Zurich guys always top notch!!
Haha how did you get the swiss sentences right 😆

You got the Swiss German subtitles perfect, awesome!! I don't know how you got this organized, but I really appreciate it. Your international fans are your crew, so great CRM ;-)
I never understand swiss german as a swiss from the french part, your language is like russian
@@GreatReplacement It was so weird when I heard German-Swiss speak French in class. I'd had French class in Germany, and the Swiss were much better at vocabulary, but the pronounciation!!! Exactly opposite, always the other syllables. " SAlut, je m'APPelle REto et je viens de la Suisse ALLEmande." I thought I had walked into the wrong language class, maybe Russian...?
@@maireweber 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I thought you were a swiss german first of all and I still think swiss german sounds more like russian than swiss germans speaking french, but I can imagine the earrape it can cause 😂

Everyone sounds so friendly and professional. I wish flying around the US was that nice! I'm always nervous I'm going to get a cranky departure controller after takeoff.
Europeans are usually pretty polite to your face but they will call the police on you in an instant
@@behindthen0thing525 lol, Europeans differ per country.
From flying for 23 years, I can say from my time in the US it is just as nice, if not nicer in regards to other pilots/ATC in comparison to other countries.
Damn gotta admire how clear and slow they're speaking when compared say for example American Controllers
JFK. We are looking at you.
American controllers are speaking their first language to someone who's first language is English. Fast works.
Only in english, in schwiizerdütsch they talk just as fast as american ATC.
@Falcon i don't disagree
@@gpslightlock1422 because everyones first language in the US is English right 👨🦯
funny how pilots listening on the radio ALWAYS ask for a time estimate, even though they have to know the answer is always gonna be "as long as it takes"
If you listen i think he actually says Where was that birdstrike, doesn't ask for expected time
Later in the video you hear that he is asking due to fuel getting close to the minimum. So it's a legitimate interest. Also he informs ATC that he might need back to the gate to refuel. Nothing wrong there
@@r.b.4009 isn’t he taking off? How would he be at minimum
@@BloatedJam Minimum takeoff fuel. Planes have to carry enough fule to reach the destination plus a certain amount extra for weather, delays or diversions. The pilot would have been indicating that much longer idling on the ground would lower his fuel to the point he doesn't have enough to complete the trip safely
Punctuality is of great importance in Swiss culture. There's a reason our watches are as famous as they are :)
Unfortunately, the birds' injuries were untweetable.
If a delicate mountain flower can munch up a bird like that, I'm thinking Switzerland might be as dangerous as Australia!
This is one of the best replies I've ever seen, being a big fan of The Sound of Music; Made me laugh hard. 🤣
Switzerland's only dangerous if you try to invade the place.
I was there when it happened, even have some pictures of the Edelweiss A320 with Fire Brigade. The sound was very scary. Great to see how well ATC handled it
Good lordy, the efficiency of these lads put most of the American ATC and Pilots I've seen to shame. No delay, repeats, and not even the slightest sense of urgency in any of their voices.
There’s your issue, generalizing American ATC/pilots from a few clips you see online.
thats because of the good weed here in switzerland... Just kidding XD
So polite, clear and percise.
percise haha
So funny to hear swiss german in between the english... greetings from Switzerland
Great standard ICAO RT procedures ! Top notch ATC and aircrew 👍
It´s a little bit funny for a German Native Speaker like me because Swiss German Speaker and Swiss German Speaker are talking here to each other in "Swiss English". But therefore all other participants are able to understand what´s going on.
English, German, Swiss German and a little bit of French. Love it!
@@iain8837 there’s no French word in Swiss German, or just very few. Like there’s no French in Swiss Italian. They were no French words in this recording 👍

