Being a retired navy officer, the Sea is a second nature for me. Sailing as a family has been my dream. For the last six years I have been trying to convince my wife to quit our jobs and take our three kids on a once in a lifetime voyage through the Mediterranean, the French canals, and to the Pacific. Six months ago, she said yes, and we are currently buying our boat to start in Greece in a couple of months.
I might have to thank you both, but specially to you, Maya, for helping me inspiring her. That is the power of what you do.
    Thank you.

At 28 feet, your possessions no longer own you. My dad years ago said "You can't make a living playing video games," but now you can. Anyone who says "You can't make a living as a sailor" similarly doesn't know what they're talking about. The violin lamp fixture is a brilliant re-purpose of a broken item.

A great story, and a wonderful life. Thank you for sharing it. 21 years ago my wife and I were in our late 20's and sailed away from the West Coast of Canada on a 27' foot boat called Yehudi. Yehudi (the invisible friend) also had a soul... and was 'home' in more ways than just a place to sleep. We, like you, missed our families and friends, (and still do) but also knew we had to travel the path less taken and find our way.. You have articulated this so well. Your video has brought up so many memories it brought tears. We found our way to New Zealand and have been 'anchored' here ever since. We were perhaps 'richer' then without money, but money or no money, no one can prepare for what blindsides you on a Thursday morning in an emergency department. So don't listen to any naysayers, and don't change a thing. We spent 8 years living on our beautiful little boat, and put thousands and thousands of miles under her keel. Sometimes it feels like it was just a dream, but she carried us to new places and ways of being.
What ever may come for you, I hope good health embraces you, and that you continue to adventure far and wide. Although we didn't have video or digital cameras back in 99, I still hold onto the beautiful sunsets and welcoming rises.... and of course Dolphins.
I look forward to more stories from magic carpet
    Fair winds.

Remember those sailboats when I was a kid in Sweden. All Vindö boats were extremely well built, had stunning wood works, were often sailed by crusing people, and therefore "undersailed", which gave them a bad reputation as sailors........ It's really nice to see you sail actively, with modern sails in good condition, and the restore their reputations as sailors.....
And yes, back then i the seventies, the were really expensive......
    The were really exceptional boats.....

Narrative at its best, thank you for sharing your thoughts. Boats *do* have a soul ... and you two have the warmth and authenticity to recognise and respond, as multitasking sailors have to do! Sail on, I love your channel and am glad to be among your earliest supporters (albeit a tiny sum, it’s wholehearted). Roy

You two are wonderful antidotes to the luxury yacht brigade who know the price of everything but the value of little. Above all your vlogs are intelligent, aware and cultured. For that reason I value your videos more than almost others about sailing. I wish I had your combined skills to maintain the boat. I wish you well.

Perfect little video, I like it better than most vlog entries because it has a little story to tell instead of just telling what's going on.
I am a sailor myself now nd it's a great life, I miss nothing from landlife. Always was a social outsider, so I never had much friends, nd I don't have family to miss. I am perfectly fine sailing from place to place, superficially meet people and then carry on.

As farmers we havent been able to leave this place...as sailors we dream to one day like you leave the land that has grounded usfor so long. We recently started a sailing channel inspired by you and Aledino. YOu honestly are the best channel out there. Your feelings of wondering how to be happy go deep down for me too. I love to watch your stories and as a previous professional dancer LOVE to hear instruments being played on a boat! ONe day I hope to be a patreon but right now cannot afford it. Be safe and fair winds and much love to you, Aledino and Magic Carpet. Just beautiful!

Some videos feel longer than they are because they're boring, but this one put me in a trance and I felt like I was living in this life for hours in bliss. Great video, and I'll have a space of credit for you in my mind when I buy my own boat and live like this myself. I've been lost for so long but ever since I discovered sailing and found out this could be a way of living, I've had a lot of hope and joy building in my heart. Thanks
