Same here! We used to eat ham then switched to veggie lasagna and last year we did pizza, hot wings, and onion rings. Going from boring and formal to informal is fun. Not sure what we should do this year.
Yeah, I treated this show as a comedy series about the crews lives and I'm actually committed in knowing about what's up with them.. And knowing Reggie's mom made me smile and feel good is one example of that.
I love how he just roasted the KitKat costume in this episode and then for the Halloween episode 2 days later his writers showed up to work wearing the exact same costume the shows wardrobe dept made at Ian’s request just to annoy James 😂

What I like about the James Corden's and Trevor Noah's shows is that their changing the much needed perspective of the American audience (the young in particular!!), hinting every once in a while that there's a whole world out there and countries OTHER THAN the States..(and other than the ones they're bombing).
My Italian paternal grandmother would spend 3 days before Thanksgiving cooking the most amazing Italian dishes. My American mom would have a token small turkey and dressing.

I showed up at my mother-in-law's house dressed to the ninth and brought chocolate. I noticed all other guests wore jeans. The table looked beautiful and everyone sat for dinner at 2:30 pm??? I had just had lunch! Nineteen minutes later, all the guys left the table with their plates to watch football. What the hell?

I'm vegan so my traditional Tgiv entree is acorn squash stuffed with wild rice and walnuts with dried cranberries and apples. So good! Then I'll make some sage dressing some kind of potatoes and a couple veg sides. Then my famous vegan pumpkin pie with secret spice addition.
Side dishes are regional for Thanksgiving. My family has always done candied yams. They are not mashed but in thick slices in a thick sweet syrup. No marshmallows.
Same here! They did a poll on BuzzFeed (not the most accurate statistical tool, I know) but candied sweet potatoes were actually more prevalently cooked than the marshmallow yams. I can also guarantee that the very way my family's meal is cooked today is exactly the same from a couple of hundred years ago. Thankfully someone took pictures, and jotted notes in a cookbook, and you can tell it's all the same food. The marshmallows, I think, are a Great Depression/ mid century thing. Some families never really got beyond it.

I wonder if marshmallows on yams is regional? I have never and would never. But then I don't eat the canned ones either, they taste like metal. I roast whole ones, slice, sprinkle with a little brown sugar and butter and broil till melted.

The trick is to put it in the oven upside-down, so that juices go to the top of the turkey meat and keeps it from drying. So many people cook it wrong then complain about it being dry...it baffles me

There are many Spanish types. One uses rice, another onions, the British ones traditionally use oats

Don’t have a dry turkey. Deep fry it. Will never go back to cooking them in the oven. Makes the white meat as juicy as the dark meat.
