I am glad that they are adding the signal ground pads for the escs, with high power 4inc setups and MultiShot V1 already going up to 32khz it's really great to be on the save side with this PDB :)
Nice package you got there Travis, Those black spacers need to go between the alu stands and the pdb, as they are directly mounted to the top carbon plate. Nice frame it is!! Thank's for showing!!
+Bishop Vick I have some Eachine 2300kv motors on it right now with 4S batteries. They are descent motors. I need to get it tuned and out to a more open area to fly to see how it performs. I'm using the included 2 blade props now but after it is a little more tuned I'm going to replace them with 3 blades and see if the tuning needs adjusted. On my other quads, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
+travisgrindal Cool cant wait to see it built out! I recently got some 5030 tris to try instead of my usual gemfan 5045. They were faster but wayyyy twitchier so i think more tuning would be needed. But they would break so easy so im using 5040 dals now and these are amazing. feels more in tune and faster even more than the 5045s. Good to try as many different props as possible! (this is on my 280, 1806, 3s)
+Bishop Vick I have some 5030x3 blade props from a long time ago and I tried them again a few days ago. It seems like if they touch anything, they immediately snap. I'm about ready to pitch them all in the trash. The DAL props are nearly unbreakable.
The little spacers in the bag are for your vtx antenna. I saw on dronecamps review that he had fried his vtx. He found out that the spacers go inside your antenna between the antenna and the vtx connection.
+bing crosby Thanks! I'm almost through getting this built. Coming up soon, I have a hexacopter frame and the GE-X220 frame that looks like a Kreiger. It is the updated version of the GE-X240. In a couple of weeks I'm going to be looking at the Martian and the QAV-R clone. There are many frames to choose from!
yeah I really dont know what to build next, i have a thug 180, and zmr250 lowrider, and an old diatone nylon fpv250 p.o.s. quad running x2212 1400 kv motors and 7 inch props and a homemade arduino flight controller... that really is a blast on a qbrain 4 in 1 flashed with blheli... i would love a super strong x frame about 250-300 size purely for acro flying no fpv, and a 210 sort of size quad, i find the thug 180 just a bit too small and frantic for my needs....
+bing crosby I have a 260 X frame coming in the mail. I'll get a video of it up as soon as I can after I receive it. It is suppose to be able to run 6" props. :)
That actually looks like a pretty well thought out frame. I would have thought the only negative would have been the weight (for a 180) but its not even really super heavy, and 2204 motors should take care of that.
I have some 2204 2300kv motors that I'm going to try on it first. I also have a set of 1306 4000kv motors I could also try later if I'm not happy with the first ones.
Hi Travis, one more cool review THX for that ! What are the dimensions of the top camera plate at the front ? Would a Foxxer Legend video camera fit up there ? I love the low profile frames trend and I think it's a good way to go on centering COG, however on small quads there is very little space to fit an HD cam on the top unless the frame is turned up side down (which could be a good option...)
I liked so much the PDB, LEDs all around the border, but how much mm left over to mount the FC ? I guess it is a little heavy to standard 4045 props. Suggestion: comparison flight with 4045 and 4045 tri-blade! Thanks!
+chang truong I think all versions of this frame come with the PDB. I haven't looked into the KISS FC yet. When the KISS ESCs started having all those problems with burning up, I lost interest in KISS.
Hey Travis, I'm looking to build a 180 and i'm not sure which motors to use. I want to run 3s so im debating between motors like the dys 1306 3100kv or maybe something like a 22xx somewhere in the 2600-2800kv range. Im not into racing more into LOS and i like punch outs.Theoretically the 3100's would produce the most thrust but I've seen some thrust tests that show the lower KV's produce more thrust overall. What do you think?
+Chris M I've been debating about replacing my Eachine motors on the Tyrant 180 with the DYS SE2205 2300kv motors. I think they would make it feel like a rocket.
+travisgrindal yah that sounds like a beast combo...since im running 3s I just found these motors, RCX H2205 2633kv's. I think these are perfect for me, u have any experience with these?
just a quick question.. I have a 4 channel transmitter laying around can I use it on a cc3d build? only the flight modes would be missing? I'm new to the hobby..
+Victor Belda I was able to put the RX under the flight board. The spacers are a tall enough to make the board clear the piezo buzzer which also leaves enough room under there for the receiver. I also squeezed in a FBVS-01 so I can get voltage telemetry back to my Taranis. :)
Great Frame,i Really like it - it seems the Chinese are actually focusing on Customer-value lately. however, I can think of two negatives: the PDB does not really seem to be designed for the high current required to run 2205/2600kV motors, as nice as it looks I can not imagine it will withstand the 120Amps required for this... second negative is that you cannot use a flight controller with servo connectors due due limited space: is either direct solder or using jsts - both of which are not my favored...
Yes, you are right. You would have to de-pin a normal flight board to get it to fit. I think Banggood sells a flight board that only has these same connectors on it. I need to add a link to it.
+travisgrindal you can do a low profile motor pin layout (rcgroups warpquad thread). i like because it makes for a much cleaner low stack setup. RTFQ has affordable CC3Ds and Flips without any pins.
Travis! man we love you, but you got to start adding flight footage on more of your videos (IMO). It's almost starting to feel like a flood of videos saying "Hey look guys, a new frame... here are the specs, ok bye!" :(
I know exactly what you are talking about. A lot of the frames I end up not building out but instead I give them away at races. The Tyrant 180 does have a build review video with a lot of footage in it. since it costs about $200 to build a quad I don't build all the frames. I usually end up building out the ones that are different than other quads that I already have. there's not a lot of use to having 12 x frame quadcopters that are all the same size especially if they're running very similar Motors and propeller sizes.
I do have 2 more frame reviews coming that I am planning to build out. One has a new brand of motors and the other is a X frame that is stretched out a little from front to back.
That buzzer is electromagnetic Travis. The place they've mounted it will play havoc with a Naze full (with a mag) and make it un-flyable.....very bad design!
It works now. Someone else said that the Naze32 will beep when the transmitter is not connected. I plugged in the buzzer, then powered on my transmitter, then the Tyrant and the buzzer did not go crazy. I retested with the transmitter off and sure enough, it went crazy again.
I am glad that they are adding the signal ground pads for the escs, with high power 4inc setups and MultiShot V1 already going up to 32khz it's really great to be on the save side with this PDB :)
I like this frame, Diatone is really stepping up their game. Looks like they have a 210 size as well. Love your videos man :)
Nice package you got there Travis, Those black spacers need to go between the alu stands and the pdb, as they are directly mounted to the top carbon plate. Nice frame it is!! Thank's for showing!!
This is a seriously nice, well thought out, well packaged frame!! Good job Diatone! This will be amazing with 2600kv 220# on 4s with tri bullnose!

