THE ULTIMATE WOOD STOVE SYSTEM

  • This is one bada$$ stove system. It's super thick steel and weighs hundreds of pounds. It's strong enough to survive the apocalypse and will last decades. It's a handmade system that was welded together by a master welder on the East Coast of Canada. Now it lives in the far north of the country and it's being used in far-flung tiny tent that sits in the vast, freezing wilderness.
Tonight I am setting up the full stove system with the addition of an oven.
I brought the oven all the way across Canada with me in a bag smothered in duct tape. And now it's ready for heart homemade meals.

You are very lucky to have a great guy who is very talented in fabrication to build such a great oven. I am sure it will also help in heating the tent. Just make sure to clean the creosote out of it every once in a while. A friend of mine had a heat exchanger kinda similar to your oven but instead of one pipe inside there were multiply ones and he had it plugged almost solid with creosote once. Then it is a fire hazard. Love the video. Was hoping to see more of Labrador. It is such a unique place. Thanks

God vid, sure it is fun being back. The oven is like the radiators used around the world in the cold climates such as yours. Use a lot more of the heat just going up the pipe. Now you can put the potatoes on before you build the fire. Have them ready. Oiled and wrapped in aluminum foil. Opens up a whole new cooking world for you. Stuffed peppers things like that. Livin' like a king. Take care be safe. Glad you turned it around. That's the way I thought it should be when I first saw it. Can't lay with fire in the middle of nowhere.

The oven adds quite a lot of surface area to radiate more of the heat that would usually go up and out of the chimney. You may find that you need to burn less wood or burn the fire even slower now and still get the same results. Awesome addition to an already great stove!

I added a very similar oven to my woodstove built nice and heavy like yours and found that not only did I enjoy the oven but I found that my wall tent warmed up much faster and my stove drafted much hotter and I actually needed to keep the stove dampened down to control heat.I added an eco fan off the oven as well so all in all a great addition. Not sure if it was extending the pipe or the heat transfer from the oven itself but it worked out great! I hope you see same results. Great video and keep em coming!

That oven addition is a type of heat recovery system that's able to provide additional heat into your tent. It seems that extra heat was going out your chimney in the past before the oven was added. It's a win-win situation having an instant oven plus having additional heat radiated into your tent.

Can't wait to see what sort of ingenious uses you find for it. Was thinking you could heat a pot of water in there while you eat, then you'll be able to mix it with a bit of snow to get less-hot water for dish washing after you're done eating. I'm sure you'll think of other things too.
I'd say you can be darn proud of your tent design. It's lasted a long time in some harsh conditions and looks like it will last for a lot longer. A home away from home.

I love the oven! It's nice it has a grate for the food to sit on so it doesn't burn the bottom of your food. I was thinking of suggesting turning it to the side too, then you don't have to reach over the hot stove. Awesome to see you back a the tent! P.S. I love the drone footage!

Hey Jay! Always a pick me up to see your latest video. The oven is a great addition. Turning it 90° to the stove surface was an excellent choice. I was thinking about that just before you did it. 😅 Great minds think alike!😅 Thank for sharing your awesome experiences with us!
