Love your content Professor G! I'm set for 2025! I have a considerably large position on SVOL, SCHD is about 35% of my Roth IRA SPDR S&P 500 value Tilt ETF is about 31% of my Roth. The rest is covered call ETFs for all 4 US market indexes, international, extra concentration with sector ETFs with energy, health care, utilities, WTI futures and general commodity futures ETFs. these allocations balance out my portfolio effectively.
Sounds like you have a plan and executing!
I am so big on stocks and it has worked well for me, but I also like to have a well balanced, low-cost set of ETFs that keeps the money in my pocket. How effective is your efts approach returns on the long run with this lot?
the money man!! all this allocation must be giving you good returns.
superb Paul adhering to well established patterns from a professional standpoint would make you love high yielders efts! I've set up a spreadsheet of high yielders, total allocation to each position, monthly dividends (avg) and I got to say I'm going all in when the time is right (double). I mix both high and low-medium yields in my portfolio, but the higher yielders is the way to go on efts.
Cheers I'm looking to start a position in SCHD, JEPQ with dividends of existing stocks. It's going into an IRA and I'm really looking for growth over time. I will be reinvesting dividends, so my position size will grow over time. Okay if I get introduced to your viewpoint, I need similar performance on mine.
Every crash/collapse brings with it an equivalent market chance if you are early informed and equipped, I've seen folks amass up to $1m amid economy crisis, and even pull it off easily in favorable conditions. Unequivocally, the collapse is getting somebody somewhere rich.
I do not disagree, there are strategies that could be put in place for solid gains regardless of economy or market condition, but such execution are usually carried out by investment experts with experience since the 08' crash.
The issue is people have the "I want to do it myself mentality" but not equipped enough for a crash, hence get burnt. Ideally, advisors are reps for investing jobs, and at first-hand encounter, my portfolio has yielded over 300% since 2020 just after the pandemic to date.
i'm blown away! mind sharing more info please? i am a young adult living in Miami where i've encountered several millionaires, and my goal is to become one as well.

I just curiously searched her up, and I have sent her an email. I hope she gets back to me soon. Thank you
As someone in their 40s just starting out in 3 fund portfolio (have 401k from work). I’m looking at SCHD, VOO, XLK or SCHG.
Awesome picks! I like VOO and SCHD equally!
VOO, VIG, VGT.
@@So.ladylike thanks! Actually is it sensible to have both?
Not necessarily though there is a fair amount of overlap but that’s not necessarily a negative. Most important thing is to get started and build your income over time to continue investing more as time goes on. I just surpassed ~$150K from an initial deposit of 35K seventeen months ago... Cheers
I lost a lot chasing individual stocks and I feel pretty stupid for not understanding how investing works. I have a double major in economics but I’ve been trying to make sense of the market. Well done on profits!
I think investors should always put their cash to work, especially In 2024, we'll start to see more market diversification. I'm hoping to invest about $350k of my savings in stocks against next year. Hope to make millions in 2024
Since risk is at an all-time high right now, perhaps you should be a little more patient and return when it has decreased. Alternatively, you can consult a trained financial expert for strategy.
Yes true, I have been in touch with a brokerage Advisor. With an initial starting reserve of $80k, my advisor chooses the entry and exit commands for my portfolio, which has grown to approximately $550k.
I’ve been looking to switch to an advisor for a while now. Any help pointing me to who your advisor is?
NICOLE ANASTASIA PLUMLEE' is the licensed fiduciary I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment.
I searched for her full name online, found her page, and sent an email to schedule a meeting. Hopefully, she responds soon. Thank you
O and VICI have been crushing it lately. I left my old company and transferred my Roth 401(k) to a Roth IRA back in July or so, bought some O and it is up almost 20% since then
My bank MM changed to 1.98% with no warning. (US Bank)
Not everyone is crazy enough to check it every week like I did. I immediately pulled my Emergency Fund to Schwab MM.
How is Schwab doing on a MM?

Boeing is good sometimes!
Boeing is BAD, Boring is good. Lol@@NolanGouveia
I have a good chunk in SCHD, and bought some shares of Visa, Exon Mobile, Realty Income. Thinking of adding some retail stocks like Walmart, or Kroger/Target.
