- Today we take a walk on a creek in search of bait. I will show you what I look for when hunting creek chubs. Creek chubs are an excellent bait for most species of game fish. Remember when finding bait do not trespass, always get land owner permission.
Hello from sothern ontario! Man talking about small rods...Bait buckets...And night crawlers. You just got tought 😊 Man knows.
These are my favorite baits, and they are just fun to catch!
We have a smallish creek that runs through our property. Recently my son tried fishing it and found there's a large population of creek chubs. He was using small hooks and dough balls under a bobber. I had an idea to get out my fly rod and see if they'd hit that. Man... is that a blast! Those chubs are voracious and hit the fly hard. I'm planning to get a smaller 3 wt rod/reel that's better suited to small streams. Now my son wants to learn to cast a fly. If you've never fly fished, it's so much fun. I always targeted smallmouth or trout and occasionally caught a chub. I never thought fishing in a little bitty creek, specifically targeting chubs could be so fun.
A creek chub will turn a grown man into a kid again for sure lol
Your right all the folks that leave trash mess it up for them selves and us
Cool video my friend. I'm a firm believer in getting permission. Here in Georgia you have to have written permission to hunt or fish on someone else's property. I believe in keeping it clean also. Great video.
We have a law like that, it's more enforced for hunting. Most of the property owners I use I have known for years. It helps to volunteer some labor too from time to time if they need it!
Thanks for the info. And yes people need to clean up after themselves. Loose Mono can be dangerous. I hate seeing that laying around the bank.
I grew up hunting and fishing in the 80s and 90s. Back then there were still a few places that were privately owned by farmers but locals knew you could access it to hunt and fish. Just show up to the farmhouse and ask for the gate key. They didn’t have to know you! Few places like that left these days.
I still have a few places like that. A lot of it has been sold off over the years too.
Awesome video! Looks like a lot of fun just catching those guys, let alone whatever you could catch on them later.
We need to get out a few times this year!
For sure, I really enjoyed the couple of times we got out last year. Let me know when you want to go!
AWESOME bait there!!!
Cool video and great tips
Thanks for the video frank. I enjoy watching your videos. Let me know when you are ready to take a subscriber fishing for flatheads. Im from Richmond Indiana and im very interested in going fishing with you. Please let me know.
Great video Frank! Thanks
Thanks, our water just hit the low 50's, season is going to fire up!!
I cant stand ppl trashing up the banks. Everytime I go to the river, I take a fat bag of trash when I leave. Mostly gobbs of orange and lime green fishing line, beer cans, and nightcrawler containers. It's disgusting when ppl leave their garbage. It takes zero effort to be a decent human.
Tons of it, all the time. You can pick it up and come back 2 days later and do it all again SMH
This video sends more traffic to my channel than any other source lol
I always bring a plastic grocery bag with me when I wade or fish a creek and pick up cans and other trash along the way. If we all did that every time we go out, it wouldn't take long to make an impact. And to all those idiots who leave beer cans and empty bait containers on the banks, you should have your fishing license permanently revoked.
What size hook? I had 20-30 of them attacking my salmon eggs but could not hook them...my daughter got one that is when we discovered they were creek chubs....please help!
I use a size 6 or 8 Eagle Claw. In this video I am pretty sure they are size 6.
Beautiful scenery. People should go to jail for littering such a place.
You should come sight fish some carp with me, get some flatheads too. We have some really beautiful places and quite a bit of littering. Lots of volunteer work keeps it nice though.
What are you using for bait?
Berkley Gulp Maggots. Super cheap and you can catch a lot of fish before you have to re-bait. Very economical and work excellent! I get mine from Walmart. I think I had some crawlers with me too.
Going after some creek chubs today and found your video. We are near Columbus Indiana. New sub here and looking forward to following your channel! Come check us out sometime.
Thanks for stopping by!! I will sure come check you out!
Ship any “extra” creek chubs my way lol And yeah, people always ruin it for people 😑
Check Google maps, bet you have a chub hole close!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I need to find some chubs!!!!
Send KBug to the creek with some worms and a bucket, kids can find chubs quick lol
We live in Indianapolis. And we have lost so many great hunting and fishing spots, because of the idiots that come in there illegally, without permission, and then they want to trash the place 🤬🤬🤬🤬. So we know exactly what you mean. Get permission, clean up your garbage, and leave it how you found it.
Had a solid salmon / steelhead hole that I fished for 20 years, Until someone dumped a ton of tires on the trail to it. No Trespassing signs went up real quick
