@@mikewallace8087 EVs have always had a bad rap and seen as driven by only eco-warriors and nerds. Tesla is making EVs cool by giving people what they want. The vast majority of people drive their "overpowered" EV in a responsible way after having a bit of fun first - which is what gets them in the seats to begin with. But, hey, I'm a freedom over safety person.
Autonomous driving brings major concerns for public safety and its development should not be left to private companies competing against each other. Don’t think that I am against autonomous vehicles. I think it will yield to much safer roads and I can’t wait to do away with commuting. But it must be a common software and hardware architecture shared between brands to ensure safe and predictable interactions between vehicles and environment.
@@Derpy1969 vehicular deaths don't bring the clickies unless a Tesla is somehow involved or the crash is spectacular enough. See also car fires and "recalls". Queue the Dirty Laundry song.
The damn driver was looking at their phone, not the road! It's FSD supervised, not FSD "don't bother watching the road at 75-80mph". Also was the old "highway stack" software back in 2022, not the current much improved software.
Fsd, apart from the software. I find that lidar and radar should be mandatory if you want to operate that system. Logical safety concerns, as the also dictate on lights/noise etc.
Why? We as humans do not have lidars and radars built-in and we can drive (poorly)! Seriously, I think Tesla determined that dealing with different classes of sensors does not improve the chance of making the correct choice, actually these sensors were in the way of achieving autonomous FSD. And let's be honest, they looked at the cost as well. Now, as having tested FSD myself a few months ago, I agree it is not ready to work without human supervision... though I found it was mostly much safer than myself. FSD as today is just a different way of driving: you are the "AI supervisor". As for 'free' Autopilot mentioned for the unfortunate accident, it is a different codebase I believe and it is more like a cruise control on steroids. Honestly, we as drivers are responsible and should not be complacent. For now!
Blaming FSD for a fatality is ridiculous. The driver must monitor the FSD driving at all times and be ready to take over. Blame the irresponsible driver! They are responsible for any death or accident that occurs as they are not using FSD properly. I have FSD on my used Tesla model 3. I carefully monitor it while I'm using it and keep my hands on the wheel ready to take over at any moment! That is the way it should be used as it is not perfected technology and Telsa is very clear that it must be supervised and warns users up front. FSD didn't kill that motorcyclist. The irresponsible driver killed the motorcyclist. How is suing Tesla going to fix this problem of users abusing the FSD software and not using it properly? I read the user agreement for FSD. It is very clear what my responsibilities are when using it and how to use it safely. Tesla is not responsible for the motorcyclist's death. So tragic that someone would be so irresponsible and cause this unnecessary death. SAD.
My understanding is the motorcycle was stopped in traffic. FSD didn't recognize the motorcycle and pulled forward trapping the driver underneath the Tesla.

@@Dularr The car was going between 75-80mph and the driver was looking at their phone. It was 2 years ago, much stronger driver attention monitoring has been implemented since then. FSD Supervised is not "don't bother watching the road at 80mph".
3:07 I've said it before here and I'll repeat myself now... Tesla FSD *CANNOT* determine the distance between itself and a motorcycle ahead because of the short distance between the motorcycle's taillights. FSD wrongfully calculates the motorcycle as a car in the distance. 11:48 Currently the least reliable vehicle sold in America. 13:53 *DEAR GOD* is that ugly. WOW!
This is why using multiple sensor types is crucial to making autonomous driving safe. Humans already have a hard enough time determining how far away a motorcycle of cyclist is, especially at night. Relying exclusively on visible spectrum introduces all the same limitations. One of the key potential strengths of autonomous is the ability to perceive the environment in ways humans cannot.
@@amperformance7998 Humans have 2 eyes and attention issues. Teslas have 8 cameras for a 360º view (and also use a wider spectrum than humans). Early FSD development had issues when one sensor would give different info than another, which one do you trust then knowing one is false? The current vision based A.I. FSD is working far better than the old human coded version that Tesla discarded.

It sure looks that way for the NACS adapters. I expect that when competitors put NACS inlets in their EVs they will source them from traditional connector suppliers, not Tesla.
Well done, Nikki... Keep it coming...!
FSD optimized for musk and VIPs is like partial geo mapping for them only. I hope it lives up to its name in my lifetime
Coming is, Solar storms encountering our weakening magnetic field that will silence Starlink . Catastrophe for FSD systems .

If Trump is against evs why does he then give them tarrifs dont you have a free market so customers can choose what they want and dont support any side ev or ice
Elon now supports Trump presidency.
I'm just waiting for the next Darwin Awards when people do stupid things with their vehicles. A truly "hold my beer" moment. No matter what kind of vehicle people drive, idiots abound.
Tesla Plaid driven by teens and other over powered EV's . Green mission is to conserve energy even if you think it is free. The gluttony should end.
So with your heavy implication that Tesla's are killing motorcycles left and right. I'd love to hear a extended story about it.
Many, many More are killed by human drivers. Where’s the outrage?
@@Derpy1969 vehicular deaths don't bring the clickies unless a Tesla is somehow involved or the crash is spectacular enough. See also car fires and "recalls". Queue the Dirty Laundry song.
The damn driver was looking at their phone, not the road! It's FSD supervised, not FSD "don't bother watching the road at 75-80mph". Also was the old "highway stack" software back in 2022, not the current much improved software.
@@erktrek advise you look up the details. This has been going on for a few years now
TE has ZERO evidence, to prove this.😂
Fsd, apart from the software.
For now!
@@claudeganter3911 because we don't have lidar......., that's dead end start isn't it.
Aditional regulation is not required. The civil courts will decide.
USA gov should regulate all gays.
SAD.
If Tesla and Elon Musk had not made such grandiose claims we’d agree… but it’s constantly been overhyped
No, no, no, everything is Elon's fault with Transport Evolved Tesla FUD.
My understanding is the motorcycle was stopped in traffic. FSD didn't recognize the motorcycle and pulled forward trapping the driver underneath the Tesla.
@@beachcrow You missed the tag on closing.
While it MAY be possible to despise Elon more than I currently do, it seems to me unlikely. That being said ...
There is a huge belief in the US that there are NO acts of God and that somebody should always be sued. Usually the one with lots of money, because otherwise what's the point? You can talk about it being overhyped, but only a moron would believe that you don't need to pay attention. (On the other hand, the US does seem to have cornered the world's supply on that type of person?) If I were a juror, it would either be "blame the driver" or a "hung jury" ... but hey, a cash grab IS the best way to deal with overwhelming grief (NOT).
@@Dularr The car was going between 75-80mph and the driver was looking at their phone. It was 2 years ago, much stronger driver attention monitoring has been implemented since then. FSD Supervised is not "don't bother watching the road at 80mph".
Visible light provides insufficient input. Radar, not Musk's ego, is what is needed.
Gamers don't do motorcycles (bicycles or pedestrians). Houston has a problem. Right Elon ?.
I found it amazing President Trump spoke before a clearly hostile audience. Of the two major candidates, President Trump is the only one to take questions.
But no debate makes that look like those questions were not a surprise

@alanrickett2537 Trump usually requires the questions be provided before they agree to the event. Also the reason why they were late was because Trump demanded that the live fact checking be dropped.
