yes, but a lot of parents also just expect to hand the child over to the system and the child comes back educated - it doesnt work like that. The closer the parents are to the school, the better the outcome for the child.

If you want to break the chain as a young adult with no family and children, Jon's observation is good advice to follow. I think it is only responsible to design your own life and value things for freedom now, and then show the way to your future children.
Wish there were farm schools for homeschooled kids where everyone learns to grow food in their climate and meet other kids and socialize while learning real skills
Prashant Trivedi the avatar said that the only relationship is a guru and disciple relationship. A guru is actually the one who are able to break out of the cycle of birth and death and be able to teach that. Parents in a way act as a guru, to gear the natural curiosity of their children. The "garnesh" principle is the nature curiosity of a child who ask the question of " Who am I , where am I and why am I here?". The gurukul is the system in ancient vedic that guru teach their young students how to center the speech and body.
I tried raising my children this way. They are all creative, successful, wonderful people now, but most of them resent not having a more normal childhood. 🤷♀️
My children went to a community school which was run by us parents who employed teachers. There were no grades no tests, just groups of abilities. If the child didnt want to do the lesson they could leave and do something that was constructive, like cooking or art or whatever they wanted to do. When they got to highschool, every teacher told me how wonderful they were and how amazing they were. Why? Because they never had to be told, they never mucked up in fact they couldnt understand why kids mucked up and when they spoke to the teacher it was on an equal level with eye contact. HOWEVER, my kids were highly critical of bad teachers, they didnt like rules that made no sense and wouldnt follow them. Fair enough I think. My daughter had one teacher who was probably 15 years past retirement age so my daughter would wag her class and go to the office and do work there. Now they are both adults, both happy in life, both working at jobs they enjoy, and extremely grateful they had an amazing childhood. Interestingly, both are fighting for their freedoms now with our govt introducing vaccine mandates my daughter especially is ropable about being forced into getting a trial vaccine and refuses and attends every rally, is vocal everywhere and good on her. But yes I think thats a direct result of her having freedom of thought and freedom of movement in her early years. Cheers Jon. I miss Thailand so much and because I wont get the vac I probably wont be able to get back to Thailand any time soon which is heartbreaking as I used to go every year for the last 30 years.
Yes this is true. Once you have felt it, you want to protect it. No stuff can buy it. Can you tell something more about this homeschool network. How it looks like. If you have English resources, please share them.
A S Neill created Summer Hill school in the UK based on the kind of freedom you talk about, although the kids live with each other away from their parents. I guess if you've got free minded parents and community as you have Jon it works even better....the mainstream education system is the programming mechanism for life in the corporate state....life of the automaton...
seriously though, with internet, homeschooling is even more practical. In the USA, every household pays taxes, that goes to county and state for schools and other costs. I wish cities where I live allow homeschooling.

