There are a lot of clues that Billy either manifested or is influencing the Road. At the beginning of episode 4, looking at Sharon's body, Agatha says "I didn't think you had it in you" and when Billy replies "Who didn't have what in them?" she winks at him - The parallels to the posters in his room, yes, but ALSO the fact that all the trials are manifested from media he consumed; it's made pretty obvious that William/Billy is a film nerd ("Very Argento") and each trial is themed from a movie or TV trope - in addition to his interest in Magic(k). I do think Agatha has been on the Road before but it looks different to her this time because of whatever Billy is doing - in Episode 3, Billy says "It's just how I pictured it" and Agatha replies "Yes. It suits you." Hmm...
I sort of take that "I didn't think you had it in you" as Agatha realizing how billy could have escaped being destroyed when the hex faded, by snatching an empty body.
I think this road is something that Billy created and doesn't realize it just like Wanda didn't realize ( in the beginning) she created her hex. However, I think Agatha realized it at the time she said you're just like your mother. And when she said, "You really are a Maximoff, or else all of this wouldn't be so dramatic."
They aren't bees, they are cicadas, she creates confusion in her enemies. I suspect we learn more about them later as we go through Agatha's life, but even if they are fully gone, they are the reason Agatha didn't just shove Billy out the door and gave her the reason to run.
@@wefmn I am not sure if cicadas are hive minded or have the same sense of communication. Also, not sure Jac or anyone there had the fairly deep lore of the Salem Seven when they did WandaVision. Though Vertigo tends to be the most significant member since in the comics she can't transform. So she has the most dialog.

I'm not sure they're leaning into comic lore so heavily in this series concerning the Salem seven, we'll see if it comes up this week in the finale, but it's been listed in multiple outlets that the "big" witch of the Salem seven is producing cicadas. I don't really know much about real life cicadas and whether they're hive minded, but I don't think that has much to do with this show. The coven of the Salem seven are hive minded as stated by (I think) lillia. My only point was it's very clear across all other channels I'm watching that her animal ego is cicadas and this team seems to be missing out on that haha shows a lack of research to me, but no hate to you or the channel!
I have a theory, that Billy is rewriting the darkhold in his little pocketbook to bring his mom back. They keep showing that little book and it's going to have something to do with the darkhold, it just has to!
Or maybe we could find out that because time is cyclicur, that maybe Billy had some how written the darkhold all along. I dunno, that latest episode really introduced the answers to some crazy things about time and loops/fate.
Theres a new theory that states that the Witches Road is a legend that Agatha made up to gather witches to her so she could eat their magic. Then Billy came along and ended up creating the witches road, Agatha has been shocked and surprised of everything that has been happening.
I like this theory. Wpuld explain why she isn't too worried about the road in ep 2. And she just wants to coax them into blasting her. Then when the door opens she's surprised.
I wasn’t excited when they first announced the Agatha show, eye rolled…but was so so so hyped for Secret Invasion…and man, my expectations were totally reversed. Agatha is SO GOOD
I'm pretty sure Agatha has never been on the road. When the doors appear in ep 2 she looks more surprised than anyone. She just wanted to steal their magic. I think Billy manifested it subconsciously like Wanda did with the Hex, that's the "tell" that Agatha was referring to.
Agatha originally wrote the ballad of the witches road and she would lure other witches offering to let them walk it only to steal their powers. The road they're currently walking is a false reality subconsciously created by Billy and Agatha is playing along.
I like this idea, though I think the song is actually a metaphor for the life of every witch. So you could say that every witch walks the witches road. Jen and Lilia were hiding from their power so they had left the road and needed to return to it to become themselves again.
I think it was dope that they fleshed out Billy's character before they explored his sexuality and relationship in Episode 6. That's what made it authentic. He's an awesome character that just happens to be gay. Great series.
Remember, the first time that we see Lilia fall to the ground, she lands alone. Then it switches to a shot of her and Jennifer. I think she lands in the tunnel after the fall in the tower. The initial landing was out of sequence. I don't think it's a continuity error.
On the Billy created the road bit, didn't the door not appear until he came downstairs to get away from the Salem seven? I didn't go back to check so I could be misremembering.
I love this show and all my pals ❤️ I hope Agatha brings back all the fallen witches as the thing she is missing because true power is the pals you made along the way.
People upset because Agatha and Rio didn’t kiss weren’t paying attention. They clearly have a fraught history with issues potentially stemming from the loss of Agatha’s son. They had achieved some renewed intimacy but Rio rightly chose not to move forward without having Agatha understand the nature her relationship to the boy she was clearly forming an attachment to. She seems to really care for Agatha and didn’t want to restart something with a potential pitfall. That seemed like a genuine depiction of an interaction between two ex-lovers - who are both women. It looks like upcoming episodes will include Agatha and Rio’s backstory, which should include moments between them when they first met and became lovers. Hopefully those will make some complainers more happy.

