Johnny Nguyen Maybe he could do both? A video with multiple gadgets once every two weeks or once a month or so, and still the gadget of the week stuff. I really miss the videos with more gadgets as well. :/
Watching this while in the hospital and this has put me in such a better mood. Your videos always brighten my day. After such a bad day filled with bad news this makes my day a whole lot better. Thanks
I am so surprised that worked out so well. I have never seen anything like that. I usually buy meat chunked up already, and just slide it on the skewers. I make one skewer of onions, one of mushrooms, one of meat. They cook for different times so that way they get done without burning. Then I pull off the sticks and we eat with forks. But I like this sort of.
Barry I'm so glad I have you to test this kind of stuff out for me. I don't want to buy most gadgets because it looks like it would just be easier to do it the regular way. But it's highly entertaining to watch you.
This was a fun one for sure! I loved your American accent (as an American here) and I love how well-behaved your dogs are, because my dogs and cats would have stolen all those discarded skewer bits
Lol build a better burger, I'm 40 and still have that game in my cupboard, shockingly its complete with all the Wee pieces, I used to love it and it was good to show my kids the game I played with as a kid. Great video Barry
I thought at first, you just bunged the whole thing into the oven and I was wondering how you were going to cope with a load of melted plastic, but it's used as a kind of mould. I see now! Quite a useful thing.
I think I've figured it out! You put whole slabs of meat in it, close the hingey door, use Wolverine thing to stab holes in so that it's easier to get the skewers all the way through, then once the skewers are filling all of those holes, you use those slots on the sides to cut the skewered meat into cubes!
The big fork is not for piercing the meat and vegies alone. U should add the skewers inside the fork holes and slide the fork inside the kebab maker. When pulling the fork out the skewers will stay intact and neatly in place inside the box. Another way also to use the box (the way I use it) is as a guide to cut the meat into exact shapes then open the door and add the meat to the skewers manually. This will allow me to add pearl onions and cherry tomatoes to the skewer. Which will look soooooooooo beautiful and tasty. The maker is nice also for fruit skewers.
This is probably the most dubious thing on here I have seen called a gadget. Not sure it saved any time or helped in any way xD Still it worked better than I thought, nice one Bazza.
Melissa Blanchard: Bit of an old comment , but what do you mean 'American style' kebabs? I've been an American (Wisconsin) all my life and have never seen or heard of another style; any kebab I've ever eaten was like this one (chunks of meat and veggies on a stick)... Maybe what you're talking about is an east/west coast thing?
My aunt has something very similar and we find it works best if you put a layer of vegetables down at the bottom cuz if you notice the cut holes don't go all the way to the bottom
The skewer need to go threw the holes on the bottom of the box. You can cut threw them otherwise. You should hold the tip while you cut down I think. You also need to make sure it cuts threw all the way. Also cut chicken thighs to shape works really well. That's how we use them at work.
"They had a proper, trained chef on the commercial." From what I've seen, that doesn't mean much in the world of commercials. As an actual trained chef myself, I often watch these supposed "commercial chefs" and just shake my head at the things they're doing. Once you've gone to school and worked at various kitchens for 10+ years, you can spot an amateur from a mile away and those "commercial chefs" definitely are exactly that.
I have a feeling that he was supposed to take the lid off after putting in the skewers. Then you open the doors to help with the cutting and still use the guides on the for the point end of the knife. If not, I may have just figured out a different way. :)
Wow if you were having a large party or something that would be so helpful. I had doubts it would work but I think it does well especially with having no instructions.
The best gadget that I have is a soup maker. I just load it up with veg, add water or stock, season, and put the lid on. After that you just select blended or chunky and press start. 25 minutes later you have perfect soup. It’s so fool-proof that even I can use it! Just don’t make a blended mushroom soup because that does not look good :( Edited to correct a spelling mistake.
It's nice that you have a positive attitude. I think this procuct is just plastic trash and I don't see how it could help people with disabilities. You still need a good grip and force to push the skewers through that tower, precision to cut through the slits, and you can't reach the bottom of the pile because the slits stop too far up.
Best kebab I ever had was at a place called Egyturk in Sesto San Giovanni outside Milan. The man didn't speak English but he was very friendly nonetheless.
What you should've done is 1. Cut the bamboo skewers at the top so they didn't protrude 2. Turned it upsidedown and pushed the meat from the bottom.. The bottom and top can come undone therefore you should've pressed it down from the top and cut the pork end first...
I think the metal "claw" thing is to help you push the skewers cuz otherwise there will be food bits stuck in the holes. It would be very gross and unsanitary if you used it as a piercer.
When i worked at a butcher.. we used a bigger kind of this thing to make satay sticks.. it's so easy.. but if you have one that makes a hundred each time.. and you have to make that thing 7 times in one day.. your fingers hurt like hell putting in all the bamboo skewers. Also the slicing is so heavy when its all meat
The other language on the box is Arabic it says: "barbecue box" Even though it is called Kebab in Arabic as well 🤷🏻♀️. Seems like a helpful gadget 👍🏻👍🏻
Looking at this I just got an idea for using it to make "Breakfast Kebabs" basically taking say already cooked waffles - pancakes - eggs - (sausage - bacon or not if vegetarian like me) - fruits etc... stacking them in the gadget an then slicing them up
BARRY, Please can we have an updated version of the Easter Egg mould video from 2011! As much as I love the intro and your hair hehe, I would LOVE an updated video which me and my girlfriend could follow :)
Put the bamboo inside the metal tubes i bleave they are there so you can guide the squears into the pockets on the bottom like you had in this video some came out the sides and some didn't go all the way in because they missed the holes on the bottom because the bamboo flexes and the steel doesn't.
I think the three pronged thing is meant to help you guild the bamboo skewers straighter. Also think you should probably have some veggies at the bottom not meat 😂
Yeah, I believe the wolverine thing was supposed to cut the holes in the meat for ya so you can align the skewers all the way to the bottom hole without it being misaligned!
Wow! I wonder what would happen if you put a weight on top and microwaved it for an hour. You'd have a perfectly compact cube that you could carve up any way you'd like.
I would have just chopped the onion into halves or quarters at most so that there would be surface area for the skewer to pierce and it would have been wayyyy easier to lay a flat layer with just halved onions
I wished that they made the maker itself steel or similar with steel bamboo skewers, then we could put the whole thing in the oven (more than likely put down sideways on its side). I was surprised when it worked, but it seems like too much work/effort except that it made alot at once. Edit: I just found out that some other company had the metal version.
I heard that you should use metal skewers rather than bamboo skewers? I remembered years ago when I needed to do kababs I actually made a cage similar to this.......
I’ve been interested in this style of kebab maker, so this video is pretty useful! I think the skewers go into the three pronged poker thing, from what I saw with other versions that have more instructional photos on Amazon.
"wolverine claws" as guidance to stick in the bamboo-scewers straight and hit the bottom in the right angle. put in only meat/steak or big flaps. and i guess you are good to go. still the cutting seem to be terrible designed as you can't go all the way from top to bottom. more like a toy than a useful gadget i guess.
Hey Barry, I got an idea. are you able to make a animated cooking series on your show? if you can't animate it get some one else to do it ;D? I would love to see an animated Barry showing us how to cook that would be sick :)
Wow it actually worked. I bet that thing would work real well making a huge decker of a sandwich and fun 2 eat? Great for parties and B.B.Q. like you said.

