3:46 I don't know how I missed that. Maybe if I had an editor, my QC would be better. The mistake will live on forever in this video and be a monument to poor work practices. Maybe I secretly like FCs more.
haha I was literally about to drop that gem in the comments. don't sweat it man I'm sure you were already having a long day at that point &it was a simple slip of the tongue. plus, as they say it takes a true man to recognize and own up to his mistakes.
Unsubbed
FC is the way to go
Everybody has a mistake now and then, a slip of the mind!! I love your content and i realize at 6:49 that if could suggest an idea for a segment in one of your videos is to explain Japanese license plates meaning of the different kanji and numbers!
"How Dare You!!" -Greta
"Is six a lot?" Depends on the context, Doritos in your bag of chips... no. Doritos in your Cosmo... yes!
Also, DoriFtos in your neighborhood in the morning...that would be a lot.
i want 5
@@MrLince-hr4of that would be interesting
The two rotors have good personality tho😅
@@ao8271 two is a lot though right? 😢
What a crack up. I'm from NZ & as you made that comment about the Luce I was thinking pretty much what you were inferring and I just started laughing my head 📴
Hahaha same, it was perfect
@@byron1dagg80 Dan Teboon had one back in the day.
Same. When he said there are not really any older rotary's in Japan I was thinking "because they are all in NZ".
@@AlexNZL We had it so lucky in the 90's/00's It was the best of times...
Am kiwi, can confirm also burst out laughing
"Turns out it's just a really good way to turn fuel into noise" cracked me up
And heat. So much heat.
That Luce is totally my vibe. Same goes for the fairly stock looking FC's on BBS-looking wheels.
Totally agree, I was surprised that the family wouldn't want to roll in it. Also, there's an SSR badge on that Luce's wheels, didn't know they made factory wheels for manufacturers.
Those bbs looking wheels on the fcs are made by bbs for mazda! They came stock on some fcs and na Miatas.
The Luce is where it’s at haha
that thing is sleeper AF. the momo steering wheel and the SSR wheels.
That car on wider wheels and lowered a bit would look killer
Man I’ve been watching noriyaro since I was like 10 and I’m turning 22 this year. Please keep doing what you do Alexi
3:09 wow that was uncalled for
"Turns out it's just a good way to turn fuel into noise." and "One of the downsides of rotaries is they're not exactly fuel efficient ..." are two of the greatest, and funniest, truisms about rotaries EVER.
Thanks for a superb video Alexi.
That SA is exactly how those cars should be built and driven. I'd say, even in the states you could build one up fairly cheap.
Yes they still are fairly affordable they haven't hit the drift tax yet last time I checked
@@QuantumPlaysOfficial Where do you live?
The car itself is cheap.
The fc suspension swap is a pain.
A 13b peripheral port is not cheap. About 3k for the ceramic apex seals alone.
He's probably running a turbo ii tranny. About 800 usd.
And lord knows what on his suspension. It looks like he still has thr live axel though.
@@The0Advent yeah these japanese guys go all in with their hobby just to satisfy themselves
@@The0Advent in total he has probably 18,000$ in that car ( 8 k engine, 3 k trans + suspension , 5k car !K other .. cheaper than a used econobox ..
crazy how the four-rotor almost sounds like a flat plane v8 and the six-rotor sounds like a bootleg Lamborghini. I guess that makes sense with two power strokes per revolution, but is still pretty friggin cool if you ask me!
yea idk why but both 3 rotors and 4 rotors (idk about 1 or 2 rotor) have the same sort of sound profile as a 4 cylinder or 8 cylinder, but with the distinct brapping
3-rotors sounds like inline-sixes, Then 4-rotors sound like a v8 with 8-1 header
IMO it's an absolute insult to both 3 rotors and 4 rotors to compare them to a V8, they sound infinitely better than a dual bank 4 cylinder any day of the week.
@@pillowrex811 the 3 rotors sound more like a 2 stroke inline 3 to my ears tbh, except the 3 rotor braps a lot and has less metallic crackling sounds that a 2 stroke has when accelerating
There's a guy building a 5 rotor with the aim of it sounding like a f1 v10 engine
Didn't think I'd learn Osaka slang today, but great! Nedatte nanbo!
Also, that Godfather horn!
4:55 Now THAT is a JDM Big Block!
If only Rob Dahm and the Insane 4 Rotor were flown out overseas to this event! This would be his Literal Dream!
That dudes a jucier, hes only respected by children.
These videos are made perfectly with the sound the length of clips your voice just makes the best videos for car nerd possible!
You should go back to your roots and get an SA22C, the oddball GTX-Turbo variant with the factory 12A Turbo engine would be cool.
@Rob Dahm please respond.
License plate had 90-97, which are the years the Luce was manufactured ‼️
I'd love to see Alexi in an FB.