Hello VASAviation. Can you do a video of the medical helicopter that crashed outside of Philadelphia a few days ago?
Edelweiss Talk about the man in the high castle
Nice animation
Happy ending. Except for the bird.
Oh dear you think you’re about to depart on your holidays and a passing bird has other ideas 😞
Suicidal birds...
Those little terrorists!
Switzerdeutsch is an ICAO language now.
Kinda funny that someone transcribed the whole "des schaffama" part but the ""grüzi wohl" for Swiss 8T (1:11) was left out 😀
hehehe
You know this isn't an American airport not for the accent but how friendly they are
Many write that it’s not polite in US. How can that be? I find it completely natural
@@adrian-f-m Agreed, my experience flying around many countries including most in the U.S., pilots and ATC are friendly and just as nice and get the job done like everywhere else. People say things like that because most of the videos on here are American, so you’re more likely to hear a bad controller/pilot.
Do you have one on the second EK 777 incident?
The taxiing plane that appeared on the left side of the screen surprised me as it absolutely dwarfed everything else. Anyone know the type?
Probably a 777-300 ER
It is actually a plane taking off from the crossing runway. He cleared that plane for takeoff at 3:35.
But according to the callsign it is a flight to chicago, which is indeed served by a 777ER
Edit: Maybe it is also shown larger since it has already lifted from the groumd and thus is "closer to the camera". You can see the shadow below it.
Anybody know why there is a letter at the end of the flight numbers?
Due to the amount of flights, it can be hard to distinguish between different flight numbers, say you have EDW599 and EDW699, adding a letter, or sometimes even two, make it more clear.
Might have something to do with the flights being seasonal? I think it depends on the airline
Lufthansa for example uses no letters for long haul intercontinental flights but adds letters to the callsign for their shorter flights. Just makes it easier and you dont need callsigns with 4 numbers. Also helps with avoiding confusion on frequency.
@@jazzi_0453 alphanumeric callsigns are common in Europe. I don’t think they’re ever used in the US though
It's interesting to see that they were on RWY 10... I have flown from Zurich many times but that never happened. Is there a particular reason (apart from the wind which doesn't seem to play a role too much) that they use this runway instead of 28 or 16?
10 is only used for departures in case of tailwind component on rwy28 more than 10 knots, it is an extremely inefficient configuration for zürich because the departures cross the arrivals on rwy14 twice when flying westbound, so departures and arrivals have to be coordinated extremely well for it to have at least usable capacity
I am definitely Pro-TOGA
The dreaded rogue amateur drone weighs .75 pounds
the average seagull weighs 3 pounds. Size matters.
🦆
Your average European seagull is about the same weight as a drone. They build 'em bigger in the Western Hemisphere.
@@Ea-Nasir_Copper_Co The size matters but I think also
numbers matter & there are lots more birds
on airports than drones. I experienced hitting

but the wizz’s video?😅
What’s the last thing that goes through a Sea gull’s mind when hits the windscreen of an aircraft.
His ass!
I guess it's the tail, because that is covering his ass.
First on the runway! 😀
Its rather worrying that the other aircraft SWR79W told control if (because of their fuel situation) if they can't take off in the next 15 minutes they will have to return to the gate! Surely they should be carrying more fuel just in case of emergencies at their arrival airport.
That's exactly the problem, if they wait too long they will go under the minimum fuel for take off which consists of enough fuel for their flight + a wide margin for emergencies. You can't take off if you don't have that margin any more
Has been a long time, but minimum fuel is flight to the destination taking the weather into account, perform the standard approach followed by the missed approach procedure, then fly to the alternate airport hold at the alternate airport for 30minutes at 1500feet and perform the landing there plus a contingency percentage.
So more than enough fuel to perform a flight safely, but sometimes it's close so that they need to refuel, to ensure the regulations are followed and the passengers are safe on board
Sure they would have enough to reach their destination, if they don't need to do a diversion and need the spare fuel. But not if they already have used the spare fuel before takeoff. It's like going on a long trip, and the spare wheel is already flat.
Bange vogel die piloot
Birds aren't real.
That’s U.S airways
which? why do you think it is?
It blows my mind that someone as intelligent as an airline pilot has the gall to ask ATC "how long is this going to take?" That's like asking a paramedic how long the interstate will be shut down because of a 12 car pileup.
Uh, dude, it's gonna take as long as it's gonna take...
It is for planing ahead. They have a maximum waiting time of 15 min, so rather than standing there burning fuel, they might as well return to the gate or be assigned a new runway. Their job is to get the plane from point A to B and the ATC is to keep efficient traffic flow and minimize delay.
@@se-kmg355 I understand it's for planning ahead, but wouldn't the pilots guess be as accurate as ATC's?
I mean, can the pilot not assess the same situation and figure it out themselves?
I'm not trying to be argumentative, just trying to use common sense, which the pilot(s) should also be doing.
@@yakbreeder well maybe the controller had already more information and can give an indication. Also the pilot can take necessary actions (arrange refuelling, ask for another runway to take off, etc.) It would be different if there would have been a crash. There I agree. But even then, the other pilots still need to know what they should do and be on top of their game for their passengers.
@@r.b.4009 I've been a passenger on 4 airplanes (1 helo) in my life. Common sense dictates this situation would take 10-20 minutes to clear? Could take 5, could take 30? It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if you need to be off the ground in 15 minutes or less because of fuel, you MIGHT want to head back and top off. You're gonna have to wait regardless, so why risk running out because you were too arrogant to go back and refuel? Many people have died at the hands of arrogant pilots.
@@yakbreeder No, the ATC has a much larger image of what is going on and what is needed to be done and are communication with people behind the scene. All the pilots know is that something has happened, for all they know the airport could get shut down.