My Virgin Kitchen always love the gadget videos
My Virgin Kitchen I love your videos and I have been following your channel since pretty much the beginning! Keep up the amazing work!
Tweet me @mrbarrylewis I get a lot of spam
I wish you would go back to weekly episodes with multiple gadgets. I miss those episodes.
Yeah I much prefer those too. But I guess maybe some of the more intensive gadgets or complicated gadgets might require a longer video to showcase.
I kinda prefer the more extensive\complicated gadgets, it makes them look all the more silly (and sometimes actually useful)
Glacire1990 Me too!
Johnny Nguyen Maybe he could do both? A video with multiple gadgets once every two weeks or once a month or so, and still the gadget of the week stuff.
I really miss the videos with more gadgets as well. :/
I wish too
Mabye the metal thing is for poking the bamboo sticks in safer so it doesn't hurt your hand and go in straight?
Rakastan-girl Sinua, that's what I was thinking as well
Yeh and I think he needed to push the skewers all the way through the holes on the other side too
+myvirginkitchen the hole-maker is to ensure that the bamboo skewers line up with the holes at the bottom.
I think you use the wolverine-ish thing to help push the skewers down. The metal part isn't supposed to go into the meat... I think...
Watching this while in the hospital and this has put me in such a better mood. Your videos always brighten my day. After such a bad day filled with bad news this makes my day a whole lot better. Thanks

