- What a beautiful scenery alongside the Canal through Walcheren. This canal runs from Vlissingen to Veere, and as often also this ride goes smooth because the bridge operator was happy to assist on this journey. But then, just in front of the marina's in Middelburg, I hear a weird sound. "That was not supposed to be there". Tune in and find out what happened and, to join me on a spontaneous walk through of Middelburg.

The 4 camera's I use to produce my outdoor footage, are so called PTZ - P(an) T(ilt) Z(oom). Zoom, I only use on the rear camera, when I am underway. As you have seen I use the pan and tilt a lot. And in the dark they produce a great (short view) infrared image. I even can navigate in a marina at night on my cams.
Since they all are so called "IP camera's", each have an unique (hardwired) IP address (no DNS) in my network.

Waarom ik alles in het Engels doe?
Omdat ik video's kijk van Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers én heel veel Engelstaligen die allemaal Engels lullen en ook bootjesmensen / liveaboards zijn. Want alleen dan kan je je ervaring wereldwijd delen. En wat blijkt? Mijn video's worden in 127 landen bekeken (zie S03/E01 voor de lijst). Veel van mijn kijkers en abonnees zijn Engelstaligen die mijn video's helemaal top vinden, omdat ze óf familie hebben uit Nederland, of hier jaren geleden zijn geboren en door omstandigheden nu elders op de wereld wonen. En, dat ik dan Engels spreek met een accentje (net als de Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers overigens) dan interesseert hen dat helemaal niets.
Weet je dat Nederlandse ondertiteling aan kan zetten? Doorgaans zo'n 4 uur nadat de video is gepubliceerd. Klik op de video, en kies uit de iconen die rechtsonder verschijnen dan voor [ondertiteling] en kies daar voor Nederlands. Dan wordt zelfs mijn steenkolen Engels (knap he van die jongens en meisjes RUclips) vertaald naar Nederlandsch.

I love Walcheren, this was the location for our holidays in summer from Germany when I was a kid. We stayed in Koudekerke near Vlissingen. Even as a student we went there in winter (December, January) to face the winter storms on the beaches. And always the hospitality of the Dutch people.

Henk-Jan, it’s been awhile since I last posted a comment, but be assured, I still follow your every post. The peacefulness of leisurely plying the waters throughout the Netherlands is always a pure joy, even if it has to be virtual! And of course being a virtual passenger on Lady Liselot has its advantages…no worries and no responsibilities of ownership. It seems as if the skipper has a sensitive ear to strange sounds from the proud lady’s engine room. Good thing too, because over time, the machinery always sends a signal when problems are pending! Hi Henk-Jan, when I suspected a foul prop my first thing was to do a few revs in reverse to try to clear it. This remedy works well with weed and sometime plastics but it never worked with ………a carpet, a pair of trousers, some fishing net and a child’s kite, all at different times of course. Happy cruising. Henk, this has been a fascinating series! All that history you are passing! As a WWII tragic, I was fascinated to see Walcheren...a significant spot in the opening of the Scheldt estuary in 1945! Thanks, well worth watching!

Hoi Henk, het was weer een gezellig tochtje met de Lady Liselot van Vlissingen naar Middelburg, dat was leuk varen van brug naar brug wat dacht je Henk zal ik dat kanonnetje uitgraven en dat staat mooi op mijn voordek 😉Jou tocht door de stad met de camera was leuk al heb ik wel even gekeken is het de 360 maar nee ook goed hoor tot de volgende show?

Leuk dit even te zien. Wij hebben een paar weken geleden exact dezelfde weg afgewandeld, naar Jos Boone. Zag hun winkel net even voorbij komen. Maar zijn natuurlijk wel benieuwd wat het geluid nu was, want inderdaad hoor je dat soort geluiden (die niet standaard zijn) niet graag op een boot. Hoop dat het niets ernstigs was.
Ja, ik had jouw post op Insta over Middelburg al voorbij zien komen toen je in NL was, "Dave". Lekker he, dat je hier gewoon alles kunt kopen wat je hartje (en vooral het bootje) begeert.
Geen idee wat het was. Ik sloeg natuurlijk achteruit om de vaart er uit te halen en ik denk dat 'als' er al iets in de schroef had gezeten het door die achterwaartse beweging weer is losgeraakt.
@@MVLadyLiselot was dit - achteraf beschouwd- niet een voorbode van de latere pech op de Noordzee? Of zitten daar heel veel vaaruren en zeemijlen tussen?
7 maanden eerder, het euvel met de motoren gaf geen bijzonder geluid, dan alleen toen alle olie uit het blok was en spontaan was vervangen door zeewater.@@majadebij
@@MVLadyLiselotachteraf kan je lachen om de 'spontaan'. Op dat moment was de spontaniteit een stuk minder gewenst :)
maar goed; Dan was het gewoon een plastic zak in de schroef, of een kluit zeewier..

