A good idea is also to talk to your exotic vet about your emergency plans. Especially for temporary situations. One year, we were hit by a freak hurricane that left us without power for 8 days in super hot weather, and I couldn’t keep my chinchillas cool. (I ran an a/c for them, since I lived in an apt.) @@charissaclarice I'm guessing you're disagreeing with the 'animals are like children' statement? But whether you agree or not, you *do* have to have a back up plan, otherwise animals go forgotten and eventually starve, which I'm sure is tons of fun to come out of the hospital to.
@@CoRLex-jh5vx Yeah, there are many ways they're not like children (apparently you're not supposed to leave children alone in an enclosure lined with leaf litter 😄), but I completely agree with Beka O'Meara's statement: The similar part is you are responsible for both animals and for children, and part of being responsible is making plans for if something happens to you. This is a great lesson if you have or planning to have pets, especially exotic pets. Designating a competant caretaker in an emergency is a very wise plan.
Just saw this video. My thoughts and prayers are with your friend for a full recovery. I had a bone marrow transplant two years ago so I know how fragile life can be.
My aunt has a golden retriever. She just spent an emergency 4 months at my house. After my aunt had a medical emergency. My aunt lives 3 states away. She has children in that state. Her dog came to my house. It was not planned. I was not the emergency contact for the dog. I was just the only one willing and able to step up and do it. My cousin lived with the dog for over a year, but was unwilling to take the dog in. I flew there basically broke into my aunt's house and kidnapped the dog and stole her car. She knew this was all happening and I stayed in contact with her the entire time. Yes dogs and cats are easier to care for, but you still have to plan for it.
At first I thought you meant that Ed and Emily should have planned better and had empty space in case one of their friends ends up in the hospital and I was mad, then I realized what you meant.
:0 I don’t have a snake but I never thought of having an emergency contact for my rabbit thank you, a lot of people don’t know how to properly care for them :)

@@KaitlynBurtonISaGOD All snakes are illegal in NZ. Not a single snake down here. I'd love to have a snake but not at the expense of our native animals. We have enough trouble with those damn possums.
A good idea is also to talk to your exotic vet about your emergency plans. Especially for temporary situations. One year, we were hit by a freak hurricane that left us without power for 8 days in super hot weather, and I couldn’t keep my chinchillas cool. (I ran an a/c for them, since I lived in an apt.) My vet used generators during that time to stay open, and they were able to keep my chins the whole week. (& They were saints... didn’t even charge me, and every day when I visited to care for my little guys, they had already been fed and played with. The vet techs spoiled them rotten all week.
Emily: Some of them have been in quarantine for over a year...
Me: hmmm sounds familiar
I feel for you sneks!
Meh too
Lol like us
I haven't but still, I think I'm allowed to laugh, if not I already did
I hope he recovers soon. He's lucky to have such great friends. I wish you and your friend the best if luck
Since it's been 2 months, and we haven't heard anything, I assume, and truly hope your friend has recovered
Unfortunately, in one of their recent videos about a month ago they confirmed that the friend sadly passed away from his illness
@@mikkurzhal7390 this is so sad :( do u know which video?
I wish I had a friend like you. Caring for my cats and dogs while having covid is one of the hardest things I've had to do. He's lucky to have such great friends. I hope he has a speedy recovery.
I'm sorry you had/are having Covid! I hope you can get a family member or a friend or somebody to take care of your animals in the future if you're ever sick and need to focus on your health.
I just had a loved one pass from covid and she had a cat and I brought him home with me . Makes me feel like I can still help and care for my loved one.
Sorry for your loss
Sorry for your loss. I'm glad you could take her cat in so you could be a comfort to each other.
I am sorry.
Covid is a real virus. Ms.Morris, I’m sorry for your loss. I’m not joking when I say that Covid 19 is a real virus and needs to be taken seriously
I am so sorry for your loss it must be so hard to cope with everything going on right now. I just find it inspiring how you still make the choice to be a good person and take care of their pet, who would be also having a tough time.❤️
Thanks for being such special people!
The intro made me so sad cause emily looked and sounded like she was gonna cry
Hey sorry for your friend being in the hospital I know what that feels like my dad fell backwards and hit his head and he was not breathing my nana found him on the floor then she got my mom and my mom did cpr and he got put on a tube six days ago and he dose not have COVID-19 and he can talk and move and he woke up and we did not think he was going to make it he is coming home in a week or two but I am thankful to know that my dad is ok so I am praying for your friend like I do for my dad
I know how it feels when someone falls, my aunt fell and things got worse, she was yet alive but hanging on a thread. The thing is, the tread, it.... broken. We went to her funeral, I cried like a baby. My one regret is that I didn't go up to her body to say goodbye, she was cremated, so that regret can never ever be broken.