SA would be even better 😉
@@beautifulbeaner haha that would be great, I'm sure he or his parents have some old photos put up somewhere
I reckon Alexi has that FC energy
@@sheshd hotboi in disguise lol
Thank you for filming this event. I really enjoyed the content!
I remember seeing that 6 rotor on a tour of their shop. Soooo crazy.
This week on funny internet car man, Alexi goes to look at some dorito spinning engine cars
Awesome stuff bro love the work supporting from Rotorua New Zealand 🤘❤😎
From Tauranga leshgoo 🤟🏽
I used to have a HC 929 (export version of the Mazda Luce.) Sadly just a 3L V6 - no rotary in the export version.
I think right now FC is the way to go for sure ! I wouldn't mind an NA one at all, they sound amazing! Get one while you still can Alexi
My dream car is a Rotary
this is beautiful to see, all these people coming to show off their appreciation of these cars, and seeing how well preserved some of these 20-30+ year old cars are really makes me happy, it always hurts to see one in bad condition but this meet is full of FCs and FDs with flawless paint jobs, original body parts and rims or subtle aftermarket parts. this is such a treat to watch
I wish there were more RX-3s around. I love those. I think you should get an FC.
You cannot beat the sound of a good rotary engine. Either on red-line or idle. I love it.
Brings back memories of my early RX4 coupe and RX2 coupe.
6:07 one of my favourite cars of all time, the HC hardtop. Though we never got the awesome Luce Royal Classic turbo rotary in Australia, just the 929 V6. There was one on my street a few years ago, in pretty average condition. I should have knocked on the door and offered them a grand for it or something because one day it disappeared, and I looked up the plate and it says it's not registered anymore, so something probably broke on it, cost too much to fix, scrapped it. Of course, now people want big money for them so I'll never have one.
Man, I LOVE those Luces.
If you focus only on the combustion chamber and ignore everything else, the engine comparisons become much simpler. Rotaries fire every time the combustion area is swept by the rotor face. Piston engines fire every other time the combustion area is swept by the piston face. This is why rotaries sound like 2 strokes, mix oil like 2 strokes, make no torque like 2 strokes, etc. They are essentially a much more vibrationally balanced 2 stroke engine that doesn't self supercharge like the piston ones, and that's why they are so good with turbos. I tried to design a self supercharging version of a rotary but you would have to have a 1 way pipe connecting the intake to the exhaust and I'm not sure it's possible to pull off. What makes it work on a piston 2 stroke is that there is a continuous path from the intake to the exhaust through the combustion chamber when the piston is down, so the exahust resonant pressure can directly pressurize the combustion chamber above atmospheric pressure via the expansion pipe. Because of the extra edges of the rotor, this continuous connection is broken, and so I'm not sure if a self supercharging expansion pipe rotary would ever work but I would loooove to see one if somebody could make it work.
Good analysis of the differences.
The exhaust can be used to improve intake vacuum to ever so slightly"draw" the intake mixture into the expanded intake chamber on heavily ported (lots of overlap) engines. Myself and a few other improved production RX7 racers here in Australia managed to get small improvements over other rotary competitor's using this sort of exhaust design. Though it's far from the improvements a 2 stroke reciprocating piston engine gets from using expansion chambers.
so cool you went to 7D! wish you could have met Emu and her all stock FD3S type RZ! Simply marvelous to look at!
you dont see the FC that heavily modified because the S5 came stock looking gorgeous
As an rx8 owner i can confirm they are not fast. I do recommend you try one though. Think of it as a cross between a 929 and an rx7.
I always loved the look of the FC RX-7.
Thank you for all of your coverage over the years Alexi! I have been a fan for 5-6 years and will continue to be a fan of yours for your unique content! Love the new ProBox!
I miss my fc rx7 so much. It wasn’t pretty and it wasn’t fast, but I loved that car.
Hey, you have some serious compression/corruption on the left side of 00:13 , in the intro. Hope ur computer is good.
The Sexy Knights FC is my favorite RX7 ever, that is a thing of absolute beauty. I mean they all are but that one especially.
And the owner seems like a cool dude!
That red FC "non-turbo" is turbo, just deleted the top mount IC @12:40
ルーチェのオーナーです。
ありがとうございました!
your car is very clean and elegant i have no idea why your family isn't too happy about it 😆
oh damn, apparently my birthday is RX-7 day
14:59
Reminds me of the Modified Muscle from Burnout 3: Takedown!
3:46 must be one of those jdm only fc's. Never seen one in the states. And if you can find one of the old pettit kits, renesis supercharged sounds orgasmic.
Happy rx7 day y'all (slightly late lmao)
6:09 that's a nice car! kinda digging it's style! it even got features that still are kinda premium today. Actuators for the hood! Look at that!