SCHD, QQQM, VOO that’s all I need!
Solid choices!
I just switched up my Roth IRA to 50% SCHD, 25% SCHX, 25% SCHG, and my Roth 401k is 70% vanguard S&P 500 index, 20% vanguard growth index, and 10% vanguard international index. Seeking best possible ways to grow $350k into $1m+ before retirement, I'm 55.
Those sound like great picks! consider financial advisory so you don’t keep switching it up, top 3 payers for the month were $OHI, $KMI, and $EDP... not bad for 350k
You have a very valid point, I started investing on my own and for a long time, the market was really ripping me off. I decided to hire a CFA, even though I was skeptical at first, and I beat the market by more than 14.3%. I thought it was a fluke until it happened two years in a row, and so I’ve been sticking to investing via an advisor.
I'm intrigued by this. I've searched for financial advisers online but it's kind of hard to get in touch with one. Okay if I ask you for a recommendation?
I've experimented with a few over the past years, but I've stuck with ‘’Aileen Gertrude Tippy” for about five years now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She’s quite known in her field, look her up.
Wow, her track record looks really good from what I found online. I'll take a chance and see how it goes. Thanks for the info
Hey prof. G , do you have any suggestions for a fidelity three fund portfolio
Thanks for the amazing videos
I'm all in into VOO,QQQ and SCHD it's set and forgotten
SCHD, SCHG and VTI here.
@@mixaleenalovesglitter2543same, VTI 50%, SCHG 30%, SCHD 20%. 30 years to grow.

If you hold in brokerage acct is it difficult to rebalance without incurring taxes?
Bro why?? 84% of QQQ holdings are in VOO and also %44 of SCHD holdings are also in VOO u just investing in the same thing 3 times?
VOO, XLK, SCHD, AVIV, AVUV
Great video once again Professor! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for the rich and insightful content prof G. keep them coming. 👍👍👍
I live in CA. If home price goes up again, then we'll be liable for even higher property tax !! It's norm to see people pay $20k - 50K just for property tax here in my area !!!! The government is the only one benefits! A lot people think property tax is a form of unrealized capital gain tax to which I agree!
Always appreciate your videos. Thank Prof G
Hello Prof G!! Great words, as always. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience!!
I appreciate it Alan!
Schg, SCHD and SPLG. SCHD IS ON 🔥
Exactly!!
This is what I invest in as well in my Roth IRA
SPLG, DGRO and SCHD in my ROTH 💪🏾
Great choices
I own those same ETF in my Roth
keep pumping out those financial informational videos Professor G!!!!
Will do!
Very informative and helpful. Any comments on covered call ETFs? Such as JEPI or JEPQ etc. Thank you!
Problem with REITs is the dividends get taxed as ordinary income
Thanks for your recommendation on CALF in a previous video this year. I was looking for something in the small cap value segment, and high free cash flow/price "scratched that itch". Like you said, it's been flat to down this year, but like the old monk in "High Road to China" said: "the ox is slow, but the earth is patient." Over the years I have learned to be patient with a well thought out investment plan.
Very wise my friend
Problem with REITs is the dividends get taxed as ordinary income so it’s a better type of investment for people who are retired.
Is it more tax favorable to have the REIT in your Roth IRA?
@@pasleyscorner but in the end you still have to pay your taxes. I had owned a bunch of REIT before and I realized the growth with the dividend wouldn’t compare to just owning S&P 500 stock or something like SCD to me. It makes sense to stick with lower dividend and higher growth or a blend of it.
2 for 2 on those REITs!!! Got some O and VICI… but now you are making me wonder about VNQ! Great video!
Thankyou!
The efficient market hypothesis (EMH) is a financial economics theory that states that financial markets are effective at processing all available information, making it difficult for investors to consistently outperform the market.
Yup!
Professor! Get the "I LOVE SCHD" T-shirt already! Anyways.. thanks.. love your content!
Professor G, can you talk bit on UK audience for best 3 ETF Fund portfolio thank you.
I have VTI, VXUS, VUG, VBR, VNQ and VICI
Nice! You like those vanguard funds!