@@snowdragon8573 For what it's worth, as someone who's also lost loved ones... we don't get only one chance to say goodbye. You pay respects to your aunt when you think about her, when you remember her and how much you loved her.
That's sad for both of u
that was a bad acident hope he is ok that would have been very seriouse sorry to hear that
You can tell how Emily was faking a smile , it’s really inspirational how she can still record something if something serious happened to a close friend. We love ya Emily

@@giabarrone7422 I think the first video when they came out of brumation last year. She passed while brumating :(
Animals are like children, you have to have a plan for emergencies. Write out a care sheet, include your vet, etc.
I hope your friend gets better without issues. You did mention the name in this video, on the drive home. Might want to edit that if you want to keep privacy.
🙄
@@charissaclarice ?
@@charissaclarice what is your problem
@@charissaclarice I'm guessing you're disagreeing with the 'animals are like children' statement? But whether you agree or not, you *do* have to have a back up plan, otherwise animals go forgotten and eventually starve, which I'm sure is tons of fun to come out of the hospital to.
@@CoRLex-jh5vx Yeah, there are many ways they're not like children (apparently you're not supposed to leave children alone in an enclosure lined with leaf litter 😄), but I completely agree with Beka O'Meara's statement: The similar part is you are responsible for both animals and for children, and part of being responsible is making plans for if something happens to you. I don't have an exotic animal, I only have a cat, but she has some medical complications, so I really appreciated Emily's reminder that I need to make sure her care is all written out.
I’m really sorry about your friend and hope he has a speedy recovery. But it is cool seeing all of the critters!
I love how loving and understanding Emily's and Ed's audience is. The fact you guys were able to include the decor for each of the temporarily listed animals is just so awesome.
Emily and Ed are probably the nicest people I know, she has the zoo to take care of. She went out of her way just to take care of those reptiles for a couple months cause her good friend is in the hospital! They are very good friends. Tell Cheyenne I said hi if you see this.
I hope he gets better soon. At least he can know that his animals are in great hands.
I hadn't even thought of an emergency plan for my kid's snake, Boop. (Boop the Snoot, the 8 year old named it). Good idea.
Oh my god that is the most perfect name I have ever heard
*b o o p*
Rest in Peace Chad, but at least his reptiles are in good hands.
Emily, I’ve never seen you so out of sorts. I can really see the concerns in your face. Thoughts and prayers to your friend. Take care, you’re an amazing couple.
Why are Emily and Ed the sweetest people in the world? They are so humble and I can't believe they would take their time to help their friend who is clearly very ill. Get well soon and well done to Emily and Ed for all you do for not just your friends but also for us. You guys are the reason I want to be a zoologist (it's been 4 years!) Anyway we all want to say thank you for all you do! Abigail xx
this is so true you are the sweetest you go to crazy lengths for a friend
Prayers for the guy who is sick. Thankful you guys were able to step on and help him out in his time of need. What a blessing you two are to him. Hoping a good and quick recovery.
He unfortunately passed away
Is there perhaps a gofundme for the family and/or your friend's medical bills we could contribute to?
Yeah
Hi
Go Fund Me is not a good operation they take a huge chunk of what is donated. It's best to just designate someone trusted that will collect and hold funds. A bank account in their name or with their name as the title and the trustee to pay towards the hospital, would be free and a better idea.
I believe they said his name. I really hope there is I would donate
@@amandastakeonit7402 idk know that. Thanks for the advice
Its so interesting seeing animals that just chill in my yard being exotic pets halfway around the world. That bluey looks really happy though. I love them, they are great guests in our yard.
After about two years of asking and proving to my mother that I’m responsible enough to care for a snake, she finally agreed to let me own an eastern hognose snake!
I really thank this channel for a few things, helping me overcome my fear of snakes, and starting my love for the reptiles i once feared, ty Emily!
I’m so sorry for your friend’s condition 💔 I could tell just from the beginning that it was serious just by how subdued Emily was, but it hurt my heart to see how sad she got as the video went on. Thank you for filming this for us even though you’re suffering and it’s hard to have your heart all the way in it.
We will all pray that your friend will get better 🙏🙏🙏 he’s lucky to have you guys as friends 😊😊😊
Hope that your friend makes a speedy and complete recovery, it's a hell of a lot for you guys with everything else that's going on in your lives just now... also just wanted to say that Skink is so gorgeous! 😍

