The older rotary cars were just called Savanna's in a lot of countries until the FB came out and the then they started calling it the RX7 Savanna until the Savanna part just eventually faded away. They named them Savanna after the worlds first steam boat, i think the first Nuclear powered ship also had the same name.
I have to say i really love how the Japanese are getting into American car culture as heavily as we have gotten into jdm cars over here. That was one clean el camino!
All RX7 SA22C and FC3S were called savannah in Japan. Just the same as the RX3 was called the savannah in japan. Also the R100 was familia in japan, the RX2 was the Capella
Not quite. The mx5 isn’t called a eunos in japan, the mx5 is called a roadster in japan. Eunos was a sub brand of Mazda, like Lexus is a sub brand of Toyota. Eunos sold the roadster and Cosmo and probably some other models and eunos dealerships in japan.
Glad to see some normalcy is getting back in Japan. I will be keen to see what the Japanese do with the American imports and what makes and models become popular to import in Japan.
Subscribed man, I have an 80, I'm going to turbo mine after I rebuild it, gonna be doing a really unique setup with mine, can't wait to see what you have in store for yours. Not enough first gen channels on RUclips.

The symbol that Sam was talking about is actually used to signify temples in Japan. If you compare it to a swastika, you can see that it's actually slightly different in that the legs are going another direction.
my dad had a 78 rx7 sa22 savanna rhd that was imported into the states, everything was original and mint. although he sold it for 7k and part trade of a 83 fb... he regreted selling it
I think the small green hatch is a Mitsubishi Galant FTO. Obviously later, Mitsubishi separated FTO and Galant into two different models (similar to what Toyota did with the Celica Supra). Also, the dark grey FD RX-7 near the start looked like a RX-7 Spirit R!
All FC RX-7's sold in Japan were dubbed the "Savanna RX-7". It's just because the name was more recognized and impactful than it would be in North America.

Hey sam does Japan offer any type of special license plates for "classic cars"or "antique cars" for older model cars??? Like they do here in the States

@@ddoty2073 ngl I've always wanted to get a Carlton and turn it into a drift car. Never seen anyone do it but i feel like it would be a great platform and wouldn't need much besides the basic drift mods.

Savannah is the 79-85 model.. technically it's only 79-80 because they change the body style after 81. After that it's simply just the FB with various trims
Easiest way to tell what series a bmw and what engine is in it is if it has the badge on it is the first number is the series so a 435i is a 4 series with a 3.5L engine

The easiest way to tell the difference is the tail lights, SA's have the split separate tail lights. Some, if optioned for it, came with a super rare red reflecting center garnish that said Mazda RX-7 in a cool font. The FB's all came with connected tail lights, a center garnish that's non reflective in the middle. There was also an option FB's could have had, and is also rare, that is a red reflective center garnish which says RX-7 in cool font.
