I had one in the mid 80s 650 short rod engine 60 over routt750 big bore but mine had borani rims.that bike would do140 on the Syracuse mile and police verified on the road!oops, was stolen in2003 and haven't seen it since, still have the Ciriani fork ,spool front wheel with a Dunlop k100 tire but that's it. I'm still pissed but who knows, maybe I'll find my bike and reunite it with my registration. Sure does stir my blood to see this video, Sure do appreciate you sharing it with us!!

Something about original bikes of the era that always look better than new bikes that attempt to pass as an homage to vintage bikes.

I think the word you were searching for is quirkiness. My dad still ride his store bought XT500 after he restored it 2 years ago. I asked him why did he love this bike so much? It's weird because he had 5 new dirtbikes that he used to bust trails with. He said that nothing beats the feeling of sitting on top of rock solid suspensions and when the breaks hardly working (because it has a drum brakes). I thought he was joking, but he was so serious I can't hold my laugh.

Interesting that the Americans had copied the Rickman frame. Yet another rip off just like the X15 and the De Havilland prototype.

Rip off? I'd say it was more of a compliment to Rickman