As to the who is and isn't dead thing, I am somewhat upset that the majority of the major characters in the MCU that have *stayed* dead are all women. Sharon, Alice, Lilia, Aunt May, Natasha, the Ancient One. It is so very frustrating.
The way Jen was propped up, and her longevity in this series leads me to belives she'll either suffer a very permanent death or become a sort of cameo character moving forward, shall she survive.
Alsooo: we don’t see Lilia being reborn or in the afterlife at the end of her episode. The point is that since she lives her life out of order, the moment of her death might be the end of her lifeline but Lilia’s consciousness is still jumping around/she hasn’t finished the end of her conscious experience. I believe the end of the episode meant that Lilia experienced the moment of her death right before her first lesson in witchcraft.
Agatha keeps saying "The road changes for the coven". I have been sure that she has never walked the Road before, well, until recently. I think the Road "changes for the coven" because it is actually created BY the coven. It's the reason you need a coven to "open" it in the first place. Agatha is famous for "murdering" her original coven. But as Rio pointed out, it was actually self-defense, and really, it was her MOTHER'S coven. She was the leader (had the pretty crown to prove it too!). What if the coven Agatha "murdered" was one that no one knew about? One SHE led. That opened the Road, that she betrayed. That she killed on the Road, and then left behind for Rio. I suspect (trailer spoilers?) we may get a look at these events in the next episode. The reason Agatha seems so unsure and surprised by THIS Road is that this coven is actually BILLY'S. If the Road's nature and appearance is created by the combined powers and minds of the members of each coven, then Agatha would have expected it to be strongly shaped by HER. That's what happened last time, after all, and we know Agatha is "exceptional". But Billy is, or will become, The Demiurge, or if not, he is at least the son of the Scarlet Witch, and a very powerful reality shaper in his own right. As for his force of will, he has spent the last three years literally constructing his entire being (mind and personality) from the clues left behind by William Kaplan (his books, posters, toys etc.) and what he has read in the minds of Jeff and Rebecca. Agatha was disconcerted because not only did she not recognize most of what she saw, but she had to note that someone in the coven was stronger, more powerful, more "exceptional" than she. As for Marvel dying vs staying dead... Perhaps the solution might be to ASK the people involved? Perhaps Rio agrees to bring back anyone who wants to come back, but only if Agatha agrees to come with her in their place. (Bargain! three, or maybe four if Jen gets killed too, for the price of one?) I suspect Lilia will refuse, as will Mrs. Davis ("Oh I can't dear. Mr. Davis and I are going bowling with Dom Perignon and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. She has a new tip on azalea care she's promised to share, and the Abbot is bringing his newest vintage for us to try!" Jennifer would say yes, and maybe Alice too? It resolves the issues without cheapening the deaths and makes it harder to repeat too often.
The brief conversation about queer representation and veing more accepting of male gay relationships is really interesting to me as a gay man. Ive herd it go bot ways and i definitely think it depends on the form and genre of media. It is true that in the brief history of "positive queer representation", gay and bi men have been been more represented in comedies and "feel good" movies and tv shows like Glee, Will and Grace, heartstopper (although it does a good job at reprenting a wide variety of queer characters), Love Simon, Red white and Royal Blue, meanwhile, when you look at animation and action movies, queer representation often focuses on gay and bi women. Shows like Arcane, Velma, Scooby doo, Ark: the animated series, Andor, Acolyte, Harley Quinn, the dragin prince, light year, Steven universe. On both sides there are obviously exceptions but different genres and mediums tend to favor specific parts of the queer comunity. The problem with this us that queer individuals dont get to see representations of themselves in a variety of different generas but an oversaturation of representation of a single genre. For example gay men dont really get any cool action heros or super heros or anime heros to look up to and relate to. And theres also this weird trend with popular media only reprenting one subsection of queerness. So many shows and movies will only have gay male representation or only have lesbian representation as if having multiple groups of queer representation would make the show "too woke". Its great seeing shows like Agatha and Heartstopper stopper starting to better represent the queer community. Theres still a really long way to go but it is a good first step.
Agreed! And in recent years, bi / lesbian / queer / pan / etc… women have been much more represented than they have historically. And it’s def a more nuanced convo than what I briefly touched on in the podcast - because although a lot of early portrayals of gay men were initially much more frequent than portrayals of gay women, those portrayals were VERY often shitty, stereotypical, or harmful. So it’s not necessarily a “good” thing that gay men were slightly more featured than gay women in media back in the day, because 70% of the time, gayness was the butt of the joke. Or it was the “gay best friend” trope that had zero substance or truth behind it. 🙃 BUT I definitely agree that in recent years, we’ve gotten a lot more positive queer representation in shows & movies, and that it’s gotten SO much better for queer men, women, and non binary folks!!!! Still not perfect obviously lololol but you’re right that we’ve been blessed with dope queer characters of all genders in recent years!!!!!! ❤🤘🏻 Highly recommend Owl House if you want to watch another gay witch show after this one!!!!
Theory: The road gives you whats missing then kills you. Alice got rid of her curse then died Lilia got her coven then died Jen didnt get her powers back so she hasnt died yet Agatha has also not received her “prize” Agatha beat the road last time because she got the darkhold and used it to shield herself from death. Thats why she was the only one from her coven to make it out last time.

