The reason I wanted to watch this video was to find out why the ones who weren't returning were not returning. The only one you explained was Jubilee.
The original gambit voice was perfect. I’ve never heard a single person that’s ever held a candle to that actor. I think his last name was Potter.

The OG’s voices probably changed. Either they or the crew decided they weren’t the right fit anymore. But gave them new roles. I will admit, they fit their new roles well.
Storm, Rogue and Wolverine's voices were so iconic.

Jennifer Hale has been voicing Jean for a while now. If you played Marvel Vs Capcom 3, or watched Wolverine and the X-MEN, she was already Jean in those.
Did not play the vs game, but was working up a video on marvel arcade games and MAN there was a long run in that series of games.. Missed that she was in Wolverine and the X-men..great catch. Such a great series ended way to soon.
Also the original voice for Black Cat in 90's Spiderman series.

I think Disney Plus should also do Spider-Man animated series from 1994 too because in the final episode Peter Parker/ Spider Man with Madame Web went on the search to find the real Mary Jane after that the series end with the cliffhanger, so I think Spider-Man animated series 1994 should be revived just like X-Men 97.
I completely agree but unfortunately Disney/Marvel don’t have full rights to Spider-Man, Sony does. They will have to get permission from them and probably work with them to make this happen like they did with the movies for MCU.

Disrespectful, Chris is on the show but being used as another character makes no sense..thats why in general im very skeptical about reboots..the show runners pick and choose where to stick to the original roots.

Sunspot wasn't in the original 90s cartoon. Also, the original voices of Jean, Gambit, and Jubilee are part of this series, but in new roles.

I think it would be really cool if these returning voice actors made a live action appearance as the characters in the MCU, in one of the multiverse scenes.
Fun Fact: Jennifer Hale has done Jean Grey’s voice in Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon, Marvel vs Capcom 3, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.
I am real excited because Jen can really convey Jean’s gentle voice, her fierceness, and a god-like presence when she does Phoenix.
My theory (though we will have to wait and hear Valerie Coopers voice to confirm my suspicion): Catherine Discher’s voice might have changed from aging. I have no confirmation about it. It’s just a theory based on how aging works.

@@kevennava1476 From what I heard it was less she passed it on and that they wanted each characters VA to match the race of the character. Not sure if they included that for all characters tho.

The original voice actor for Gambit was Chris Potter, that other guy only took over in the fifth season. There is a super distinct difference between their voices and Chris is the one that most people think of when they think of Gambit.
Jen Hale as Jean Grey, was a surprise but a welcome one, but hearing Cal Dodd, Alison Sealy Smith, Geroge Buza and Lenore Zann reprising their most famous roles was like being drenched in the waters of youth,
I think it's cool that Jennifer Hale will be taking over the role of the original Jean Grey, since she voiced the latest incarnation in Wolverine and the X-men.
Jennifer Hale also star in Bayonetta.
If they’re trying to reclaim the vibe of the original series, it doesn’t make sense to have Jennifer Hale as Jean, nor Chris Potter as anyone but Gambit. Those voices are iconic. And those actors are still living. Hale was Jean in Wolverine and the X-men but Jean was only in about 4 episodes of that series. 🫤 I didn’t know Professor X was recast before watching this video. That seems odd as well. Although I get the reasoning behind Jubilee’s voice actor update. As I understand, the actress wanted the part to go to an Asian actress. I’m gonna miss “does a mall babe eat chili fries,” though. The new Cyclops sounds great! Chris Britton played Sinister, yet he’s not on IMDB as part of the cast, even though he’s supposedly a part of the first season. It feels like there’s purposely so mystique 😉 around the casting choices for the show. Anyhow there less that 3 weeks to see how everyone does. I’m excited!
Great video.... But you got your previous Gambit actor wrong. From season 1-4 Gambit was voiced by Chris Potter. The guy that they replaced him with in season 5 didn't even sound like Gambit, he sounded like Wish Antonio Banderas. It was NOT a good recast.
Funny story about Cedric Smith - he actually had a live appearance in a kind of alternate X-Men show. There was a kind of alternate take on mutants called Mutant X (great show, in my opinion) and he played the scientist whose discovery resulted in mutants being 'created'. Kind of a cool crossover moment.

