probably because it's a solution many men have been searching for to their problems, especially problems in their dating life. we wouldn't have male self-improvement spaces online if men weren't struggling; the general theme in them is "do x if you want to find a partner". for a man's whole life you're basically told your worth to the other sex is based in personality, and when that doesn't turn out to be true, men think it's money or muscles or confidence, but few will actually just swallow the hard truth that it's your looks, that is until now. it isn't just some trend that dies out after a month because it's something to cling onto for fixing their problems.

I am 51 have been mewing for 2 years now because my upper palate in my mouth had gotten very narrow and I had horrible TMJ and grinding. My palate, I kid you not is three times wider now which gave me back my smile because my teeth had narrowed. With mewing my grinding and TMJ went away. Mewing is the proper tongue placement and it also supports the upper portion of your face to support muscles and structure. There are so many things doctors have said had no scientific evidence. Lies, if it doesn’t make them money they don’t care they want you to come to a specialist.

These are very young men going through extremes to try to reach perfection bc the phone/tv told them to. They go through surgeries, break their bones to be taller, might take meds they don't even need, etc ( as they showed on this video.)
Young men forget that they too can be lied to by "influencers" on social media. They use filters and don't tell you about all the procedures and expensive skincare they're using to maintain their looks. They forget that companies hire people to promote certain things. They forget it's all about money.
No different than young women getting bbl's, implants, Botox and fillers b/c a Kardashian did it. We have a bunch of Kardashian clones now.
It's ridiculous and unfortunately young people are dumb enough to fall for it. While young men here are trying to be a stereotypical girl when it comes to looks, other countries like China are preparing their young men to be warriors. Mewing isn't just about how you hold your tongue. You need to chew tough foods to work your jaw muscles. Back in the day before we ate so many processed foods we naturally did that. With the rise of eating ultra palatable processed foods you started to see weaker looking faces.

@@Reina-yz5wq yeah there’s a dentist (Weston A Price) that published a book called Nutrition and Physical Degeneration in 1939 after he did research around the world about indigenous diets vs the new, more processed diets that people started eating when they adopted “modern” practices. He noticed that the people who still ate the indigenous diets of their ancestors had healthier teeth, better facial structure, and better health overall. When those same people would move to cities and start eating a more processed diet all those things became worse. I believe the doctor that the term mewing is named after studied the work of Price.
