I am 51 have been mewing for 2 years now because my upper palate in my mouth had gotten very narrow and I had horrible TMJ and grinding. My palate, I kid you not is three times wider now which gave me back my smile because my teeth had narrowed. With mewing my grinding and TMJ went away. Mewing is the proper tongue placement and it also supports the upper portion of your face to support muscles and structure. There are so many things doctors have said had no scientific evidence. Lies, if it doesn’t make them money they don’t care they want you to come to a specialist.

We're living in a time where women are gaining financial and social equality, even surpassing men in areas like education (at least in the United States). No longer is a man JUST expected to be "functional and useful" (I assume you mean be skilled, working, a provider, etc.). Now that women can finally look past areas like money and power because they have their own and can support themselves independently, looks are naturally meant to be the biggest thing on the chopping block; it indicates your genetic quality. Men are expected to be functional/useful and be beautiful since those ideas of the "provider" never went away (as shown by your comment) while women can focus on a man's looks since they can support themselves. Remember, since women care, society cares, they are the other half of society.
That's just what women think, let alone the "halo" effect good looking people have 24/7. Attractive people are more likely to make more money, succeed in job interviews, be social, be confident, make friends, etc. Why do men have to hold back other men by giving them shitty advice like "be useful bro! be a REAL MAN BRO! BE MASCULINE BRO!!" instead of telling them to improve what really matters in the eyes of society?