Watching this video 7 months later, hoping your friend is doing better now. Thanks for being there for him (& his reptiles) in their time of need. ❤️❤️
I hope he gets better soon, he’s lucky to have you guys as friends!
Bless your friend, I hope he gets better and I hope you enjoy taking care of his animals!
Sending love and strength to the family and human who is in the hospital. Good friends who can care for your pets are hard to come by. Glad he has y'all.
Oh my gosh. When Emily looked at the camera to tell her friend, "We love ya," I burst into tears. My heart.
You can tell Emily and Ed are really bummed out about their friend... kinda breaks my heart to see them so sad
Yea its sad but he'll fell better
Me being an empath and wanting to cry this whole video because I can feel how absolutely gutted you guys are about whatever the situation is. I truly hope your friend makes a full recovery.
I feel ya. Positive vibes for the sick friend
This is a great lesson if you have or planning to have pets, especially exotic pets. Designating a competant caretaker in an emergency is a very wise plan.
He will be so relieved to know that his pets are in good care.
@Brian Smith the breed being friendly doesn’t mean that particular dog is friendly.
This is why it's important to plan for scenarios like this.
But also it must be great to have amazing friends like Emily and Ed.
At first I thought you meant that Ed and Emily should have planned better and had empty space in case one of their friends ends up in the hospital and I was mad, then I realized what you meant.
Yeah, I’ve been thinking I need to teach my husband how to care for my turtles.
@@ethanwang3066 Definitely inspires us to be the kind of friends Emily and Ed are.

I'm sorry about your friend and hope they get well soon, but y'all are really good friends for taking care of their reptiles until he gets better :)
I hope the friend is ok! You're amazing for stepping up and taking care of them all even though I'm sure you were struggling too
:0 I don’t have a snake but I never thought of having an emergency contact for my rabbit thank you, a lot of people don’t know how to properly care for them :)
It made me stop and think about what I'd want for my pey jumping spiders if something happened. They're weird pets even by most exotic pets standards but I'd still want them cared for.
I have two of my friends as my emergency contact for my dogs. They are so helpful whenever we’re traveling.
My grandma is very sick right now, so I understand the sort of feelings you're going through. Thank you for taking care of his animals, your kindness always warms my heart
I hope your grandma gets better
You guys are so awesome and I just want you to know that whatever is going on with your friend, even with how terrible that might be, you guys are super strong and kind for doing the things you’re doing for him. There is no reason to apologize for being sad either! Love you guys and I really hope those reptiles are a good reminder of the friendship between you and him over the years.
Oh no, I hope your friend is okay! I wish them the best and hope they recover :( But it’s an amazing thing that you are offering to help take care of their animals :)
What a gorgeous collection, I an wishing for rapid recovery for your friend. He has excellent taste. Also that albino rosie should be nicknamed Creamsicle.
Praying for your friend.....Now that is some great friends and true animal lovers ... not many would drop everything and bring a bunch of reptiles to their home to care for them for a friend!! Most folks don't realize how important it is to make plans for your pets... especially "unusual" pets like reptiles etc. and it is SOOOOOO important if you live alone and have no one else, if something happens to you, to have a plan of care for your pets. I remember reading about all the pets left behind on 9/11that had to be rescued and cared for.....
I’m very lucky that everyone in my household loves my bearded dragon. So when I was hospitalized for a month for my major surgery they took great care of him. I’m going to make sure to thank them thoroughly tomorrow 😭