If we keep in mind when Billy throws Lilia and Jen and Agatha into the mud, they don't die like what might've happened to Mrs. Hart! In my mind, I think that's because he didn't really want them dead and he was just emotional- so that's why they just sunk underground... Or maybe the Witches' Road was more forgiving because they were thrown in by one of their own coven and not a trial?
I’m pretty sure Jen is going to survive and Agatha is going to die. They made Jen so likable and there must be a reason for that. I also think Alice’s death was earned-we needed to see Agatha live up to her shitty reputation of killing ppl + we needed a moment where Billy reveals his powers via emotional outburst (like his mom). At that mid season point Alice was the most likable + the one that had formed with Billy, and since the show is tragic frequently Alice had to go. I’m also pretty sure that none of the witches manifested the road individually. How would anyone other than Lilia know sooo many details abt everyone else’s worst fears + backstories? It couldn’t be Billy bc Agatha chose the witches & I doubt that Billy knows everything about every witch in the area. Agatha wouldn’t have chosen the road bc she needs it to get her powers back/there’s no motive for her to do so, and she wasn’t even sure if Lilia was legit. I suppose it could be Rio, but I HIGHLY doubt that someone as inventive as Jac would repeat the core plot of WandaVision.
Re: Agatha dying: it’s her karma, but also a bit tragic bc we’ve seen she can’t control being evil. It’s also waaaay more epic than Jen dying-and the end of the season needs to be epic (and we know it can’t be Billy bc obviously they’re setting up young avengers). Also, let’s not forget that the *the thesis* of that story is that all the characters had their desired abilities in them all along-not that the wizard was a fraud. Pretty sure this will apply to Jen bc she was « bound without magic. » so those men likely got in her head and convinced her she was powerless even tho she’s not-on point w the feminist pathos and ethos of the show.
In the first episode Agatha said Rio wasn’t allowed to kill. Now, that read different when we thought she was Black Heart or Morgan La Fey. Agatha said absorbing Rio’s power would kill her. We thought she and Agatha had a pact that prevented them from killing each other. What if Rio, as Death, is forbidden from killing anyone? That she can only collect the dead but not cause death.
What the subway scene means to me that either two things are true . Either this is indeed Billy’s hex to get the knowledge from more experienced witches how to get Tommy in Wanda fashion as he was able to eject them from his hex back into westview subway after the unalive of a coven member by Agatha out of protection subconsciously or Billy is so powerful that he could overrule the witches realm rules and eject people from the realm which seems to only have to exist , which is unalive or completing the road.

When lilia and Jen were walking through the tunnels Jen mentioned passing a subway and there was an actual train in the fork in the road. Sharon said there was a failed transit system below so that has to be where they were at. This proves that this is a hex/illision created by more than likely billy.

What if the 'Wizard' at the end of the Witch's Road is William Kaplan, the other half of Billy Maximoff? Meaning the William that would have been if the crash didn't happen. If the Witches road is all a construct of Billy's mind. The conclusion could be the choice of Billy. Be restored as Kaplan and go back to his 'normal' life with a Mom and Dad and a boyfriend. A typical 'normal' life. The life he was always meant to have before the Hex and the Scarlet Witch. Or continue on as Maximoff with his powers and be trapped wandering the Multi-Verse for his brother, Tommy. Doomed to be following his mother's mad quest and likely never having a peaceful life away from CHAOS. Knowing for the next stage of the MCU he is going to go down the road of CHAOS. Agatha could try to talk him out of it. If he chooses Kaplan, all the death could be undone. Rio could even tell Billy that she knows Tommy is dead in this Universe; and her telling Billy that could be what makes him snap, use his powers and condemn himself to Maximoff and the Multi-Verse.
Great reactions everyone. Technically 3 of the Salem Seven can fly--Cicadas, Crow, and Owl. I think it works better to let badass Lilia take them out as that gives her death even more meaning. Plus, Rio is clearly the final big bad so we don't need them for this story.
i think a key moment of the ep is when she says...when a witch stays to long after completing the trial...bad things can happen...maybe implying that magic rules change allowing any witch to die...and even if she didnt let go at the end...she would have died
my thinking on the deaths up until this point is sadness bc jac schafer did an interview recently and said every death you saw, happened and that character is dead. now, you could take it several ways, we didnt see lillia hit the swords. but that was a long fall for anyone to survive, let alone a character of lillias age. also if they brought her back it cheapens her sacrifice. also we dont know when she saw the vision of agathas impending doom but agatha did save lillia from the falling sword so shes just returning the favor.
First of all, the Salem 7 bugs are not sweet, innocent bees, but loud, obnoxious cicadas. Don’t defile my bee-loved bees like that. Second, I like that hex theory with Billy as the Wizard at the end. Third, I know there’ll be a final showdown with Rio, but I think Mephisto might also make an appearance. (Mostly because the Marvel Puzzle Quest game added him recently and it can’t be a coincidence.) Lastly, why hasn’t there been more coven representation at Disneyland? I know Agatha appears at the Halloween party, but we want more! I volunteer to be Mrs. Hart. 😂
The Salem Seven served their purpose, they added a very creepy element and gave a couple of good jump scares and kept the coven on the run. Death is the real villain and she is definitely after Agatha and Billy.