I now demand a Barry eats gherkins video!
Scarfmonster a Mike Jeavons Week On series ..... A week on Gherkins
the skewers are to go inside the medal guides so that they are center correctly...
I am so surprised that worked out so well. I have never seen anything like that. I usually buy meat chunked up already, and just slide it on the skewers. I’m sure that handle thing is used to push the skewers down and help keep them straight
It's almost 4am and yet here I am postponing sleep with kitchen gadgets. I regret nothing.
Wow lol
Jasmine Seiger no regrets
Did no-one see phoebe at the end of the video? Standing next to homer? Sneeking into the video? Made me laugh so hard!
I saw her! She made me snort XD
That just looks like so much more work and far less fun than dicing and assembling individual skewers!
I agree!
My thought exactly.
Totally, this contraption is for morons
Hi Bary 💐👋🏻 .. The other written language is Arabic. and it’s said ( the grill box)
I just can’t believe how well it turned out. Bravo!
This was a fun one for sure! I loved your American accent (as an American here) and I love how well-behaved your dogs are, because my dogs and cats would have stolen all those discarded skewer bits
glad that you went back to the house. I loved how it used to be and I think that you are at your best at home.
“And for my next trick, Please! Be careful if you do this!” The dad of the youtube cooking community. 🖤❤️
The language that you dont know is arabic and it does say kabab box 👅❤️
That looks like way more bother than just cubing up your stuff and skewer it individually... :'D
Spoiler alert!:
There's meat
that is true!
really?!?!?!?!
Spoiler alert! I like your avatar pic ^^
you need a top of meat not unions
Lol build a better burger, I'm 40 and still have that game in my cupboard, shockingly its complete with all the Wee pieces, I used to love it and it was good to show my kids the game I played with as a kid.
Great video Barry
Amazing stuff
Love how the illustration on the box shows the whole thing going up in flames. :D
At first I was confused about this gadget but the more I watched it the more I wanted one!
Only man on YT we can be confident will never yell out drunkenly “Y’all watch this!” as a prelude to disaster. You are so cautious Barry!
I thought at first, you just bunged the whole thing into the oven and I was wondering how you were going to cope with a load of melted plastic, but it's used as a kind of mould. I see now! Quite a useful thing.

The maker is nice also for fruit skewers.
I wouldn't mind a video that's nothing but eating a bunch of pickles. Drink the brine too.
No no it's not too much. I love these random little stories
This is probably the most dubious thing on here I have seen called a gadget. Not sure it saved any time or helped in any way xD Still it worked better than I thought, nice one Bazza.
Jigatree it's useless
Melissa Blanchard: Bit of an old comment , but what do you mean 'American style' kebabs? kitchen gadget videos are still my fave!
What was Phoebe doing in the background right near the very end of the video? It looked like she had sort sort of mask or face cover on.
I believe she had something in her mouth. (like an orange-slice grin?)
Brilliant! I have 3 kids and it takes forever to make kabobs for a whole family. This would make it so easy for a nice barbecue dinner
That's how we use them at work.

you need to eat the entire jar of gherkins, I feel like it's something that the internet needs to see
You are fearless in the kitchen! No instructions, no problem. So funny too🤣 ❤👏👏 next time try it with the wolverine claw and seasonings
Wow if you were having a large party or something that would be so helpful. I had doubts it would work but I think it does well especially with having no instructions.
According to a place I was reading about this product, you are supposed to push 3 skewers at a time with the rod
The best gadget that I have is a soup maker. I just load it up with veg, add water or stock, season, and put the lid on. After that you just select blended or chunky and press start. 25 minutes later you have perfect soup. It’s so fool-proof that even I can use it! Just don’t make a blended mushroom soup because that does not look good :(
Edited to correct a spelling mistake.
The handle thing that you pushed thru is to hold the skewers and keeps them lined up in the middle of the meat
The man didn't speak English but he was very friendly nonetheless.
i really need to stop staying up to watch the videos you put up 2:30 am and im watching this brad new video lol also grats on devil time
I thought I was the only person who remembered Build A Better Burger! It was great!
Kebabs aside, I could see how someone with tremors could use a device like this to cut food.
The wolverine thing is to put the skewers in straight, put the skewers in the the holes of the metal rods
And now i know what I'm making for lunch to take to work next week 👍
What you should've done is
1. Cut the bamboo skewers at the top so they didn't protrude
2. Turned it upsidedown and pushed the meat from the bottom..
The bottom and top can come undone therefore you should've pressed it down from the top and cut the pork end first...
*We need to see you eat a whole jar of gherkins for a video.*
I get a feeling you open the door to fill it, use the metal wolverine and lid to put in the skewers and then cut through the slots
I think the metal "claw" thing is to help you push the skewers cuz otherwise there will be food bits stuck in the holes. It would be very gross and unsanitary if you used it as a piercer.

