Fun fact! All 4 phases of Kiyohime's last spell reference different Touhou fangames: Impossible Spell Card Reverse, Magical Singular Day, Marine Benefit, and Phantasm Romance, respectively. As for the survival, you could always pause the game to watch Vierne's clear of it on RUclips. It's basically static, disregarding fireballs. Not sure if anyone'll read this, but this is the route I like to use. 1. Start at the bottom center of the screen. For the first 3 sets of paper dolls (red, orange, yellow), you can just jump to the top center as the red dolls redirect at you, then back to the bottom center as the orange dolls redirect, then to the top center with the yellow dolls. Make dodges through the butterfly walls as necessary to stay in position. 2. As soon as the green paper dolls spawn, move to the middle of the left wall (4th square down from the upper left corner). When the green dolls redirect towards you, move to the square on the 2nd row and 2nd column from the upper left corner. You'll have to make a little dodge through the butterfly walls- it helps to stay in the lower left corner of that square. 3. Move back to the top center as the blue paper dolls spawn. Dodge some butterfly walls, and once they redirect, slowly move counterclockwise around the screen, staying along the squares closest to the walls. At some point, the purple delay cloud for the butterfly is going to catch up to you, so just move along with it. 4. Finally, once you're back at the top of the screen, move to the square on the 1st row, 2nd column. Again, slowly move counterclockwise around the screen, moving with the purple delay cloud. Dodge the last fireballs and butterflies, and you're done!
One thing I've always loved about Kiyohime is that her aura typically matches the color of the spell she's using, which is also the same as the color of the previous spell. They don't always line up (Often her spells just contain many colors), but it's visible in her first spell as she summons a purple aura and fires purple bullets right after using a purple nonspell.
QED Shinki's Sealed Room Murder works like that: 1) every time a familiar enters a square, it activates shortly after 2)familiars alternate bouncing normally and bouncing aimed at you 3)butterflies There's actually a route for this. Vierne showed one.
YAAAAYYYY!!! Impossible spell card next!!!!Will you be going for a no item run or a basic item run?Either way HYPED!Also yeah this game looks really interesting might try it out.
Damn, I expected you to do overdrive as well. Oh well. Do NOT do no item ISC by the way. Massive waste of time. You're better off just playing through it normally instead.
This phantasm really seemed fun! My favorite aspect of RSS by far has been the music, it's been a pleasant surprise to hear. I'm looking forward to ISC but I don't really remember my first trek through it. I might have to no-item it sometime, but Remi's "let's play tag" scene has kept me from beating it ever since it came out...I just can't figure it out. I'm looking forward to seeing you beat it and hopefully do better than I did haha. (Now it's time to celebrate my 18th birthday doing what I always do...Touhou and programming)
Man, this Phantasm stage (and the boss too, of course) sure was a thing. Was kinda surprised that Kiyohime didn't have her super long Yukari-ripoff survival card. I guess that only shows up in Overdrive mode. Also, for Sealed-Room Murder, for anyone curious, Vierne showcased how to get through it safely: ruclips.net/video/ihIJHOeKbYI/видео.html By the way, Omega, for ISC, will you be using items, or will you be showcasing how to beat each spellcard item-less?
Yeah, that's why I've seen people give that spell so much crap. It plays like it belongs as a bonus spell, like IN's Last Words, or Spell Card Collection stuff, not the ultimate final spell in the game. And as for ISC... honestly I haven't decided yet... I've been sick for the past couple weeks so I actually haven't been able to start playing yet... I'll figure it out depending on just how hard item-less clearing the game is.