+travisgrindal you only need to give them a funny look and they break haha :D
Can't wait to see it fly.
+Steve McDowell I got my second video about the Tyrant 180 up now. ruclips.net/video/ZnrN1BdeU58/видео.html

great review as usual Travis.... watching all your frame reviews just need to decide on what to get now...

I'm planning to try both 2 blade and 3 blade props. I have a few sets of both.
Here is the build instructions. drive.google.com/open?id=0B_2OT3AkREpIcG1NRHhZZy1JS3c
Love to get this frame for the price with PDB. BTW, when are you going to get the KISS FC that all are raving about?
+chang truong I think all versions of this frame come with the PDB. I haven't looked into the KISS FC yet. When the KISS ESCs started having all those problems with burning up, I lost interest in KISS.
I would love to see to build video.
Regardless of straps use Velcro as well.

I just replaced the 1806 with the dys se2205 2300 on my 180. With 4045BN and 4045x3 and its a rocket, hovers at 20%. Way above my skills tbh hehe
just a quick question.. I have a 4 channel transmitter laying around can I use it on a cc3d build? only the flight modes would be missing? I'm new to the hobby..
Yes, you only need 4 channels to fly.
Awesome thank you :)
+gordon drummond a 5th channel to change flight modes and a 6th to sound a lost model alarm are useful too though.
Diatone has a fc that has only those connectors. Look on banggood.
Do you think that the kiss flight controller would work with the " quick connect cables " or no
I don't think it will work. You'd have to check the pin layout and see if it matches the Diatone board.
When I looked on their website they didn't have the package u got
Hola puede entrar una bateria de 80mm gracias
try some lumenier 1806 2500kv motors on this 😉
oh, nvm I didn't watch all of the vid
can u mount a foxeer legend on it
Hi, my 150 size needs a lot of turning to stop it from going all over the place, is that the same with ur 150 build you did! cheers
My 150 is tuned pretty well. I have a video where I showed the tuning. I'm running a CC3D board with LibrePilot on mine.
Yes I have the same too! I was watching ur video and made one the same! hehehehe
Do you think flex in the frame makes tuning a quad harder, I love the Tyrant 180 frame! looks so solid!
Where would you place the RX if VTX is placed at the back?
+Victor Belda look at our site we have pictures of the PNF built versions. Our site is diatoneusa.com
+DiatoneUSA.com Thanks!
+Victor Belda I was able to put the RX under the flight board. The spacers are a tall enough to make the board clear the piezo buzzer which also leaves enough room under there for the receiver. I also squeezed in a FBVS-01 so I can get voltage telemetry back to my Taranis. :)

What camera did u get with it ( name please)
This is the one I'm using: www.diatoneusa.com/store/p43/Diatone_600_TVL_120%C2%B0_Miniature_Camera_%26_Mount_-_Green.html
+travisgrindal can you do a build step by step video on this quad?😀😀😀😀
Where did u buy urs from
I got it from diatoneusa.com.