It’s been so easy to make money, markets can’t be stopped….lets goooo
Big fan! Thank you for all the insights and guidance
Happy to help where I can!
Why deviate from the recommended three etf portfolio at all. Anything else just encourages trading and paying too close attention to market fluctuations. In 20 years who cares about what the fed just did.
I'm interested to know as well...do we add on to the 3 etf portfolio with these? I'm looking for Australian equivalents but this video provides good info.
Some of us enjoy flavor
It’s pretty simple really. He’s not advocating for you to dump your 3 fund portfolio but you can take information on sectors that do well during different phases of the market and add those into your investment for a while to take advantage of those potential gains while they rise. You can then hold if you wish or sell and add those profits into your 3 fund portfolio. If you’re not interested in it just stick to the straight 3 fund portfolio and you’ll do fine but some of us would like to get higher rates of returns on some of our money when the opportunity presents itself.
I have my 3 fund portfolio and also hold small amounts of IBIT, ETHA, SMH, ITB, SCHH and a few others. I’ll add in a little CALF and AVUV now too. I’ll never have more than 25% of my investment from each account outside of the 3 fund portfolio so that 75% or more of my money in each brokerage account is in the 3 fund portfolio always.
What do you think about iShares USRT REIT?
VOO, SCHD, VNQ
Thanks, Professor G! Would you suggest rebalancing my portfolio a bit, or hold current positions and just look to buy up chunks of the suggested ETFs in my buying cycle over the next few weeks/months?
I’d add TLT to this list. The long end of curve will see huge adoption as the Fed lowers the front end.
I can see that
Excellent video. Thanks for the ideas with the etfs you presented. Further research required but I'm with you on a couple of them I' m already researching. Also checking into XLK and XLI currently. Thanks. Fish.
Thanks for the great insight, Professor G. My concern is that small cap and reits would tank hardest in a recession. Thoughts?
My current new investments dollar-cost averaging are CGDV, IYW, COWZ, XLE. I have been in CALF for a while. Interesting topics always.
I own AVGE and HERD to own all of the worldwide equity market as a core holding in my wife's taxable account. In addition, GLBL and DFAC are in one of her IRA's for global developed market stocks (GLBL) and a U.S. diverse group of companies of all sizes (DFAC).
The “great rotation” lasted about 3 weeks. Glad I didn’t fall for that ruse. I’m staying out of mid and small caps for now.
Very helpful. Thank you!
love the small cap section!
for midcap and small cap, can you clarify why value play over blend?
I know value play right now might be great. but if I am investing long term, would blend be a bad idea?
REITS generally suck at all times vs benchmarks....good luck
What do you think about splg?
That’s a great one!
Very smart video. I hoped that you would be more bolder.
I like , I at my middle age, one half in QQQM and the rest in VOO. If market crashes 40 percent down, I will hide under rocks for 2 years and eat my savings . I will see you all on the other end when sun is Shang in the blue skies. LOL!
It is working for now and survived 1 or 2 crash’s unscathed.

Great info!
Thank you!
Great video Prof G! I also like this ETF: symbol QDPL (US Large Cap Dividend Multiplier) from 400 top large caps that pay dividends and growth potential.
this is a great insight, always love hearing from you.
in addition to these kind of videos, it would be great if you could speak to the kind of investment accounts that exist, and explain which ones are good for what reasons. example - Roth IRA, 401k, taxable brokerage, backdoor Roth, HYSA, mega backdoor Roth, etc.
I have done that! Check some of my older ones!
@@NolanGouveia will check em out, thanks Prof G
Great intel… thank you for sharing! IPPON
Always!! IPPON
Talking about ETF of REITs, could you please give your opinion on XLRE, or even compare it with VNQ that you mentioned? Thanks for the video.
Hey Prof G. I have been considering AVUV in my portfolio for some time. One of the unique features of the fund seems to be a focus on something called factor investing. Is this something you could elaborate on?
Vtv looks like a good value to add to my portfolio. Also random question, but what fo you use to make your thumbnails? Looking great man
I use canva! Thanks brother
I’m looking for a global dividend eft excluding tech?
For small cap ETF, I like XSMO!
