It hits way differently when you played the game. My ex heard it one day while on the phone with me. Then shrugged it off as "pretty good". Couple of weeks later she played both games back to back while sick at home. Called me at 3 am bawling her eyes out and told me "now i know what you mean about spectacular and elevating the game".
Plague Tale deserved the best OST award. GoW was... fine. I get the feeling the reward was given to GoW purely out of popularity, it didn't do anything interesting unlike you did. PT will always be the winner in my heart.

i was chilled when they announced this music in award..and seeing gow gets the award..whoever wins this award..this music will be forever in hearts of gamers and its depression with it
This is my favorite main theme from any piece of entertainment(game or music). I have never seen anything like it before, yes the vocals are great, and the instruments are too, but the music is much deeper than that because it's a poem of love between 2 siblings. It connects with the player in a very intimate manner because we know these 2 people so well and we understand the feelings they're expressing to each. And the fact that it uses symbolism of the sun and the moon from the game, which lots of players seems to have missed, makes it more beautiful. I have huge appreciation for the composer for being able to write something that can invoke such strong emotions in those who hear it, and its also shows the amount of love that's been put into this theme and every other track of the game.
People go for hype and ignore such masterpiece, some games are just hyped and take awards for best music whom we dont even listen often but music like this plays forever in heart and when you listen the whole game cinematic and gameplay comes in front of us and it drives you in the story of the siblings who fought for something but in the end it all rests with sadness and yet peaceful, I can go on with this music forever, thanks Olivier for this masterpiece. 😍❤❤ LOVE FROM INDIA
I will listen to it for the rest of my life. It is a masterpiece and it accompanied me through this incredible journey. I will never forget this game. I will always have love for Amicia and Hugo, and I won't let it be forgotten.
Focus on what matters to you... because when it's gone... Truly a masterpiece! I know some people prefer The Last of Us but for me A Plague Tale is better! It's a story for some Oscar movie.😭 Thank you for lyrics, Olivier.
This song fits the game incredibly well. It's like a song of Amicia's heart, lonely and wounded and filled with sorrow but still eager for light. And as a classical and choir music enthusiast, I can't imagine other kind of music to sound in APT. I can feel it was inspired by classical choral music, and it's amazing. It wraps the story so good and fills you with that strange, out of this world feeling, like you're touching something really special and sacred. I don't know if it makes sense lol. What I'm trying to say is that you created really great, touching music, that keeps the rich tradition of classical music from the past and the present.

Every time I listen to A Plague Tale Requiem my eyes would be watered for a long time even I finished playing it 5 months ago. A legendary song to a legendary journey this game took us all on. Both will stay in my memory and heart, and with blind optimism and hope, I will wait for the next chapter of this amazing experience. Amicia and Hugo, they fought and they held, always. Never forgotten.
There was such a case when I was playing the game. It’s already 5-6 o’clock in the morning, I decide to take a break in the passage. And when I go to the main menu, this music inspires me to continue playing. And if it weren’t for dawn already outside, I would really do it. @@mish3l456 Completely unexpected for me. I thought Hugo, Amica, and Lucas would reach a remote land where they are at peace, living and growing up. Unfortunately there were no happy endings here. I didn't cry, I rarely do, but once I figured out we had to kill Hugo, I was like "Awww nooooooo". Amicia crying putting a rock in her sling and charging up slower than normal was deep, or her screaming "I CAN'T!" on the Lucas ending if you didn't kill Hugo in time, you could feel her pain.
Some games like TLOU 2 and this very one, make me cry a lot… but damn, this song alone makes me cry instantly, it’s such a masterpiece… also, it brings me memories of both the rollercoaster of feelings I had playing it, and also reminds me of a close family member, a cousin, nearly a brother, whose history kiiinda matches this one… he died of an incurable disease over a year ago, and he did felt like a burden to those around, despite not being at all. I remember I beat this game not long after he passed, one or two weeks later if I’m not wrong, and the ending, it completely tore me apart because of that. If not the one best game (TLOU2 and RDR2 are competing for it) it’s easily one of the best games I’ve played in my whole life, has meaning to me and I’ll never get tired of replaying it from time to time.

