White is associated with purity and virginity. So to wear off-white during the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, wedding etc. is seen as more "fitting" to some people. At the end of the day, if it's your wedding and it's paid for, wear what you want.
It is stupid since the white wedding dress tradition wasn't started to represent purity or virginity. It just became popular after queen Victoria did it for the first time at her wedding. That's it, no deeper meaning.
I suppose people either don't know who they are or they do, but only know so much about them and wouldn't recognise them. How can you overlook something you're not familiar with or not familiar enough with? - Maria
I adored this as a kid. There’s a lot of scenes that weren’t shown on the Disney version too. If you guys are looking for something similar to this I recommend Wish Upon A Star with a young Katherine Heigl. It’s very good!
i've watched a lot of mowry films and tv but i was todayyyy years old finding out there's another mowry. why'm i 30 years old and never knew????? mind = blown
Adore the back-and-forth between the grandparents in this movie! Both the adult actors and the teenage actors do an amazing job. Especially teenage Grandpa. Young Gene is my favorite part of the movie. The “don’t need your permission to do it!” scene is an absolute crackup for me. Every time. And him trying to train some gentleman behavior into the boys is such fun juxtaposition. Anyone else hella confused by the censored version of this movie? So much was cut out, the second time I saw it was like seeing a new movie when I saw the uncensored version. Has anyone ever had a computer say “what’s up?” to them? That never made sense. Regarding the whole Sydney-Kat parallel: this is the one aspect of the story that really didn’t work. I think the actual parallel was about the resentment both characters feel toward the person that they think wrecked their life, and the lack of accountability. For Sydney that’s Monique. For Kat that’s Gene. Sydney doesn’t hate her new city, she hates that Monique came into her life and disrupted everything. She resents her stepmother simply because she was the catalyst for change. Because of her, dad remarried, they moved, new school, new job, new friends. And all of it at the end of high school. While Kat resents Gene for what she thinks is not being happy with their life together, pre-Australia. She is so bitter because she believes he wrecked their lives over a folly. And when he chose the folly over coming back to her, that formed her resentment. I think the resentment parallel gets lost because they spend too much time on the cheerleader drama. But the real resolution to the resentment issue is that both Kat and Sydney had to learn to take responsibility for their resentment. To understand/acknowledge it’s existence. That’s why at the end of the movie Sydney is nicer to Monique and Kat has fully forgiven Gene. Because it was never actually about Monique or Gene. It was about accountability. Enjoyed rewatching this with you two. Glad you liked it.
Which one do you like better: this version or the version with Zac Efron? Me personally, I like this verson, mainly because I grew up with it, and I love the Mowery sisters. As for the white dress thing, it's becaue traditionally, white is only used on virgin brides as the color represents purity. That's why a lot of second marriages don't use that color.
That's fair, but that's not what is perplexing to us. It's that one specific representation of not just a couple of people sneaking into a regular club, but actually having dozens of teens in a non-teen club and it just being a standard, a normal thing - Maria
56:50 And you also gotta wonder if Sydney's dad even knew about this and how it's affected him growing up and having to deal with this dynamic for 20 years. Like yes, we see that he clearly is the level-headed one in the family, but how much of that came from being told to not be like the parent he wasn't with at the time?
This was my MOVIE! Loved seein yall reaction 😂😂 Tahj Mowry later starred in a Disney Channel movie that was similar to this called The Poof Point. Yall will love that film too