Rob Dahm has been real quiet since this vid dropped.
That kiwi accent was gold 🤣 🤣
3:04 aayooo FR LEGENDS
3:08 did that non intendet joke get caught by anyone else? Got me cackling
Was really cool to see the Luce. Im from Perth an I used to own one in my early 20s (around 07-09)until it broke down on the freeway one night an ended up getting stolen (ye, one night was all it took). But mine was the Australian variant with a sub-three litre v6 an 929 badging.
As always your content is amazing, you inspired me to do similar content in my country, driving up to cool meets and meeting some amazing people pationate about their cars !
All the surviving rx2 & rx3 are in Puerto Rico
I already Heard 4 Rotors, but SIX?!?!
14:00 that rear end is hideous like fiat multipla hideous!
This makes me want to buy an RX-7 so much. :)
But I probably won't.
4:44 I love that the track speaker (forgot his name) is going around the paddock with the spectators to listen to the cars revving.
You'll never see that in Europe.
Pretty sure the announcer is Mana-P from Option and D1
"When the new Zealanders say, oh yea cuz my brother had one" 😂☠️
luce's period era smell adds +50% to the value
God this whole video is an absolute banger, great knowledge from Alexi and some absolutely stunning machines
YES THANK YOU FOR THE TRIANGLES
アレクシ取材、ありがとうー👍( ´ ▽ ` )
10:51 based and Seinfeld pilled
1.01 is pretty quick at Tsukuba.
3:08 got me nervous there for a second Alexi, 🤣🤣
4:48, I like the shirt on the guy on the left!
I love the smell of premix in the morning
That intro is the new Jessica for me.
Awesome coverage, Alexi! Man, some of those cars are so incredible.
New Zealanders be like. Chur is that a 13b "loose"
The RX8 needs more love (but not too much love please, I'd like to buy another one)
They handle very well out of the box and you can drive it fast without going to jail
I am okay with keeping the RX8 as a hidden gem among the prices of everything else🙉🙈🙊. Pretty much a super good chassis mixed with an okay engine
Great video Alexi! You should definitely get an FC rather than an FD
The fluorescent spokes with yellow barrel is a slick look.
Loved the old school amemiya body kit! 😍 and also the renesis ND looks very cool and that LUCE!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Awesome vlog. Nice to see that engine running better. Really nice you returned to this event. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
I had that exact LUCE!!!! I loved that car, but could actually watch the fuel gage go from full to half tank driving up mountains in Japan.... But it was an absolute love of mine!
so close to 21:37 ..... what a waste
That car meet looked like it was fun
Where is Rob Dahm 😂 he needs to be at this event!
RE Amemiya have never made a bad looking car
My heart always breaks when I see these car shows. Japan's tuner scene is really something else, so unique even the spectator's cars look dope
Not a single douchbag in sight too
FC would be nice
Seeing the smile on the anniversary owner when it starts is golden
OMG, Aquarius Sparkling??? Do want...will have to try when I go to Osaka next year. Love the vids, keep them coming!
Tomoya's english is very impressive ngl
highlight of the rx7 meet : canned aquarius sports drink
Six Rotors?
Damn Japan!
Content was wicked as a rotary fan but I was more impressed with how well you speak Japanese!
When will we get the legendary 7 rotor rx7?
It would be interesting if the RX9 is going to have an Electric & hydrogen powered rotary engine hybrid. The fuel efficiency would be questionable, but very interesting as a concept.
Hydro rotar would be siiiiiick
the renesis is actully the most powerfull 2 rotor. if you consider the fact that it's naturally aspirated. it has more intake ports. and side exit exhaust ports, aswell has the highest compression ratio of all the 13b. which is one of the reasons it doesnt like boost
Get some high quality sound clips of the 6 rotor PLEASEEEE
Every time I open up the door to the FC it's like "ahhh, that period-correct smell" xD
after listening to those guys idling and lightly revving i cant help but wonder what the crowds reaction would have been to dahms 4 rotor up on the 2step
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~but still just drop in a LS or LT and all those mazda's will be fixed!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~;-P but damn those wankle's sound great though!!!
I didn't know that there are modern Watanabe wheels, that is so cool.
El mundo del Motor es maravilloso, y nos quieren obligar , mediante engaños, a conducir electromésticos con ruedas , una pena y una vergüenza....
Rob Dahm would absolutely LOVE this!
A rotary car have to use plenty fuel to stay with the VB cars, go ask the V8 CARS what are their petrol consumption and exhaust noise don't always talk bad of the car that Piston people stop to be making (scared to loose)
Alexi…just get an FC, it’s time. You had the SA already, plus you offended a lot of our community by calling an FD and FC lol 😂 Really dope video, please feature more on that LUCHE 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
If y'all listen real closely you can hear Rob Dahm ascending upon watching this video.
