I think what makes him such a good character is that even though he is so strong he KNOWS that he has to depend on others, hence him being a teacher and nurturing the next generation. Also the fact that he has the strongest curse abilities, yet still focuses so much on hand to hand combat.

The irony in Gojo’s character is, for all of his power, he is powerless to destroy the one thing he detest the most: the existing corrupt system.
Gojo had said it himself. He can walk in and kill all the officials in the rooms, and they would only be replaced by corrupt officials. He needs his students to transform the system for the better.
But many villain's have the idea of destroying everything and rebuilding it from the ashes, and Gojo has the power to do this if he wanted. I think it shows some kind of caring for the current jujutsu system and the people in it that he'd rather take the difficult and uncertain route of trying to reform it rather than murdering all the adults and becoming the only teacher and leader for the next generation.

Yes to everything you said! I loved the concept of the blindfold being vulnerability and care. But I also think that to delve more into his loneliness, his character and his overall story, it's necessary to talk about Geto (Though I get why you didn't).
I think the way he acts now, the way he thinks and why he wants to change the jujutsu world have to do with his "ex" best friend. A "we" became" and "I". The person he knew best and who knew him best slipped through his fingers without even realizing. He was the only equal Gojo ever had in every sense of the word and the jujutsu world broke him.
Their bond showed him what relying on someone was like, what trusting someone was like; and when he had that broken it's not a surprise that everything he believed in shifted.
In the end what you said about Gojo's weakness being his care for people you were right, because Kenjaku used that against him to trap him. He realized Gojo's achilles' heel: Geto. He has been the only person in the entire story to make him lose his cool. First when he was told what he had done in that village, and then when Kenjaku appeared with his body.
It makes you wonder how closely Kenjaku had been looking at them both throughout the years.
The interpretation that Gojo is lonely is really sad, because manga readers will know it wasn’t always that way.

He had to kill his best friend, only to realize some dumb brain took over his corpse. Ofc he would feel lonely, he couldn't kill him even when he was in front of him. If yuuta hadn't fatally injured him gojo wouldn't have killed him That time either

I'm surprised you didn't mention the fact that several characters hold the belief that Gojo is indirectly responsible for curses strengthening over the years as he's so ridiculously powerful they think the world itself is trying to balance him out
I love that Gojo is strong enough to destroy the entire world. His goal of changing the Jujutsu world for the better is easily attainable through massacring everyone who would oppose his ideals... But that's too easy. Gojo teaches and educates the next generation because his strength isn't factored in.
He's going to change the world, not with godly power, but with wisdom and patience

i recommend trying to look deeply into the characters and themes in jjk, gege akutami has put so much time and love in to create a complex and harsh world, driven by equally complex characters and a power system that becomes more thought provoking with each new bit of information

Gojo started covering his eyes after he got beating up by a person who had 0 curse energy and called himself a money. This is the first time he had to train his limitless senses. He partially did this by covering his eyes to no rely on them. When he was younger he never wore a headband untill like age 15 ish+.

Sukuna and Gojo are the pinnacles of the Jujutsu Kaisen world and also a mirror of the other. One represents the humans, and the other for the curses, yet they’re both considered a singularity amongst those they represent. I think that’s why Geto’s plans involve both of them and not trying to deal with only one of them. In an upcoming arc, Sukuna tells Jogo to stand proud because he is strong, which is almost the exact opposite of Gojo mocking Jogo for being weak and nothing compared to him. I’m excited to see if the two will ever clash and what the outcome will be
Oh, that made me think of something in another video. Sukuna, when he was a human, may have started off weak. Gojo on the other hand was born strong. Another potential mirror of one another that informs their attitudes, their different opinions on Jogo being a prime example.

Frankly, it's amazing how mild Gojo's god complex is, given how strong he is. Because if I had such power, I'm not sure if I could remain a good guy and would not want to conquer the world, for example. He is still able to empathize with others when he and everyone else is separated by such an abyss, literally and figuratively. That's why he wants Yuji and everyone else to become strong, because if everyone is strong, Gojo won't stand out so much.
If you are as powerful as him, you don't feel the need to prove yourself your strength, lol. If you were all powerful, why would you conquer the world, what would be the point? You know you can, that's all that matters.

