Bro it is truly insane how much love Metroid got this generation. 2 new characters in Smash, Prime getting a remaster, the long-awaited Prime 4, and Dread returning and now both Zero Mission and Fusion on GBA NSO and the other games on the other console NSO as well. Metroid fans are EATING, ya love to see it
This era is not as good as the golden age of Metroid (2002-2009), but it is really close.
Being an Metroid fan is easy. Most of there games never disappointed me ( aside from Other M ) and there so much fun.
@@jaretco6423 What about Federation Force? I thought Metroid fans despised that game.
You're forgetting the OG Metroid, Metroid 2 and Super Metroid all being on the NSO as well. The only games we're missing are Samus Returns, MP2, MP3 and Other M. We don't count Federation Force lol.
@SaltyToad00 Eh. It wasn't bad. It's an spinoff game and it's ok. But rather boring at times. It wasn't an proper Metroid game we wanted back than.
0:21 You can tell whoever was playing to record footage was a big fan and was having fun, bro HAD to bombjump at least once while playing, good for him.
well to be fair you have to bomb jump that spot to progress so I think Nintendo expects anyone playing to be able to do that.
@@fdsal0It’s not actually required. You normally get there from using the ice beam and high jump boots. Bomb jumping here just lets you get the Varia suit early.
@@fdsal0 No you do not. That's a sequence break. Once you get bombs intended route is going to Kraid or Norfair. That shaft is intended to be climbed with ice beam
@@fdsal0either that, or High Jump and Ice Beam
Guy was definitely using techniques causal players might not try or attempt.
For sure a sequence break maneuver if used in the right areas.
The definitive way to play Metroid 1
It's been a while but i think you can unlock the original as well? I mean pointless with switch online NES but still lol
or play metroid planets
@@dun0790Yeah, you can unlock the original Metroid once you finish the game the first time
I’ve played both, and while Zero Mission is certainly better, it’s so different than the original that it’s practically a different game.
Nah original metroid has its charm. I first played it though zero mission, once i got used to playing the original i play original metroid from time to time.
One of the best games on the system. Never played Metroid?
It's a great place to start.
It's THE place to start. It's literally the beginning.
@@RaFaPilgrimmore of a remake of the beginning, but yes
Agreed. It’s the first Metroid game I ever played when I started back in 2016
I started with Super Metroid. I played 1 and 2 and tbh besides Samus Returns i did not think the first was too different from 3. So tbh if i recommend it to anyone i would tell them to start with Super Metroid, Fusion, then Dread and just read up on the story for 1 and 2.
@@RaFaPilgrimnope, metroid on the NES is the place to start, then super metroid on the SNES, then this if not fusion before it.
This is a Metroid world. We just live in it.
Played this when they released it on Wii U virtual console. It holds up so well
Replace the space pirates with wokies and bingo!
The fact that they put a bomb jump clip in the *trailer* is just hilarious to me.
Going for that early Varia Suit, lol
90% of the gameplay shown is taken from the idle demo that plays on the main menu, I’m 99% pretty sure the bomb jump to varia was also in the gameplay demo. That’s why I love this game so much it’s meant to be broken
I love the filter they used. It makes the colors still pop while not being so bright.
I love this too, I even prefer it.
You could also use an emulator...
@@null-Oh-6666 i do, but none of the color correction filters on mgba look as good as this one. Those ones tend to make the game look a little too dark.
@@Magic_Ice have you tried HDR settings? The colors are nice and the movements smooth, especially when you have a UHD monitor
Love that the trailer shows sequence breaking at 0:21 to early Varia
That buns shot right at the end pure cinematic magic as always
Metroid fans eating well this Direct. Metroid Zero Mission on NSO and a new Metroid Prime game.
The long awaited Metroid Prime 4…now with gameplay footage.
I’ve waited seven years, almost half of my life, for this moment.
I actually was hoping for Metroid Prime Echoes Remastered but considering that version was rumoured to be finished as a simple HD version and it isn't being released, increases the odds of that game getting a full Remaster.
This is my favorite game ever made, along side halo, resident evil, metal gear and Mario. This game entertained me for years as a child. The music is top tier.
The comic book/manga artstyle of this game is still my favorite of any 2D Metroid
I just put it on, and the Fusion ending gallery is unlocked right off the hop.
I never could get any of those endings back in the day.
The Metroid Manga is Canon, and is a direct prequel to this game, so that's why the art style is similar.
Have you seen the beta? The art direction was more similar to that of the NES sprites. Hopefully the ROM will get dumped someday.
I finished Fusion yesterday.. so I was looking a way to play Zero Mission..
I dont need to worry more haha
Now if they can port samus returns to switch.
