I got mine updated yesterday. I’m truly blown away once again with the latest possibilities! Thnx guys! SB3 is becoming part of my signature sound for sure! 🙏😎👍
I am very excited... Just upgraded from 2 to 3... I have used SB2 in every song... I am sure I gonna use sb3 even more... also will then put out my own use case videos
Simplest pitch shaper is just a high cut filter where you cap at a certain frequency and have a resonance. Because frequency correlates to pitch, and no higher pitch would be audible, and resonance makes the highest pitch in the signal slightly louder, your ears would recognize a pitch change. But you'd loose the overtones and looking up the Hz freq. in a datasheet is tedious.. on the other hand, for a real pitch filter, they'd need to license the Melodyne algorithm. With this one, it would be possible to retain overtones and modulate pitch almost artifact free including overtones
@@fluctura Thanks for taking the time to write this! I agree with you and Melodyne does the job. How do you use Shaperbox functionality most often? Giving a groove to tracks? Sidechaining, maybe remixing whole parts? Let me know if you have time, have a wonderful holiday season!
Really impressed with the recent updates and how you take user feedback into account! I am using ShaperBox on every song I make, for both sidechain and creative effects. You did an awesome job with this plugin!
It is - it is amazing indeed! think of building risers, or modulating pitch with a bit of envelope follower, .. We've already started working on this, and we will add this in an update!
DAMN! You guys are amazing, best purchase I ever made. Have you ever thought of introducing a random sample and hold mode for the shapers? Would be cool to have a random filter value anytime it loops, or just a new randomised curve every time
Yes, random knob with cent grade, perlin noise driven pitch variation would be reaally great. With perlin noise you'll get consecutive "close by" pitches that doesn't sound like you're having artifacts even if the max range of pitch deviation is huge. It will feel more like "breathing" in and out than suddenly being surprised by a randomly different pitch per sample
Very interesting update. You definitely need to give us an envelope for the pitch. Would also be cool if you demonstrated how you made the sustained drums so that we could make our own for the future.
All these features are starting to replace old methods of mine, really incredible stuff! I'm loving all this new stuff! Wish there were a way to use custom noises 👀
VIDEO IDEA: You gave a tip on adding reversed hats/clicks before transients in drum loops for nice snappy sound. How would one accomplish this using the noise shaper? Having it rise quickly and duck on transients? Been trying to fine tune this myself
Exactly! Pre-transients can be quite short, so try a short volume ramp and then bring down the volume to 0 when the transient hits, or right before it, for best impact.
1. Put ShaperBox on a new track and load NoiseShaper. 2. Select "Noise Only" mode in the top area. 3. Disable the Envelope (Power button on far right of interface). 4. Change LFO Length from "1 Bar" to "1/16" (lower left of interface). 5. Draw a "spike" shape like the one in the video (the "Ramp down" Wave Preset in bottom left is a good starting point). 6. From the Type menu, choose one of the Percussion noises (it's the very last section in the menu). 7. Tweak the LFO and settings to customise. Add more Shapers to shape the sound further!
This is very good tip, Joe, But don't you need seperate the kick, snare ect into different tracks for a mix or you can just use it like this in video for a mix ?
Thanks! Mostly you'll want your different drum hits on separate tracks for mixing, but sometimes I'll use a full loop or drum break if it suits the song 👍 - Joe
You can! It needs a bit of setup, but then you can browser your own noises just as our factory noises. Check the "User noise import" section in the NoiseShaper chapter in the PDF manual - download the manual here: www.cableguys.com/shaperbox-tutorials.html
Yes, there are several ways to trigger noise amplitude in NoiseShaper. The envelope follower uses incoming audio dynamics. You can also use any audio signal or MIDI to retrigger the LFO.
Now that you have Audio and envelope follower - would it be possible for you to license the Melodyne DNA algorithm from Peter Neubäcker? With this one a real pitch shaper would be possible that would retain overtones and modulate pitch almost artifact free including overtones 🙃🙂 Imagine the possibilities... this feature would revolutionize FX
Hi Guys, I'm abusing hell out of your ShaperBox and MidiShaper for both sound design and mixing (Hope FilterXL soon) How would one approach creating my own custom drum noises from samples?
Yes - to automate FilterShaper Core’s Cutoff (or Resonance, or Drive in DriveShaper, Bits or Samplerate in CrushShaper etc), simply automate the Envelope's Shift slider (which is an automatable parameter) to offset the LFO. This works even with the Envelope's Amount at 0%. Allowing automation of Cutoff and Resonance as regular VST/AU parameters could unleash chaos, because of the way Shaper parameters work with LFO drawing.
We need delay and reverb effects still. Would be cool if we can switch between classic and convolver reverb or any other classic reverb mode like shimmer and you can still work on the reverb/isolate it! PLEASE MAKE IT happen to top it a master lvl wich you can automate in all daws would just pure perfection! Pitch function as in the Noise Effect would be usefull as well and even the mono function but instead just for reverb