@@SRoy-rk3tj gojos god complex is still mild tbh. his "throughout heaven and earth i alone am the honored one" was a moment where he was basically high on power, basically unlocking godhood with reverse cursed technique + hollow purple. however, following this event he was still the same old gojo, only now he was stronger (and miles stronger than everyone else). his "god complex" was knocked down already when geto defected, when he realized it didn't matter how strong he was, he still couldn't save geto.
in my opinion, gojo satoru does not have a god complex. he's just straightforward and knows the simple facts - he is the strongest, his birth altered the balance of the world, and he uses this to his advantage to reach his goals. he knows he is the strongest, but he does not believe he is above others as people.
I was thinking about the same thing. That much power either corrupts you or pushes you to be distant so u can stay away from the trivial things like corruption, laws, etc.
I like Gojo for how he can change from battle to messing around so much times so its really rare to find characters like that.

Now I understand his cursed techniques and why his infinity looks like an eye. Six eyes let’s him see everything that is cursed energy, and his limitless allows him to send all that information into someone else’s mind and that’s why it’s a instant win. Because they can’t handle all that information, because they don’t experience the world like he does visually. If you already knew this then my bad I just understand things by typing them out.

JJK is inspiring me to get back into writing, and Gojo is a big factor in this. I think one of my favorite tidbits is the fact his Limitless ability is based on Zeno's Paradox. Overall, I just love the idea of The Vast: that everything is incohemprensibly large. Infinite. And even attempting to think about it for too long breaks people.

It's always interesting to see a shonen protagonist who is stronger than all the other characters at the start of the show. Usually these characters are relegated to mentor roles and are eventually killed when a strong main antagonist comes along to provide character motivation for the main protagonist. But what's great about JJK is that the series does not seem to be heading in that direction. Instead Akutami seems to be completely removing the strength narrative away from Gojo and focusing purely on an emotional character arc.
[SPOILER] I’m just giving my opinion though
JJK is clearly heading to the direction you’ve described (where the mentor is killed and generates the motivation of the main protagonist) starting from the ’emotional character arc’. However the mangaka made a variation of that plot to hold everything in a ’?' that adds a lot to the charm of the story the same way thriller movies do. The mangaka just likes to trigger our curiosity and patience to grab our attention in a pleasant way. We question everything we see: who's that guy? Is he strong? What's his role in the story? Is he dead tho? Is he good tho? The mangaka knows how to show beforehand the depth/strength/importance of a character before even telling us his story AND without making it too obvious.
Clearly, JJK mangaka has mastered the typical shonen plot to create this masterpiece. I like JJK.

Interesting analysis, but I think there's a few points I'd like to add:
[SPOILERS FROM THE MANGA AHEAD]
Gojo doesn't have a god complex. People that have a god complex are incapable of thinking that things are outside of their control. I think to a large extent, Satoru Gojo is well enough aware that he is strong enough for most things, but not all. If he truly had a god complex, his belief system would refuse the thought that the "higher-ups" exist with anything but his permission. This brings me to what I think is the most interest part of his character-- despite his overwhelming strength, he neither aims to be the pinnacle of the power system, nor does he aim to destroy it. He aims to simply rebel against it from time to time. People with god complexes (in fiction at least) don't really tend to work with the system.
To that extent, I don't think Itaadori has a god complex either. He also isn't lonely? We see him at his most depressed at the beginning because his grandfather has died, but he connects and establishes friendships just fine. In the manga, it is also shown that he was pretty popular in middle school. I think, rather, he struggles with the heavy questions that he asks himself which is why he looks so alone. These are all questions that we must configure, research, and answer on our own. As Nanami put it--"I don't have the answer to this question" In his search for a good death, a good life and what it means to be rescuing someone, he is alone. That doesn't make him, at least in my view, lonely.
Secondly, Gojo isn't a bad teacher. Unconventional and irresponsible is not bad. At the end of the day, just like Nanami said-- the students probably trust him, but don't respect him. I think, in a way, that's what he wants. He doesn't want the students to idolise the strongest Jujutsu sorcerer, because, in the manga, his best friend left him with the question of-- "Are you Gojo Satoru because you are the strongest, or are you the strongest because you're Gojo Satoru?" There are many ways to interpret this, but in this context it is probably asking him if who he is underneath his strength is sufficient, or is his strength his identity alone. I think that was his wake-up call that his strength was insufficient, but more importantly, that HE is insufficient. He is the strongest, not omnipotent. Losing his best friend and not being able to bring him back, ultimately watching him die was the propelling element that he needed to change the world, and not just beat up all the curses. (In this part we agree) Anyways this leads to his teaching, which focuses on students 1) not idolising him, because they should look for their own strength; 2) pushing them into situations that he has control over, but leading them to believe they are on their own; and 3)building them into fully fledge jujutsushi that don't rely on him as the battering ram.
I think that fits where the story is going in the Manga. With Gojo sealed, his students are the one who has to solve the crisis. He knew this, which is why he prepared them. Why would Gojo teach at all? Because he understood that his teen years, where his strength was built, are the most important years to shape the next generation that doesn't believe in the "higher ups" shite. Uhh-- to clarify, he's irresponsible AF. If I had a teacher like that in real life, I'd throw up blood before the first term ended. However, he's training jujutsushi, not someone who is meant to fit into the system of society--they don't need rules, they need strength.
Why then, does Gojo act like that? My thought is existential nihilism-- but we'll have to see his character more to find out why. Existential Nihilist don't necessarily have to abandon the world, in cases like Gojo, I believe, he's building his own definition of meaning in life. He acts like that because he's fundamentally aware that structures like morals and rules are flexible and at the end of the day-- means nothing. His nonchalance is a reflection of this. How can you care about something that you understand has no meaning? However, he doesn't entirely abandon morality, he reinforces it, but it seems flimsy to the average watcher because morality is flimsy in his eyes.
Oh by the way-- to answer the original question: I think Gojo covers his eyes as an act of kindness to those around him. His six eyes weren't covered when he was younger, which suggest to me that he began wearing the blind to conserve energy (see manga) but later kept it since people staring into his eyes does things to them. If anything, I think now that he's resolved his main issue of cursed energy (again see manga), he doesn't need it anymore. Also, he could be keeping it on for shits and giggles. It's Gojo after all.
On a side note: I'm quite interested in his youth arc. His best friend begins to call humans "monkeys", to which Gojo had no response. So, my belief is that he is a Nihilist that understands the fundamental morality of humanity, but is better at reconciling humanity with sorcery. He doesn't believe humans need saving necessarily, but he does want to change the system. Doesn't that make him the antithesis to Itaadori, who wants to save individuals? Ho ho ho.
Also, Megumi was given the right advice. He wasn't told to be selfish, it was Gojo's way of saying to be ambitious. I disagree with your analysis there.