Jennifer Kale will NOT die. It has already been said a few times she *_she is the future,_* which clearly lets us know she will make it. Jennifer is also my favorite of the witches. Sasheer Zamata has done a phenomenal job with the character, and I particularly love her arc in Lilia's episode. We see Jenn stop being heartless, and instead truly become a sister in the craft. It was beautiful. Rio is definitely the villain of this season, but make no mistake, the Salem Seven is not done yet. We saw FIVE of them die. The two we didn't see die are the two who have flying animal powers. I don't think we've seen the last of those two. They will be back. [edit to add: I never saw that variety article, so now I'm sad that we won't see the Salem Two!] Also, as for people dying and remaining dead, I saw a comment a month ago somewhere that read, *"If you're in the MCU, either you're Uncle Ben, or you're immortal."* 🤣😅😆

The Salem Seven member is not spitting out bees, it’s cicadas. This Salem seven member is the leader and her name is Vertigo. She’s the only Salem Seven member with a name in the credits. A cicada was also shown in the last episode of WV when Wanda is sitting on Agatha’s couch.
Not bees. Cicadas. Two birds (the crow and owl) and the cicadas. I think the Salem SEVEN are done and I think it was good to thin the herd a bit so the finale wasn't too crowded. But I think at least one of them survived - specifically the Cicadas (Vertigo) because she is the only member of the Salem Seven in the main credits. Whether there is another surviving member or not - to be determined.
@@rvds2040 there’s been a few (Winter Soldier, Vision, Black Panther (in his own movie no less), everyone who was dusted in Infinity War, etc). But overall they do this a TON of times in the comics so it’s not too much of a stretch to say they’ll probably continue to do so in the MCU. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think the writers have the answer to the Wizard of Oz question right in front of us. Lilia refers to Billy as The Wizard. And has anyone questioned why the show is called Agatha All Along? I think it is more than a carryover from WandaVision. I think Agatha, strange is in may sound, is our Dorthy in the story. She is the one who has to Go up against the Green Witch, Rio. Lilia is Glinda, Jen is the Scarecrow who used her knowledge; Alice was the Lion who was brave and courageous, Billy will be the Tinman who will show is heart and help Agatha "find her way home".
it could be that the road was agatha's con to steal powers for centures. billy bought it but his innate powers willed it into reality just like wanda did with westview. and agatha plays along because she sees this as an opportunity for her to bring back her son's soul somehow because billy's soul becomes real despite being created in a reality hex. so i think the title agatha all along makes sense. she exploited and pulled the strings knowing billy subconsciously will manifest things and she needs to prod him along in the right direction just like she did with wanda :)

THEORY: when Agatha and Rio are fighting in episode one or two and both say you can't kill me. Now Death saying you can't kill me makes sense. Why can't death come for Agatha? What is keeping death at bay?? Maybe Agatha has avoided death so many times thats why death is preoccupied with Agatha?
I think Jen lives.... its kinda like her thing-survival Also with their being an exit on the road mid-way through... what if Agatha did walk the road & didn't complete it?? Perhaps even avoiding her own trial like she tried this time around
The best part about the lgbt representation in this show is that i havent seen anyone call it "woke" on the internet yet. So thats pretty cool. Not saying its not happening, but some of the prominent critics of Marvel properties recently haven't said much about them being so nonchalant.
another reaction channel loved the fact that the show had reached the Stage of "casual queerness". My take on "The 8 Stages of LGBTQ+ Representation": 1. Erasure 2. Hostility 3. Stereotyping/Caricature 4. Allowed (but they have to die, hate themselves or have bad things happen) 5. Lip Service 6. Queer Baiting 7. Inclusion (but we have to keep pointing it out to show how progressive we are) 8. Casual Queerness (this is character A's issues and story. She's a spy who needs to save the world and is a total badass... oh, and she has a wife, but that's not really central to this story and we only learn that when she calls her to warn she'll be late for their son's school play and "Can you tape the first act for me love, I have a bomb to defuse?")
If lilia's journey has to come to an end then I suppose I can find peace in that. However I'm not so sure it is as you specified she was mentioning things that had in the future plus the last scene that we saw was her going back to a lesson as a child eager to learn and not returning to the scene with death in the subway, and instead of joining the rest of her original coven in some capacity it returns lilia to another lesson with her teacher and I think lilia is about to learn that she can't always be the one in control and sometimes must trust her coven I don't know (the same way doctor strange did). And she will also learn that she is no longer correct about what she knows in regards to time being an illusion because as we saw and loki that was once true but is no longer the case and even by lilia intervening she is creating branches in that multiverse herself. I also notice in the second episode when agatha was recruiting the coven lilio was offended because agatha underestimated her age at 415 until agatha corrected and said 450 so in the witch world I believe more years is more to brag about however when lilia first rejoins her teacher at the beginning of the episode tells her how long it's been, her teacher responds with it's been a long time...... For you. Almost like her teacher was hinting they have seen like a long time but it was only just a phase. As far as the witches rd I believe it is real and it was constructed by each of the witches involved customarily curating the design to the coven as specified however I think it is by billy simply due to his already immense level of power and enthusiasm for the witch's world. But I wonder who built the coven and helped lead to the events of them going down the witches rd to begin with, I think it was automatically implied that rio was responsible for the subsequent events because she want to capitalize on a coven full of powerful survivors or as a way to endear to of enchant agatha. I wonder if someone else such as wanda maximoff or even god of stories loki had something to do with this coven coming together when they did and possibly assisting with the lifting of the spell, I also could not help drawing a correlation to the yellow vines of lilia's trial with the gold embedded within the throne of lokis

