One other thing. People keep assuming there is a prize at the end of the road that you get to name. But when Teen first talks about it, he mentions getting what you need but also "what you are missing". There is every reason to believe you dont get to choose your prize. That is a misunderstanding by people. Much like Wizard of Oz, you gain what you are missing on the journey, and at best only fully realize it at the end.
Rio was absent during Alice dying (framed out of scenes) and also never emerged from the trial but instead stayed behind with the body. They brought Mrs. Hart's body to bury but not Alice. Not sure of the implication but thought was noteworthy. I think Agatha lured everyone onward so Rio could be alone with it.
Lilia in the future, flashing back to the the sleepover: "Alice don't!" Alice in the music studio: "Don't what?" Lilia at the beach house: "Try to save Agatha." Lilia back in the future: "Well, that was pointless."
Am I wrong in thinking the Ouija board being for ages 3&up is in reference to Teen only being 3y/o since he was created by Wanda just over 3 years ago?
I’m pretty convinced it was actually BILLY’s trial, and not Rio or Agatha’s. Because the trial ends when HE finishes the interaction with the Ouija board and says “Goodbye” to end the trial. And also, as pointed out elsewhere, when they finished Jennifer’s trial, she regains her powers and cures Billy’s wound ON THE ROAD (where they were supposed to not have powers), then after Alice confronts her curse she also regains her powers, and after this one, Billy unlocks his own.
There's a perfect reason for the writers to pull a switcheroo on whose trial this actually was & it's all the evidence I need to believe this wasn't Agatha's Trial, but rather Billy's. For one, Billy was really the one who had to give up something here. Because he could say the name Nicholas Scratch it revealed that he wasn't Agatha's son. If that was his true identity the sigil would have not allowed the other witches to hear him shout it. Assuming he's been playing dumb and the sigil was part of his plan to trick Agatha into thinking he may be her kid The Road would likely force him to shed that deception as part of his trial. But more importantly, this way the final two episodes can be Agatha's trial, she's the title character after all. But it can still be a surprise/ep 7 cliff hanger when we find out she still has her own trial ahead since we've been led to believe her trial is over - Waaaaay too long comment over -
The leaves outside always match the elemental trial. Blue before water, and orange before fire. The leaves outside in episode five are purple, for spirit. It really was Agatha's trial.
@@SethRGray Points to your comment due to Agatha being always associated with purple but I still think it was more likely Billy's. If it was Agatha's trial, did she pass?
i thought the broom sequence was great. both patti lupone and aubrey plaza really seem to be having the best time during this whole production. yes, also kathryn hahn. the TENSION! yes, it is so thick and so hot. i think we can all agree f*** evanora harkness. prune baby!! i absolutely think lilia's visions are coming in pieces and all out of order. there was one were she just screamed, the one in front of alice where she asked about being waspy or kookie. can't wait to see how they tie it all together. i can't decide if they have actually left the road or not. we never actually saw what happened to rio, and i think she could pull them out of the goo. i never read the witches road comic, was there a "final boss" or whatever? that would def make sense.
@marjoe32 teen and alice discussed the puberty related onset of their magical powers in episode 3, i believe. His power boost that we saw in episode 5 wasnt due to puberty. His boost could be from the trials' completion (consistent with lorna getting fire powers after her trial) or it could be wanda-like emotion-based magic, suggesting he was using chaos magic to control ppl (like wanda did during the hex). Personally, i think its wanada based emotion power. When did wanda get her crown? Was she similarly stressed? There are too many parallels for it to be anything but imo
@andyrobinson8966 he is, which so dumb! His mother isnt a mutant, his biological parents (the kaplans) arent mutants, yet hes a mutant? His spontaneous evolution is a plot device so he can join x men stories 😂 but in the MCU, I dont think they have any reason to make him a mutant.
I can't see how it's not Agatha's trial because the leaves always match their elemental correspondences. The leaves were blue when they first joined the road because the first trial was water. Then red leaves led to Alice's fire trial. The leaves leading up to the next trial are purple, for spirit. The elemental colors always match. It really was Agatha's trial. Now, whether or not it actually HAPPENED, is another matter. Given the start of the episode was a premonition, coupled with the fact the aspect ratio didn't change from road to trial like the other episodes, it may be this whole episode is a flash forward. Also, Lillia is air because air is the element of transmission, communication, and intellect. Her divination seems to be communicating with herself back and forth through time, which makes sense for an air witch. There are divinatory practices using every element, however.
