- I had that horrible Jeep Gladiator check engine come on a few weeks ago. This is the update and a couple of reasons it may have happened. Have you had this light come on in your Gladiator?

27k all stock. jeep was taken on a trail, driver side front wheel hit a soft spot and sank about 20 inches. Truck was pulled and driven back home. Following morning truck was started to move it. Flashing CEL. Put scanner to it and had codes for camshaft position and multiple misfires. Inspected it for possible water intrution and found nothing. Towed it to dealer since its fairly new. After 2 months of waiting I was told engine is hydrolocked even though I was able to drive truck and they are able to turnover. Makes me think the dealer knows the camshafts are issues but refuse or avoid warrenties since they are not paid for them. Next step is corporate , but what a disaster.
Wow! Sounds like a nightmare in the making 😡
No "check engine light" issue here (knock on wood). Have had since Dec. I have not done any mods to her under the hood...just added a performance exhaust.
Got over 15000 on mine, with a couple of long trips over 500 miles each and no trouble.
I don't think theirs a band of vehicle that doesn't occasionally have the CEL come on for a misfire, you need to really worry if the CEL starts to flash. Just my opinion.
I’ve had many new vehicles and only a couple have had a light come on. I don’t believe it’s very common.
Just got mine back. 02 sensor was acting up causing multiple miss fires. I haven’t modded my engine in any way. Mileage is just under 21,780.
I have the same issue right now in my 2020 Rubicon. They said there was oil from valve cover gasket that got on the O2 sensor. Hopefully I get it back tomorrow. Did you have any other issues after? Thank you
Trust me the dealership will blame the after market parts for the problem.
Possibly 🤔
My Gladiator just threw a P0010 code, camshaft position actuator circuit /open (bank 1). I always put in premium gas from Chevron. When I first start it and pull out of my driveway, it kind of lurches forward (or stutters) when I first drive off. It's going into the dealer on Monday. Only 4700 miles on the odometer. I'll post more when I get some answers.
That’s a bummer! Please keep us updated 🤔
@@robmotiveplus I forgot to say, that I also get the stop/start warning light (@!) on the dash, but only after I hit the stop/start disengage button. It too is intermittent after 3-5 starts. It usually comes on after driving less than 1 mile.
That’s gotta be the auxiliary battery😐
@@robmotiveplus I spoke
to the service tech yesterday. They said there is a short in a wiring harness. Apparently this wiring harness is on back order. I probably won’t hear anything until tomorrow. I have an over Landing trip planned out beginning Sunday through Thursday to the north rim of the Grand Canyon. I hope they can track down a harness and get the Gladiator back by Friday, or else I’m going to miss the trip.
This happened on mine; I reset and it came up again. Took it to the dealer without clearing the code.
I was thinking maybe a spark plug, coil pack … nope it is a bad intake cam so they are replacing the intake camshaft.
Wow! 😬
Hi, first I like what you are doing with the channel. Good stuff. Second. I also have a Gladiator and it has the auto stop eliminator installed. I love it. But I also had the check engine light come on right around the time you posted it. What I know in my case, I had filled up the jeep that morning with Mobil regular unleaded (the only gas I use on it). The light came on after a few hours. I checked the gas cap and it looked okay and secure. I don’t have one of those code readers, do I was planning to take it in to the dealer three days from that date. I actually had to do a long trip (230 miles). I had to fill up and I decide it to fill it with premium unleaded gas. I did and about 40 miles down the toad I noticed the check engine light was off. It has not gone back. My guess it was bad gas or lower grade gas. I hope that helps with you situation. If you find out what caused your, please let me know. Thank you. Noel from south Florida
Interesting! Mine hasn’t come back on since the reset👍
Just happened to me my truck is a month old with 1200 miles and I’m about to take it into the dealer the check engine light did start to blink but stoped so we will see what happens thank you for your posting
Good luck! Hope they resolve it for you👍
No mods to my 8/20 built gladiator and I have P0300 code at 584 miles. Like you, I cleared the code to see if it comes back and not really wanting to leave a vehicle I have had for two weeks at the dealer. Seems they don't know what causes it yet anyway. We shall see if it comes back, keep us posted on yours.
Sounds familiar! If yours is like mine...you’ll see it within the next couple of weeks😡
Just had my light show up at 2215 miles on a new 2022. Only mod is an AFE cai with over 1k miles on it without a hiccup. Debating on if I should purchase an OBD2 reader and clearer. What brand would you recommend? She goes into the shop on Saturday just to be safe.
That’s a bummer! I don’t actually have a reader! I just borrow one when (if) I need it👍
my truck is having the issue bad after only 400 miles.
That’s a drag!!!! Did you get the update?
