      Swedes would invite you to their party and ask that you “swish” them the cost of your food.

    I think people sometimes feel like others should be just as invested in their wedding day as they are. Asking people to pay for a wedding you can’t afford is diabolical. There are so many ways you can have a beautiful wedding on a reasonable budget. I’d rather ask people to give money as a gift to invest in a home or something that would be useful to my new husband and I. Their priorities are all over the place.

    I’m not judging them, but I wouldn’t pay to attend a wedding. The purpose of having witnesses is for accountability, not just to celebrate. With that said, there are free weddings I don’t go to if I’m not in agreement for the couple to get married.🤷🏽‍♀️

    • @hellobecky84
      @hellobecky84 4 дня назад

      Highly doubtful to me that they had a $100K wedding. St. Patrick's Cathedral charges in the $15k-$20K range to hold a ceremony there on a weekend. So unless they booked a venue for a reception - for only 60 guests- with an astronomical price tag that was not mentioned, I don't see how they got to six figures. Definitely wasn't the party van they rented.

  • @mjhunter502
    @mjhunter502 2 дня назад

    "A 12-hour wedding experience..." I mean, I would never, but I can see how the price tag got so high. It was a whole itinerary that lasted half a day. They did all kinds of activities around the city and received gifts, not just attend a 40-minute church ceremony. I've seen people pay more for concerts, New Year's Eve parties, birthday events, etc., so... *shrug* I wonder how many people bought tickets...

    Perfect example of people living beyond their means and asking folks to chip in too. If you can't afford it, go simple and then grander when you can. Sometimes these unions don't even make it past year two and so you overextend yourself for nothing. It's a no for me. As adults we have to learn to make sound financial decisions and ask close friends and family to help you pay for your wedding isn't one of them.

    This is outrageous!! They clearly have champagne taste with beer money and do not understand that the focus should be on the marriage and not a wedding. Let's keep it real, the odds are they have a 50% chance of staying married and are starting off as ghetto fabulous. Oh, and I am happily married after having a wedding in downtown Chicago on the lake with a 0.00 bill for the beautiful lake as our backdrop and we have plenty of zeroes and commas in our accounts. As a people we have got to be better and want better long term.

    I say go for it. I liked that it wasn't just for food. People pay 600.00 to go to a concert and 1 they don't know the people personally and 2 they listen to their music all the time. If the couple does not ask for gifts its fine.

  • @sherinebonsu8572

    I always say a wedding invitation is just that, an invitation, not a summons to appear. You don't have to go.😒
    I do not disagree with their approach. Gets rid of the rif raf who would only come to disparage their wedding, stuff their face with food, and not give a gift or card to wish them well on your special day.
    We pay strangers for other experiences why not support your loved ones wedding day interactive experience? I'm here for the razzle dazzle! Congrats to this creative couple!❤🎉

    I understand their intention. Every person will have their own opinion. Had they had 350 guests, most of them would've eaten all of your food and drank all of your alcohol and not even purchase a gift. I assume that for the couple, it was all about having the most important people there and so the ones that ACTUALLY PAID--were meant to be in attendance. Small and intimate.

    • @hellobecky84

      This is so weird - who are all of these wedding guests I see commenters mentioning who don't give gifts and come just to gorge on food? I'm Caribbean American surrounded by really big families and this is just such a foreign concept to me - weddings are celebratory occasions for overflowing generosity in both directions.

      You guys did your thing haters will never watch the full wedding series to see what else was provided to guests as well as how beautiful it was. Plus in my opinion 333 is cheap for a wedding gift especially of this magnitude the fine dining experience only could have easily been 400 dollars but keep shining bright styles.
