My dad, (who as a teenager in the 50s, futilely modelled has batting after the righthanded Mantle in high school) has always mentioned that Mantle was a natural righty and had more power from that side. Also, mentioned, before his leg injuries got the better of him was an excellent bunter from the left side.
Switch hitters bat from a certain side of the plate depending on the pitchers throw arm. If the pitcher is a righty the batter will always bat from the left side of the plate. Been that way forever in video game baseball
@@TapirBaseball Yeah if you look up "1960 home run derby" there is a wikipedia page that lists all the contestants, then I went and looked up each player on baseball reference and found him to be number 14
I have two questions. Can you play a homerun derby at night yet ? 2. Can you hit a homerun to the upper deck seating at coors field or is that still blocked ?
1. I would have to check again but I would assume yes because you can customize the stadium like going into an actual game. 2. I'm not sure, I would have to play there.

My great aunt did some hand stuff with Mickey Mantle when she worked at a gin distillery
MLB the show has so many little things wrong it breaks my mind sometimes
It has nothing to do with iso. Every switch hitter in the show hits left cause the pitchers throw right
Oddly enough I think that random #14 is Ernie Banks.
Who you also have in your home run derby against Ruth. Lol
That would make some sense because Ernie is in later episodes so maybe they mixed up the clips
he had a shoulder injury in like 1958 which held him back hitting left handed
yeah, he also had two at-bats against RHP's as a RHB
Looks like Home run derby only goes off of the pitcher. Not the power of the batter
Thank you for the info, is the pitcher random? I’ve played with mantle at least 5 times and he has always been from the left side
@@TapirBaseball no unfortunately it’s always the same pitcher so that might be why we only see mantle from the left side in the hrd
@@olunix9479 Literally unplayable game

His name was Duke Snider, not Duke Schnieder, Mr Expert
They made Gil Hodges Duke Snider in that clip
Larry dobby that’s who it is
no it’s not doby is a lefty
That number 14 is "Wally Post", who wore number 14 between 1958 and 1960 for the Phillies.
Thank you for telling me because I would of never known if you didn't

What size jock strap did Duke Snyder wear ?
His swing is so not accurate