XSMO has a FIVE star rating!
I definitely agree with the last part of the video. I keep around 10 to maximum 15% in bonds and cash. On a downturn event in which my equities go really down, that's what the rebalancing is for.
In brokerage or tax deferred account?
@@soniaevans-ty7gz I'm Canadian and we have this thing called TFSA (Tax Free Savings Account) in which you can invest tax free in there. That's where I save my 3 etf's. The neat part is that you can always withdraw at any time without any penalty which is perfect for those who wish to retire before retirement age of 65 or if you're hit with a crazy big ass unexpected expense and need to sell your etf's to pay for it if it's larger than your emergency fund although technically your Emergency fund can also be placed inside the TFSA, but you are just wasting contribution room.
I don't think the US have anything similar to that.
@@soniaevans-ty7gz I'm Canadian, so it's in a TFSA (Tax Free Savings Account). Just like the name says, everything is tax free, no taxes on dividends and no taxes on capital gains if you sell it. Also you can withdraw those funds at any time. I don't think there's an investing vehicle similar to this in the US, but I could be wrong.
What do you think about VTWO for the Russell 2000/small caps? I've put funds in this since 2020 and it's up nicely this year.
What's the difference between a growth stock, value stock and blue chip stock? google says they are all different
Hi Proff!! One question: What's your take with xdiv (Canadian dividend etf). Would love to know your thoughts.
Hello, I am 30 years old and have 100k to invest. Is it okay to put it all in VOO and not touch it for 30-40 years? I will also open a Roth IRA and put in $600 a month plus 10k worth of SCHD.
Sounds good and safe and efficient!
I put all of my assets and contributions in my employer S&P 500 fund (10% annual average) but I started with about $6K at 30. Salary was about $30K at the time. Thirty-four years later, and I’m at $3.5 million. Never moved it, never tried to time the market. It WILL experience great ups and great downs (Tech Bubble Burst 2000, 2007 financial disaster), but just stay the course.
Just keep in mind you can't put securities into a Roth IRA. Your contributions must be in cash and then you can buy the stock/etf once the cash is in the account.
I might have missed it but at the end of the video you said it would be a good idea to have money you aren't investing or leaving in a HYSA off to the side, but where would you recommend we put it? I was wondering about that because I have about half my money in the market and the other half in a HYSA, not including my emergency fund. I don't feel comfortable with moving almost all of my money to the market but I don't know where to keep it if not in a HYSA.
Fidelity money market is still like 4.9%....
These FED cuts are a hot topic these days!! Nice thumbnail tho 😄
Such a hot topic! Just keep up the 👌fund portfolio and we will be gooooood
I’m investing based on P/E ratios right now. People saying a 30-40 P/E ratio is value now is ridiculous.
Which investments have you chosen recently?
I’d still consider Costco a much better investment right now compared to AT&T, even given their respective P/E ratios. That one metric does not paint a great picture.
@@NolanGouveia Lowe’s has been great! It’s higher now but I bought a bunch when it was at about 17. I also do the VTI and VYM as about 80% of my portfolio so when I say I’m investing in p/e I mean the other 20%!
For what is worth. Using P/E ratios as an isolated metric is not a good strategy. You would be focusing only on value stocks and neglecting growth stocks. Also, you run the risk of choosing cheap companies because investors perceive they are risky and are not willing to pay a higher price. I suggest using Morningstar, seeking alpha or similar services to use a wider range of indicators and make more informed decisions.
@@Mywalkingblog that is fair, but again ultimately again vast majority of my investing is into ETFs! So with the stocks I buy in very selective. I look at p/e, dividend history, and return on invested capital!
Thought on CUBE REIT? ex div coming up. Financials look solid
What are your thoughts on SPLG vs VOO?
They are the same thing so I like them equally!
What about VBR? Thanks
VBR is another great one!
AVUV > VIOO > VBR
When interest rate goes down, growth stocks go up ! It’s easier for small companies to scale… you are saying it exactly
Opposite
Any emerging markets fund recommendations? US valuations seems a bit stretched
Small cap VIOO is I am thinking about Prof G. What is your opinion ?
That’s a good one yes!
