Nice 😁 just got back from Florida and seen a little bit of the Epic Universe being built 👌 This would give our county another staple on the map in the long run, as well as some more jobs to people in the areas surrounding it. I'm all for it, as I hate those 16 hour traveling times to florida and back 😂
Basically Universal started negotiations with the government two weeks ago over state support for infrastructure and they are encountering beaurcracy of the accelerated national planning consent as the mechanism has has never been used for a private project before (its usually just used to override Nimby local opposition to infrastructure). While the project is moving forward its still early days so don't expect a big announcement in the next few weeks like had been rumoured.
So many failed projects like this over the years. This one actually feels like it could happen which would be awesome for the UK (and save me ££ having to fly abroad for proper world class theme park experiences)
Would you think it would attract tourists into Bedford Town, the river & local 😢attractions & if so would the Town itself be enhanced & traffic routes into it improved.
I remember when Universal were planning to build on Rainham Marshes in Essex, back in the 1990's, this failed so really hope the project happens this time 🙏
rainham marshes would have been out of reach for most of the country hence they appear to be hedging Bedford as its within reach of most of the population including the north
@@adamtrue7691 Basically where Bedford is located it's virtually on the map near bang centre of the population. So yes, it's extremely well located for most ppl to travel to within reason. It also has the benefit of two train lines either side of the park once it's built, the M1 down the road, and the A road dual carriageway. It seems that Universal now are fully committed seeing they're doing draft planning applications for authorities. Hopefully by at least by December we'll hear a firm announcement if it's fully going ahead.
'Don't tell anyone what we've just talked about so we don't jeopardise the hard work over the last 2 years' Well that's the end of that then.🤷🏼😂😂 Clearly this meeting wasn't public so how did it arrive on here? Up until he said that everything was very positive. The negotiations on the infrastructure finance side is a big milestone so once that's settled on, the main planning application will be submitted. Which I'm sure they have all had a look at anyway. This is going to happen.😊
The meeting was public and archived on the Bedford Borough website, like most formal meetings in their council chambers. All information released to the public domain would have been OK'd by Universal beforehand (if required), and a good deal of it (like the DCMS / MHCLG opposite roles in the SDO process) was probably out there anyway. The non-disclosable particulars are within the draft SDO Universal compiled and distributed to NDA signatories.
@@craigross2949 Pensioners can still enjoy theme parks, and probably did so when they were younger. Being older doesn't suddenly mean you hate everything fun 😂
Well Judging by how much it costs to get into Harry Potter World I wouldn't get that excited as most locals probably will not be sble to afford the experience
Even if the public did gave all this the green light, this still proves the corruption our countries are in when making these done deal meetings without the permission from the public behind closed curtains.
🟢 Green Light, I feel it. Make this happen Comcast.
Good to they are onboard with the idea!! Living in the UK you get used to ideas like this getting shut down, hope they see it through!
I hope so too!

Seems everyone is on board on this side of the pond…hopefully Universal will go ahead
So hoping it’s all still sounding positive, so it’s still a possibility for this to come to fruition?
Got a bit lost in all the technical stuff but it seems positive!

Oh I see, well I wasn't expecting any kind of announcement till like late 2025 but all seems well.
Looking very positive 😄
Very!
Hurry up already! Or as they said in Monty Python and the Holy Grail *"GET ON WITH IT!"*
Government paperwork takes a long time, especially with a new government.
Its looking good. Its gonna happen. Bedford needs this for future projects. The revenue generated from it would be EPIC.

Wait until they see the flooding here, that'll make them think twice.
Please please let’s get it built.
UK needs this to be competitive to Disney land Paris
It’ll also likely stop Merlin from doing the bare minimum with their parks
Yeah Merlin need to step their game up! @@tedioustotoro4885

For sure it will attract lots of tourisim and I'd hope traffic routes will be improved.
Do you think we will get Disney since we’re getting this? I highly doubt Disney would miss out on a chance at more money.
Nah

We need representation from the theme park enthusiasts community all these councils seem have pensioners

looks like it going to go ahead the goverment need this to get back the money
😮😮😮
Got to love the UK government and the red tape 😂
I hope Universal don’t take people breaking their NDAs too seriously then 😬
Imagine if they pull out and cite me as the reason. 🙈

They are not a done deal, they get the framework together in private then it goes to consultation.
