  • Climate change, pollution and habitat loss are threatening livelihoods, human well-being and our natural environment. How can leaders take action to safeguard people and planet?
That was the question former U.S. vice president Al Gore asked New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, broadcaster David Attenborough, Anand Mahindra, Chairman of India's Mahindra Group, and Zero Waste Academy's Akira Sakano during a discussion on environmentalism he hosted at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Jan. 22.

There was 1500 flights with private jet to WEF 2019 to discuss how much you and me can fly or not because of the climate. They did not go together in a taxi from airport to conference hotel, neither did they use train or bus. Most travelled by helicopter to the hotel from the airport. Do as i say, not what i do is their principal...

If every individual makes a positive change to his/her lifestyle and encourages others to do so we collectively begin to approach our goal. Once we have momentum then it's easier to speed things up. I have stopped driving a motor vehicle, stopped using single use plastics, cut down on energy usage, stopped buying "rubbish" I don't need. Most importantly, I have stopped criticising those who don't do anything or do very little; instead I encourage. We all have free choice - maybe I'll have to carry someone else who has not yet learned to "walk." Stop buying things our planet doesn't appreciate and manufacturers will stop trying to sell them if it's not good business. Thank you everyone, even for just being on this page :)

If he was paid on his accuracy in forecasting, he would be broke. Same old story, give me all your money, the world is burning up. Funny how co2 is 30% heavier than air, yet it stays up in the upper atmosphere.

    • @allosaurusfragilis7782
      @allosaurusfragilis7782 4 года назад

Its true that co2 is heavier than air. You can pour it out a tube and extinguish a candle. In a still room, it would fill it from the bottom up. .....
You must have noticed however, that earth and its atmosphere is not a sill room. Its very turbulent. There are storms. Hot air rises. There are strong thermal currents. Air circulates. Need i go on?
I see this a lot on the internet. One thing doesnt seem to fit, or theres an anomaly, so the whole theory must be wrong.
Assume climate change is happening. If we are wrong about it, at least we ger more efficient engines and alternative power sources.
If the science is right and we do nothing...we might be in big trouble.
Only sensible thing to do is assume its real. Cheers.

I hope people will investigate the facts for themselves rather than give such weight to politicians like Mr Gore and government agency heads as is on his panel. Scientific facts will show the truth. A true scientist would not make statements like Dyer consequences or crisis but would rather present the facts and let you derive your own conclusions. Gore makes many statements but presents nothing to substantiate his claims. Looking at it from both sides, keep your mind open until such time as you believe you have gathered all the facts.

Respectfully, @@biggav7434 I actually have a friend who is a power station engineer and a grandpa who is a physicist, and a business mentor who has property on several continents, So I'm not ignorant about whats really going on and I'm not anti-conservation. Don't be one of the billion brainwashed bobble heads!, like they tell you in you first year of uni, question everything. Especially what they tell you at Uni! they're testing you! find out for yourself what footprint the "solution" has- economically and environmentally, and read up on Covert Narcissism. while you're there. That might save you some future headaches too.

Evidence for manmade climate change is vast, and freely available online. No need for me to cut n paste. Hardly any peer reviewed science papers hold your position that 'it's just an excuse to jack up energy prices'. That's tinfoil hat

A machine that makes cold ice and snow should make glaciers bigger and turn global warming to global cooling.

It is a big shame that scientists usually play by the rules when it comes to climate change, we all knew about feedback loops, when I did the math at university - I was horrified. My text books were dated 2004, back then all the public got from the scientific community was the clear message - its all the public's fault and they should buy energy efficient light bulbs and recycle more. Of course no big corporations were expected to do that, nor were they even pressured into producing recyclable products. Of course the public must change, not the people doing the most damage. Why is this happening quicker than expected - its not! Always the best projections that aim to protect businesses - the ones that cause, control and cover-up all this stuff! Limited data allowed to be used in any findings released to the public, scientists that step up and show the real results - fear mongers - even Stephen Hawking. Scientists forced to conform and use only approved data, have their findings inspected and approved before publishing. Scientists that show better results and more distant concerns, those that only used the best possible projections are safe, those who don't typically don't do well. It is just a shame how science is so tightly governed, censored and controlled. Scientists who know how bad things are, the people who understand this big immediate threat, they need to grow a spine and unite, they should all stand firm and tell the world how things actually are. Any that aim to protect the economy or corporate interests, should be ashamed as they enabled this fiasco. We all knew that the worst projections were the most likely by far and we all know who the culprits are, and we all knew that the solutions provided were inadequate and almost completely useless. We also know that now that the ball has started to roll down hill, it will almost certainly roll faster and faster until it falls of a cliff. The only thing we have any chance of changing is how long it takes the earth to recover, stopping runaway climate change is now completely out of the question.

You don't need to tell us Al Gore what's going on, the question is what are you doing about It? Less talk and more action,

He is spear heading Climate Reality - they train others around the world. We are called Climate Reality Leaders and we give information sessions in our home cities, states and countries. This is the best quickest way to educate towards critical change.

We need Al to start voicing, LOUDLY, the real time DANGER we are facing! His voice is needed NOW! Blow the deniers out of the water! NOW! I believe this is the only issue that will unite us! We have to make sure the squeaky wheel gets the oil! My suggestion is for all of us contact our Senators & Congress reps and pitch the idea to them to contact Al Gore and ask him to assist our FUTURE!!!

Thank you so much. l have spent 80 years out doors. l am an intense nature observer and organic farmer. I am grieving loss of my birds, ladybugs, pollinators, etc. etc. Greta and her 'group' are just in time, maybe.,to get us going.....going with NEW, YOUNG minds to innovate in ways never done. We GREEDY nature ignorant old folk need to retire and fund them!!!! NOW!!!! GET kids out in nature, in a hurry. We have little time to. NEW ways are needed, not present ways adapted so that the rich can still do BUSIness!! ENcourage our genius kids to use their brains...and get off line. Thank Greta for keeping the energy moving forward. This is not like any other challenge in time.......different. Take her followers seriously and ask for THEIR help. Use women's wisdom now. Men have screwed the world up. If females had not been demeaned for thousands of years we would not be in this mess.

We're getting electric cars, that's good! Unfortunately, I can't afford one!
Wind generators kill birds, make a noise and are visually irritating.
We should tap into the tidal currents swirling around our headlands night and day.
God created everything to recycle and a self regulating climate.
Warm oceans evaporate, the moist air rises to cold heights where they condense and rain down cool air with pure water.
2/3rds of our planet is covered with water, some of it 11,000 feet deep, so it should be able to cope!
    'Tiz amazing!