I think Agatha's mom was manipulating the situation a bit too! I don't think Agatha would have attracted if her mother hadn't possess her, causing one of the other's to attack. Knowing that Agatha's defensive power is to steel the power of whom ever blast her with their power! Who knows! Her mother could have manipulated the entire coven into killing Agatha the first time, not realizing how powerful Agatha really was!!! I don't think it's as cut and dry as it seems! You can see that she felt remorse for what she did to Alice.
I assumed when Lilia said "I hated this the first time!" she was talking about the time in the second episode when the lights flashed, she screamed, and wrote names on a brochure.
I think it’s also important to think about how this series starts. Like, why does it all happen when it happens? I think it’s because Agatha’s body shows up, Billy/Wicken shows up and Rio shows up and the Salem 7 show up. I think all these people showing up at once is really gonna be what the show is about. Why did they all happen to go to Agatha’s at the same time? That could only be for one reason and that’s Wanda, and maybe more specifically her body… just a thought
I can't wait to see what happens 2 seconds after the ending when Teen is feeling high and mighty only to be incredibly humbled when Rio comes up and sees what happened.
26:46 no because like we’ve actively already been been seeing the premonition in present day like around the campfire when she stopped talking that was when she was saying, I love you guys, which we saw in like two episodes prior and like she just said when she says Alex dough a few episodes of agothat was from episode five so I don’t think that it all comes back together in the end
Well now I'm imagining they all end up coming back to West View through Sharon's garden ... she's just there gardening ... these party witches can't let her have a moment of peace!!
I know this is off topic but you mentioned the Fifth Element and it always amazed me people missed the point of what the Fifth Element was. All the stones had to be activated with their element and Leeloo was activated with love but I think that’s because the fifth element was the soul and love is when two souls combine
I don’t know if this has been talked - but the title of this episode is called - darkest hour, wake thy power, and death is usually viewed as a dark hour. So the trial starts with the Ouija board saying death is present. Alice (rip), Billy, and Agatha’s powers were awaken. Was this Rio’s trial? Or is she the trial? Some of the other lyrics include: I hold deaths hand in mine - Rio being on the road is no accident. It may be that her and the road are connected in some way (?). This may be how Agatha first met Rio - during her first foray on the road, and that forged their relationship.
I may be playing devil's advocate, but have you considered maybe Nick's death wasn't nefarious? At certain points in history, kids dying from common childhood illness wasn't unusual. It was tragic but not surprising. It could be what motivated her to get the Dark Hold, to try and bring him back. When that didn't pan out, she went after the power of the Scarlett Witch. Agatha flat out stated she's always hated Jen but she left her alone because her work was important, she was healing children like Nick. She also spared the children of her coven. We don't even know if Nicholas had powers for her to accidentally steal.
Speaking of drugs, It occurs to me that, while I'm not saying it's Sharon's fault that Agatha dragged her into this, she would probably still be alive if she had had consistent street smarts about drug-use on this adventure. In Agatha's basement, her radar flared up IMMEDIATELY when she thought the subject of hallucinogens came up, and she very smartly said a firm "no" to drugs from sketchy strangers, but as soon as she was having a rough day and saw a bottle of _her_ preferred drug (alcohol) she immediately and greedily chugged an entire glass of mystery wine while all the dangerous people were arguing about whether or not they should touch it. If she had drunk it at the same time and pace as the others, she would have been conscious and participating with the potion, so her hair would have gone into it. Her addiction to alcohol and the double-standard normalization of it in society are what got her killed.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Strong agree but alcohol was practically a dessert mint for her generation. Most folks go for the complimentary treat of various cultures and gatherings. Random candy, Strange chip dip, Unattended punch bowls... endless pastabilities - and those people who are most stressed in society are conditioned to be inclined indulge... The quasi-coven is to blame. They keep acting like casuals. LFG 💥🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧙♀️🪫🔋
No longer Adam Driver. More like Adam Chauffeur. ...also, Tony Todd got $2300, $100 per sting. Also it was neither Agatha's trial nor Rio's trial; it was Wiccan's trial. And he passed with fabulous colors. Remember that Agatha taunts him at the beginning when he loses his spellbook that it was time to lose the training wheels, and he did; he was confronted with what witches do and had to choose whether to step up or not. But then he WAS the one to get Agatha out of the Westview hex, so. Also re: emotional struggles, remember Tony's emotional struggle was being kidnapped, tortured and basically the rich kid getting shaken into the reality of what he and his dad's work had been doing. SO yeah, all the MCU heroes generally realize their powers in an emotional revelation moment.
