Mavic Air 2 flying indoors.. Using Active Track inside a house!

- Can you fly the Mavic Air 2 inside a house? Can you use DJI's Active Track indoors? Well sure you can - but wether or not you SHOULD is a different story.. My name is Nicholas Johnson and this is the space warehouse.
So the Mavic Air 2 has little sensors on the back, front and bottom of it to avoid obstacles and assist with automatic landings. But another thing those sensors are good for is so that the drone can keep track of motion when it doesn’t have a GPS signal. Like when its indoors..
If you’ve ever tried to fly an older drone indoors, you know its problematic to say the least - and can become chaotic or destructive REALLY fast.
But the internet says you can fly THIS drone inside no problem. So.. Here we go. This is the Mavic Air 2, flown with no GPS, inside a cinderblock garage with relatively low ceilings. Say goodbye to the movie magic of this space looking tidy and neat, it was all a lie.

This is really awesome. I just got one the other day and my daughter suggested I try to use the drone to record me playing VR beat saber. Looks hopeful.

So cool! Can you set a path for it to follow indoors? Say if you wanted it to move from the left of the room to the right and back in perpetuity. I'm looking for something that can focus on me as the subject whilst I'm playing an instrument and therefore unable to pilot.
It does have a path setting mode; I haven’t tried that indoors! Let me get back to you in a day:):)

Would you consider the Air 2s a good entry level drone for real estate droneography, or would an FPV drone like the Avata be better? I'm torn between drones because I want one drone that can do it all without breaking the bank.

You know all that reminded to me a scene from Terminator 3 - flying robot inside tunnel that was not able to posit itself. From google (Terminator 3: Aerial Hunter Killer Drone). It is like the future is now. Just amazing.

Beware that when battery level drops to low it disables all of the sensors that keep it stable and safe so its better to land before that.
Oh for sure - Ive been pretty afraid of flying any drone on super low batteries just at all.. I kind of consider 15-20% to be zero. These new ones fly for so long on a full charge I dont ever find myself wanting more.

You have answered my question! Lol 😂 I just got the air2s after pm I couldn’t help it but fly inside the living room with half battery charged. Didn’t realise the battery level dropped below 10% when it crashed to the wall. I didn’t know it disables the sensor when it is on batter low. I wish it just lands or gives you a warning before it disables the sensor

When I am flying mavic air 2 in a room with no gps it starts beeping against obstacles and two red layers appear on the mobile screen Although it is not present in captured photo and videos

that is the warning of object proximity. There is no reason that the obstacle aviodance should not work and what yoiu describe is the warnings that obstacle avoidance gives. It's possible to turn that off in settings - but beware...

At first I didn’t, but yeah, it didn’t want to go anywhere indoors with obstacle avoidance on.

interesting, i can shoot my youtube videos indoors with a drone and propeller guards with active track and put the remote down, only problem is that noise. you would have to reduce it in editing. were those the quiet propellers they sell?
I just have the default propellers.. With a good enough directional mic it’s not CRAZY loud, but yeah it’s still pretty noisy.
@@SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE i suppose you could lower the noise after production, but i talk while filming so would need the silent propellers and a directional mic probably.
No propellers are that quiet. :)
I flew my Karma in the house and ended up in the emergency room with sever lacerations on my hand. My wife was not too happy. Being 2 weeks before our weeding!
I am actually looking for a drone to shoot some short footage of me inside my garage. Are you able to use waypoints so it can fly back and forth while focusing on you throughout its flight?
Indoors, unfortunately it cant use waypoints because it uses the cameras rather than GPS to navigate around
Nice demonstration but no thanks! Drones are for the outdoors with a bit of sky! LOL! Still have and love my Air 2.

Yes and yes.
Can you fit an iPhone on the remote if the iPhone has a popsocket?
Yeah, you should be able to. There are two thin bars that come up off the controller to hold your phone but you can slide your phone to either side of it and dodge the bars with your popsocket..

I have a DJI Air 2S and I am wondering if I could fly my drone inside a house and do a 360 panoramic shot? That would be great for Real Estate. Does anyone know if this works?