The insides of those hollow metal prongs could get nasty. How do you clean them? Are they detachable from the handle?
Haven't gotten there yet but I am under the assumption that the 3 hollow rod thing is for pushing the skewers through.
The other language on the box is Arabic it says: "barbecue box" Even though it is called Kebab in Arabic as well 🤷🏻♀️.
Seems like a helpful gadget 👍🏻👍🏻
Is that green veg you call a corget (?) a zucchini??
Love the intro :D
Looking at this I just got an idea for using it to make "Breakfast Kebabs" basically taking say already cooked waffles - pancakes - eggs - (sausage - bacon or not if vegetarian like me) - fruits etc... stacking them in the gadget an then slicing them up
KingHenryVR4 so you ear eggs?
Yeah I ear eggs an dairy
BARRY, Please can we have an updated version of the Easter Egg mould video from 2011! As much as I love the intro and your hair hehe, I would LOVE an updated video which me and my girlfriend could follow :)
The thing that you poked the holes with the first time is a skewer applicator. I just found out.
I love ur vids they always brighten my day😺🥘
Barry, I was not thinking about beef wearing a skirt.
I was thinking about a skirt made of beef.
Slow cookers are so underrated! They're amazing!
Its plastic, i dont think sticking it in the oven is a good idea.
Those look Great... Love your videos!!! Keep up the awesomeness!!
Woukd love to see you eat a whole jar of pickles in a video 😁
you do put the skewers in that thing and press them in with it so it goes in straight
Put the bamboo inside the metal tubes i bleave they are there so you can guide the squears into the pockets on the bottom like you had in this video some came out the sides and some didn't go all the way in because they missed the holes on the bottom because the bamboo flexes and the steel doesn't.

This made me laugh, as many of your videos do... oh and please make the pickle eating video lol
I would have just chopped the onion into halves or quarters at most so that there would be surface area for the skewer to pierce and it would have been wayyyy easier to lay a flat layer with just halved onions
The metal thing that comes with the box is used to put skewers in easier.
thanks for shouting me out in your pancake video
I wished that they made the maker itself steel or similar with steel bamboo skewers, then we could put the whole thing in the oven (more than likely put down sideways on its side). I was surprised when it worked, but it seems like too much work/effort except that it made alot at once.

thanks Mildred, that's hopefully the aim of these videos laugh and learn if it's worth it
“I’m not going to put my hand on that side” PUTS FACE NEXT TO THE KNIFE
Oh my god I love you’re videos
As I am watching this....all I keep thinking of is that salad bowl cutting thing lol (not sure what it was called)
Good morning from Tennessee!
Maybe use the metal thing to push the bamboo sticks into the food? That's all I can really thing that will do. Hopefully you try this 😀
If you had put the pork on top and onions in the middle somewhere, it would've been 10/10, no idea what the tubes are for, but the rest is awesome :D
"wolverine claws" as guidance to stick in the bamboo-scewers straight and hit the bottom in the right angle.
put in only meat/steak or big flaps. and i guess you are good to go.

Just in time for my cuppa coffee :)
nice one
Do the gherkin challenge, Barry! It probably doesn't exist, I just made it up for you. Eat a whole jar of them, if you can. I know I can't.
Hey Barry, I love this 😍 I have also sent you a message on Facebook on the MVK Facebook page :)
I adore your videos :) it insipres me to cook more
Hey Barry, I got an idea. are you able to make a animated cooking series on your show? if you can't animate it get some one else to do it ;D? I would love to see an animated Barry showing us how to cook that would be sick :)
What you haveto do is to fill the box with the meat and the slices in the sides of the box you haveto cut and that will make square kebabs 👍
Try a potato chipper (chips as in fish and chips, not crisps). We have one at home and it's really great!
Hi Barry!!! Thanks for the video!!
Wow it actually worked. I bet that thing would work real well making a huge decker of a sandwich and fun 2 eat? Great for parties and B.B.Q. like you said.
Lol I come from nz and I love how you refer to haka as hacker lol
You should name this video, watch a fully grown man act helpless......
