    As a believer, I appreciate your honesty. I grew up in church and thought I was a christian for many years. It wasn't until one night when I was 31 y.o. that I received the Holy Spirit and everything changed in an instant. I cried for four hours nonstop. Nothing has been the same since. For years I tried to hold onto faith by my own power, and found it impossible at times. I no longer deal with that. I can hear the sincerity in your voice and it saddens me, because I've been on the edge of where you are presently. I'm praying that God will reveal Himself to you and remove all doubt while there's still time. Being honest with yourself is a big step, and I see that in you. Take care, my friend.

      I know what you're saying. The personal relationship with God, through the Holy Spirit is enough to keep you from backsliding. When He spoke to me personally, after transforming my heart with a feeling of peace, joy and love, its what also stops me from ever doubting who He is.

    Samuel Clemens said, "Religion was invented when the first con man met the first fool." As a 13 year old I found it hard to believe the Southern Baptist church I attended when they said black people couldn't go to heaven because they didn't have souls. You know that evangelicals will say you weren't truly saved because once saved always saved. Religion has one forte ... comforting words to people experiencing loss, illness and separation.

      When I read about the christian god commanding to kill every man, woman, & child (and the animals) of certain people groups, my soul just knew I could no longer defend it.
      A lot of christians believe people turn away because of the devil.... but in all reality ex-christians leave because of the evils commanded in the bible.
      I couldn't morally defend it anymore.
      I'm glad you could see through it from a young age 🙏🙏

    It’s really amazing that you spent so much time and effort “believing” as you did to eventually realize that much of what you were taught to believe is false. I was brought up in a similar way as yourself, then went to college and eventually determined that most of what I was taught is nonsense. And like you, for me, there is no going back. And like you, I don’t try to convince anyone from my earlier years to think like I do now. It really takes a lot of critical thinking and introspection to get away from the Christian lifestyle. I have a lot of family down in South Georgia and I consider them to be lost and victims of culture. I get why you’re agnostic. It’s the logical position since one cannot prove or disprove the existence of god. I consider myself agnostic as well since the concept of “god” just no longer is part of how I think about this reality. I don’t have beliefs either. There are things I know, things I don’t know and things I can never know and that’s ok. If I’m interested in knowing about something, I’ll research the topic and learn enough to be satisfied. For things I cannot know, I have theories for possibilities, but I don’t establish any belief for any nebulous topic. It is a strange reality we live in though. Welcome to reality, whatever it is.

      Many people have a certain set of consonants and vowel combinations that repeat often once they feel comfortable enough and figure out how to go into a hypnotic state. I have body memory now after doing it so much, that I can snap right back into it using the same gibberish "word" patterns.
      It is incredibly hypnotic and I think that's why it is so appealing to some people. It felt other-worldly when I was doing it, but that was because I believed it was the spirit of god taking over my body.
      Once I figured out my own comfortable gibberish patterns though, after awhile I could fake the hypnotic state. Deep down I knew I was consciously doing it and I was doing it to feel part of the "anointed"/"special" group of people.
      I was able to since I was 8! If you see your parents/community do it consistently, a child will want to copy it.

I was completely against Christianity my whole life and my mother is Wiccan. I became a Christian in a strange way. I was alone at work late at night trimming weed on the pot farm I worked on. I don't smoke and I wasn't on anything but what I now know as the Holy Spirit came upon me and it was the craziest thing that ever happened to me. I know you don't believe anymore and that's ok with me just thought I would give some background on me. Any way I feel as though I enjoy your videos on this topic bc there were so many things once i became a Christian that didn't seem Biblical or make sense to me. Like the not having value thing. If we didn't have value why would Jesus do what he did for us. Or the women being less than thing it says no jew gentile man or woman... so meaning we are all equal. New subscriber here! I came from Cults to Consciousness. Shelise Ann Sola is amazing, don't you agree? Loved your interview there. Just a note, call yourself whatever you want to my friend. You do you. Personally, I'm an agnostic atheist. The two terms are not mutually exclusive. I am an atheist because I do not hold a belief in a god or gods. I am agnostic because I cannot make a definitive claim to have knowledge that there is or is not a god or gods. It goes back to the Latin roots of the words. Take the word atheism and break it down into it's basic parts: "A"(denoting the absence of) -"Theism" ( so atheism is the absence of theistic belief in the existence of a god or gods). BELIEF being the key word here. The root word "Gnostic" relates to KNOWLEDGE claims. I don't have definitive proof or evidence (thereby KNOWLEDGE) that no god or gods exist and so I am agnostic. Generally, though, I think the bible makes an excellent doorstop.