01:04:58 that ko punch is friggin classic.😂😂😂 the swing dance scene is my fave. tia and tamera trained in dance as well but didn't get a lot of chances to showcase it. So that was great
@51:28 I think there are a few cultural barriers that may be preventing you from being able to relax and maybe learn about something you don't have much experience or knowledge of. Places like this very much still existed in the late 90's/early 2000's, maybe not as much now but this setting is not at all a "made up imaginary place". My own grandparents danced and went out to clubs like this when they were young. They're not playing the typical "smooth jazz" they're probably familiar with this is more swing and "big band" (like you mentioned) so the dancing and atmosphere is quite accurate.
I love Tia and Tamera. I grew up watching "Sister, Sister". Its a fun show! If you've never seen it, a reaction to it might be fun? If not, you could watch it on your time. Its super silly. Lol! Thank you for the reactions. ❤ Edit: I forgot! Their little brother Tahj is also in the TV show "Smart Guy" where he plays a very smart child. Another show that would make a good reaction. Lol OK, I'm done now. Lol
I remember that show! I watched some episodes of it on Disney. Omar Gooding revealed in an interview that the show was canceled because Taj wanted more money and stopped showing up to the set to get them to raise his salary (which explains why Taj wasn't in that third year very much and why there was an episod where Taj wasn't in it at all).
Thanks so much! I don’t think we’d do the show here, just cause committing to a whole show is a lot. We gotta be careful about what shows we chose to do, so there’ll only be a select few - Sam
teen clubs were a pretty regular thing where I grew up in the US. Like specific clubs for teens. They were for 13+ but people 18+ were allowed in some of them. You would use a fake ID to buy alcohol in the ones that were 18+, not necessarily to get into the club. Or you would sneak alcohol into the teen club lol unsupervised times. The ones in my hometown have since shut down (for the better!!)
Totally fair for teen clubs. We were talking about regular clubs with lots of teenagers in them (not a couple of people sneaking in), and how it's portrayed as such a standard thing in a lot of tv shows and movies. Like nobody realises that all of these teenagers are here. It's more about how we see one specific representation most of the time - Maria
Another disney movie thats similar to this is called the poof point, the twins little brother is also in it,instead of him being the scientist the parents are
12 years a slave, Alice, The Help, Hidden Figures, Get Out, Black Panther all within the last decade and you don’t think we’ve had a fun time with black film? We’ve had a black film renaissance
Swing had a mini revival in the 00s. I still don’t know if jazz clubs were that cool ( I wasn’t old enough) but it was a fad for young people at the time.
OMG Sam for Sydney's hair style in the bathroom scene when I was 10 my sister would always want to do that style on me. never on her but me. UGH I hated it the pain 🙄 Maria if you ever had that hair style you know the scalp pain, hair tightness 🥺
When I was younger I never wanted to take a lot of pills either when I got older, but now I’m 22 and I take 6 different pills every day now because I started having seizures and anxiety attacks so now I have to deal with it 😂
Disney Channel used to show this movie a lot when I was growing up in the late 90s/early 2000s. This was during the height of the Mowry siblings' popularity. However, they did skip over the sex ed scene. 😅
Oh I love this movie and twitches!! Ooh also if you guys are taking recommendations PLEASEEEE do Julie and the Phantoms. It gets corny and cringey at times. But the music is SO good. Especially for a Julie (a 14-15 year old girl singing). Unfortunately Netflix cancelled the show which sucks because it leaves on a cliffhanger. The girl who plays Julie, (Madison) is now 20 years old. I’d give the show a chance.

