First class review of a first class bike, ER. At one time I was considering changing my VFR800X for a Transalp but, as you know, I'm now heading down the classic route so I'll be selling the VFR.
Great review with some excellent on the bike footage. Riding a kitted out Tansalp over Dartmoor in the sunshine isn't a bad way to spend the day! A lovely machine and a very tempting proposition. The pillion test was particularly useful. Cheers.
Hi Steve, A great honest review.👍 I have ridden the XL750A Transalp and I really liked it a lot. 😊 So much so, I'm gonna be trading in my 2018 CRF1000L Africa Twin for one very soon...I managed to get a great deal with both the packs fitted, plus the quickshifter, top box/panniers, centre stand, heated grips, higher screen, spot lights, radiator protector, and 12v adaptor socket. All for £11499.00 and they gave me £6500.00 for my AT. 👌
I rode the original Transalp back in the day. Wasn’t much to look at. However, I really like the look of the new Transalp, especially in that colour. Sounds great too.
It is really nice, it also has a sporty element to it aswell. Off road I found it surprising good even if the engine is quite "racey " for it... The Trans just munched anything that came along 👍
Great review. I’m getting one this weekend. 😀 I will fit the electronic cruise control from Veridian Cruise and when the OEM tires wear out, I’ll convert the rims to tubeless. Not sure which method to use for that yet. But I’m very excited to get the bike.
I like the new Transalp & I did own the 2005 650 Transalp of which I loved apart from the seat for all day comfort, I found it the only niggle with the bike! If the new one had DCT & Cruise Control then I would have to rob a bank to get one in my garage asap, but then I suppose Honda think that they wouldn’t sell many £20.000 CRF1100L’s because it wouldn’t be needed (over kill.) What a shame we can’t have a middle weight bike with all the toys 😢 I recon they would sell millions of em, a bit like the C90 in its day but hay ho we get what they give. Keep up the good work E.R 👍🏻 Ride Safe Ride NC DCT Dave & Butty Bach 🙂
Thanks Dave, i think if I lost my NC ,then this would be near the top of the list...I do wonder if they will make this into a DCT...I think they have room and as you say the Africa twin is superb but its a little OTT for most of us....from what I hear they have sold very well already . Thanks for your time watching: )
Very happy with mine, it’s the best bike I’ve ridden/owned for a good while tbh, it genuinely feels like an all rounder and the riding position is just so……’.right ‘
Give me a bike for all seasons that is easy to live with and enjoyable to ride. Transalp truly is the Swiss army knife of motorcycles. I know because I had the original 1988, 600 and a 2009, 700. Both totally dependable, reliable and a joy to own. The new one will prove to be the same with a little more fire in its belly. Mine arrives end of this month. Yipee! Can't wait. Yours truly excited. Kind Regards Exeter Rider. Great Review. Thank you.
It’s not the best looking bike in the world, I don’t like the square view from the riders seat, but you wouldn’t buy this bike for its looks, you’d buy it for the ride and practicality. Like you said, it’s an Honda, it’ll probably go live longer than us 💪 I tell you what it’s got a mighty roar hasn’t it 💪 The quick shifter is a great addition, not even necessary on a bike like this but I love that Honda included it. Are you saying your mate wasn’t doing motorway speeds 😉😂 Again grab handles, simple, but something that is not being added to bikes these days so another great addition for me. I love all the locations mate, quality editing and camerawork. I tell you what, it’s just an honest motorcycle isn’t it, enough power, decent suspension, capable of just about anything 💪 Great video mate, hope you and the family are well
It's a nice bike mate. it would suit a tally too like yourself. That chap on the other bike was someone I just met at the lights would you believe! We got caught up in a road closure for 30 minutes and ironiclly he was on his way to see his sister who lived round the corner from me so we rode home together. Funny who you can meet along the way!
I thought you were chasing down the ‘Firebrand Brewery’ van 🤔 Did you catch him? Then I thought, there’s a Royal Mail workers license at risk 🤣 And then I thought… he’s found the service cover I introduced my ‘biking history’ vid from 😮 And finally I thought…this is about the Transalp, and what a lush bike it be 😍
I never caught up with him, he was too fast for me! I did wonder about the RM driver on the edit but they could never trace the driver anyway/hopfully! It is an awesome bike SB, you would enjoy it for sure. Thanks bud.
Thanks . No, I think I turned off the self cancel when I was playing around with the dash. I did find the Harleys were always self cancelling half way around a roundabout which was annoying!
Seems like a good tourer/gravel road bike. A bit too heavy (for me and my kind of riding i think) Not to say that someone younger and fitter couldn't make it work on the lanes. It'll be interesting to see if it can break the T7's stranglehold on the market for that class of bike. It ought to, it's got similar weight and a bit more power. Good review! 👍
Thanks Ken, I think they both have different attributes TBh...the Transalp is definately more of a touring machine I'd say myself. Both decent in there own way. Thanks for watching.
I've not ridden one but you mentioned no drawbacks you could think of, the only one for me is the tubed wheels and that's just down to past experience. Also the price hike over the hornet seems steep, £6,999 vs £9,499 but I guess it's down to what the market will bear.
In the end I mentioned the screen was too low and mention the tubed tyres. You can't beat tubeless for sure-should anything blowout but the screen was the bigger one for me. . £1500 is a lot more than the Hornet, but I do think you are getting a lot more bike in my opinion, that does more and is far better for touring in comfort. Tubeless would have been nice for sure mate yes.