    How did life begin? How did the first atoms form?

    • @tonymiller3788
      @tonymiller3788 3 месяца назад

      Let me help. WE DON'T KNOW. (The life question anyway. We know how the first atoms formed. The abundance and ratio of light elements is proof of the big bang)
      Saying WE DON'T KNOW THERFORE GOD adds no additional information.
      I bet we will answer the life question in the next 50 years. We now have evidence from Mars that organic compounds, the building blocks of life, are the result of sunlight breaking down CO2 in a CO2 rich atmosphere.

    • @tonymiller3788
      @tonymiller3788 3 месяца назад +1

      How the first atoms formed is well understood. It's part of the proof of the big bang, that the models of the process result in the correct ratios of the light elements.
      As for abiogenesis, there is much research ongoing and new findings come out almost weekly. We will figure this out eventually.
      I would not hang my hat on a god of the gaps argument. Most of the historical gaps have already been filled by science. Chances are high that trend will continue.
      And in no way does requiring a god to explain the unknown get you specifically to the Christian version.

She's right though, I'm 38 now and it's just not worth the risk. I hope and pray you come back to Jesus one day brother.

    I’m curious to know what lead you to become a “Christian” in the first place. If it was genuinely in faith and a true encounter with God and the Holy Spirit what lead you to abandon your faith in the first place? I would assume that the actuality of having a genuine encountering and relationship with God it would be difficult to leave him. Unless you never really genuinely believed ? Also your beliefs in speaking in tongues is not based on true doctrine and what is actually written in the bible. It seems as though there was a gap in your understanding of the Bible and the word of God.

    I've been watching your episodes about religion and brainwashing. I live in Sweden and we are overall not as religious as americans. I remember my mom put me in bible school every sunday when I was around 5 years old and I hated it and I saw the leaders as hippocrates. Fake smiles and humility lol. Then she put me in a club for young communists (communist from an american perspective, here we call it socialist) and that was even worse. I could see right through them. I remember it til this day very clear, escpecially one of the women who did the best she could to convince me. I didn't know about brainwashing but I knew they wanted to mess with my mind just like the church. Then she let me do horse riding and everything was okey from then lol What I wonder though is about how to interpret the bible? I have a very religious friend and most times she interprets it very literally and another time she says like "no it means this it's not literal". I'm wondering how one thing can be interpreted as literaly true and another thing not and how to know how to interpret. I'm just overall cuoriuos about that. I've came across it a couple of times and it gets me intrigued. I don't want to ask my friend because she easily gets upset and then she might have to cleanse bad spirits for hours (lol yes that has happened). I find it so weird that grown ups behaves like this. She is 60 years old and I saw the BS when I was around 5 already. And I want to add that I do not think bad about every day christians. The ones that still has common sense. I totally understand why some morals in the bible are attractive. Like not to steal, kill etc. Good values for anyone and also common sense.

    It seems to me that from a false, hyper-Grace charismatic pastor you became either an apostate or what you had always been, an enemy of God. The perverted ‘once saved always saved’ doctrine acknowledges salvation from God, but gives a heretical licence to sin with no commitment to follow Christ. It denies the consequences to our sins and focuses on the penalty being waived, which is unbiblical. It’s still a manmade system of no consequence.
    Have you ever tried to separate where salvation comes and what doing the will of God means? You cannot boast about earning one but it’s our duty to do good, that’s what we were redeemed for. It’s the classic issue of faith and works and whether we could lose our salvation. In the end, the charismatic/pentecostal emotion-based faux-Christianity leaves people empty as there is no refinement of the character, it’s all about the blessings.
    Out of the seven churches Christ addressed in Revelation, only two did not need to repent. The last one, the lukewarm church sounds a lot like these evangelical churches.