3&up is unusual for Ouija boards so I think that was a reference to him being made by Wanda 3 years ago. Otherwise, the standard 12 and up would have made sense for Teen. If not, why such a throwaway line.
Actually, that's not exactly true. Billy WAS real, but only in the hex. It's made clear Wanda didn't have enough control, that everything in the hex was tied together. Like, Agatha says something like "you've tied them to this world", but for some reason it never occurs to Wanda to try to create the boys in the real world, instead. Who knows?
Love the chat, but I think you might be overthinking things with Rio a little. Everyone keeps saying Rio wants to kill Agatha, and she's just agreed to wait until Agatha is back to full power before they fight to the death. But she can't kill her. They both agreed that "it's not allowed" (episode 1) So why, if she cannot kill her, is she beating up Agatha? Look at what she SAYS, not what she DOES. She finds her trapped in the hex still, presumably just after Wanda has "died" wherever that might be, or rather, when the DARKHOLD died. ("you hid behind all that dark magic") She, and an incredibly coincidentally appearing Teen proceed to combine efforts and break Agatha out of her hex prison. Rio, while attacking, but remarkably failing to inflict serious injury on a TOTALLY POWERLESS witch, informs Agatha that: her obfuscation magic has failed and her enemies can find her now; the Salem Seven ("the worst of them") will be there by sunset; and Agatha has no power to fend them off. Rio says she will wait for Agatha to power up before she acts. If Rio had swept in saying "I still love you even though you hate me for reaping your kid, but you need to listen to my plan, I want to help" Agatha would have laughed in her face. But... getting an opponent to slip up and reveal something while Agatha outsmarts them... well, she can trust THAT! Luckily this TOTALLY UNRELARED TO RIO IN ANY WAY teenager just happens to have a plan that will offer Agatha a way to escape, and a way to get her power back so she can protect herself again. A teenager that we know was about to "die" at the end of Wandavision, who we suspect may have merged with or replaced the soul of another teen who "died" in a car crash at about the same time, and who seems remarkably well informed about everything and everyone. A Teen who might, for instance, have met Death. Who might owe Death a favour for a favour? Oh, and my crazy prediction for the big twist reveal is a scene between Joe Locke and Julian Hilliard... wouldn't THAT freak the heck out of the internet?
The bee story from Candyman is incomplete because Virginia Madsen was allergic to bee stings, so she actually risked her life for that shot and they had to have paramedics standing by on the set. She didn't get a bonuse for that either because of sexism probably. Great discussion.
@howmuchdidyoupay i have been spoiled rotten on the succulent teet of consistent MT AND I WOULD RATHER DEATH THAN TO ALLOW MINE PRIVILLEGES A MODICUM OF DIMINUTION! GIVE ME MT OR GIVE ME WAR!!! 😂
I dont think Teen woke his powers through stress. I think next episode is flashback to who Teen is and we see the lead up to episode 1 from his point of view He put the sigil on himself so he couldn't reveal to Agatha who he was. When Nicholas Scratch is revealed here, Agatha knows it cant be her son and deduces who he is. The sigil is destroyed because it is no longer needed. This frees the powers Teen already had. Teen is Billy Maximoff riding around in Billy Kaplan's body. Billy Kaplan died in the car crash Agnes mentions in episode one. Billy is just as willing to kill people to serve his own agenda as anyone. (Although he probably didnt kill Kaplan on purpose.)
If Rio is Death/Lady Death, then is she even a witch? Why would a non witch have a a trial during all this? I’m confused to why Rio is counted as Death and a witch? Is there any clarification on this?
I believe that Rio can't kill Agatha bc death can't kill anyone, death can only shepard the dead to the afterlife. Rio doesn't want to either bc she loves Agatha still.
i would love if teen is not wiccan at all, just a demon or some magical thing faking it, mainly because im not a hardcore marvel fan, i have no emotional investment in the character
Is all of WandaVission all black and white? Cause I know I need to watch it to really understand Agatha All Along but I'm not a fan of black and white!!!
I think Wiccan is looking to resurrect his mom and is hoping that together, they can reunite their entire family, including Vision. I think he put the sigil on himself and that in the last episode, Wanda, Billy, and Agatha need to fight Mephisto and that Agatha sacrifices herself to free Wanda and the coven. She becomes a ghost like in the comics and eventually gets resurrected too in a future movie or show.
Shout out to Eddie for coming on last minute to join us while our East Coast pals had storm related tech issues!
Finally RUclipsrs talked about Agatha and Rio’s chemistry. I loved it.
Finally? Where have you been watching reviews? It’s been pointed out in every review, everywhere since the first week it aired. 🤨
Not enough. They barely mention it on the big channels like New Rockstars, Screencrush and Heavy Spoilers

