find it funny how many times over the years watching this ike says take it easy then gets on to immediately do what he said not to do lol never gets old haha
@@charlesirby9222 funny you should say that..i went to your channel and saw zero mechanical videos...and let's face it Ike taught John everything he knows..go lay down in a corner some where
I mean you'll keep acting like y'all have destroyed a Harley-Davidson when in all honesty that's not a Harley it's an AMF that's what happens when Harley-Davidson goes bankrupt and sells out their company for I think it was a five or eight year stint there was nothing a Harley Davidson on that bike but the name everything else is an overseas part that does not correlate with Harley in any way shape or form
One tip from people building scale models is putting down a splotch or two of hairspray before painting. That way, it'll peel right off and look properly weathered.
Also Vaseline. I know when they try to make a WWII warplane look like the pilots have been walking on the wing to enter the cockpit they place vaseline over the primer coat and then paint. The paint comes off those spots and shows just the primer. Brilliant. Sometimes I have seen salt being used to cause interesting weathered effects. Lots of tricks to try.
Ike, you and the team have inspired me to let some of my daily stress go. "It'll be fine." is a great motto and a better philosophy. Thanks and keep up the great work.
The Gnarly Harley is looking great ,if your having issues finding breaks for it you could always send the break shoes to be refurbished or get break shoe liners and cut and glue them yourself ,great episode lads it’s nice to see something old and abandoned repurposed awesome job 👍👍
I just ate my first factor meal that was recommended by you guys and it is absolutely delicious I had the smoky butternut squash risotto with green beans and holy cow was it delicious
Thing is sweet. Didn't see much smoke out the tailpipe. Might want to consider higher oil ratio premix for break-in. Keep up the good work! Gnarly Harley for the win!
I worked for a race shop specializing in cylinder heads years ago, and the owner asked if I knew what the HD in Harley Davidson was for. I had no comment, and he said "Huge Disappointment"....I found that to be funny as a car guy... lol Good vid! Thanks for the content
love it...only minor change would be to loose the green rad hoses...paint em or something!!! otherwise looks bad a$$...oh and love the ""gnarly harley""
Well guys, I’m really digging the gnarly Harley. That thing is sick. You guys did a great job. Can’t wait to see it street legal in your next video of it.👍🏼💪🏼❤️
This is such a great project. Italian bikes are something special, even if they do have a HD badge on them! Instead of messing with the stock brakes, see if you can swap wheels with something more common and with better brakes. Should be easy enough to make something fit.
This is just about as close to my dream build as I've seen ANY Channel create! Once my business gets steady, I'm going to start saving parts to get a classic bike with a new lease on life as well! Thanks for the inspiration to start a small engine/motorcycle scooter shop of my own guys!!
2-strokes need to become a thing again. I loved them as a kid and the sound is obnoxiously loud, the power delivery chaotic and of course just plain old fun.
So cool to see you guys doing 2 stroke content..it's pretty much all I do anymore. Love the enduro tires, just puts some meaty ones on my 72' Yamaha yds7 250 2 stroke (mini 2 wheel banshee) and it looks amazing. Look forward to the next vid on this one! 🤙
Sometimes I look at what you've done and ask why, then I look at my projects and it all makes since again. Been watching from the beginning and never stopped enjoying watching. (And you gave me good ideas for my own projects)
I cannot get enough of the sound of a two-stroke! I would swap a set of motocross handlebars onto it would look better and I think it would be a little bit more agile on handling.
Another great video guys. This Old Man had my 8yr Old Great Grandson watching with me. Received the Spark Plug Dragster today and gave it to him. Thanks Charles. Love you Guys.🛵🧔💝💝💝
I think it would benefit from a slightly larger rear sprocket on the back, or drop a tooth on the front to compensate for the larger rear wheel diameter on the Harley. Yes I know it’s a 2 stroke, but it would help it pull through lower rpm into the powerband. At the moment it just bogs too much as the gearing is too tall, and (no offence) it’s carrying a larger passenger 😂 Jetting will also be an issue as you’ve changed the filter style. 2 stroke dirt bikes are highly susceptible to even small modifications, atmospheric and altitude changes, so you have to jet/tune to suit.
