspiring me to be vegan, keep doing what you are doing no matter if the income comes down. All your subs, and people that get inspo, will appreciate it :)The economy is not doing great at the moment so don't take it personally! I'm from the UK and now 1 dollar is equal to a pound essentially! anyway, have a lovely day, you both have definitely helped me, and lots of other people too! why would they be subscribed otherwise?
My observation and experience is that those who fail have a either non existent or weak “Why” they choose to be Vegan. So the conviction is not solid so at the first or toughest challenge they start to cheat and once one allows cheat moments, it’s almost always the track that derails. So many times I meet new people where in conversation they hear my lifestyle is vegan and most then reply “ Oh I was for a while too” or “ I couldn’t sustain it ……” I usually don’t ask why I just find it pointless unless they ask further questions on how I do stay on this lifestyle.
I took an objective, suck-it-&-see approach & a moderate animal/plant ratio produced far better results (physiological) than a very low animal/plant ratio (9 mo). Clearly not being a herbivore, the 'why' became a moot point, as I'm not sacrificing my health for an atheistic ideology.
My 'why' was to be heathy. When my health deteriorated greatly I stopped. I did it all to pull it together and even had my plant based nutrition certification. It's unfair to blanket state that anyone who couldn't sustain it just wasn't trying hard enough. At some point, when all efforts fail, you have to do what's best for your health.
@@gigih.2169 it’s been my experience with coaching people, they automatically go into panic and believe eating plants is the culprit as to why they can’t heal. 9 X out of ten it never is. Most fail to realize the damage didn’t happen over night there was a long road of choosing non health promoting factors. So transitioning to eating more plant based is going to expose just how much the body has to expel the negative choices from years before. Improvements happen quick and then another layer of symptoms can be revealed. It all depends on the level of build up in the body on how long it takes to be revealed that there is more healing need be done. My 17 years of eating plant based has shown me and from watching others transition along the way that there is always healing that happens sometimes subtle other times with a bang. Aloha 🌺
@@giselafiege7169 You are very lucky. Have you read Sally K Norton's Toxic Superfoods? Trust me, for me it was the plants. I lost my gallbladder to incredibly low fat, my uterus to endometriosis from lack of fats and other nutrients. I ended up with 4 iron infusions for lack of iron, and IBS that nearly caused me to lose my job. Fun how basically the week I went meat based and eliminated plants I cured my IBS. It's been several months and I'm the healthiest I've ever been in my life. And I did not start veganism unhealthy. I ate a standard "healthy" diet of fruits, vegs, whole grains and lean meats. I was athletic and of ideal size. I felt miserable on "THE" healthiest diet-veganism, but could not bring myself to see it as the diet. I just figured I had bad genes. Now, thank the Lord, I'm 52 and so incredibly healthy. The plants were killing me.
I started My family on a B12 supplement. Some are not vegan and some are. I know- talk about a stressful eating environment! Anyway, how often should we take that? Do kids need a specific kind?
Liquid methylated B12 (most bioavailable/easiest to absorb) is our fave. Best way is to take it sublingually (under the tongue) and hold it in the mouth for around 15sec. We do it in the AM before first meal!
How do you suggest I substitute my toddlers morning and evening milk intake? Even Store bought almond or oat or coconut milk has additives. If I make it at home, my toddler can feel the rough texture in her throat (she’s sensitive to good texture), so I’ve really got no where after trying different tactics. She goes through phases where she’s gone from drinking green juice and smoothies to not wanting to eat any greens. As parents of toddlers sometimes if feels like our lives revolve around kids. Pls suggest some workable options
The best option nutritionally would be organic soy milk…it has the most healthy fat, protein and iron. WestSoy has one that’s USDA organic, and only contains soybeans and water. We don’t rely on plant-based milks much, honestly. We get our nutrition from foods instead and use milk just to add to things like oatmeal. Focus instead on health macros from foods like whole grains, beans and legumes as well as lots of healthy fats from nuts, seeds and avocado!
My struggle is getting my older kids who just love sugary stuff and are really picky to go back to eating healthy again. I am all alone here. My husband is also not a good example. He's over weight and doesn't care to change his eating habits.
My pit fall is that I don’t like enough vegetables Beans make me fart and I already have a bad problem with this Any tips ?? Please help I have Autoimmune disease, high cholesterol, gut issues
I second following Dr B. Also, trying vegetables in lots of different ways. Try them steamed, sautéed, roasted, BBQed, in soup, in casseroles, shredded and added to breads/sauces…
I struggle most with cheese. I tend to get stomach issues if I go to long not eating cheese or processed foods. Like my stomach is cramping and distended and my brain is foggy. Is that just something to fight through?
Definitely sounds like detox symptoms. When your body is so used to those kinds of foods and you stop the intake abruptly or too quickly, your body will feel depleted. Like they said in the video, find things to replace these foods with and then go SLOWLY. Only have cheese every other day for a week or two, then once or twice a week for another 2 weeks. You have to start training your body to create its own energy from the healthier foods your putting in it instead, as opposed to relying on quick hits of energy from processed junk food. Same rule applies to incorporating raw vegetables and beans & legumes: introduce them slowly and over time to help your gut get accustomed to digesting these things to avoid heavy bloating and flatulence. Hope this helps!
you made me lol with your junk vegan characterization. Back in the nineties i would have TOTALLY chosen the canned peaches, fries & cigarettes way of doing it. My bottom dollar always went to gigs and record stores hahaha
Personally I eat plant based at home, but don’t feel it’s worth inconveniencing others, (most of my family despise veganism) and for me I enjoy eating out, don’t do it often but I’m not willing to give up that small joy and eat before and diminish the point of even going out together so when we eat out or with family we’re more flexible and eat what we want/what they’ve made and at home (90-95% of the time) we eat healthy, whole food plant based 😁 it doesn’t always have to be all or nothing either.