fr. Hugo was single-handedly killing millions but Amicia refused to kill him like wtf. like i could see why she would hesitate as he’s her little brother but come on dude, 1 life or millions? pretty easy choice for me
@@someguy2272is an easy choice as long as it's not the life of someone you hold dearest in the world. Plus, during the game for most part, Amicia could clearly experience that in general everyone around them was fending for themselves not giving 2nd glimpse for others. Why shouldn't she do the same for herself and her little brother? Finally: she did what had to be done. That's all that counts.
Just finished Requiem here.. Absolutely devastated. While I can't vouch for games to intentionally wreck my emotion (such as tlou or cyberpunk), I can say that the Plague Tale whole story is well told.
This game is special to me in ways I cannot put in a few words. The story, the music, the design, the charaters... People can actually relate to certain small bits... It's a fascinating game. The music and lyrics are phenomenal, and even that is an understatement. This game deserved the GOTY award more than any other game. It deserves all the awards and recognition. As for the music, sir Oliver, you did wonderful. It truly is a remarkable piece. Sending all my love and respect.
Thank you so much for this! I don't speak French so I didn't understand the lyrics... now that I know it, it adds another layer of beauty to everything... As much as I enjoyed Elden ring I loved A Plague tale requiem much more... for me personally this IS the game of the year and an experience I will never forget!
Dear Olivier Deriviere, as a simple man from Türkiye, a country not closely connected to European history, your music made me feel like a part of Medieval Europe. I don't know how to explain it, but whenever I booted up the game and heard this tune, I felt like I was being teleported to the middle ages. I bought the game from Vienna on one of my trips about 2 months ago and finished it last night. I must also note that I bought the first game from Montreux... Both countries and cities preserving that Medieval European feel. It's just... Your music made me feel like part of European history. And coming from the citizen of a country that was once striving to be part of the West but is now more Middle Eastern, sadly, this means a lot. Thank you, thank you, thank you for an amazing soundtrack!
After completing this game I still revisit and listen to the Music! Absolutely beautiful soundtrack to pair with an amazing and emotional journey. My GOTY for 2022. I really hope we get another game.
You already know what i think of this games music :D Its rare that you get music in games, that not just conveyes the idea of the situation, but also sounds raw, intense and unfiltered.
All I can say is wow and thank you for such a moving and triumphant soundtrack. It made me recall Voices of Light by Richard Einhorn composed for La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc. Amicia, like Joan of Arc both embody courage, conviction and strength. This music reflects that. Hauntingly beautiful.

Got my friend's series X to start the game tomorrow after 3 hard months of medical internship, stumbled upon this right now and it immediately reminded me of the times I used to write poems in French and how beautiful and heart touching that language can be, it's weird how we seize to see the beauty of things we grow up with.

*Simply beautiful!*
Listened to it a few times now and it's impossible to focus on anything else while doing it. It's just too emotional and moving. Lyrics, choir, music... just excellence.
BEST music of The year for me too, congratulations you must be proud of your work, simply amazing.
You can't have played this game and forget it as you never did. This game just leaves a mark deep in your feelings. I keep coming back to this
I played through the game for the first time a few days ago and then - as much as it broke my heart - immediately replayed it because I didn't want to let it go. I just finished a few minutes ago. Olivier, your music was such a big part of making this a special, touching experience. this theme music especially pierces the heart after knowing the whole story and reflecting on it. full respect to you and the entire ensemble for such beautiful music. as well as the studio and every person who had a part in crafting the game. games like these must live on forever.
Kudos to you for having the strength to , I could and would have never ... I can't let my heart be broken again as it was one of my highlight devastations in my gaming life .. as amicia said " I ... can't!! " as she fell to her knees 😢😢
This is make me cry, this was so good sound, idk but i can cry everytime hear this song and this bring me back to Hugo :(
I continue to be amazed at this! (And continue to watch the symphony over and over again 😂)
Lyrics :
O ma belle lune
Ton étreinte et ton bel amour
Te rend comme moi, forte et belle
Au lever du jour...
O soleil
Par dessus les êtres
Flamboyant et beau
Par-delà les mots
Je te dirai tout de ma peine
La joie et mon cœur
Tu fais tout mon bonheur
O soleil
O merveille
O lumière
Tu est pareil à ton père
La joie et mon cœur
Tu est tout mon bonheur
O soleil
O merveille
O lumière
Tu est pareil à ton père
I wonder what the “your like ur father” line means and who its referring to, i know it sounds obvious but its in teo songs
I love this track so much, but 1:48-2:12 is my favorite part. It gave me always chills. Olivier Deriviere, you did an amazing job, creating this great soundtrack. You are the winner for us ♥
I love this part too ! The male chorus is insanely good too during this part
It tingles all over my body when I hear that part. It's happening while I'm typing this.
Met raten toh
I like the 0:44 more cuz of the previous game, but that part is amazing though
Same
"A hero would sacrafice you to save the world but a villian would sacrafice the hole world to save you"

