I am literally old enough to be your grandpa, and I gotta say, this setup rocks. What stood out in my RUclips search was a thumb nail that wasn’t “antiseptic white.” You’re in about 5% there. Your tech choices are are spot on. Your cable mgt - better than you think. Lava lamp, and really all the aesthetic choices you’ve made - nice. Really nice. Now hit the books!
For anybody interested in the amp splitter. If you just want to easily switch output devices look for a program called AudioSwitcher and use the hotkeys combined with a macro on your keyboard.
I like the set up. Personally, I wouldn't have that much tech as I am a minimalist. All the tech and cables are just so overwhelming to me, but the set up looks dope though.
I watch your video from Russia and there are few bloggers who specify their technique in such detail, I really liked it, it is very useful, thank you very much !!!
Have you received your order from Ikea ?. I heard couple of horrible reviews on youtube and on the web warning everyone not to order anything from them online.
Got this karlby desk a few years ago still looks brand new, its heavy as heck tho, i got a 34” curved lg monitor too its a must have for this desk. Get the ikea Markus chair, its the best chair for the money
Got Question? Ok I have a Allienware 34" gsync coming in two weeks, so this countertop will work, what inch 1/2 or 1/8? Also can i still use the base or get vesta mount? Bulding the table for my future Pc.Phanteks Enthoo 719 For my case
i must say ,this setup is the best i have seen in a while,...especially with your choice of lighting...so many components but all fit together so nicely
Superb Setup ! The 16" MBP and the LG 34WK... is also on my Wishlist. Your Cabelmanagement is also sweet you just need a little cover plate or something thats it in my opinion ;)
I really like this. A lot of 'ultra-minimalist' setups look nice but have no utility to them. Your setup looks clean and also allows you to effectively and efficiently use everything you need.
I'm just worried about how that MBP handles the 5k monitor. There's gotta be some bad frame dropping happening. Great desk though! I'm def gonna use these idea's for my next desk. You should look into building a hackintosh. It's probably cheaper than you think if you look in the right places
I have young kids. They always fiddle with my stuff, so it’s hard to have an advanced workspace. I have two offices in the first and second floor sunrooms. But the kids have easy access to those spaces. I think I might go all the way up to my attic and setup something real nice.
Hi Ben! I saw that the depth of the Oddvald Legs (27 1/2 ") is larger than the depth of the Karlby Table Top (25 5/8 "). It is not a problem? Have you cut/adapt the legs? Nice desktop set-up!
I have not cut or adapted anything. The legs just hang over at each side by about an inch. As you can see you barely even notice it and it doesn’t impact the overall look.
I was wondering the same thing. I saw another vid where the person stated that the desk did start sagging 6 months after he set it up, The used a third leg in the back somewhere towards the middle. That did help greatly but you could still see a slight sag in the front. When I get delivery of this countertop myself ill secure a bar (underneath) in the rear and another towards the front to keep the sagging to a minimum. Great question. :-)
@benboxer for your fpv vid about beagle drone kit, does it have a good range and can I get stunning footage? i would really appreciate another video on it!
You are going to love when you figure out that pure sinewave batteries are a huge upgrade to your electrical problem. Best brand for a UPS is APC. Get 2 highend ones and youll have 16 surge protected and battery backed up outlets :3
Damn, if you add all the things up, including the cables, cameras, storage devices, speakers, and all the other equipment, etc... it's like a $10,000 - $12,000 set up
Very clean and smart setup! I'm wondering how the 16'' inch MacBook Pro performs with the dual display (the internal and external) in terms of heat and noise.
It does run quite warm most of the time and under decent loads I can get the fans to spin up. I don’t really mind it though as it’s usually only when I’m editing, which is also when I tend to wear headphones anyway.
Ben , very impressive set up and equipment. I notice a number of guitars hanging there. Would like to see a music video showing how some of your equipment works with your guitar playing. God bless in all you do!! Best wishes to you from Kenner Louisiana!!
I think the VESA stand looks amazing but looking at the specs of the mount it looks like it only supports up to 27", I need a mount for a 49" COMPATIBILITY - Single monitor mount is designed for most 13”to 27”flat and curved computer screens weighting up to 19.8 lbs, compliant with VESA standards 75 x 75mm and 100 x 100mm.
I’m using a 34” monitor with a light bar and some other accessories mounted to it and I can confidently pull on the screen without feeling like it will go anywhere. While it may not be rated for a 49” monitor, if you mount everything down tight I’m confident it can hold no problem.

Great desk. Now go and practice the guitar. That is what they are for, not to hang on the wall :)

I recently just bought one but im scared it might curve in. WIll it not do that? Or did you add something to keep it from curving?
How did you attach the table top to the frame? I kind of don’t want to make screw holes on the precious table top.
One of the cleanest setups I've seen so far. Thanks bro!

Thanks for showing your setup it gave me a lot of inspiration