@@wefmn I am not sure if cicadas are hive minded or have the same sense of communication. Also, not sure Jac or anyone there had the fairly deep lore of the Salem Seven when they did WandaVision. Though Vertigo tends to be the most significant member since in the comics she can't transform. So she has the most dialog.

I'm not sure they're leaning into comic lore so heavily in this series concerning the Salem seven, we'll see if it comes up this week in the finale, but it's been listed in multiple outlets that the "big" witch of the Salem seven is producing cicadas. I don't really know much about real life cicadas and whether they're hive minded, but I don't think that has much to do with this show. The coven of the Salem seven are hive minded as stated by (I think) lillia. My only point was it's very clear across all other channels I'm watching that her animal ego is cicadas and this team seems to be missing out on that haha shows a lack of research to me, but no hate to you or the channel!

Theres a new theory that states that the Witches Road is a legend that Agatha made up to gather witches to her so she could eat their magic. Then Billy came along and ended up creating the witches road, Agatha has been shocked and surprised of everything that has been happening.
I like this theory. Wpuld explain why she isn't too worried about the road in ep 2. And she just wants to coax them into blasting her. Then when the door opens she's surprised.
I wasn’t excited when they first announced the Agatha show, eye rolled…but was so so so hyped for Secret Invasion…and man, my expectations were totally reversed. Agatha is SO GOOD
I'm pretty sure Agatha has never been on the road. When the doors appear in ep 2 she looks more surprised than anyone. She just wanted to steal their magic. I think Billy manifested it subconsciously like Wanda did with the Hex, that's the "tell" that Agatha was referring to.
To me, Lilia sacrificing herself at the end of her trial was her way of saying, "I'm done running, and your bullshit ends NOW," re: the Salem Seven.
Agatha originally wrote the ballad of the witches road and she would lure other witches offering to let them walk it only to steal their powers. The road they're currently walking is a false reality subconsciously created by Billy and Agatha is playing along.
I like this idea, though I think the song is actually a metaphor for the life of every witch. So you could say that every witch walks the witches road. Jen and Lilia were hiding from their power so they had left the road and needed to return to it to become themselves again.
I think it was dope that they fleshed out Billy's character before they explored his sexuality and relationship in Episode 6. That's what made it authentic. He's an awesome character that just happens to be gay. Great series.

Remember, the first time that we see Lilia fall to the ground, she lands alone. Then it switches to a shot of her and Jennifer. I think she lands in the tunnel after the fall in the tower. The initial landing was out of sequence. I don't think it's a continuity error.

I love this show and all my pals ❤️ I hope Agatha brings back all the fallen witches as the thing she is missing because true power is the pals you made along the way.
People upset because Agatha and Rio didn’t kiss weren’t paying attention. They clearly have a fraught history with issues potentially stemming from the loss of Agatha’s son. They had achieved some renewed intimacy but Rio rightly chose not to move forward without having Agatha understand the nature her relationship to the boy she was clearly forming an attachment to. She seems to really care for Agatha and didn’t want to restart something with a potential pitfall. That seemed like a genuine depiction of an interaction between two ex-lovers - who are both women.
It looks like upcoming episodes will include Agatha and Rio’s backstory, which should include moments between them when they first met and became lovers. Hopefully those will make some complainers more happy.