@@robmotiveplus not yet, my original dealer wanted me to wait two weeks, so i went to another close by dealer so they set up an appointment for tomorrow. i will update after.
Hope it helps🤔
@@robmotiveplus spark plug #1 failed after 1 month according to the dealer. I am looking to replace all plugs if another fails.
Background streaming RM play lists! It’s a thing! Let’er go all night
Lol! Now that I like👍👍
Welcome to fiat/Chrysler/jeep quality.
with all this RFID now days, it might just need updating, but if the issue has went away then your probably good to go, get it out there on the road & show off that awesome ride,,!
The CAI might have caused it, if the computer hasn't had enough time to adjust to the change in airflow. Should be fine now that it's reset.
It's been good since the reset👍
Did you disconnect your negative battery cable before you installed your S&B Cold Air Intake? That may have been the issue!
No, it was not related.
@@robmotiveplus what caused the check engine light?
Apparently the software. There is an update. I got the update and problem solved👍
@@robmotiveplus cool deal! Glad that was all that it was
My Gladiator, I got it on June 5, it has 1300 miles and had the Check engine light like 4 times. I took it to the dealer on Monday June 29 and left it there, still there. Waiting for final resolution. I noticed that every time out the 4 time the engine light came one first the truck gave a warning about the AutoStart system, it said Autostart system failed to start and then check engine. Code P0300 "Multi Cylinder Misfire. The service guy let me know that he have seen in previous cases that a faulty or not completely healthy supplementary battery needed to be replaced and issue was solved. He will call me today with findings.
Please keep us posted on this. I'm really curious to see if it's a battery issue. Thanks
if the Gladiator cannot stand for quality for at least 5 years of ownership, then the gladiator sales will be in trouble, 4 days in the shop is unacceptable for a owner on a new Jeep, double check your dealership & service dept, we have seen some shady operations out there, especially when it comes to warranty work,,, hope they fix it right the first time for you!
Interesting...I’ve experienced the same🤔
Finally got dealer response. 10 mins ago. After the dealer made couple simple tests the contacted Jeep and they requested to run some more tests that I don’t have the results right now. After the results Jeep recommended to replace the left engine block cover and a couple lifters... 🤦🏽♂️😱 so they said that the engine right now is half opened and the parts are already on the way. The Gladiator that I haven’t even give any payments yet has already the engine open for repairs. Unbelievable!!! I asked how is that even possible with a unit just 1330 miles, apparently is a factory issue. Really hope not to get any engine lights after this for at least 8 years.
@@ct6929 so far, no more problems. Near a year running.
Call 1800 lemon law if you have brought your car to a dealer more than 3 times for the same issue .The lawyer can get 20% back due to loss of value on the car. Not an add or click bait it actually worked for me . No payment to the lawyer either they go after corporate.
Yup…available to all👍
Mines Fac have same issue and chugging at start up what grade gas you running I’m running 87
87 here👍
it happened to me today the engine light was flashing for about 30 sec went away i dropped the gladiator at the dealer its a 2022 few months old truck
Bummer! Curious to hear what they find🤔
@@robmotiveplus they keep it for 3 days i got it back today was told it just a sensor so far so good
Good news👍
Did the light come back on?
Can’t say…I traded it for another👍
I had this issue my Jeep has been at the dealership 3 times now! First the stop start light comes on then after a few miles the check engine light comes on... The code read the first time cylinder 3 misfire the second was multiple misfires and the 3rd was cylinder 3 misfire once again... I am waiting for the dealer to call back so I can drop it off the 4th time. So far they replace the coil spark pugs and a fuel injector.
Bummer!! Hope they get it sorted out for you😬
So after 5 times at the dealership they said antifreeze leaked into my engine oil and they need to replace the engine which was causing the Mis fires
It's not the video your wife wants to me, lol. I think it's the start/stop eliminator interrupting the signal that's causing the issue
Huh?
@@robmotiveplus Having the Gladiator get stuck due to the check engine light coming on again in the middle of a trip is not the video your wife wants to make.
Remember do not drive the Jeep further then walking distance from your house and if you do make sure you have cell service and a 3 day bug out bag. Or just play it safe and take the Tacoma.
Nah😐
While driving the Jeep hundreds of miles from home remember Murphy's Law............🤦♂️
For sure!
Was it specifically a multi cylinder misfire code? My 2 month old 2022 has been in the shop 3 times for it (4 times total). The first time they updated the computer. A week later it came back again. This time they replaced the engine (at 2500 miles), then it went off again last Friday at 4300 miles. It's currently in the shop right now and I'm again driving a loaner.
Wow! That’s crazy😬
Take the Taco on that trip!
Wife doesn’t drive manual.
Just take some electrical tape with you and if the check engine light comes on cover it up ( no more problem ). lol
I wish it were that simple!!😬
