    I did the calibration according to your procedure, since the battery was not new under 8 v, it turned off in the middle of the calibration, mtester did not want to turn on again. I put a brand new battery, started the procedure and did the calibration to the end.Thanks for the clip.

      Hello Mohamed, welcome.
      As long as you are supplying the device with 9 volts DC it should not make any difference. Thank you for watching.

    Great video thank you! Very useful. How did you know how to do the calibration? I am trying to test N channel (BF245) and JFET (J201 etc.) transistors and need to understand the readout. Can you help please? Best wishes ; )

      Hello and thanks for watching. I did the initial video at the request of one of my subscribers who sent me a translated instruction. What is it that you do not understand regarding the readout?

    Explain to me how to calibrate more and which capacitor you used. Thank you

    • @SurfDetector

      Hello Ahmad,
      I used a 150nF film capacitor. All of the steps are included in my video. The calibration is only for capacitance.

      there is a pdf manual duckduckgo.com/?q=LCR-T4+manual
      LCR-T4 Component Tester
      The LCT-T4 measures components, including resistors, potentiometers, inductors, capacitors, diodes, dual diodes,transistors (including MOS), SCR's, regulators, LED's, and ESR.For testing operationplug the component that you want to test into pins 1, 2 or 3 on either side of the DIL socket,then press the test button.
      Specifications:
      Resistor: ≤2100Ω
      Resolution of Resistance Measurement: 0.1 Ohm
      The Highest Measured Value: 50M ohms
      Provided Testing Current: Approx. 6mA
      Capacitor: 25pF-100000uF
      Inductance: 0.01mH -20H
      Working power: DC-9V (9 Volt)

    Is that normal that i some time to time especially when turned on witch cap installed it shows ESR = 0 Ohm and test need to be repeated few times before it show the result, or mine is damaged ?

    • @SurfDetector
      @SurfDetector  2 года назад

      Are you discharging the capacitor before you test it? You must not test a capacitor if it has a charge.

    This was the only video I'd seen on calibrating this tester. In what way did any calibration, or adjustment, take place? Is there only a calibration test for capacitors?

    • @SurfDetector
      @SurfDetector  3 года назад +1

      The device is being reset to the known value of the capacitor. Obviously the chosen capacitor needs to be one of quality as its value is what the calibration is based on. This process is fairly standard for a test device. The surprising part is that the LCR T4 has the code to do the calibration at all, given the low price.

    I bought one several years ago and used it a bunch and didn’t use it for a few years and the battery was dead. When I put in a new battery it was displaying something like “not connected/bad component“ and won’t read anything. I did the three pin calibration and I was able to reset the unit and use it again.

    hi thanks for the video can you upload a video how to test esr of caps in circuit? there are some Russian video that program this LCR meter to find bad caps

    • @SurfDetector
      @SurfDetector  4 года назад +1

      Hello and welcome to my channel. Thank you for subscribing. I do not own a LCR meter as I have never seen the need for one in what I do. I think that the capacitance range on them is somewhat limited. Here is a good site that describes for you exactly how to use one:

    • @erintyres3609

      The tester displays ESR if the capacitance is more than 2 microfarads. It is unable to measure ESR for small capacitors.

    Hi, I did that on my exact same tester bought a few days ago, and nothing actually happens when I short the three posts together….

  • @ricky07536
    @ricky07536 2 года назад

    Do we always calibrate that tester again and again ? I thought it will only need to calibrate once, then all kinds of components can be tested in just one calibration. By the way, the calibration of each component is different, am I right?

    • @SurfDetector
      @SurfDetector  2 года назад +1

      This is ONLY for capacitors and should only need to be done once unless you suspect incorrect readings

    Working batteries don't get recognized from this device but a dead one shows up as a diode.

      Interesting observation. I did not investigate that as the only purpose of the video was to show the calibration for capacitance. Thanks for the comment.

    Anyone else seeing reverse transistor pin designation? I have placed a 2N2222 in the tester, but when the test is complete, LCRT4 shows reverse E.B.C designation. I was expecting to see 1(C).2(B).3(E), but seeing 1(E).2(B).3(C)!

    • @SurfDetector
      @SurfDetector  2 года назад +1

      The pin configuration for a 2N222a from CDIL is
      1. E
      2. B
      3. C