You can easily play this for free on a free emulator on a computer or even a smartphone instead of paying to play it on the switch
@@BoxCarBoy12 yeah we have this option too.. but it will be the first time I play it.. so, for some really good games, i think they deserve a better retribution, imo of course
@@BoxCarBoy12 sadly those websites have been shut down
Just beat fusions 100% last night for the 1st time now off to play zero missions
You could tell this trailer was made by a Metroid fan. All the pivotal moments in the game highlighted by that epic Metroid fanfare.
This is the only Metroid game I've never played. I'm so glad I can now experience it.
This one is fantastic. You'll have a great time.
You'll have an blast with this one.
Prepare to have your mind blown away.
Zero Mission is not only one of the best Metroid games, but possibly the best GBA game too! Hope you enjoy! :)
You should give the other games a try.
This was such a well-cut trailer. Fantastic work from whoever did it!
If we can get this, We can get Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland
Amen
ABSOLUTELY
This is about samus not kirby take this comment to a kirby trailer
@Manbearpigg do not listen to him. Evidence has shown that the manbearpig does not exist.
@@Manbearpigg
One of my all time favorite Metroid games.
new trailers for old games continues to be the best part of the switch gen
1:37 they know what they were doing with this shot. 🙈
What else were they gonna do with a skintight suit? Make her have nothing?
I kinda wish they didn't show that part of the game in the trailer, it's a really cool surprise and it actually made me jump the first time I played the game and thought I was done.
Not only that, this trailer actually zooms in on it. In the game it's more zoomed-out than that.
This trailer is really really good
I have no idea how I ended up with this game back on the GBA. I've never heard of her till Super Smash Bros so I either saw in store and bought it or it was gifted to me.
What's significant to me about this game is, this was one of the first games I ever beat outside Pokemon and GBA Kirby. Beat it multiple times, too. I'm so glad they finally put it out because this is the game to start with over the original if you're playing the games in order.
Someone kind stranger at a videogame store might have helped you. Its what happened to me. My dad bought me a GBA and 2 games for my birthday one year. Pokemon Ruby and Metroid ZM. I only wnated Pokemon and had no idea ehat Metroid was. But the guy at the store convinced my dad to pick it up along with Pokemon. I didn't play it at first for a few weeks, then gave it a try and was hooked ever since.
This game was my junior year high school game. 100% this one and got every ending. Playing it again is very special!
Its been years... and I can still remember the location of all the items in ZM :')
Super, Fusion, and Zero Mission were my bread and butter as a kid.
Upon retrospect, I came to the realization Metroid shaped me in a couple ways to this date.
I used to play this for hours on end as a kid, I loved all the eerie environments and encounters, and kept trying to get all the secrets
Finally. Been waiting for this game to get re-released
its about bloody time this got on the service
Still my favorite Metroid.
This was my intro to Metroid a couple years ago... It's so good! Glad more people finally get the chance to play this
My absolute faborite Metroid is this and Super, what an absolute banger.
Game was uploaded to Nintendo Online yesterday.
I've already completed it 100% in normal and hard mode.
Wow, that’s dedication
Alright, now low percent it on Hard Mode in under 2 hours
This game, and Metroid Fusion are some of the best Metroid games.
Playing it now! LOVE IT
Still my favorite game of all time. Everything about zero mission is perfect
0:41 -- This version of the Brinstar Theme (referred to as Final Attack in Zero Mission's Soundtrack) is still one of the best renditions of it because of how triumphant it is, and it is especially fitting for the moment in the game you hear it, when Samus fully powers up with the Gravity Suit and then goes on a tear through Ridley's freshly-landed space pirate force, pushing them back out of the Chozo Temple they had been hunting Samus through.
looooved this game so much as a kid. it was so ahead of its time. just a fantastic game
i wouldn't call a game from 1985 remade in 2004 ahead of it's time
This was my favorite Metroid on GBA and one of my favorites ever. I’ve been playing this all day!
My first Metroid game. Used to play this as a kid on a Gameboy SP kiosk at a Walmart so many years ago. Went on to become my favorite Metroid game, along with Prime.
I’m so happy I can finally play them on my Switch.
Zero Mission was the first Metroid game I ever played! I tried it out when it was ported to the Wii-U, and I fell in love with the series from there!
Happy to see this port is finally here! (alongside MP4’s trailer after waiting for 7 years)
finally a version of metroid 1 that's actually playable!
Only for $50! What a steal
@@baldigang7034Only $10 on a family plan.
Metroid 1 on NES is great. It's like playing Elden Ring if you go in blind, because nothing makes sense but the fun part is exploring.
@@baldigang7034dude NSO expansion pass is more than worth its price at this point. Grow up.
@@RaFaPilgrim Hey dude, you’re the one paying that much for dripfed ROMs, so you go enjoy that, insulting people randomly says a lot more about you than it does me.
