8:11 Hey, Salami! I think we found one of your missing siblings. Guess there's more than two of you still alive. So this game is basically Ten Desires and Earthly Miraculous Sword all in one, huh?
You know, is it possible that Yato is blind? Snakes historically rarely rely on their eyesight, and you can see in the dialogue that Yato NEVER opens her eyes. Perhaps because of her line of work as a metallurgist, she's gotten her eyes burned out by light or filled with metal vapors, and she's simply grown not to need them anymore. Plus, when she does open her eyes in her action pose, you can see that they're barely open at all, only enough to let out Orochi's iconic red glow, but seem to remain closed otherwise.
Late, but my personal headcanon with the nonspells is that the big balls are blobs of molten metal, and she's such a good blacksmith that she can strike them a single time with her hammer and instantly make them into excellent swords. The music notes, which are almost always a secondary part of the attack, represent the ringing sound of a hammer against a blacksmith's table. I don't have any evidence for this but I think it's a neat interpretation, at least.
Wow, I was pretty impressed with this Extra Stage. I hadn't ever seen it before (I don't normally play a lot of the ido fangames) so I was really shocked to see that it's so good. I knew the Phantasm stage was coming, buuuut I've never seen that in recent memory! All I know is that Elfin Mint is in it iirc and I'm excited for that. But now it's time to get back to coding, I've fallen a bit behind schedule.
Different ido game is all. In the 4th one White Names Spoiled Past she appears as a md-boss alongside Vinkawars (the Koishi looking girl in the ending screens of this game) in that Extra Stage. ido really loves putting a member of The Last Comer as an Extra mid-boss in every game it seems.
MegamanOmega Oh ok, it was WNSP. I usually know that one better so that makes sense for me to remember that a bit more clearly. In that case I know nothing about this Phantasm stage, so that'll be fun.
My guess about Yato liking music notes so much is that DDC was the cool new thing when this game was in development, so ido just HAD to put the new bullet type somewhere. ...and really, I can't think of a bullet type that'd fit Yato's nonspells better. Notes just seem appropriate for them somehow.
Trivia time: Yato may had a namesake aside from Yamata no Orochi (as noted by her second spellcard). There is a group of snake deities called Yato-no-Kami. Does she look like some sort of hip blacksmith because she has a "lot of swords"? Because that's the only reason (if there is any) that I can come up to.
ido seems to also have similar design philosophies in his characters too. Think about it. Ido's extra little Touhous come equip with: Purple/bluish hair a short stature at least one article of greenish clothing and little bearing on their game's plot
This guy has a crazy love with making the Extra boss have absolutely nothing to do with the game's plot. I wanted to say he got over that with this game, but then I played the Phantasm... Good to know he's not letting that trope die.
Shooting note...Isn't it because she's building up her image of a rock star, and thought shooting rock bullet is how the true rock star...rock on? Also, some of her's spell card name is really hillarious, especially the third sword...wonder how she isn't getting fried yet?
Orochi...hydra...singing... Could they have been referencing the False Hydra from Dungeons and Dragons? I mean, that thing is known for its singing, though it was still a true hydra; it just used singing to alter the perception of its victims. In this case, it would be that they are saying that Yamata no Yato is not an actual hydra. Also, never look up the False Hydra unless you are a fan of horror stories. Dungeon Masters only pull that thing out when they want to terrify and torture their players. T_T
1) I hope these new "annotations" of mine were visible just fine then... I still hate RUclips for geting rid of them, but I really hope it has allowed people to watch my videos better 2) The keys alone were a minor thing that was explained in the pre-game dialog. Basically because of the evens of The Last Comer, and Mystical Power Plant Yukari was sick of gigantic and problematic things falling into Gensokyo willy nilly, so she created a "buffer zone" just outside the barrier between Gensokyo and the outside world to slow down things coming in. This buffer zone is known as the Other World you've seen the others referring two, and Reimu and Marisa needed a key from Yukari to get into it. Futo needed a key too so Miko made her one.
It's a rule for me. Whenever I finally do get a successful run it's gotta be despite a slew of stupid deaths on some of the easiest attacks I could usually do with ease.
Good question. The "English Patch" you see isn't a patch, that's just editing magic. But at the same time, this should work. Haven't tried it for myself though www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,17407.msg1348775.html#msg1348775

Between this and Len'en, I wonder if these guys have a thing for tormenting Orochi. I still have to wonder if each head is it's own person.

"Even with just one head, I'm always evolving!"
cue the Pokémon evolution song.

Elfin Mint isn't present at all in this game.
Satori Komeijist I thought she was a midboss. I may be thinking of something else.

Maybe... probably... could be the case. I just really felt like I was missing something about her when I was playing that.
Maybe because she want to build up her image of a rock star then? She seems wimpsical enough for that.

This is what happens when you play the game, but don't change the system local to Japanese...
Happens with locale emulator too.

UrriagaFTW Actually, my first impression when Ifirst saw her was "Blacksmith." If I wasn't told she was a hydra, I never would have known.

21:29 Is it gonna be a bottle opener?
i hope you figured out how to capture the phantasm survival
Yeaaaaaah... about that...
Why am I suddenly scared to what we're getting next week?

Two things:
1) First time watching one of your videos on my phone!!
2) What was with the whole key plot line?? I missed something....

Wasn't expecting a phantasm stage. Not at all. After all, there wasn't a phantasm stage in the other ones...
Looks like you're weak against simplest spells and non-spells but bullets coming from behind is your speciality
It's a rule for me. Whenever I finally do get a successful run it's gotta be despite a slew of stupid deaths on some of the easiest attacks I could usually do with ease.
And that's why i'm still watch your gameplays: stupid deaths
That and for the death relays whenever he plays Castelvania-styled fangames.
Death by Kitty 2 "The Sequel Nobody Asked For!!"
How u get the English patch