Actually Allison Court apparently is going through something idk what exactly it is but apparently has to do with her no longer voicing Jubilee and also explains the reason why she was replaced as during the voice recording of Resident Evil 2 Remake (2019) and never got the chance to voice Jubilee or her most iconic character Claire Redfield

Alyson Court is not reprised her role as Jubilee, but one of the characters in X-Men 97, as a discussion between the RE star and the production demand an Asian actress for Jubilee. Or maybe the team discuss themselves about her.
She actually was in last weeks so its not a spoiler...she came back as a version of Jubliee... so she kind of did :)

True he was replaced by Tony Daniels. I don’t think Tony Daniels is doing any role in 97’. But Chris Potter (OG Gambit) is playing Cable now.
I thought Lenore Zann was a retired actress. I thought she was working as a politician. I did not expect her to come back. I am glad she did.
Jennifer Hale has been providing the voice for Jean Grey in several media forms of X-Men/Marvel games and shows for quite a few years now.

The original Jean Grey’s voice was so memorable. So sad she couldn’t reprise the role.
The cast both og & new did an outstanding job for their characters. The new series really pays respect to the original & of course, to the fans.
Wolverine doesn't sound cool to me anymore. Not sure if it's because there were multiple wolverine actors or audio technology change, or it's been too long that his voice changed. But I'm still looking forward to it
There's a short clip of cal dodd doing an old line of wolverine a few years back, and he sounds pretty good.

I was hoping this video was going to take voice clips of the original show with the current show... but it seems it was made before the show actually premiered... can you do a video of THAT? a real voice comparison from the original to the new voices even with the returning voice cast... the only 2 voices that don't sound different to me are Storm and Beast. I can tell the differences in Logan and Rogue, and even though Jubilee's voice actor changed I can't really tell the difference. even side by side in episode 4...

A lot of OG voice actors are returning, just not all of them reprising their roles. Jennifer Hale has voiced Jean Grey before in other X-men projects
Chris Potter was the principle voice for Gambit being credited for 72 out the 76 episodes in the series according to IMDb. Tony Daniels was credited with the remaining episodes. Daniels is also credited for voicing Gambit in the arcade video games.
I'm greatful for Rogue Storm and Wolverine coming back so I'm pleased
People are going to be "offended" by some of the changes/updates in the new show. Part of the problem is that too many expect an exact continuation of the 90s show. That is impossible for reasons too obvious to mention. When dealing with a "relaunch" of a classic show the focus should be on whether the spirit of the original was captured. From what I've seen so far, this was accomplished.
I agree with @eon001 That Storm, Rogue, Wolverine and Gambit voices were/are absolutely iconic. They put so much emotion, passion and life into their characters and I believe this is because of the accent that they provided…it was different from the typical everyday day voices that would be heard everywhere. Everyone sounded the same to the point that if you wasn’t watching there mouths moves you would think the same person voiced everyone. X-Men 97 formulated something very different and that alone is one of the reasons it was successful along with the "woke" movement…the actual definition of "woke". Batman was the only other American Animation that had an iconic voice even tho I wasn’t a DC back then it was still something that was very distinctive and would grab your attention.
Personally, I don't think they should bring Xavier back in the show. His final scene was one the show greatest moments and send off to Xavier, with the X-men finally becoming independent heroes and no longer needing a mentor to guide. Bringing him back would just undo all this development.
Catherine Disher is still in the series voicing someone else. I have a feeling she doesn't want to voice Jean anymore without Norm Spencer as Scott. She took his death really hard. The cast had a reunion video chat in memory of Norm Spencer and they announced she didn't want to be a part of it because she wanted to morn him in her own way. I'm probably reading into things but maybe she just wouldn't feel right playing Jean without Norm Spencer as Scott. Kind of like how Mark Hamill doesn't want to voice Joker without Kevin Conroy as Batman.
The original Jubilee voice was iconic when I think of this show. Not a fan of her getting ditched.

