I saw Chuck Berry in the mid 80’s, He was probably 60ish, in a little club of about 300 people. He brought the house down. People were on the tables, chairs, dancing their ass’s off. Pure R&R beginning to end. One of the best shows I’ve ever attended, and I’ve seen quite a few.

This song is often considered the epitome of rock 'n' roll, just as Chuck Berry is considered the Father of rock 'n' roll! It used to be that certain promoters would sign several "oldies" acts for an "oldies" tour; at the end of each performance all acts would return on stage for a mass curtain call, and almost always the song they played was "Johnny B. Goode" (usually each act singing a verse or playing an instrumental break).

Legendary song, singer -songwriter and performer. Chuck Berry was one of the pioneers of rock and roll, influencing and inspiring some of the greatest artists that came after him. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and even Elvis were some of them. Johnny B Goode was used in the famous movie called Back To The Future. Glad you checked this one out. Unfortunately I couldn't find any link to Buy Me a Coffee, otherwise I would have been happy to do so.

@@RamonMagette sure. Don’t get me started on Charles Brown’s “Merry Christmas, Baby” or any of the Jimmy Reed tunes Elvis butchered. Chuck Berry may not have invented rock’n roll, but he was hanging with Ike and they were playing on each other’s records. So that counts for something.

Chuck Berry is the primary one of a small group of men who invented rock and roll. He was the first person inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and was inducted on the day it opened. This song is part of the invention of rock and roll.

After Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977, the African American newspaper, the Chicago Defender explained that: “When Elvis Presley breathed his last breath and the press hailed him as the ‘King of Rock,’ Ol’ Man River cried out, ‘Naw he ain’t! My friend Chuck Berry is the King of Rock. Presley was merely a Prince who profited from the royal talent of a sovereign ruler vested with tremendous creativity. Had Berry been white, he could have rightly taken [Presley’s] throne and worn his crown well.’”

In 1977, NASA launched two spacecraft - Voyager 1 and 2 - to explore Jupiter, Saturn and FAR, FAR BEYOND. Each carried a 12-inch gold plated record that contained music, sounds and images picked to represent the great diversity of life on Earth. The idea was maybe one day extraterrestrial life far away would stumble on the records and learn something from us. Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode'" was embedded with the likes of: Beethoven's; Fifth Symphony; Stravinsky's' Rite of Spring; and Bach's, Brandenburg Concerto No. 2. No other rocker made the cut (not the Beatles, not Elvis, not the Stones, not Hendrix, Joplin, or Morrison). This song is literally "far out" among the stars. Now that's immortality. Who knows, maybe a billion years from now some alien being will be tapping their tentacle to Johnny B. Goode.