So! A 100% PB diet has only been possible (theoretically) since the availability of supplements. Before that, it would have been deficient. For me, WF omnivore returns great results, without any supplementation.
And social media has only been available since technology, toilets have only been possible since plumbing, smoothies have only been possible since blenders…we are eating this way because it is optimal for us! Supplements were created because nutritional gaps were cropping up…due to no longer spending enough time getting adequate sun (no D3) and our soil depleted, produce hyper-sanitized, water treated (no B12), and so on and so forth.
@@EatMoveRest Fair play! All I'm stating is that you've decided upon a lifestyle which has proven extremely "sub-optimal" for many. Do you believe that humans are natural herbivores or is your argument that they could be, with the help of "technology"?
@@EatMoveRest The Blue Zones research disagrees with you, as no traditional, longevity diet has been "vegan". What do you see as the flaws within a WF omnivore diet?
My biggest fail is not being vegan anymore. I was a vegan for a year and a half and truly felt amazing. I was even a vegan when I was pregnant, then a couple months after I had my son my family started telling me that I need to have bone broth chicken soup, especially because I was breast-feeding and that my son needed it. So I told myself OK that is all that I’ll have, but then eventually I started eating more meat and I didn’t know where to stop. So every couple weeks I’m trying to get back to eating plant-based, but I have gotten so good at failing because my husband isn’t vegan and no one in my family is. But I continue to watch your videos to remind myself that I need to try to get back, and succeed. I’ve done it before, so I know I can do it. For starters I need to only buy animal products just for my husband, and not eat it and meal prep for myself.
I hear you. Im the only vegan in my family. My husband eats meat. He is pretty much dairy free and I supplement some meat with beyond crumbles and gardein meatballs sometimes to limit his meat. I hate making meat. I am vegan first for ethical so meat grosses me out now.
Millie J- I feel Like we are living the same life. Lol! I wanted To go vegan when I was Pregnant with my last child. My husband freaked out and thought that I would not be giving baby enough nutrients. Obviously, he didn’t do his research. Anyway, I STILL after a year, am going back and forth with being WFPB! I do Good for about a week and then fall off the wagon. It’s so hard when your family isn’t eating the same as you. My life is busy enough. I don't Want to be making 2 separate meals all the time! So, I give in and eat the dinner that I make For the family at night because, I’m tired at the end of the day. One of my kids I think Is going to be vegetarian. He really does not enjoy meat but, still likes dairy. Maybe I can Work on him more. Anyway, I feel What you’re going through, girl!
@@melindalachapell4478 it’s tough when we’re surrounded by it. My background is Serbian my family only cooks meals with animal products in it unfortunately. We just have to keep on trying because when we do eat Whole Foods plant based, the feeling and the energy you have after is the best. I understand how your life is busy, I have a one year old, so I can imagine when you have multiple kids and a husband to cook for. Try to take an hour and a half yourself, I find that will help and give us the motivation. We got this 🙌
Dear Erin, dear Dusty, I pray for you, that your channel will gets the appreciation it deserves. I wish, that hundreds of thousands will watch your videos and learn (for free!) all the healthy advices. I learned so much from you, I got all your ebooks about the phenomenal vegan bundle this summer. And I will order your app in the next time, too. I have spondylitis ankylosing and also hashimoto. I have to take my medication but I can do so much with my nourishment, too. I am on my way to be vegan, it is not easy, because I am the only one in my family. But with your help I will make it. I know I can never afford to come to your retreat, but I am always looking for your videos. Thank you, sweet guys and GOD bless you🙏❤.
If you’re vegan for the victims - the animals, which is what being vegan really is - or should be, then it’s a piece of vegan cake. I’ve been an ethical vegan for 33-34 years, and a strict WFPB eater for most of that time. ❤️
Love how you worded that…vegan for your soul and plant-based for your diet. Thanks a bunch for sharing! We appreciate your support!
@@mmk82758 so frustrating!!
Vegan for the victims - the animals. ❤️
Beautifully said! So glad you’re walking the walk!💚
I adore you guys and your sweet little family. You really are looking at the small details here and doing the heavy lifting. Bringing some light into the harder areas of the lifestyle and addressing it with so much positivity. Thanks for doing it, you have inspired and empowered me for years now.
I've been vegan 4 years. Working on being fully WFPB. 67 years old. Just had extensive lab work done. My numbers are better than ever.
Great to hear!
Anytime this amazing narrative gets too noisy I always feel more grounded when I listen to the both of you!! Thank you for always being a positive light in this crazy world!
So glad!
Love you guys!! If you can convince Complement to lower their prices I would be all over that ;) . I tried them and liked them but it's $70 and then they charge you $10 shipping. It's just too expensive for most people. They could reach so many more people if it was more affordable.
For sure, we will relay this to them!
Yes this is so True. Thx for sharing this. I tought I was alone in this
Thanks Erin and Dusty!
Love these. I definitely didn’t eat enough when I first adopted this lifestyle. Was sleepy all the time and losing weight like crazy. Time and patience was key for me. Now I’m thriving :)
Omg, seriously!
I was actually having a difficult day, this makes me smile so hard!💓
It’s really crazy how common this problem is, and how easily preventable it is! Glad they found the problem and addressed it…
Keep leading by example and educating when you can!
Thank you for making this. Good point about the successes not being broadcasted in the same way as the failures are.
Try cooking in a cast iron pan, you get iron cooking in the 🍳 pan..👍🥳
Just doing our best to help those who might want it!😊💚👌
My story as well.
@@dottiea.2186 I don't think that a cast iron will benefit me more than iron IV"s I've been getting and didn't help.
Yes, you definitely have to read the labels...
For sure!
This video was refreshing. Good video and good points of view! Thank you
So glad!
So Glad Laura, thanks so much, would love to have you come to Costa, we have a few spots left on our second retreat!!
Wow! What a wonderful episode! Every point made is so right on and substantive! Thank you very much!😊
All great info but would love more in-depth advice on overcoming being the only plant-based eater in my social group.
Wow that's awesome. Try adding a tbsp or two of vinegar after you've cooked your beans.

