    Botswana is such an amazing country and an underrated one even in Africa. Respect from Nigeria. After colonialism, the leadership under Seretse Khama didn't simply do as other post-colonial African leaders did i.e. he didn't go full marxist authoritarian and instead kept the institutions and socio-economic model the British had built up and even modified it. Plus, he maintained good diplomatic relationships with the west and due to his sound leadership, Botswana continues to be a politically stable and economically stable and growing country in Africa and this is despite being between two basket case countries of Zimbabwe and South Africa (Zimbabwe 2.0)

      So other African countries hurt themselves with Pan Africanism then? Pragmatism is certainly strategic. It is mainly saying let us work with what we have and make use of it instead of being angry. I do sympathize with other African countries for being anti Western but maybe they should have looked forward and worked with the West as bussiness partners? I suppose they suffered hard under the white supremacy so they became bitter. Perhaps Botswana's luck came from not being exploited as we didn't have much to offer so the West left us alone. The desert like country was hard to get to and had no resources to pillage. It is a very complex situation that is not straightforward to judge and compare to other situations in ither countries

      @the8thchurch461 well said, friend. Pan-Africanism, like Pan-Arabism, is just another delusional collectivist ideology with no practicality and it just emboldens corruption. Perfect example is in the three Sahel countries that recently had coups backed by Russia. Multiple people here kept praising the coups as "removing neo-imperialism" yet now Russia is in control of the gold mines of these countries and Islamic insecurity has gotten worse and is threatening the rest of us in West Africa 😔

    • @orboakin8074
      @orboakin8074 Месяц назад +4

      @the8thchurch461 also, Botswana's situation was not due to luck or lack of exploitation or no threats. They had several. They are landlocked, have poor geography, faced the threat of annexation by Rhodesia and had little resources yet they overcame all these by good leadership of Seretse Khama and good culture and socioeconomics. Zimbabwe should be richer and more developed than them but that didn't happen. South Korea is a perfect example. They were under brutal imperialism from Japan and yet they are one of the most developed countries in Asia. Being oppressed is not a significant hindrance to development.

    • @orboakin8074

      @@the8thchurch461 you are correct about Pan-Africanism. It's just another delusional collectivist ideology that encourages corruption. Example is in the recent coups in the Sahel. Many were cheering them on as "stopping neo imperialism" yet now Russia is in control of their gold mines and insecurity has gotten worse for the rest of us in West Africa.

      @@orboakin8074 hello brother, I would like to correct you there about South Africa. South Africa is not a basket case, South Africa is an African giant, it feeds most of Southern African nations with Agricultural produce and other non perishable goods. Safe to say its has had its own fair share of problems just like any nation it's not perfect. Every nationality flocks there including your own citizens, let's put respect on them

      @the8thchurch461 Месяц назад +2

      Wow. I need to go back home to Botswana. The Israelites? This is serious. It really is due to Batswana's nature of the ruling classes knowing which side their bread is buttered. They didn't look down on their subjects but saw them as integral to their elevated position. All rulers should be like this to avoid being taken to the guillotine like the French did to their Queen. A ruler is there because of the people, not by divine providence. Respect the people and be part of them Instead of stealing the nation's wealth and hiding it in Switzerland.

    Accepted multi party democracy and free market economics, clean elections where the losing government steps down, free speech, free press, low corruption. Doing the right thing instead of getting hung up on blaming the west, colonialism and slavery for all their problems. That's why they are winners. The rest of Africa would do well to follow suit. Imagine an Africa of 54 Botswana's? We would be an economic super power on par with the US and EU we just need to start adopting the right mindset and stop whining about dead colonialists while supporting living dictators.

      I disagree cuz if you were to compare this beautiful country with others, u will find out peace and stability in Botswana are reigning as compared to other African countries as we've just witnessed with the peaceful transfer from a party ruling for 58 years to another. This would under normal circumstances result in civil wars and the likes. It is this peace ,along with other factors like leadership, that make us unique from other African countries. So this isn't just another country in Africa, this is Botswana ngwanaka, where we celebrate our culture proudly and enjoy the beauty of our wildlife.