Got 45% in VGT…would it be a good idea to cut it down or move all your QQQM, which is more diversified?
I had small cap for over 10 years ( VBK) never did anything.
What do you mean by did nothing?!
@@suicidalpotato9235 compare VBK with VTSAX ( which I had both for the past 10
Years) i would have better off skipping VBK
And going all in on VTSAX.
If I already have a position in SCHD what would I be getting out of investing in VLV that would be different?
Typical 5 fund portfolio is going to have S&P 500 or Total Market, Mid-Cap, Small-Cap, International, and Bond. The allocations will be based on your risk tolerance. One of my Roth accounts has this makeup and has returned 15+% YTD, and the small cap fund has returned 10+%.
I have 275K in CD money maturing end of October, should I wait for a dip in QQQ or other ETF before adding to it?
moo moo is not available in UK England. very sad.
As a 19 year old do you recommend putting my dividend portfolio as a Roth IRA or a regular Brokerage?
I’d always recommend getting that Roth going strong and then if you have a little extra then start funding the brokerage
Wall Street and investors will be adding Big Tech and other sectors of the market on top of that as the Fed Cuts Rates more.... and markets will continue rising.
At 49 just starting out in 3 fund portfolio, what percentages would you have in voo, schd, and schg?
I think he does QQQM instead of SCHG!!
40, 40, 20 typically.
Holy Cow!
Professor G!
I’ve asked your opinion about Vtv months ago.
Personally, I find Schd, Vtv, balance out my Splg,Schg,Ftec portfolio.
And yes, when tech is up,Vtv and Schd are boring but it’s about diversifying.
Professor G. How can I get I reach out?

I’m new to investing and all your videos have provided great recommendations! I like the 3 fund portfolio but have been thinking of maybe other ETS for more diversification. For retirement accounts that we dont olan on touching for 30 years, would it be more wise to just stick with the foundation/dividend/growth 3 part 1/3 each portfolio, or would you recommend moving money from the growth into a small cap etf temporarily?
Some in small cap is not a bad move for this next year or two
I have SCHD, SCHX,SOXQ, and VYM, what do you think and I'm up 15 to 30% in all

What mechanism do you use to invest in ETFs?
Not to sound obtuse, but we're somewhat new at this, and want our kids(19-21yos) to start learning to invest, researching and monitoring their investments and build a portfolio.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks Professor!!
Hi there! I use Charles schwab or Fidelity as those are my top 2 investment platforms to invest with!
Avuv is similar to vbr but vbr has always unpreformed vioo, so how do you explain it?
I've heard people say to get QQQM over QQQ due to the lower expense ratio, but outside of that are they actually the same?
Hi professor G, what is your input about FXAIX? and from my employer plan, this is the only one that is good, there's no option for SCHD, VOO or QQQM. second, is it a good idea to wait till after the election to buy any ETF right now?
Thanks Nolan!! Liked 👍 the video, as per usual. Ill continue to watch and to contribute to your success, as well. Ill never forget the $100 I won, out of the 10 chosen, from your video last year. Subscriber for life, here! Cheers dude. Have a great day.
Amazing my friend! Thanks for the support!
VNQ or any real estate etf is more ideal in a Roth, correct?
Yes based on taxes
Depends, if you only worry about taxes, then yes. But for me, I am all in for VTI, QQQM, SCHG with 30 years to grow in my ROTH. Growth is far more important than worry about the taxes. I can later sell it without having any taxes and buy Reits ETF or SCHD.
Another asset thats going to explode is turnkey multifamily properties. You heard it from me first
Would you recommend to invest into real estate mutual funds through our 403b with upcoming rate cuts. It’s been down 4% since the beginning of the year.
Is this good regarding SCHd Etf ? Effective after markets close on October 10, 2024, this ETF will undergo a 3-for-1 share split. The ETF share split will apply to shareholders of record as of the close of markets on October 9, 2024, payable after the close of the markets on October 10, 2024. Shares will begin trading at their post-split price on October 11, 2024. Forward share splits increase the number of shares outstanding and decrease the Net Asset Value (NAV) per share. The share splits will not change the total value of a shareholder’s investment.