Not all parents can home school their children as they themselves may not be equipped with the necessary teaching skills like foreign language, maths, bio, science etc. granted what I agree with him is the unnecessarily huge home work load imposed onto young children which does not necessarily build smarter children. Yet they are being judged by the hour of memory testing and determine their future as a result. It’s a flaw in the system. Not the teacher, kids or parents
Yes. Homeschooling is being capitalized by the capitalist, making it only a privilege to themselves - making it impossible to the people who need it (activists, parents such as Jon, etc.)
Thank you. I disagree with you on a bunch of points. First children grow better with other children. I know when i was a kid how that felt and how every time I wanted to go outside and play with others. So if you have neighbors that have kids that works but if not sending it to a place with kids - aka kinder-garden - is better then keep them at home. Also you can have your kids bullied and stuff on the street. That will happen less in a kinder-garden. Kinder-garden is not some prison if properly managed. Is fun and it can have far more potential to play then what you can crop up at home. Most people live in apartments, in cities, and the place to play is the street, which is filled with bigger kids which most likely are into drugs, gangs, guns etc. If you don't influence your kid, the street will. Somebody will - just not you. This is not much of a problem in a village - where you have big open spaces where kids can play and be creative and have none of this crap influence of the getto. I agree that kids from a super early age need to learn responsibility and be left on their own as much as possible. But that means no tv - because on tv others influence your kids - no video games, no phones.. kids need to do things which makes them love what they play, get dopamine form that activity and not from video games and other specially designed to hit you stuff. If you remove this 3 things, tv, video games and phones - most kids in the city / apartment have nothing to do. That's why you see what you see. So the problem is essentially living in the city, where the imagination of the kid is confined by the designers of the video games, tv programs, etc - and not by actual reality as it should. Now later they can do whatever they want, at around age 12-13 they should be left alone, but if you let your kid video game at 4-5 years old - he will have no interest in playing outside and will prefer the virtual stuff - that over time means getting fat, bad tempered (since video games are mostly instant gratification), lack of patience, no love, no creativity, entitled etc. Because such kid does not own his body - he owns the character he plays, does not own reality - he owns some space in virtual reality. Reality will be too hard for them later, since did not invested in reality all this time. So this advice is solid, just pay attention how times changed in the last 10 years and how it will change even more in the coming years with virtual reality and holograms and stuff.
I love your channel, and I think freedom is very important, but i disagree with your assessment of public schooling and childcare. I went to public school from k-college and have worked in many school with kids k-college age. Yes, there were rules in these places.. Some even quite authoritarian which I don't approve of. However, in my experiences these places are a great sanctuary for young people especially those whose parents are poor and work multiple jobs. They are safe spaces that provide friendship and guidance to the large group of young people who, before public school, would otherwise be used as an extra labor resource in the households of the poor. Here, most people who have the luxury of homeschooling are in the managerial class or above. As a babysitter and teacher, my rules were about safety: no hitting other people (being kind to each other), having to stay within the boundaries of the playground, taking turns, etc. These are all important things kids need to learn that maybe hamper their freedom a little, but make sure we send them home and eventually out in the world without getting badly hurt or worse. But when it came to what the kids wanted to do, i often let the kids vote on the activities, have individual projects, open question and answer sessions in science to find out what they wanted to know, etc. Individuality is important, but it is also a gift to participate in a community and learning with others. As a student I find many of the teachers I had as people who gave me great gifts in their classes and as a teacher I often felt like my students have taught me a lot more. Yes, kids should be learning things with their parents too and have these kinds of experiences at home. But a lot of the richness in my own life has come from the people I met in these state institutions. (I agree that schools should be less authoritarian in general, especially those with uniforms should really get rid of them).
I agree with the spirit of this but let’s take a minute here to be fair towards things like morality, ethics, discipline, and personal responsibility. Those are boundaries that are put in place by parents or other authority figures at a young age, so that when children are older they will APPRECIATE freedom that has been earned. In this world you cannot just bestow freedom on people who haven’t endured hardships and trials, because there is ALWAYS an opportunist waiting to take advantage of their naivety. The opportunist knows how naive they are and his cunning, clever words will be like vigorous seeds on the fertile soil of their trust. In a perfect world yes, we could release them and there would be no fear of predation, but the world isn’t perfect and evil people are ALWAYS trying to manipulate those who seek a simple, happy existence. Pursue your simplicity but prepare them for the enemy that is always stalking, always waiting.
That's literally what parents and capitalists do. By forcing kids to abide by strict sets of rules, they lose their sense of self and autonomy, becoming nothing more than desperate docile workers, just what capitalism needs. No one appreciates being controlled, and the only reason why they would is due to intense socialital gaslighting, manipulation, and (emotional) blackmail. Toys, TV, etc., as well as other "privileges" are another means to control them. This is no way to raise a capable and independent person, unless you _want_ a desperate docile worker.
@@ButWhyMe... - Your conceptualization is naively utopian and glazes over the fact that every human social system, to one degree or another enables predation. Thousands of years of refinement led to the western model of a rising tide that lifts all ships. The Achilles heel of capitalism is that the base instincts of envy and jealousy of the less astute/intelligent are easily co-opted by intelligent socialist opportunists. Suddenly things are right back where you were because you didn’t have the foresight or intuitions to to know you were being manipulated into being a pawn on someone else’s chess board.

So this advice is solid, just pay attention how times changed in the last 10 years and how it will change even more in the coming years with virtual reality and holograms and stuff.
living in the city is for robot, not for.human. he just talk about in the village :))

It depends on the country.... In Asia schools tend to be more authoritarian .