As to the who is and isn't dead thing, I am somewhat upset that the majority of the major characters in the MCU that have *stayed* dead are all women. Sharon, Alice, Lilia, Aunt May, Natasha, the Ancient One. It is so very frustrating.
The way Jen was propped up, and her longevity in this series leads me to belives she'll either suffer a very permanent death or become a sort of cameo character moving forward, shall she survive.
Alsooo: we don’t see Lilia being reborn or in the afterlife at the end of her episode. The point is that since she lives her life out of order, the moment of her death might be the end of her lifeline but Lilia’s consciousness is still jumping around/she hasn’t finished the end of her conscious experience. I believe the end of the episode meant that Lilia experienced the moment of her death right before her first lesson in witchcraft.

Agatha keeps saying "The road changes for the coven". I have been sure that she has never walked the Road before, well, until recently. I think the Road "changes for the coven" because it is actually created BY the coven. It's the reason you need a coven to "open" it in the first place.
Agatha is famous for "murdering" her original coven. But as Rio pointed out, it was actually self-defense, and really, it was her MOTHER'S coven. She was the leader (had the pretty crown to prove it too!).
What if the coven Agatha "murdered" was one that no one knew about? One SHE led. That opened the Road, that she betrayed. That she killed on the Road, and then left behind for Rio. I suspect (trailer spoilers?) we may get a look at these events in the next episode.
The reason Agatha seems so unsure and surprised by THIS Road is that this coven is actually BILLY'S. If the Road's nature and appearance is created by the combined powers and minds of the members of each coven, then Agatha would have expected it to be strongly shaped by HER. That's what happened last time, after all, and we know Agatha is "exceptional". But Billy is, or will become, The Demiurge, or if not, he is at least the son of the Scarlet Witch, and a very powerful reality shaper in his own right. As for his force of will, he has spent the last three years literally constructing his entire being (mind and personality) from the clues left behind by William Kaplan (his books, posters, toys etc.) and what he has read in the minds of Jeff and Rebecca. Agatha was disconcerted because not only did she not recognize most of what she saw, but she had to note that someone in the coven was stronger, more powerful, more "exceptional" than she.
As for Marvel dying vs staying dead...
Perhaps the solution might be to ASK the people involved? Perhaps Rio agrees to bring back anyone who wants to come back, but only if Agatha agrees to come with her in their place. (Bargain! three, or maybe four if Jen gets killed too, for the price of one?) I suspect Lilia will refuse, as will Mrs. Davis ("Oh I can't dear. Mr. Davis and I are going bowling with Dom Perignon and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. She has a new tip on azalea care she's promised to share, and the Abbot is bringing his newest vintage for us to try!" Jennifer would say yes, and maybe Alice too?
It resolves the issues without cheapening the deaths and makes it harder to repeat too often.
Could it be that they aren't really dying, but the death of Ego; now that they have conquered their biggest fears?
The brief conversation about queer representation and veing more accepting of male gay relationships is really interesting to me as a gay man. Ive herd it go bot ways and i definitely think it depends on the form and genre of media. It is true that in the brief history of "positive queer representation", gay and bi men have been been more represented in comedies and "feel good" movies and tv shows like Glee, Will and Grace, heartstopper (although it does a good job at reprenting a wide variety of queer characters), Love Simon, Red white and Royal Blue, meanwhile, when you look at animation and action movies, queer representation often focuses on gay and bi women. Shows like Arcane, Velma, Scooby doo, Ark: the animated series, Andor, Acolyte, Harley Quinn, the dragin prince, light year, Steven universe. On both sides there are obviously exceptions but different genres and mediums tend to favor specific parts of the queer comunity. The problem with this us that queer individuals dont get to see representations of themselves in a variety of different generas but an oversaturation of representation of a single genre. For example gay men dont really get any cool action heros or super heros or anime heros to look up to and relate to. And theres also this weird trend with popular media only reprenting one subsection of queerness. So many shows and movies will only have gay male representation or only have lesbian representation as if having multiple groups of queer representation would make the show "too woke". Its great seeing shows like Agatha and Heartstopper stopper starting to better represent the queer community. Theres still a really long way to go but it is a good first step.
Agreed! And in recent years, bi / lesbian / queer / pan / etc… women have been much more represented than they have historically. And it’s def a more nuanced convo than what I briefly touched on in the podcast - because although a lot of early portrayals of gay men were initially much more frequent than portrayals of gay women, those portrayals were VERY often shitty, stereotypical, or harmful. So it’s not necessarily a “good” thing that gay men were slightly more featured than gay women in media back in the day, because 70% of the time, gayness was the butt of the joke. Or it was the “gay best friend” trope that had zero substance or truth behind it. 🙃
BUT I definitely agree that in recent years, we’ve gotten a lot more positive queer representation in shows & movies, and that it’s gotten SO much better for queer men, women, and non binary folks!!!! Still not perfect obviously lololol but you’re right that we’ve been blessed with dope queer characters of all genders in recent years!!!!!! ❤🤘🏻

If we keep in mind when Billy throws Lilia and Jen and Agatha into the mud, they don't die like what might've happened to Mrs. Hart! In my mind, I think that's because he didn't really want them dead and he was just emotional- so that's why they just sunk underground... Or maybe the Witches' Road was more forgiving because they were thrown in by one of their own coven and not a trial?

