    Saw this incredible homemade stove on Facebook Marketplace the other day. It was real big and the builder did one Hell of a job. I figured I'd better jump on it as it would be a good unit for my soon-to-be-built 50X60 pole shop. It had been posted only three hours earlier. Apparently the current owner didn't know its value, for she had it for sale at 75.00!
    So I call her only to learn that it had just sold!
    Going to keep my eye out for another, but if nothing shows up before the shop is up next fall, I'll build one like you did. Well done.

      If you want to cheap out a little more, you could check out the scrap yard… I found some really nice large 1/2 inch thick wall tubing, like 2 feet diameter! Wii on old be a good starting point😏

    With this BIG, HEAVY DUTY , TANK-LIKE fire stove the cold air don’t dare to stick around and get close to it! It runs away and waits till you run out of wood! Nice job. Well done👏👏👏👌👌👌

    That was a great idea on the damper on the top. I really enjoyed seeing the way you made that. Now I know how to make mine. Definitely the damper on the top is a big deal and the spark block on the front vents I like that. Definitely going to give it a try before winter. My old wood stove probably won't take it another winter. Thanks a lot

    Great video Tyler! Really enjoyed it. I'm planning on building a stove similar to yours except 36" to 42" long x 24 to 30" wide. I also plan on useing 1/4" plate on top, and installing a 4" pipe to bring air into the stove from outside. I also prefer to run the stove exhaust out through a wall. I would rather put a hole in the wall than up through the roof. You got 50k views! You deserve 50k likes!

      Thanks for the comment brother! I didn't expect that many views either! I'm very thankful for such a nice stove in the shop, no insulation in the walls that winter, 30x40 shop, 14 feet high ceiling, and heater up easily! I want build a heat exchanger on top of the stove from the exhaust pipe with a old furnace blower. Another winter project!

    Great project! How has the stove performed over the last year? I have a similar home built stove (4 feet x 18 x 18). The only difference is I put the whole firebox inside an old fuel tank to form an air jacket around the whole thing. I've found that I need to push a lot of air through the tank to get the heat efficiently out. I'm using mine to heat a 50 x 30 shop.

      I want to build a heat exchanger on the stove exhaust pipe… future project! But awesome for heating up my 30x40 shop, I just shoulda built it bigger… I guess it’s never big enough, eh!

    • @FatherOfTheParty
      @FatherOfTheParty Год назад

      Tyler, too right concerning the size. Also, I wish I had put a baffle in the firebox like you have as I'm losing a lot of heat up the exhaust pipe as well.

    • @T-Down-Approved

      @@FatherOfTheParty That is kinda a easy fix... weld angle iron on each side and slide in a peice of sheel metal!🤔 like 1/4 inch thick sheet!

    Nice build.
    Something I did to capture more heat off my stove pipe was make a square out of it off first upright put A T then pipe off boath ends of the T then elbows then straight then elbows and another T to finish the box my shop was a 25x35 20 ft walls open truss uninsulated Temps got to about -10 out side and up about 10 degrees. Inside overall about 20ft from the stove the temp was average 50deg.

      Super awesome… I wanta make a box on the exhaust pipe with a bunch of tubes in it… with a fan… I know alota heat runs up that pipe!

    Did the fire shelf work good? I always seen them with an angle and not flat. I was gonna make one but sandwich the fire brick between 2 thinner pieces of steel. Or fill it with sand.

    • @T-Down-Approved
      @T-Down-Approved  Год назад +1

      Not quite sure what ya mean about the fire shelf… but I think you mean the fire brick all around the edge and on the floor of the stove! It sure keeps my shop warm though and it produces lots of heat but I want to build a fire heat exchanger on the chimney pipe!

    I gave you a thumbs up 2 years ago when this video came out. Can you tell me if there is anything that you would change now that you’ve had time to use it?
    One topic that I’m thinking of is a secondary burn chamber sort of thinking how new stoves are made today.
    I just picked up a heavy sheet of steel and I want to get this built before it rusts or summer because I’ve got other things to do.

    • @T-Down-Approved
      @T-Down-Approved  Год назад +1

      I can’t think of any change I’d really do to it… I use a shovel to fill it with my branch loggers… but I’m gonna build a heat exchanger on top of the stove to get more heat outta the exhaust pipe. But I love the stove… maybe shoulda built it 5 feet long.
      Send me the link when you post your video, I wanta see that🤙👍

    what thickness of steel did you use and what welding did you do? I ask because I want to make a stove like this. I am just leaning how to MIG weld mild steel with no tanks, just a .035 wire. So I want to make sure that my welds hold, considering the heat that this stove might generate.

    • @T-Down-Approved
      @T-Down-Approved  Год назад +3

      3/16 sheet... 6011 welding rod, stick welder. I used 5/8 sheet for the door. My stove puts out lots of heat, a little too much sometimes, But I'm not complaining! it gets -30C here sometimes and no problem to heat my 30 X 40 shop... with no insulation in the wall last year😅
