  • Woman Spots An Unfinished ‘Quilt’ At A Yard Sale, Quickly Realizes It’s Worth Millions of Dollars !
Estate sales are the ultimate wild card in the shopping world. You never know what kinds of treasures you might come across in a chest that’s been sitting in someone’s attic for a decade. A long-forgotten box labeled “junk” might just contain the perfect decoration for your living room.
Shannon Downey, an avid crafter in Chicago, struck gold one day at an estate sale near her home, though what she came across didn’t look like much to the untrained eye. The ornate stitch held a value only she could see, and an unlikely project, she hoped, would skyrocket the blanket’s worth - and bring her community together.

My mother- in-law did this stichery of the United States and each state flower. She did the embroidery while she was pregnant with my husband, her first child. It hangs in our formal dining room.

That quilt is not worth millions of dollars! Yes, it could be worth some but no where near that much! I’m a quilter since 1979 and this is a joke!

I too have this beautiful United States with flowers piece. It was made by my father's mother and given to my mother's mother; who discovered a few missed areas and finished them up. Years later it was passed on to me. I asked my father to build a frame for it, which he did. It is one of my favorite things.

I was so excited when this came across my feed. I have this same states panel my mother embroidered back in the early 70's hanging on my family room wall. I even helped her with one of the states under her guidance of course. What a beautiful quilt this turned out to be.

I really would have liked more pictures of the completed quilt.

My mom also embroidered the map of the United States with the state flowers. It’s hanging in my bedroom.

That was absolutely heartwarming. I’ve got a quilt top that I need to get a back in and binding and get it long armed and found I’m gonna do that one day because it’s a beautiful quilt. I bought it at a garage sale.

I do the same with knitted squares & so far I have completed 3 single bed sized blankets & one very large one. Love to think I've completed someone's project.

It took me a bout a minute to figure out that the national quilt museum where this is now hanging is in Paducah Kentucky! I can’t remember what they said but it was not instantly recognizable as Paducah. This is a lovely story but I think it could’ve been done better. There were not enough pictures of the actual pieces of this panel and the embroidery. In fact I was confused with what the women were doing with the Sewing Machine’s in the beginning of the story.

The picture is an embroidery made in the 1960s or 1970s, NOT A QUILT.

WHY are you calling all of these things 'quilts'? Ridiculous! Definitely poorly filmed--you showed almost nothing of the actual pieces. Next time, do your homework.

When you don't know how to pronounce a city name, contact the library in that city and ask. Flash a picture and then smear it might be worthy in an art class but annoying if you expect viewers to see. Points off for that.