I’m pretty sure Jen is going to survive and Agatha is going to die. They made Jen so likable and there must be a reason for that. I also think Alice’s death was earned-we needed to see Agatha live up to her shitty reputation of killing ppl + we needed a moment where Billy reveals his powers via emotional outburst (like his mom). At that mid season point Alice was the most likable + the one that had formed with Billy, and since the show is tragic frequently Alice had to go.
I’m also pretty sure that none of the witches manifested the road individually. How would anyone other than Lilia know sooo many details abt everyone else’s worst fears + backstories? It couldn’t be Billy bc Agatha chose the witches & I doubt that Billy knows everything about every witch in the area. Agatha wouldn’t have chosen the road bc she needs it to get her powers back/there’s no motive for her to do so, and she wasn’t even sure if Lilia was legit. I suppose it could be Rio, but I HIGHLY doubt that someone as inventive as Jac would repeat the core plot of WandaVision.
Re: Agatha dying: it’s her karma, but also a bit tragic bc we’ve seen she can’t control being evil. It’s also waaaay more epic than Jen dying-and the end of the season needs to be epic (and we know it can’t be Billy bc obviously they’re setting up young avengers).
Also, let’s not forget that the *the thesis* of that story is that all the characters had their desired abilities in them all along-not that the wizard was a fraud. Pretty sure this will apply to Jen bc she was « bound without magic. » so those men likely got in her head and convinced her she was powerless even tho she’s not-on point w the feminist pathos and ethos of the show.
In the first episode Agatha said Rio wasn’t allowed to kill. Now, that read different when we thought she was Black Heart or Morgan La Fey. Agatha said absorbing Rio’s power would kill her. We thought she and Agatha had a pact that prevented them from killing each other. What if Rio, as Death, is forbidden from killing anyone? That she can only collect the dead but not cause death.

What the subway scene means to me that either two things are true . Either this is indeed Billy’s hex to get the knowledge from more experienced witches how to get Tommy in Wanda fashion as he was able to eject them from his hex back into westview subway after the unalive of a coven member by Agatha out of protection subconsciously or Billy is so powerful that he could overrule the witches realm rules and eject people from the realm which seems to only have to exist , which is unalive or completing the road.

When lilia and Jen were walking through the tunnels Jen mentioned passing a subway and there was an actual train in the fork in the road. Sharon said there was a failed transit system below so that has to be where they were at. This proves that this is a hex/illision created by more than likely billy.

What if the 'Wizard' at the end of the Witch's Road is William Kaplan, the other half of Billy Maximoff? Meaning the William that would have been if the crash didn't happen.
If the Witches road is all a construct of Billy's mind. The conclusion could be the choice of Billy. Be restored as Kaplan and go back to his 'normal' life with a Mom and Dad and a boyfriend. A typical 'normal' life. The life he was always meant to have before the Hex and the Scarlet Witch.
Or continue on as Maximoff with his powers and be trapped wandering the Multi-Verse for his brother, Tommy. Doomed to be following his mother's mad quest and likely never having a peaceful life away from CHAOS.
Knowing for the next stage of the MCU he is going to go down the road of CHAOS. Agatha could try to talk him out of it. If he chooses Kaplan, all the death could be undone. Rio could even tell Billy that she knows Tommy is dead in this Universe; and her telling Billy that could be what makes him snap, use his powers and condemn himself to Maximoff and the Multi-Verse.

Great reactions everyone. Technically 3 of the Salem Seven can fly--Cicadas, Crow, and Owl. I think it works better to let badass Lilia take them out as that gives her death even more meaning. Plus, Rio is clearly the final big bad so we don't need them for this story.
i think a key moment of the ep is when she says...when a witch stays to long after completing the trial...bad things can happen...maybe implying that magic rules change allowing any witch to die...and even if she didnt let go at the end...she would have died
my thinking on the deaths up until this point is sadness bc jac schafer did an interview recently and said every death you saw, happened and that character is dead. now, you could take it several ways, we didnt see lillia hit the swords. but that was a long fall for anyone to survive, let alone a character of lillias age. also if they brought her back it cheapens her sacrifice. also we dont know when she saw the vision of agathas impending doom but agatha did save lillia from the falling sword so shes just returning the favor.

First of all, the Salem 7 bugs are not sweet, innocent bees, but loud, obnoxious cicadas. Don’t defile my bee-loved bees like that. Second, I like that hex theory with Billy as the Wizard at the end. Third, I know there’ll be a final showdown with Rio, but I think Mephisto might also make an appearance. (Mostly because the Marvel Puzzle Quest game added him recently and it can’t be a coincidence.) Lastly, why hasn’t there been more coven representation at Disneyland? I know Agatha appears at the Halloween party, but we want more! I volunteer to be Mrs. Hart. 😂

The Salem Seven served their purpose, they added a very creepy element and gave a couple of good jump scares and kept the coven on the run. Death is the real villain and she is definitely after Agatha and Billy.