Thanks!

Thanks for being so inspirational!!!
This was so helpful, thank you both!!
Hi , this is so a great, wonderful en learning video. Thanks for making and sharing. It really helps. ❣️
Thanks for the tips!
You got this! Thanks so much Mary!
Thank you for this valuable information and encourgagement!!!
You are na amazing family^^ thank you for sharing**
Thank you for this. It is definitely encouraging to me as my goal is a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle soon 🥰
Thank you for your work and information flow 🙏❤️
It's better to eat the whole food vs the processed oils. I would say organic grass-fed beef is healthier than vegan burgers and a lot of people are healthier eating that way.
You are so inspirational and knowledgeable! I love what you stand for and the way you express it is so beautiful. Thank you for everything you share with us. Can’t wait for the next video ❤ from Canada 🇨🇦
I love Complement !!! Thank you for sharing
Various soy products: tvp, tofu, tempeh
Green smoothies with jam packed green leafies!
Spirulina, chlorella
Pseudograins (ie quinoa)
Sea vegetables
Seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, flax, hemp, chia, etc)
Soaked/sprouted brown rice.
Would you do a video on how much you each eat? The quantity? You show your meals but is that for just one, or both of you. Also is compliment in addition to your other vitamins?
Great questions. I, too, am anxious to hear your answers about volume of food and supplements. Thanks so much for all that you do!!
The highest standard in supplements to my knowledge is Quantum Nutrition Labs (public)/Premier Research Labs (through practitioner).
I’ve recently gone back to Whole Foods plant based because I couldn’t take how I was feeling anymore. Lol
I’m the only person I know who eats like this and it’s so hard to stick to it. My hubby is a keto man. Which in turn makes it really hard when I haven’t planned. I’ve been going through the change of life and it was awful every time I ate meat n cheese. So that has made it easier to stick to this time. Lol
The body tells me I swear.
@@EatMoveRest
Awesome, I’ve always had low cholesterol
Oh, I eat nuts seeds and avocado lol

