Billy Crystal is as great a guy as you think he is. I once encountered him at Disneyland when I went looking for a stroller I'd left near a planter. The stroller wasn't there but Billy Crystal was and he pointed in a direction and said "I think it's over there." I sat down near him and talked with him briefly. I've always been a fan but felt too awkward to tell him that, which I regret. An incredibly talented entertainer and a really nice man.
What a lovely story! Reminds me of the time I met Robin Williams. Man, we are truly lucky to have had some amazing comic legends in our lifetimes. Thank you for sharing :)
Billy showing how his Bob Woodward came out of Carol Channing was pure genius and spot on. His impressions on SNL were brilliant. His Carol Channing made me think of Bob The Drag Queen, though.😂😂
I love Billy Crystal. I had just turned 14 when Harry met Sally came out and I knew what movie i wanted to see for my bday. I loved it then and still watch it as one of my favorite comfort movies. My mom was like "ok, if you're sure you want to see that" I fell in love with Meg Ryan that day.
I have had the privilege of meeting both Carol Channing and Bob Woodward. That audience did not sufficiently appreciate Mr. Crystal’s accomplishment here. That was hilarious.
I’ve heard the name Billy Crystal 100 times but only saw him for the first time less than a week ago on a segment about the life of Muhammad Ali on Bob Costas’ sports show Back on the Record. In that 30 mins, I went from never knowing him to wishing I watched movies with him in them growing up. A man who deserves every inch of the silver screen
I want to give a thumbs up because you have learned about Billy Crystal, but a thumbs down because I can't believe you never heard of billy crystal before! But I guess it's possible that the young people might not be familiar. He HAS been in a movie (And is a friend) of Tiffany Haddish... so she's a young person!
Check out princess bride, check out Soap which you can get on Plex, and when harry met sally. Oh and city slickers. There’s lots. Edit: Billy Crystal played the first openly gay character on US TV. That’s the show Soap.
Wish Robin Williams was still with us and healthy. Whenever I see Billy or Whoopi I always go back to those first comedy fundraiser's they did together. They were amazing. And if you weren't around when Williams first hit as Mork from Ork on Happy Days you wouldn't believe how fast he became a huge star! Everyone wanted him to do a guest spot on their show. And that was before he even had his own show. His amazing talent was pouring out of him and nobody could get enough. Most who rose so fast burned out just as quick. But he just got better and more complex with his wonderful characters he owned in those film's. We could really use him now. It really is true the best die young. And he is dearly missed.
This man Billy i grew watching him in the seventies, we are te same age i miss his comedy , he is such a talent, and i cry when i see him , he brings back beautiful memories of my young age that is gone, i am glad to see him again still funny and sharp, god bless him , thank you for showing him to us.👏👏👏👏
Billy Crystal is ALWAYS great in an interview, but that Bob Woodward impression was so good, it was scary. Look out, Billy, he'll write a book about you!
When they interview him why do they never mention that his career started with a sitcom "Soap"? His gay character was a ground breaking role, and statrted his career.
So good to know Billy Crystal is still alive. He never got as big as Steve Martin or Robin Williams, or even Jerry Seinfeld, but he was good at playing old Jewish characters. Wrestling the president to the ground...damn funny.
Billy started on tv as the (horrors!) gay son dating a quarterback in SOAP. I do think he got as big as those dudes you mention, plus the comic Goldberg. She plus Williams and Crystal were international stars.
I know Billy Crystal has made a lot of fun movies, but “When Harry Met Sally “ is on my forever favorites list! I would stop to watch it if I come across it on tv or on a sentimental day just pop in the dvd!
im as old as Billy, remember the season he did on SNL and thought his shtick was old school borscht belt then. (although his Joe Franklin show bits were perfecto).
@@douglaslowe5 at the time, it could have been UHF. At the time cable was in its infancy, I heard it was invented for rural areas that weren’t able to get regular TV even. Maybe I misunderstood
"This may be the first time the Secret Service had to wrestle the President to the ground to protect us from HIM!" .. fantastic, haha.

Laughed so hard I peed a little!
Ten yard penalty, illegal holding 😁
That was fucking awesome right on time
too bad it was a lie
I remember Billy as Jody on the TV show Soap....you came a long way baby!!!!
Billy Crystal is a treasure, and the Bob Woodward impression was spot on
It really was.
Insane!
I would describe it as respectful and affectionate.
doesn't sound like Woodward at all, he's missing the midwest angle
@@objuan6 if he didn't tell you it was Woodward, he would never know
Love Billy Crystal, he's a great comedian and really nice bloke.

@@MaryamofShomal What was that like?
It's nice that he took the time to speak to a lowly human such as yourself.
He knows.
I was here honestly multitasking until I heard Woodward, and looked up like “Wha-!?” HOLY CRAP that was a great impression.
I think his Peter Falk was great as well.
Funny
maybe get your ears checked.

Brilliant!! Love Billy so much, and I'm so happy to see him getting all the love from the audience.
LEGEND !!!
He looks marvelous!
Omg he had me with the Columbo impression! Lol! I haven't heard that since I was a kid watching reruns.Love it!
OMG that impression of Bob Woodward. At his age!

I agree with you! Love him and that movie!!! It is comfort!!
Thanks? The entire world was totally wondering what your personal experience was like. Please make a movie.A book and a movie actually.
Have you seen Forget Paris? I’ve always felt like it’s a more grown-up WHMS. Both movies are perfection! And City Slickers, too
"It is better to look good than to feel good"....."Baseball she's been good to me,",,,, How influential his comedy has been in my world!
You look mah-velous!
Hearing the champ by any means brings a tear to my eye.
I have had the privilege of meeting both Carol Channing and Bob Woodward. That audience did not sufficiently appreciate Mr. Crystal’s accomplishment here. That was hilarious.
They didn't appreciate what he was doing because they didn't understand it. His material is 40 years old.
It was inspired....
Perhaps wearing masks again made it harder for the audience to hear him? lol
I met Carol, I knew Carol, and she said emphatically "I don't sound like Bob Woodward"
Old material?

Columbo “ one more thing “.
Billy Crystal makes you belly laugh. He has a long history in acting and as a comedian. Much respect.
Oh my gosh, it's so good to see Billy. He looks good too! Aging gracefully...
MIRACLE MAX!!!
The Crystalline Entity there is reminiscing about things that happened well before I was born, and yet I still feel old.
What a legend. He can do accents while continuing the interview.
Billy Crystal what a wonderful man . Have fun storming the castle. Lol
“Have fun storming the castle!”
Yes! One of my favorite movie lines of all time!
Come to Chicago! I need Billy for some healthy laughs.

Billy Crystal is a brilliant mimic. So talented.
Thats more than an impression, its an Imitation 😂
Greatest.
Love Billy Crystal.
Who remembers Billy Crystal in SOAP?
I loved the Tates and Campbell's. Jodie was fantastic
Crystal is so good at impressions. nice to be reminded of all those great voices and characters.
Billy actually looks pretty great for his age. I honestly don't give him that much. I've seen people in their 50s here looking worse lol.
Billy Crystal is ALWAYS great in an interview, but that Bob Woodward impression was so good, it was scary. Look out, Billy, he'll write a book about you!
Luv your comment!
I remember watching City slickers when I was a kid. Where's this guy been?

His impressions are priceless. OMG. That Woodward was spot on. Columbo, also. If you close your eyes, you wouldn't know the difference.