Love how they did an individual trailer for this and ALttP even though they shadow dropped in the direct with the other games. Metroid is such an awesome franchise and I’m glad more people will experience these games. Looking at the cartridge next to me right now feeling nostalgic. Long live Metroid!
Wasn't expecting chills from this trailer. That Brinstar theme goes hard!
Looking forward to play this!
I love it when they put out trailers for there NSO games
I'm glad to finally see this game on Nintendo Switch Online. With Metroid Fusion already on there, I had hoped to see Zero Mission.
One of my favorite games as a kid I love it
I had barely started getting into the Metroid series since the end of last year. I've been playing the games I can easily get my hands on. When playing Fusion, I had been wondering where the heck Zero Mission was. Even last night when sharing my hopes for Prime 4 I had hoped for at least another Prime remaster of 2 or 3, or even this on NSO.
I just can't believe it. What a time to be a Metroid fan. Especially for a newcomer like me.
I used to play keyboard in my teens and Kraid is the only song I still remember how to play lol
Its been 20 years!
One of the first games I ever played!!! So happy it's more accessible to everyone now
The first Metroid game I played! Got it as a gift from my parents and Fusion too later on! This game shaped my taste in games and movies from that moment.
Legendary trailer, Legendary soundtrack, Legendary game !!!
Been waiting for this one to be on switch
My favorite Metroid game in the series!!!! Short and sweet and has everything great about the series in one package!
This was the first Metroid game I ever beat, and for the longest time, it was my favorite Metroid! Glad we can all revisit it at last with Nintendo Switch Online('s Expansion Pack)!
It's crazy it's been nearly *20 Years* already since this released!!
You first timers for this GBA game are gonna have a blast and understand why so many call it one of the best remakes in history in the same leagues as stuff like REmake and HG/SS.
What a day for Metroid 🎉
Thank you been waiting for this
I love that we get new video game trailers for 20+ year old games, highlighting why they are still awesome!
Great game, but the nintendo switch needs Metroid Samus Returns HD!
facts Prime 2 & 3 remastered too
Agreed. I'm playing that on my 3DS I still have. I'd rather play on a pro controller.
steam deck + citra = nice
This deserves ovation, ladies an gentlemans
As a Metroid fan im now complete and now as starfox fan the series need more love
I used to play zero mission when I went to Greeley Central high School. I bought it spring of 2006 by way of trade in.
The freaking music of this game ❤
Playing Super Metroid on NSO turned me into a Metroid fan, since then I've been consuming as much Metroid on Switch as I can, really excited for this
You'll love Zero Mission. It feels like Super Metroid, but the speed is cranked up ×100
Such a great game and one of my favs. Highly recommended classic
it was about time that we finally got this
So happy this is up. Zero Mission is one of my all-time favorite games. =)
I played this when Dread was revealed, now it's one of my favorite games of all time and my favorite Metroid game!
My favorite Metroid game on the NSO! My life is now complete
My childhood lives on
I’m living for the Metroid love
Peak of the Metroid games!
This is my childhood!
Metroid music is 🐐
Memories
Larga vida a Metroid!!!.
Finally! I've been waiting for this
Finally it has arrived I started it just yesterday and it's wonderful to play
Love this game.. can’t wait to replay it for the 10th time
I beat this game for the first time last month on the Wii U. Awesome game!
YES I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
I will never stop singing the praises of Zero Mission. It's so good.
2D Metroid is just amazing
My moment has finally come, the game that I loved as a child is present, thanks to Nintendo.
A masterpiece.
I wish Metroid was more popular. It’s way too niche for how good it is.
Sci fi anything just has a cult following... it's not on everyone's radar.
Really hoping they market Prime 4 correctly so that this can be fixed. The Metroid games are phenomenal and people need play them.
We’re getting there! After Dread and Prime Remastered we’re definitely getting more and more fans!!!!
That's fine, Metroid should stay a cult classic.
@@Z-Man7don’t gatekeep
my favorite Metroid game
Played this game and it's tough to beat
besides most prime games and samus returns, im pretty sure this means you can play every metroid game on the switch now
and that makes me so happy
It's good that old games get added to Nintendo online like this so young people can play them for first time. Zero Mission is the perfect entry point to the Metroid franchise for anyone looking to get into it.
Just played this last month on my 3DS
Thank you so much nintendo. This, and zelda minish cap have been the 2 gba games I've been hoping to play the last 3 years, and now I can play them
I'm like already halfway through it
I've already beaten it lol
@@RaFaPilgrimI've beaten it like 10 times on my gba. Back in the day.
Amazing Direct. This one completes the collection, great game.
Objectively one of the best remakes in all of video games.
Amazing trailer!
YES waiting for this
This is a great introduction to Metroid. Highly recommend it if you've ever been interested in the series but hesitant on where to start.
My personal favorite Metroid game.