Sounds pretty spot on! Makes sense, thanks for weighing in!
Will you be offering your recipe book in print?
What happens when the supplements are no longer available due to food chain breaking down as we are seeing...
I love eating WFPB but I struggle to eat enough. I just am not able to eat the volume of food to give me enough calories and nutrients. Any recommendations? Thanks guys! Love you and your channel! ❤

@@EatMoveRest Thank you so much for your response!
hello! sorry things are not great, you have both been really inspiring regardless!
That makes sense! Your why is SO hugely important, for sure!

Can you help...Surgery coming up no clue what to eat pre/post operations.
Very helpful! Being vegan gets so much easier once you get acquainted with these life hacks 😃
My struggle is getting my older kids who just love sugary stuff and are really picky to go back to eating healthy again. I am all alone here. My husband is also not a good example. He's over weight and doesn't care to change his eating habits.
Weird, I subscribe to the channel but this video doesn’t come up in my subscription vides 🧐
Great video thanks 🙏
🤔🤔🤔
😍😍 you guys are awesome
My pit fall is that I don’t like enough vegetables
Beans make me fart and I already have a bad problem with this
Any tips ?? Please help
I have Autoimmune disease, high cholesterol, gut issues
Definitely check out Fiber Fueled and the Fiber Fueled cookbook! Dr. B can help with these issues!!
Haha yep
People leave vegetarian/vegan lifestyle for different reasons. I’m not vegan nor vegetarian, but I do enjoy vegan/vegetarian foods.
Very true, thanks for sharing JaeCee
Herbivores for many reasons, and able to thrive! Even though we are capable of eating many things doesn’t necessary mean they are all optimal…
@@EatMoveRest The Blue Zones research disagrees with you, as no traditional, longevity diet has been "vegan". What do you see as the flaws within a WF omnivore diet?
We don’t need animal products to thrive, so we choose not to consume them.
Hopefully this helps!
Ugh so sorry to hear, just do your best and forget the rest! Reach out to me on instagram if you ever need a boost!
I hear you. Im the only vegan in my family. My husband eats meat. He is pretty much dairy free and I supplement some meat with beyond crumbles and gardein meatballs sometimes to limit his meat. I hate making meat. I am vegan first for ethical so meat grosses me out now.
I have been a vegetarian for over 45 years now. I can’t imagine eating an animal or even having to cook one, yuk!
We got this 🙌
I don’t see the code

I would imagine the keto/low carb influence is moving some away from the vegan lifestyle.

Cant you make a list of suplement that you use. Vegan
If you’re vegan for the victims - the animals, which is what being vegan really is - or should be, then it’s a piece of vegan cake. I’ve been an ethical vegan for 33-34 years, and a strict WFPB eater for most of that time. ❤️