fr. Hugo was single-handedly killing millions but Amicia refused to kill him like wtf. like i could see why she would hesitate as he’s her little brother but come on dude, 1 life or millions? pretty easy choice for me
I'd be the villain.
@@someguy2272 would you be able to kill someone you love like that? at the very least struggle to do so?
Innocence and Requiem are gems in the gaming industry and i am really glad that Requiem got a lot of attention through critics and the game awards
Just played both of them back to back and wow amazing especially that second game that ending killed me.
Just finished Requiem here.. Absolutely devastated.
While I can't vouch for games to intentionally wreck my emotion (such as tlou or cyberpunk), I can say that the Plague Tale whole story is well told.
The meaning of this song changes so many times...
Early: Finding the cure
Middle: Struggle finding the cure
END:YEA......
GREAT SONG
Le jeu de l'année 2022. Pour sa narration et sa bande originale. Merci ! 😭❤️🇲🇫
@Olivier Deriviere , you didn't won the "best music of the year" but for me Requiem & Up There is the best. Thank you for making this!
This breaks me even more now that I know the lyrics, I just get flashes in my mind about all the parts of the games story while watching this😢
Thank you so much for this! I don't speak French so I didn't understand the lyrics... now that I know it, it adds another layer of beauty to everything...
I was very disappointed by the game awards.. but I guess competing against games like God of war and Elden ring is extremely tough.. (almost unfair..)
As much as I enjoyed Elden ring I loved A Plague tale requiem much more... for me personally this IS the game of the year and an experience I will never forget!
Again thanks for the English lyrics you definitely deserved the best music of the year
Thank you fellow human for this masterpiece! ❤️
all my fellow humans🗣🗣🗣
I come here every often just to listen to this master piece.
Thanks a lot Sir! for making such Type of Strongmusics...My Favourite 1)Ô ma belle lune
2)A knight
3)The Holy Child
You And Your Crew Deserved So Many Awards
You And Your Crew And Every Member Who Made This Beautiful Game
Is The GOAT IN OUR HEARTS
It still affect so much... You are the best music composer I have saw till now 👍
im crying
This song conveys the hopelessness and hopefulness of her struggle more than any dialogue ever could
After completing this game I still revisit and listen to the Music! Absolutely beautiful soundtrack to pair with an amazing and emotional journey. My GOTY for 2022. I really hope we get another game.
This song is absolutely amazing!!
APTR Was perfect and it's deserved GOTY and the grammy music
You already know what i think of this games music :D Its rare that you get music in games, that not just conveyes the idea of the situation, but also sounds raw, intense and unfiltered.
*M A S T E R P I E C E ❤😭😭*
Much more beautiful when I cannot understand the lyrics imho, so angelic
All I can say is wow and thank you for such a moving and triumphant soundtrack. It made me recall Voices of Light by Richard Einhorn composed for La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc.
Amicia, like Joan of Arc both embody courage, conviction and strength.
This music reflects that. Hauntingly beautiful.
God I fucking love everything about these games they're absolute masterpieces
this music just chill down my spine. amazing.
This game is a real masterpiece. Soundtracks in this game is truly amazing. So Emotional. Changed my life.
I love this music so much. So Touchy 😎❤
Thank you so much Olivier Deriviere for being part of this masterpiece game and making best soundtracks.
From the cult classic horror Obscure to the emotional masterpiece A Plague Tale, your amazing music is endless.😁
Got my friend's series X to start the game tomorrow after 3 hard months of medical internship, stumbled upon this right now and it immediately reminded me of the times I used to write poems in French and how beautiful and heart touching that language can be, it's weird how we seize to see the beauty of things we grow up with.