Hoi henk-jan.Een jaar geleden lag ik aan het zelfde remmingwerk voor de keersluisbrug en had het zelfde probleem dat ik slecht door kwam met m'n marifoon volgens de brugwachter....nooit geen probleem gehad naar mijn weten.toeval of ligt het probleem aan hun kant?
Dat is bijzonder. Dank voor je reactie. Heb er daarna ook nooit meer een opmerking over gehad. Hoge mate van magnetische velden rondom die brug?
Hallo Henk, ik kijk regelmatig jouw videos en ook veel boottesten enz. Dat flikkeren vd camera blijkt normaal te zijn. Het is de frequentie dat vecht tegen jouw camera. Dus wees niet ongerust. Groetjes vanuit Türkiye. Ik zeil 56 jaar en deed 17 jaren charter met mijn catamaran Kalamazoo in Turkije en Griekenland. Nu kleinere motorboot. Wij wonen in Göcek aan de Egeïsche zee.
Ja, soms hebben alle camera's het, soms slechts 1, en bij deze brug had ik zichtbare storing. Zelf dacht ik aan een magnetisch veld, maar de (electrische) trein bovenleidingen ware te ver af.

Hoe vaak ik al door dat kanaal ben gevaren met als eindbestemming het Veerse Meer. Lekker hoor ankertje uit en snachts lekker rustig, vooral als je in de binnenstad van Vlissingen woon. Wat was nou dat geluid wat je hoorde?
Geen idee wat het geluid was. Ik sloeg achteruit om even te dobberen en wellicht heeft dat een omgekeerd effect gehad?
I like the 360 camera work and was one of the few therefore that found it entertaining. I think that sometime in the past you have explained the traffic light system but I cannot recall how it works. On the face of it going through when the lights are lit red and green seems weird. To my mind red means stop and green means go. Why are both red and green lit at the same time?
There is also en yellow light involved. That yellow light is placed in the middle of the bridge deck.
Red + Yellow = bridge is closed but if it fit's, go ahead on the gate where you see 1 yellow light. This is a one way.
Sometimes you even have two Yellow lights on the bridge deck next to each other. Red + 2x Yellow = bridge is closed but if it fit's, go ahead on the gate where you see 1 yellow light...if you go through the gate with 2x Yellow, than be prepared of boats coming towards you might use that gate to.
When Red/Green the Yellow light is off = we prepare the bridge to go open, get ready (Hurry).
Officially green only pops up when the bridge is in upright position and at full stop. But nowadays the operators say: when it fit's, let's go. The sooner I can close the bridge again.

I agree. I think the "red cross" was not available for the lights when then decided on the orange, and they already had red, so perhaps to confusion for boaters @@bobbutcher7725
Misschien is het een idee om een of meer cameras al dan niet met microfoon op te hangen in de machinekamer.
I do have a cam overthere, but because of the engine noose I cannot hear that one sound that should not be there.
Dag Henk. Zijn sommige van jou beelden gefilmd met een drone ? Dat mag toch normaal niet in een stad of ben ik verkeerd ? Groetjes.
Alle opnamen in Middelburg zijn gedaan met een 360 camera op een stick van 3m, die ik met speciale software edit. Daardoor krijg je dat drone effect.

mmmm, nou bij Veere.... daar ben ik uiteindelijk door gevaren. Alle reden om dus nog maar eens daar te gaan buurten.
@@MVLadyLiselot zou ik zeker doen. Mits la Grande Dame in het haventje past natuurlijk. Rechts van de aanlegplek van het veerpont. Het is net of je aanlegt bij een middeleeuws slot. Super idyllisch!
