    I was fortunate enough to get my Hercules saw during a black Friday sale in 2019 for $299. I also got the folding portable Hercules miter saw stand at the same time. I think it was on sale for $149. I have been using the heck out of them since. Aside from the less-than-perfect dust collection, I have zero complaints. Mine was perfectly aligned out of the box. It has been a great tool and I expect to get many years of trouble-free service.

    I don't think your fence was sliding... it appeared you didn't pay close attention to making sure your boards were tight to your block. For one group, there was probably at least an 1/8" gap between the stack of boards and your block! :)

    I currently have a 10” single bevel sliding saw, Tool Shop from Menards. Probably very comparable to HFs Chicago Electric. Have had it for 6 years, had a kickback that broke the safety shield over the blade. Menards is absolutely useless in finding the part number and I am to blame for losing the manual, my bad! The internet sends me to Ryobi saws for some reason. But I have been researching the Hercules miter saw. For my uses, I rarely need precision cuts as a don’t do cabinetry, but I want an accurate saw in case I need it. The cost of the Hercules is very reasonable for the quality and I will probably buy one. The other options are the Chicago Electric 12” sliding dual bevel or the Bauer 12 dual bevel. The CE comes with a laser and no blade. Bauer is a few $s more but has a blade, no laser, and does not have a slide. The Hercules has the shadow light, slide, and probably is higher quality. This review probably convinced me to lean heavy to the Hercules.

    I’m a retired ProfessionalWoodworker now retired and that Hercules line at Harbor Freight does appear to be a decent Upgrade from their older ChicagoElectric Line it’s definitely trying to Compete with the Dewalt 12” Sliders which are IMO the most versatile Miter Saw for Woodworking but their failure comes with Age and Use because they do get Sloppy and knocked out of Adjustment very easily therefore for myself personally i Own and use the dewalt 12” DualBevel Compound Miter Saws for the Crew of 40 Installers i had Installing ArchitectualWoodwork i did use the Dewalt Sliders , and i tried to keep them Tuned Up and dialed in FYI my personal Saw does not get transported very often unless it’s done by myself carefully , the other ones do get Transported by a team of Truck Drivers and do get bumped around and sometimes Chained up on a Job for security mine is kept inside a Secure building and has remained Accurate for over 25 years i do usually purchase my Saws at Price Costco because of them being one of the lower priced RetailStores inmy area on that model i do like the Hercules having the 14” Blade for that extra capacity on doing Moldings in the past i’ve h to build Custom Hand Miter Boxes to cut some of the Larger Crowne Mouldings On Site and we used Hand Saws and Tapered Shims and blocks to hold things in place for Accurate Cuts but that is time Consuming and Time costs Money as the old saying goes Unfortunately inCustomWoodworking in order to keep the work flowing you need to cut Pricing to stay Competitive so sometimes that hurts you in my Companies case we had the Machinery in House to make the Mouldings and that’s why we took those jobs on because overall the Company profited

      The Hercules saw was copied from Dewalt, they made some improvements that they thought it needed.
      They have great warranty, I got the extended Warranty which started 90 days after purchase. Just before the warranty expires take it back to HarborFreight and tell them it won’t stay in adjustment. They will give you a new one no questions asked.
      Buy the extended warranty again for $60, you will have another 15 months to use it before getting another replacement.

    • @im2yys4u81
      @im2yys4u81 3 года назад +1

      If you're referring to a small baggie with 2 torx head set screws and 2 e-clips they go on the table extension. Look at your tool extension and you'll see a small hole; that's where the e-clip goes, but you have to put them in from underneath the table. The set screws are to lock the table extension in place, the e-clips are to keep you from pulling them all the way out. In the event you forgot to lock them down, you wouldn't risk losing them while moving the saw from one location to another.

    I thought about getting a Hercules saw but the warranty is pretty pathetic. It only comes with a 90 day warranty. If you want a one year warranty then that will cost you another $80. Parts availability for these is questionable too so if it breaks after the warranty then you might be stuck with a saw that can't be fixed. I can get a DeWalt for about the same price so I am going to go with that instead. The warranty is better and parts availability is not questionable.

    This saw may be okay for framing and basic construction, but anyone doing real trim or carpentry work, no way. I purchased one 1/2021 after reading the reviews everywhere. Oh, and Harbor Freight REFUSED my negative review which is why I'm writing it here. Don't believe the hype. You will notice there is only ONE negative review on their site - because it's still a good review - LOL. I unboxed it and tested for accurate cutting, and immediately it has a curved cut, like in an arc or bow, off to the right. Nothing to do with handle torque either. There is no adjustment for an arcing cut like that since the extension arms are not parallel with the base, or they are bent. The farther away the arm is extended out into the throat plate, the worse it gets. It's off over 1/16". The blade can be aligned to the kerf in the base, however it moves off to the right as you slide out the arm. I can get it perfect close to the fence, but outside of that, it's way off, regardless of the base plate adjustment. I got it dead square to 90 degrees, cut a 10" wide board in half, flipped one half over vertically and lined up the cut again flat against the fence. There is a large gap in the kerf down the middle and tight on the ends. I returned the saw under warranty exchange - which is awesome, and got another one to find the same exact problem.