I love it! I am finishing up a piranha 140 swapped 1980 Honda xl80s. It came out sweet. It was inspired by your ct70 videos. Thanks guys for all you do
very cool to see this pop up in my feed as I'm working on my friend's '75 SX250 right now and just got it running as well...its a major smoke machine at the moment however!

That's NUTS!! Only watched the intro and I'm writing this... Feels like my friend with his Yam 125 motocross zipping, but NO, it's a Harley..!! Good stuff!!
Just curious, what oil mix brand and ratio are you guys using. Hardly any smoke for a 2-stroke. I vote for Gnarly Harley. Great content guys, always entertaining.
I love it! Much better than the original slug. It brings back memories of seeing one of these around the local Moto sports riding place called "The Mounds" in Davison Mich. Great build boys! I like the name GnarlyHardly a combo of a few suggestions.
Do you remember that commercial with the motorcycle Rain near beer,""but if you go back and watch your video that's what it sounds like that old commercial
We used to make those kind of Frankencycles when I was coming up in the 60s. Hondamaha, Yamazuki, Kawonda, great fun and some were scary fast. Great memories
the power band kicking in is the clutch slipping in higher RPM and running lean up top not enough oil in your pre-mix definitely not enough smoke and sounds very lean up top
i have a good recommendation for getting that fake patina look. you paint the part the color you want then put masking tape on the places you want the paint to show then get a glove put it on then spray the glove with the rust color primer then flick it on the part. the masking tape will keep the paint off the places you want the color to not have rust. hope this helps yall.
Heat the covering on the seat and stretch it a bit. That is what I had to do when I worked at JCI making console lid covers and fold down arm rests for cars. This worked on leather or vinyl material.
Just a question to see if anyone would answer I have a Colman kt196 go kart with the predator 212 we've upgraded it and got it pushing 15hp what would y'all do to it
I’ve heard of people painting a part, sanding it a bit to get some metal showing, then just burying it for a day or two in wet dirt to patina it a bit. Don’t know how well it worked but it’s an option
I don't know how you guys did it. You've somehow made a Harley an even worse noise polluter than they usually are. I'm seriously impressed, but I also feel sorry for anyone you ride past on the road.
Ike…considering the fact that you have to use, whatever you can find, on the shelf in rattle cans ( now that EVERYTHING is instantly in short supply). I think you did an outstanding job on the side panel! 👍👍❤️
I've done rc patina paint with the brown then putting sand in certain spots, painting over it, wet sanded that and removed the sand ,(just rubs right off) turned out pretty good.
Up till 15 years ago i still had one, a 125SS, with the low level pipe, all now i still have a good front fork, mine was a black one, the next owner restored it and painted it yellow, looked good but he blew up the engine, dont know what happened to it after that .
Another awesome build! Nice job. Hey have thought about getting one of those mini jeeps and tricking it out with a bigger motor and trany? You should really check into that. Epic build!
Great video! I grew up on MX bikes and that engine will not do well for extended highway trips. They were never meant for sustained throttle positions up around high idle. Beware she could go south on ya under highway use.
Omg 😃 yes street legal that's gonna be mint but people will be always looking at you cos it's pretty loud. Great video as always. Keep the great work coming
I felt bad for putting a kawasaki engine in that AMF HD. But being an old school bike guy you gave it a new lease on life. I remember those old Harleys and they were totally gutless from the onset. I do recall working on one or two. It helped convince me that honda and the others were the way to go. Even if it wasn't made by Harley, they put there name on them.
I think you could fix the back of that seat with a wrap around panel of the same material to smooth it out, If you want to get crazy CNC out an HD logo in steel, heat it up with a torch and brand it. Try it on a piece of scrap material before you do though because I have no idea how that "alligator" will handle it. You might need to try a few heat levels.
Next time on the seat covering try and use some heat gun to help in pulling and tightening the covering. Used in some of my recover adventures. Note put spray glue on both foam and vinyl. 4 corner basic stretch on the vinyl and heat the whole thing and glove up and form/shape the seat covering pull. That power band really sounds good.
As one who use to rattle can sunfade back seat box chevy olds the color you looking for is probly napa red it was used in a lot of early 80s companies it was cheap at the time
It would probably be better served by a larger air box situation. It would be worth trying to mod a KX85 air box with a KX filter. The engine will breath much better and you would probably pick up torque/low end grunt. Sweet build guys!
