    Charlie set the tone for the way the groove was going to go in the music 🎶 🎵 that they played. Charlie is the master of cool. He's phenomenal in everything he does 🎉🎉. Charlie your perfection and personality will truly be missed 🎉🎉

    I know that "the Mick Taylor years" were great but, there is simply no denying, Ron Wood's style/look/personality FITS better within the Stones.

    That's Right Point Fingers @ Ronnie Wood !!! Woody sounded good playing the rhythm lines on his guitar, he plays bass and pedal steel on the studio version of Shattered on Some Girls and Keith plays the rhythm & lead solo. Live on stage R. Wood plays the lead break I always wanted to hear the Stones arrange a live cut where Keith would play that same shrieking dirty solo break on a live cut of Shattered that you'd hear on the studio cut. Cool Rehearsal Video ..

      Grooves of 40 years past are different than grooves of today, but yeah, I've always liked the Some Girls rendition of Shattered better than their live rendition. Still I love seeing how they work in a rehearsal.

    • @Morcaiden
      @Morcaiden 7 лет назад +8

      Yeah, nothing can replace the studio version. Usually "Shattered" is played too fast for my liking ('81 tour, for example). Scorcese's documentary probably has the best live version.

    Of course it's typically Stones in the first place, but I just now realize how much this seems to be influenced by Lou Reed / The VU, the way Jagger is speak-singing it here. The sort of lyrics would suit a Reed song as well.

    • @Methilde
      @Methilde 3 года назад +2

      Jagger was already having his style before Lou Reed. Love the both singers.

    Ronnie clearly plays IN the band. Taylor, unfortunately but with some notable exceptions, played OVER the band. That's Ronnie's advantage and you can hear it even in rehearsals.

      Brian Jones was a multi talented gifted musician, but he was depicted as a real prick by his own band mates, by 1968 he was to consumed by his Substance abuse he got in too deep and was more in love with dope than music and the people befriended him. He became delusional and a shell of himself by my observation he lost his will to live. I had friends that were bright witty (A) students in high schools who became vegetables from doing heroin LSD an pills and some of them are long dead and the ones who are still around are the equivalent to a blank sheet of paper !If Jones had lived and stayed with the Stones the band would have broken up a long time ago. Hence, Mick Taylor, and Ron Wood.The engine that runs The Rolling Stones are The Glimmer Twins,and Bran was a founding member and a bench mark in the Stones creative era during the 1960's. Mick Taylor 1969 -1974, Ron Wood gave the band new life after Taylor quit and if it wasn't for Woody they'd wouldn't have made it as far as they have.......

      @Philip And that is it in a nutshell. Plenty of superb musicians out there who are vital to the development of music, and the production of good songs, yet can not write. Writing is it's very own animal. Brian just wasn't a writer. If he had been able to just hang on, recognition would have come his way. The competition for the limelight is a bitch in every band. (It didn't help that Keith took Anita from him.) the drugs they did back then were rough, and there was no patience for rehab. Jagger himself has said that they probably acted way too fast, and that in different times they would have waited. But here's another factor: by all accounts Brian was an asshole.