Jennifer Kale will NOT die. It has already been said a few times she *_she is the future,_* which clearly lets us know she will make it. Jennifer is also my favorite of the witches. Sasheer Zamata has done a phenomenal job with the character, and I particularly love her arc in Lilia's episode. We see Jenn stop being heartless, and instead truly become a sister in the craft. It was beautiful.
Rio is definitely the villain of this season, but make no mistake, the Salem Seven is not done yet. We saw FIVE of them die. The two we didn't see die are the two who have flying animal powers. I don't think we've seen the last of those two. They will be back. [edit to add: I never saw that variety article, so now I'm sad that we won't see the Salem Two!]
Also, as for people dying and remaining dead, I saw a comment a month ago somewhere that read, *"If you're in the MCU, either you're Uncle Ben, or you're immortal."* 🤣😅😆

The Salem Seven member is not spitting out bees, it’s cicadas. This Salem seven member is the leader and her name is Vertigo. She’s the only Salem Seven member with a name in the credits. A cicada was also shown in the last episode of WV when Wanda is sitting on Agatha’s couch.

I think the Salem SEVEN are done and I think it was good to thin the herd a bit so the finale wasn't too crowded. But I think at least one of them survived - specifically the Cicadas (Vertigo) because she is the only member of the Salem Seven in the main credits. Whether there is another surviving member or not - to be determined.

@@rvds2040 there’s been a few (Winter Soldier, Vision, Black Panther (in his own movie no less), everyone who was dusted in Infinity War, etc). But overall they do this a TON of times in the comics so it’s not too much of a stretch to say they’ll probably continue to do so in the MCU. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think the writers have the answer to the Wizard of Oz question right in front of us. Lilia refers to Billy as The Wizard. And has anyone questioned why the show is called Agatha All Along? I think it is more than a carryover from WandaVision. I think Agatha, strange is in may sound, is our Dorthy in the story. She is the one who has to Go up against the Green Witch, Rio. Lilia is Glinda, Jen is the Scarecrow who used her knowledge; Alice was the Lion who was brave and courageous, Billy will be the Tinman who will show is heart and help Agatha "find her way home".

it could be that the road was agatha's con to steal powers for centures. billy bought it but his innate powers willed it into reality just like wanda did with westview. and agatha plays along because she sees this as an opportunity for her to bring back her son's soul somehow because billy's soul becomes real despite being created in a reality hex. so i think the title agatha all along makes sense. she exploited and pulled the strings knowing billy subconsciously will manifest things and she needs to prod him along in the right direction just like she did with wanda :)

The best part about the lgbt representation in this show is that i havent seen anyone call it "woke" on the internet yet. So thats pretty cool. Not saying its not happening, but some of the prominent critics of Marvel properties recently haven't said much about them being so nonchalant.

She's a spy who needs to save the world and is a total badass... oh, and she has a wife, but that's not really central to this story and we only learn that when she calls her to warn she'll be late for their son's school play and "Can you tape the first act for me love, I have a bomb to defuse?")
If lilia's journey has to come to an end then I suppose I can find peace in that. However I'm not so sure it is as you specified she was mentioning things that had in the future plus the last scene that we saw was her going back to a lesson as a child eager to learn and not returning to the scene with death in the subway, and instead of joining the rest of her original coven in some capacity it returns lilia to another lesson with her teacher and I think lilia is about to learn that she can't always be the one in control and sometimes must trust her coven I don't know (the same way doctor strange did). And she will also learn that she is no longer correct about what she knows in regards to time being an illusion because as we saw and loki that was once true but is no longer the case and even by lilia intervening she is creating branches in that multiverse herself. I also notice in the second episode when agatha was recruiting the coven lilio was offended because agatha underestimated her age at 415 until agatha corrected and said 450 so in the witch world I believe more years is more to brag about however when lilia first rejoins her teacher at the beginning of the episode tells her how long it's been, her teacher responds with it's been a long time...... For you. Almost like her teacher was hinting they have seen like a long time but it was only just a phase.
As far as the witches rd I believe it is real and it was constructed by each of the witches involved customarily curating the design to the coven as specified however I think it is by billy simply due to his already immense level of power and enthusiasm for the witch's world. But I wonder who built the coven and helped lead to the events of them going down the witches rd to begin with, I think it was automatically implied that rio was responsible for the subsequent events because she want to capitalize on a coven full of powerful survivors or as a way to endear to of enchant agatha. I wonder if someone else such as wanda maximoff or even god of stories loki had something to do with this coven coming together when they did and possibly assisting with the lifting of the spell, I also could not help drawing a correlation to the yellow vines of lilia's trial with the gold embedded within the throne of lokis
