    Such an informative video. I just ordered the RX Pro and watching this video took me for a ride. Hearing all the issues you've had with it scared me, yet despite the issues you still endorse its capabilities, which tells me this bike is certainly worth it. Thanks for the review.

    I just love your videos and content. You should have 1,000x’s more subscribers. For those of us that are at the very entry level of your channel lol we are going look back on these days fondly when it was just a few of us.

      Your comment surprised me, I’m glad you’re enjoying the content.
      Today I was thinking about stopping Shaky Hands. I stopped to have a look at the analytics, something I rarely do, and I see that there really has been some growth to this little channel.
      I’d like nothing better than to be able to document my adventures in retirement and share them, just not sure if it’ll be possible.
      Your comments made me rethink things, I truly appreciate the support and ongoing comments!
      I really like the look of your bike, they designed the frame beautifully.
      Does it have dual battery capability or will you just switch it out?
      So nice having the extra power, almost no range anxiety.
      With thanks,
      Rick

      @evanmc7409, lol, well, I have 10,000 kms on mine, had it for 14 months and have had trouble with the motors, but that’s it, everything else has been great.
      I wish I could find a bike that does what this one does, but so far haven’t found it. Mine pulls my trailer with ease, goes long distances as advertised and is comfortable, my experience says the motors are garbage, the controllers specifically.

      @shakyhandpictures2185, there are numerous bicycle companies that excel in their craftsmanship. While your personal experience may not have been too negative, it's worth noting that the bike may benefit from higher-quality components, particularly the Bafang Ultra, which deserves a more suitable e-bike derailleur instead of the standard bicycle derailleur Rize provides. I would recommend avoiding the Rize RX and RX Pro models altogether. In fact, I wouldn't recommend investing in Rize bikes due to their subpar customer service, which has even led to customers being banned from sharing their experiences in Facebook groups when asked. This company's practices are quite questionable.

      Just a heads up, I mentioned my neighbour in the video, he’s had a problem with his bike and his experience with Rize has been horrible. It’s been down for over two week now and still hasn’t had any resolution.
      I do love the bike but I’ve had to be rather aggressive in order to get any satisfaction for their customer service department. Just want you to know that ahead of time.
      Take care and thanks for checking it out.

      @@shakyhandpictures2185 I suspect that the issues with the mid drive motor are not uncommon. The Bafang geared rear hub they are using now is (I think) a step in the right direction.
      As a concept, I am fully behind the ebike movement and I hope that Rise can iron things out quickly.
      Safe travels!

      @davestewart1656 I’m pretty sure his is a controller issue, but I’m not an engineer so who knows.. I did run into a guy with the Rize RX hub drive bike, it didn’t have nearly the torque or the speed, but it was a tad quieter..
      The industry is young, these companies are new and the demand grows daily it seems! Best of luck to you, just wanted you to be aware. Cheers!

    Would you recommend going with the hub drive instead if dealing with the aggravation from the mid drive?

    • @shakyhandpictures2185
      @shakyhandpictures2185  3 месяца назад +1

      @benjaminbertrand4117, if you don’t need the torque of the mid drive, maybe. Problem is when you get a flat tire you need to unhook all the electronics, they have about 1/2 the torque of a mid drive so for me personally it’s always going to be mid drive.
      I’m really not familiar enough with the hub drives to comment other than that, sorry.
      Thanks for the comment and the view!

    To me , that it has only on range of gear on the front is loading the motor with too mich energy . .. from all you said the problems come from that single gear ration on the pedal. .. it is just one gear on the crank ?

    • @shakyhandpictures2185
      @shakyhandpictures2185  Год назад +2

      It’s just like driving a manual car, you simply need to use the gears as you would while driving. It’s 180nm of torque, way more than the drivetrain was designed for. Companies are now producing drive systems that can manage the torque.
      Ebikes only have one crank gear, at least any I’ve seen. There’s a problem with the Bafang drives, they seem to lack sufficient grease causing premature issues.
      Once the warranty is up I’ll be pulling the side off the motor to grease the gears, I’m sure that’ll help..
      in 10 years we’ll look back and see just how primitive these bikes were, the industry is still cutting its teeth I’m afraid.

    • @shakyhandpictures2185
      @shakyhandpictures2185  Год назад +1

      @ginor8416 the warranty is 1 year on the entire bike.
      The motor needs to be greased, it’s pretty straight forward or you can see if there’s a shop that’ll do it.
      Some people have installed grease fittings onto these notoriously noisy motors and after having three of them o can safely say it’s happened on all of mine.
      There are a few good videos on RUclips that’ll show you how to grease them and the Rize video on removing the motor is good as well.

      If your post warranty just take the motor out and grease it, Bafang add very, very little grease to theirM620 motors and they will get loud over time. There are several vids on youtube on how to do this and what grease to use.

      @@ginor8416 I felt the same way until i realized half the guys at my local bike shops were clueless or would not work on a bike purchased online or not from them. I have not used a LBS in a few years so im hoping things have improved since then.
      I will say this, you only buy the tools once and they are not pricey on Amazon, the gasket is really the easiest thing to damage while greasing so you could always buy a back up just in case.
      Stuff like motor swaps and greasings are not as fun as riding but you can usual do these type of jobs in a day, LBS sometimes take weeks and charge a fortune to boot!
      If i could do this stuff im sure most folks can, im clumsy and not the brightest!

    IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE TORQUE IS TOO POWERFUL FOR THE GEARS AS THEY ARE DESIGNED AND MANUFACTURED
    THE MOTOR AND GEARING NEEDS TO BE MORE ROBUST AND BUILT STRONGER, FOR DURABILITY AND LONGEVITY 😳

    • @shakyhandpictures2185
      @shakyhandpictures2185  Год назад

      @billjones261, The first motor had gear noise, the remaining issues are all controller related, and this last one is completely my fault. The M620 has metal gears, they require more grease than they come from the factory, but they are impressive, honestly.
      I’ll be doing a short video on this experience and the cost of my screw up through my own ignorance, costly bloody lesson.

    • @elevenAD
      @elevenAD Год назад

      the motor is robust, the gears just don't seem to have much grease. The rear cassette is a whole other story.

    • @shakyhandpictures2185
      @shakyhandpictures2185  Год назад

      @elevenAD, it’s always the controller, the grease is a manufacturer issue, easily resolved by the owners. Not sure what you mean by the cassette is the issue, these are wear parts easily diagnosed and replaced.

    • @elevenAD
      @elevenAD Год назад

      @@shakyhandpictures2185 i mean the cassettes gears are quickly worn but the motor gears are actually pretty solid, they are just noisy and may wear prematurely due to lack of grease. If your having controller issues there are some upgraded after market controllers available for that motor. I think wattwagons have one and there are a few others.