Maybe more to the fact that Nicholas was three when he was sacrificed?

Prefixing mentioning HP with "F*ck JKR, support trans people" is based af, New Rockstars could never.
In support of this being Rio trail: When they exit they actually go up instead of down. Like coming out of the ground.
Everyone but Rio and Alice's body. I found it odd they didn't bring the body to lay her to rest.

So a Teen gains/manifests powers while in an extremely stressful situation. Sounds like a Mutant
seems lame and unlikely for them to manifest after several trials as well as him being not shocked, and seemingly having control
I feel like it could be a sign of someone passing their trial - because maybe it was Wiccan's trial not Agatha's.

I don't know why but I still think he's being possessed by Nicolas and Agatha Sensed it after the she got that power boost
Billy's trial

Rio Vidal was married to Star Lord in Parks and Rec. #ItsSoWeird ##ItsAllConnected 😮
I think it’s Lillia that is influencing the others. The one you least expect.
Now THAT's a ragu theory!!!

If they have to do the witches road over, what are they going to do without Alice ?
what if doom has something to do with agatha losing her kid and the darkhold?
Hot take: I think it was Billy's trial - he was the one who stopped Agatha, ultimately. If it WAS Agatha's trial, she failed! :D
The bee story from Candyman is incomplete because Virginia Madsen was allergic to bee stings, so she actually risked her life for that shot and they had to have paramedics standing by on the set. She didn't get a bonuse for that either because of sexism probably.
Great discussion.
Only thing, they were cicadas out of the witches' mouth. Not bees. But still, great discussion
I just got to that Raphael fight last night lol
I wonder if Wiccan is gonna see Wanda (or a form of her) towards the end in a similar fashion that Wanda saw her mom on the road in the comics

We must be thankful for the MT we get and not want for more. MT blesses us with his presence when and where he can 🙏

Why was the safe word Nicholas scratch?
Why did Agatha hear the baby talking?
What does any of that have to do with a Rio trial?
Lmao she wants it to be on Disney x
I dont think Teen woke his powers through stress.
I think next episode is flashback to who Teen is and we see the lead up to episode 1 from his point of view
He put the sigil on himself so he couldn't reveal to Agatha who he was.
❤
Poor Bret... 😂😂😂
I believe that Rio can't kill Agatha bc death can't kill anyone, death can only shepard the dead to the afterlife. Rio doesn't want to either bc she loves Agatha still.
Brett is full on adam ragusea now lol
i would love if teen is not wiccan at all, just a demon or some magical thing faking it, mainly because im not a hardcore marvel fan, i have no emotional investment in the character
Adam Diver? Excuse me that is obviously Josh Groban right there.
Ayeeeee i press like at 69 hehehe😂😂😂hehe he heyyyyy y'all😊
I pick Adam Ragusea
Is all of WandaVission all black and white? Cause I know I need to watch it to really understand Agatha All Along but I'm not a fan of black and white!!!
Just the first two episodes

Witches rights for vaginal flights!
I just find it hard to believe that a cosmic abstract ( rio aka Mistress Death) would have a trial on the road.