Okay but another character I can’t unhear when I’m watching Gojo is Shigure Sohma (Fruits Basket 2019). Aside from having the same VA and exactly the same voice, they have that same cockiness, playfulness, authority, selfishness and they even have the same goal-wanting to change the way things are or breaking the current system. I love them both!

What I love are the subtle (and not so subtle) similarities between Megumi/Yuji and Sugaru/Gojo. (Besides the names having the same amount of syllables.) Yuji was the strongest of anyone around him. Including the adults. He never really cared about his own safety or success, as long as the people around him were happy. Gojo. And Megumi just wanted to protect the weak people he viewed as worth saving. Sugaru. Yuji has the strongest inside him, and believed he was strong. Got DESTROYED. Came back way stronger. Gojo. Megumi used his brain to finish an impossible mission, the failure traumatized him and changed his perspective. He got stronger. Sugaru. The similarities are like... blatant. My ass said subtle like that was a thing. 🤣

Gildarts Clive is a red-head with a badass standing with one arm he lost to a giant sharp toothed monster, and is silly and easygoing outside of fights. So basically shanks.

Reading the manga about his past arc, for sure, this man is lonely not only in his power but also in his mind. Poor guy
Interesting take, but I believe the main reason is that he’d exhaust his cursed energy if he constantly used the six eyes.
He does say overusing them would make him less human though, which could be a result of what you’ve tried to explain here, or it could be explained by the fact that constant overwhelming information processing makes a person into a computer rather than a human. But also, if you know everything, you become more like a god than a person.
He can see through the blindfold though, he sees the cursed energy. The author said it’s like thermal vision, and he can even see buildings because of residual cursed energy.
If you read manga you may know that about 50% of Satorou's characteristics came from the positive energy of the reverse technique which flow in his vessel
I think it would be cool to see your analysis of the shibuya incident, and the character development of itadori throughout the arc. One of the best manga arcs i have read. I feel the arc changed my views about the anime from being a good anime to a masterpiece.

Whats very interesting is that, the concept of gojos limitless technique is a real spiritual concept of infinity and a part of this concept is negative beings cannot sense this infinity because of their detachment to the belief that all things in existence are one at their core and are bound together by infinity which is why gojos opponent was shocked when he touched infinity for the first time
The real reason is Gojo’s eyes are too expensive so he has cover his eyes
I actually think Yuuji and Gojo are big reasons why the other is starting to be able to get closer to other people throughout the story despite their complexes with characters like Okkotsu and Fushiguro being there to enhance it due to their shared connections to both of them.
Gojo is like that one superboss in an RPG that where you need very specific items to even have a chance of hurting him or go through a complicated series of events that no first time player would know how to do.