Correct!
Fun Fact: Boyz 2 Men was the band playing at the Jazz club. A lot of people tend to overlook that
I suppose people either don't know who they are or they do, but only know so much about them and wouldn't recognise them. How can you overlook something you're not familiar with or not familiar enough with? - Maria
@@samandmariachannel Also, Shawn Stockman (the guy who was singing) was hugely responsible for the soundtrack of the movie.
I adored this as a kid. There’s a lot of scenes that weren’t shown on the Disney version too. If you guys are looking for something similar to this I recommend Wish Upon A Star with a young Katherine Heigl. It’s very good!
I love that movie too.
The Mowry siblings also have another brother. His name is Tavior. All of them can sing but Tavior and Tahj are also in the music industry.
Wow idk they have another brother 😮
i've watched a lot of mowry films and tv but i was todayyyy years old finding out there's another mowry. why'm i 30 years old and never knew????? mind = blown
I had such a crush on young grandpa❤
YES

😂 the phrase for skipping school or work was hilarious. I was confused at first. But in America we call it skipping or playing hookie. Lol
45:30 there were actual teen clubs in that time. It was a specific club for teens so just like a regular club but no alcohol.
That's fair, but that's not what is perplexing to us. It's that one specific representation of not just a couple of people sneaking into a regular club, but actually having dozens of teens in a non-teen club and it just being a standard, a normal thing - Maria
A staple of my childhood. I had a major crush oh Tahj Mawory when I was younger
I grew up watch this one. Every chance I got I would would rewatch this movie.
56:50 And you also gotta wonder if Sydney's dad even knew about this and how it's affected him growing up and having to deal with this dynamic for 20 years. not the a day to remember reference lmaoooo. i've seen them live a few times, including recently, and that song STILL makes the crowd go crazy!
This was my MOVIE! Loved seein yall reaction 😂😂 Tahj Mowry later starred in a Disney Channel movie that was similar to this called The Poof Point. Yall will love that film too
Thanks so much 😊 - Sam
The end of this movie seriously makes me wish we got a sequel just to see how the formula works on someone in their 40s and under lol
This one is my favorite 17 again. This is the one I grew up with. Zach Efron okay. I absolutely love your hair Maria.
Totally fair. And thank you 🙏🏻😊 - Maria

They were both in an episode of “ are you afraid of the dark” tale of the chameleon”
Thanks so much!

This is a underrated classic. Dope reaction🔥🔥🔥
Glad we watched it. Thank you 🙏🏻😊 - Maria

One on my favorite wholesome movies ❤❤❤
Lovely 😊✨ - Maria
Loved this reaction. Can’t wait to see more ❤️
Thanks so much! Hope you enjoy our other videos 😊✨ - Maria
I forgot they had a Boys II Men performance bin this movie!!! 😮
Thanks for letting us know 😊 I only know so much about them and I’ve only heard a little bit of their music - Maria
This is such a classic 2000s made for TV movie lol. You have to turn your brain off and just enjoy because they always make no sense LOL
this reminds me to let you know about the edge of seventeen!
How is Boyz II Men just casually acting as a jazz band? 😂
Another disney movie thats similar to this is called the poof point, the twins little brother is also in it,instead of him being the scientist the parents are
This movie always reminded me of the dcom the poof point, which also has tahj mowry
American living in Aus the last year, I live in the Whitsundays but I love Sydney lol
I hear you. I can see how Sydney might be fun to visit, but living here is a totally different story - Sam
If you guys enjoy classic DCOM, she definitely check out The Poof Point with Taj Mowry. It pretty much follows a similar plot, but a lot more wacky.
Haha I just commented this before I saw your comment i said almost the same thing 😂😂
I totally forgot about that movie
There was teen clubs in the past. Not this big to my knowledge. But it was definitely a thing.
This was such a special time in film during my childhood. Such a fun time for Black film, hasn’t really been this fun since.
12 years a slave, Alice, The Help, Hidden Figures, Get Out, Black Panther all within the last decade and you don’t think we’ve had a fun time with black film? We’ve had a black film renaissance

There’s like no reactions of this movie I’m so excitedddd
Hope you enjoyed it 😊 - Sam
Thank you for reacting to this. Fun movie this is.
Yeah, we enjoyed it 😊 - Maria

Wearing white is suppose to symbolize being a virgin or “pure” when getting married so Maria was right it has to do with religion
The American version of "chucking a sicky" would be "playing hooky". Same concept of skipping work or school without permission.
What about sister sister? The show is from the 90s
Thanks For This Reaction,Guys! Please Do Flubber! 🤔🥰🤗🖥💕
I'm not sure if the family moved to Canada or somewhere on the East Coast
According to the Wikipedia, they moved to Connecticut
Awesome 😎.
Where can we stream Seventeen Again??? Sorry if you already said I'm just starting the video. I dont think its on Disney ➕️
There's another movie called seventeen/17 again?! Had no idea
Yeah haha. This one is from 2000 apparently- Sam
@jadebel7006 there’s another movie called seventeen again that came before these two? - Maria
35:26 we call it playing hooky at least where I’m from
Kat's logic was girl math, plain and simple.
Man I saw this when I was a hidden Seth. If ur unsure what I mean… feel free to ask.
Traditionally you don’t wear white unless you’re a virgin.
Thanks for the info 👌 - Sam
she’s not a virgin so she can’t wear white to her wedding
If we chuck a sicky too many times the school resource officer will send child services to our parents home 😭
Its stupid but the whole wearing white thing goes for second marriages and non virgins because it represents purity.