I don’t think it is realistic to think that you’re going to get all the people back doing voice overs for the show. Just not realistic. You can use AI to duplicate the voices but that method is not allowed due to the contract .

It was. The original actress, Alison Court, wanted it that way. Apparently Court will voice another character in the show. It’s possible her voice has changed too.

I'm very sorry to hear that they replaced Allison Stephanie Court as Jubilee ! Because another iconic role that allison has done in the past She's the original Claire Redfield ! I just find it sad regarding this. Because she's totally worth it when she does her work If you listen to the differences in the voice, you'll know what I'm talking about. She is highly talented and highly impactful when it comes to her roles ! Especially in the realm of voice Acting ! I just find it sad. Also that studios are doing all these budget cuts. So to speak and the fans or obviously not happy with this !

@@themarksmanoneandonly3076 I perfectly understand, I’m the same way with legendary voice actors like Kevin Michael Richardson, Jennifer Hale(who is in this series), and many others. However given Jubilee is an Asian character it does make a bit more sense to have an Asian voice actress play her(plus to avoid potential controversy of whitewashing). But if Allison does at least have a role then at least she’s a part of the revival and not left out entirely.

Chris Potter is the one and only Gambit. I do not and will never accept this new guy. It makes no sense to bring Chris back and not let him voice Gambit. That's like bringing Call Dodd back and let him do Mr Sinister. I am very disappointed now because I had high expectations.

Swapping out Jubilee was a dumb decision. Looks don't matter when it comes to voice-acting, it's all talent, that's the beauty of it. Anyone can play anyone. My problem with it is that if there were two Asian women auditioning for a role in the series, only one got the job because there's only one spot that fits their race? It's silly. This new actress could play Dazzler, Polaris, Emma, any character that became available but this practice of matching the looks to the animation only means that the positions are limited to something the voice-actors can't change. Sad.

I read somewhere that it was because they wanted her accent to sound natural, which is kind of a fair reason. Voice work, especially accents, can be pretty subtle to nail.

I don’t understand why did they change the costume with Jean Gray? And why does Jubilee have to be played vocally by an Asian? If you look at Deadpool, the second film, you see a black woman with an Afro play as Domino. But Domino had long straight hair and she was more Asian. 🤦🏻♂️ I’d say just stick to the comics and try not to force change on those who grew up knowing X-Men back in the 90s

The main reason having the original voice actors is SO important and its a main selling point of the show is because they are going to screw it up. Non binary Morph. Drawings made for kids aged 5. Again, puting the focus on "representation". All these are warning signs that, once again, Disney has no intention of producing a good quality story but only in expanding the PC agenda. So no, im not interested in this reboot. Iblove the XMen, and they were already a message of peace and peacefull coexisting attacking prejudice and discrimination, theres really no need to take away the subtext to spit it in our faces. We'll see. Time will tell is Disney turns the page and returns to good storytelling or if it will continue with their plan of waiting us, old farts, out until the already brainwashed new generations can determine the success or failure

You sound ridiculous...the reason the original cyclops voice actor isn't reprising his role is because he passed..typically the replacement is never better than the original..such as the alleged "srcubs u mentioned " they set the tone
Art direction is the most important thing and voices too. Xmen 97 does not hold up to the old xmen cartoon. Even Xmen Evolution looks better.

I was just about to say the same thing. Chris Potter was the main voice for Gambit. Potter was in Kung Fu, the Legend Continues and Silk Stockings, to name his bigger projects.

Agreed! Chris Potter! He was the original and made Gambit for a lot of people. No coincidence this is when Gambit surged in popularity when he was Gambit. He actually will be coming back, but only playing Cable. Hope the new VA does well, but wish they would of kept his original VA, Chris Potter.
Catherine Disher did return as part of the voice cast; she's just not reprising her role as "Jean" & instead was cast as Val Cooper. And Chris Potter was the person to originally voiced Gambit in the 90s series ---- not whoever the guy was that you mentioned. They said he (Chris) was recast as Cable in this current reboot.