22:14 Me neither. I mean, if youkais can read minds once they get strong enough, shouldn't Yukari (fellow Phantasm Boss) be able to read minds? We know she can't. Otherwise, Silent Sinner in Blue would've been *MUCH* different : If she kept her mind reading a tight secret. She wouldn't even need half the living decoys she had to use in the actual manga. But this is unlikely considering that I doubt that even Yukari could hide her mind reading from Eirin. If her mind reading was known, however, things would've been *RIDICULOUSLY COMPLICATED!* Eirin would have to plan around Yukari reading her mind while Yukari would have to plan around Eirin knowing she can read her mind. And knowing how xenophobic and paranoiac the Lunarians are, Toyohime would go all Hamee asking Eirin and Yorihime if she can kill Yukari (to which both would repeatedly say no) every time she is brought up (ex : Eirin : "Yukari should arrive at the Sea of Tranquility" Toyohime : "Can I kill her on the spot? She might know too much about us just by staying near you." Eirin and Yorihime : *"No"* Toyohime : "Aw"). Though I admit, Toyohime and Yorihime in some kind of Hamee and Ardey routine would make me laugh. See? No way she can read minds. And that's assuming that only Phantasm Level youkais are powerful enough to read minds (not counting satoris who have mind reading as a racial trait). There is always one line of powers and abilities that can be called "too far" : Patchy but better? She's based on the inventor of her style of magic, so... Her Shikigami is basically Letty raised up to the rank of Extra Boss minus the self-restraint? Well at least we can still kick said Shikigami's ass easier than we can kick Ran's... But mind reading with such a "falls flat on it's face" explanation. Sorry, but that's pushing it too far. I'm sorry ido, but you can't just create a Phantasm Boss from nowhere who you then proceed to imply to be stronger than Yukari like that (I dearly hope that's not what you're implying, ido). The last thing we want is another Mary Sue. We already have *TWO* Mary Sues in canon, we don't need fans to add new ones (which is much too late to say considering that the Touhou fandom has been making Isekai Garry Stus before it became the official trend of the second half of the 2010s). So don't proceed to add stuff like "can copy the powers of others (Yukari's included)" or "is the daughter of the Dragon God Himself" and other Suish traits like that. You've pushed the line far enough as it is.
I do feel it's important to note that I feel you're overvaluing Yukari a _tad_ But also important to note, Kiyohime is based off Abe no Seimei, who is known as the most prominent specialist of Onmyoudou in Japanese history. The very magic that Yukari herself uses (and no doubt played a role in ido opting to make Kiyohime a Phantasm boss, since trying to incorporate someone like Abe no Seimei into Touhou really shouldn't be anything less)
@@MegamanOmega184 Well if Kiyohime is supposed to be that much stronger, then I'd instead put her as at least Phantasm+Alpha to avoid confusion. But doing *THAT* may open another can of worms... OC power level debates can get ugly real quick. I would know... I dread to imagine what Stage Solomon would be at...
I'm pretty sure you would've had more lives for the final stretch if you bothered using your super mode. That's kind of the point of it, anyway. To get you out of a pinch. I can understand why you wouldn't. But that's just me. I know I would never be able to beat "Miss Giant Bell Burner From Nowhere" without the needed power boost.
The other thing is... and it's interesting that I'm commenting about this on a game with a Phantasm stage... PCB stage four is not as set in stone as you might think... I need to check to see if you actually covered each cooldown and spell card, 'cause it is possible to collect them all with just one character... just not in one run.
Nah, it's actually a reference to the Seven-star Sword. It's a sword originally owned by Prince Shotoku and there were tales about Abe no Seimei wielding it.
So i went and read the Futo/Miko dialogue, and about that whole "Phantasm unrelated to the rest of the story" thing.... I'd personally say you're half right half wrong....
I must be dense, or humorless (or both) but I don't get the joke/theory/meme of people thinking the green haired chick is Mima. I mean, tons of Touhous have similar features, don't you think? There's also that weird thing with Orange and Hong Meiling..... perhaps everybody in Gensokyo is the same character :P
If it was just the green hair, then no, I wouldn't have made the connection, however the similarities don't end there is the thing. One, she doesn't just have green hair, she has the _exact_ same hairstyle as Mima to boot, secondly she has the same eye color, thirdly her style of hat is quite similar to Mima's what with the main body being pointy with a slight horizontal flair like a traditional witches hat along with a single standoutish symbol on it, fourthly just as Mima is a ghost with no legs, rather a single ghost tail this girl similarly has no legs rather a single snake tail behaving in much the same way, and fifthly she's got this smug, not quite condescending, but definitely a "I know I'm stronger than you" attitude that Mima is _very_ much known for. Some may take it a step further and compare her relationship with Ruri to Mima's old relationship with PC-98 Marisa as well, but that's a bit of a stretch if you ask me. But regardless, she may have a different history and outfit, however every aspect of her personality and design is _way_ too similar to Mima to not expect people to make the comparison.

I agree Omega, just because Patchy can be a little hoarse from time to time does not mean that you should try and mount her.
"nyarly fight" is a reference to nyarlathotep not a cat's "nya" (meow)
